WebMail Notifier and Gmail 2-step verification

Since setting up my 2-step verification for my Gmail account, the
WebMail Notifier [2.8.1] I have been using for Firefox 8 will now not work, I have Authorized Access the program [see link in "troubleshooting Information]. But still it will not check for mail. If I highlight the icon in the bottom of the browser it stated in RED "Gmail: not checked"
Have also tried doing the "Application-specific passwords" and creating a specific code and inputting it in the WebMail Notifier but will wont work.
Tried deleted the account in webmail and starting afresh but still happened.
Tried on two different machine [bit using Firefox 8] and same thing happens.

You might want to post in the WebMail Notifier discussion forum. <br />

  • Mail and Gmail two-step verification

For the last several days I've been encountering an issue with Mail.app and gmail where my application specific password is valid for one day only. This is not the case for the application specific password I have set up to work with Mail on my iPhone or any other apps. I have used two step verification successfully for months until one day, inexplicably, I was alerted that my password was incorrect. As I mentioned, this happens now on a daily basis.
For what it's worth, I've tried what's listed in this thread to no avail.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15206873
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi All,
I used to have that sort of problem,
first you could go to the connection doctor on you mac (it's on your 'Window' - > 'Connection Doctor' )
then check if your google account 'Smtp tab ' and 'Imap tab '  are all on the green light
If one of it is not connected ( Which means 'red' light ) , here is my solution .
Go  your keychain access ( comman + space 'keychain' )
    click tab 'LOGIN'
On the search tab Find either SMTP/IMAP  (Depend which got the red light)
There will be several accounts shown up if you have multiple email account registered on you mac mail.
find manually the account of your gmail account (Double click each one of it to check which account it )
Check again if you have 2 key chain on one single account
After you find your google account on your key chain  and check the box "SHOW PASSWORD"
Change the password according to the google 2 step verification password
click save changes .  (enter your admin password)
    Hope this will help
    K

  • Gmail 2-step verification: STMP server login fails

After activating 2-step a few days ago I have been very happy. Then I discovered that my MacPro Mail.app can't connect to my Gmail SMTP server (I was using my hosted domain SMTP before).
    Symptoms:
My MacBook Pro is a clone of the MacPro, Mail.app connects fine on the MacBook Pro, send/receive IMAP or POP3,  (using the same application specific token (AST) which I originally assigned to Mail.app on MacPro). That was a surprise - I expected the MBP to require a new AST distinct from the MacPro Mail.app token.
To make sure all was kosher, I generated a fresh AST for the MacPro Mail.app, updated the settings.
MacPro/Mail.app receives via IMAP, but fails connecting to the SMTP server (which I have updated with the new AST).
    Today's further troubleshooting:
    (1) I revoked the application specific passwords for Mail.app both Macs, deleted all the associated Keychain entries. Generated new application specific passwords for the MP ==> IMAP send works but the Macpro SMTP server login still fails.
    (2) I turned off 2-step verification, changed all Mail.app passwords back to simple pwd. Everything works but SMTP server login fails
    (3) In Mail.app I deleted and recreated the account for a *different* Gmail IMAP address. That worked fine, including the associated SMTP login.
This is silly, but there seems to be a curse on one specific smtp.gmail.com login. I have left 2-step verification turned off for the moment until I resolve the SMTP login fault.
If I deleted and recreated the problem IMAP account in Mail.app it would probably fix the problem. But we are in Australia with tight bandwidth caps, I can't afford to redownload 20,000+ emails. And I need them local because we often don't have internet access.

For me, this problem occurs only with Google Apps accounts - these are the ones where you use your own domain e.g. yourdomain.com and not gmail.com.
Wwo-step authentication is disabled on the Google Apps account.
Right click on your mail account name (under Inbox) and click "Edit Account"
Edit the SMTP server list and select the advanced tab.
By default Apple mail only has your user name in the user name field (e.g. user1)
Change this to [email protected] and reenter your password.
I also set the SMTP port to 587
    Everything is working fine now

  • Mac mail not working with gmail 2 step verification in yosemite

Every couple of days my 2 step verification seems to drop off the mac mail (and calendar) radar. Ive been using mac mail with 2 step verification (gmail account) for about 8 months, no problems. About 1 month ago my mac started asking for my gmail password. I have revoked and regenerated my password about 6 times recently to try to overcome this issue. The new password works for a couple of days and then mail and calendar start asking from my password again.

Not quite a reply, but I'm not sure how best to add to my first comment.
One of the issues with this (and there are multiple) is that I can't use handoff to work on something on my mac, started on my ipad, if it is working through my gmail account eg notes, calendar, email.
This bug is totally crippling the productivity and flexibility that came with ios8/yosemite developments.

  • Thurderbird Mail Account Setup isn't recognizing Gmail 2 step verification no enabled

I am trying to set up Thunderbird using an existing Gmail account on OSX Mavericks (Macbook Pro). I do not have 2 step verification enabled in Gmail, I do have IMAP enabled, I'm certain my email and PW are correct, but I consistently get the following error message:
Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?
    Thank you.

If you are using the phone as well as computer, suggest you create 2 step verification to be used for the phone.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g Scan to gmail with 2-step verification

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8600 N911g printer which is a replacement for another one. I am using gmail. I am seting up the Scan to E-mail. I put in all the required information asked by the wizard and when I test it, it comes back with "Incorrect credentials".  My gmail has a two step verification process where it will send a code to my mobil device. I remember setting the Outgoing E-mail profiles up on the previous printer before the replacement but I cannot remember how I got the "scan to E-mail" to work using the 2-step gmail verification.
Looking at another post about gmail I even click on the "Network" tab and changed the IPv4 DNS server settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
I checked and tested my gmail/Google to make sure that my gmail 2-step verification is working correctly.

Scan to email allow you to take a document that you have and send it wherever you want to send it as long as you have someone's email or you can send the document to your email.
Here is the solution to the 2-step verification with google's email.
Get into your google email. Click on your picture or name in the right-hand corner and click "Account". On the "Signing In" box click on "2-step verification". From there go to the App-Specific passwords tab.  Click "manage application specific passwords".  At the bottom chose mail, select device and then generate.  Follow the prompts and guidelines from that point.

  • Two-step verification is not available in "Passwords and Security" as it should be

In order to activate two-step verification for my apple account I was told to log in at appleid.apple.com, go to "Passwords and Security" and locate "Two step verification".
It is not there. I answer the security questions, I can change my password, set a rescue email, change my security questions, but no "two-step verification".
I live in Romania, does that have anything to do with it? Are my people not worthy of extra security yet?

2-step verification is not available in Romania as yet. There isn't any information about roll-out to countries in which it's not yet available.

  • Google 2 Step Verification on Gmail causing 10.9 issues with iCloud Keychain Sync?

    Hi
I have just installed 10.9 on my Air 2011 and it works fine. I signed up the iCloud Keychain sync. I also updated my iPhone to iOS 7.0.3 and also signed up for iCloud keychain sync. All appeared well until I set up my iMac 2009. This had the same email accounts setup but as POP not IMAP (my bad) and so I ended up with multiple email account copies everywhere. I corrected this on each device without issue. Managed to lock an exchange account for work but I can sort that through IT support tomorrow. Anyway an issue with my Gmail cropped up. As I have 2 step verification enabled I have application specific passwords for each device. Now I found that the iMac (last to move to 10.9) propagated its app specific password to the Air and then locked the Gmail access out. If I correct on the Air it propagates back to the iMac locking that out of my Gmail account.
So iCloud Keychain sync only seems to support one password for each email account.
The only option I can see is disable 2 step on gmail and revert to my account password rather than an app specific password.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Has anyone managed to get a solution where gmail 2 step can be retained?
Is there a way to block certain accounts from participating in the iCloud Keychain sync?
Is there a way to force the same app specific password on multiple gmail accessing devices?
    Any help welcomed.
    Thanks

Yep. My other iMac works now too on App specific passwords and iCloud Keychain sync. So that is my iPad, iPhone, Mac Pro, Air, iMac 2012 all working fine on Gmail App Specific passwords. Just my iMac 2009, presume its my bad and in need of a revoke. Sorry for wasting all your time.

  • HT1277 How to set up a Gmail account in Mail with 2-step verification enabled?

Gmail provides application specific passwords for these circumstances but those aren't working for me with Mail:

Based on a review on online forums it seems many are having this problem.  I urge Apple to figure out a solution and I hope someone in this community has figured out a workaround.  If you have please share!
Also if you're having the same issue please share that too.

  • Gmail won't work in Mail with two step verification.

I have been hacked several times with google's email service by people in China and I decided to try their two step verification to add some security. But when I try to add the account on my mac mail list it says that it is offline and the app specific password doesn't work. I have changed the app specific password three times and all of them don't work. Please help!

Eliminate Mail by testing in Postbox and MailMate. Both have demos.

If you cannot set an app specific password for these apps then the problem is with your account. It's difficult to actually get Gmail support so your best option might be to delete this account. Set up a new account with two step authentication immediately.
You also have other options for getting a free email account. Set up an Apple iCloud email or get an Outlook.com (previously Hotmail.com, Live.com, MSM.com).
Whatever you do you need to do the two step authentication.

  • 2 step verification settings for outgoing MAIL SMTP for GMail

and i am in the outgoing SMTP > ADVANCED section of mail where i have an iCloud, GMail and domain based email SMTP addresses.
does anyone know if i set up a SMTP server for Mac Mail as having an authentication set to "none" or set to "password" for GMAIL and whether this password should be one of these online generated 2 step verification passwords?
i seem to have this account on sparrow with no problems at all but i am noticing that GMail mail is not showing up on either of my mac mail installations on either of my machines

    Hi Hotwheels
had similar issues. But incoming worked fine immediately, only outgoing was an issue.
(Though on iPad + iPhone both in- and out-going mails worked fine.)
I generated a password via Google only ONCE for may Mail app. And I entered it only ONCE in the settings. No other changes done.
So on the Mail application, I saw e-mails coming in. My outgoing e-mail stayed in my "outbox".
I just switched to another outgoing server. In my case, when I opened the advanced settings, a popup screen showed up with a number (approx 10) outgoing servers, all named exactly the same: "Gmail" ;-)
The one that was selected had the message "off-line" behind it and so were a couple of others.
As soon as I picked one that was apparently on-line, the mails in my outbox were send within seconds ...
So problem solved without actually really changing settings or entering paswords.
    Hope this helps

  • Mail app and google account with two step verification fail

    Hi,
I try to add my gmail account to Mail app, but it says that login or password is incorrect. I'm using google 2 step verification, that means that I should generate an app-special password each time I use a new application with this google account. I've generated the password for gmail app and logged in successfully, but it doesn't work for Mail app (each application has it's own password).
    iOS 5.1.1 (9B206).
    Gmail app v. 1.2.7182
    Thank you in advance.

I've read every discussion about that problem, though I found no solution there. So I started another one.
I'm sorry. You misunderstood what I was saying - or perhaps I should say that I said it wrong. I meant that I was unfamiliar with this problem - that's all that I meant.
The link for 4.0 is simply for iPads that are running iOS 4.0 or higher. That is what the link refers to. This is copied from the website
Note: These setup instructions are for Apple devices running software version 4.0.
    View instructions for older software.
It does not state it specifically, but it means 4.0 or higher. Google hasn't updated anything further for higher than iOS 5 that's all.
But if you checked it out already or don't want to check it out because you think it doesn't apply - that's your prerogative.
EDIT - your problem was solved as soon as I posted. Glad you got it all worked out!
