Webmasters Rejoice!

Well, I don't know if it has been done, but I think I have come up with a pretty good idea. I also don't know if I am going to go public with the idea either. But I am looking for (mac users only) webmasters and coders to help build and help manage a website with me.

Here's the basic answer...most of the world has been designing sites for IE on windows. Many of them it seems don't even take a look on other browsers/platforms. Most of the time it's not a Safari or Firefox issue but it's a webdesigner issue. They have coded something that is not standard and won't work outside of the IE/Windows world. Now when Firefox became popular they seemed to include Firefox in the mix. The same is happening with Safari but some webdesigners are very slow at coming around. For example I hear the new Yahoo Mail is not compatible with Safari. That's just shame on Yahoo because Safari is the top Mac browser and the 3rd browser overall. So the problem is with Yahoo not Safari.
With that being said you are still on Safari 1 and I'm not sure if Safari 2 can handle these sites better? Of course nothing you can do unless you upgrade to Tiger. I believe most of us here keep an extra browser on hand for any situations like this. Usually Firefox or anything Gecko (I personally use Camino if I have to) is a good choice. Like you I prefer Safari and I use Safari 95% of the time if not more. There is only a site or two that I frequent and I must use Camino. If you would post a few links to sites you're having a problem with we can test it on Safari 2 and see if it's any better...

Why not more rejoicing about the KTML replacement?

I find it curious that there is not more rejoicing about the KTML replacement announced recently by Gunter. Are developers: 1) extraordinarily cautious types who only release cries of joy after much testing 2) cynical that this will actually fill the bill?

You're right that TinyMCE is far from the only alternative WYSIWYG editor that can be made to work with ADDT. But since users lost KTML when Interakt's MX Kollection became Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox, many have been left wanting a solution that offered not only the editor itself, but a file and image manager that equaled KTML's File Browser.
As Günter has explained, the combination of TinyMCE with the Synasys SMImage and SMExplorer plugins now allows users to define individual asset folders for each editor instance using static and/or dynamic values from a DW/ADDT recordset. This mimics the way KTML worked. Other editors do of course offer their own file/image managers, but I'm unaware of any solutions that integrate with ADDT as robustly as what Günter has detailed.
Beyond that, the plugins just have some really nice features. :)

Does it work paying for this? Who are the best for the buck?
Or does a free submission (and easy) method works well for
you guys?

I don't really submit either. I just link to them from my
website - that's
usually enough.

This (I think) is a good general approach, but it also
depends on the kind
of keywords/phrases you are trying to optimize as to how
effective it will
be -
1. I make sure that the page validates.
2. I make sure that I know what keywords and phrases I am
optimizing
against.
3. I make sure that I have used the principle keywords and
phrases in the
home page's title tag.
4. I make sure that I have used well-structured content on
each page, with
paragraph headers containing page/content-specific keywords
and phrases and
located within <h#> tags.
On pages that are likely to be SE hit pages, I include a good
meta
description.

ANN: LR/Mogrify plugin released. Alamy users rejoice!

Hi,
Frustrated by Alamy's 48Mb image size requirement, and the fact that Lightroom's export feature can't automatically resize images by the minimum amount necessary to guaranty that the requirement is met, I've written a plugin to solve the problem and improve my workflow.
The plugin applies ImageMagick's mogrify command to exported images. ImageMagick is a set of powerful, freeware command line utilities for Mac or PC.
Although my motivations were very specific, this plugin could be used by anyone who needs to further post process images using mogrify, and I've therefore decided to release it free of charge. The plugin currently allows the user to resize images using a choice of resizing algorithm and reconvert the resulting image to another format. Users can also enter their own command line parameters to control all the other aspects of mogrify.
I'm willing to improve the plugin to expose other mogrify features via the user interface if enough interest is shown.
It's been tested on Mac. It should work on PC but I can't test it - feedback's appreciated.

Doesn't work for me on Windows. Calls to LrTasks.execute() in
LRMogrifyExportTask.lua fail. I spent quite some time on it. Quotation
of file paths really introduces trouble. Seems there is some problem
with quotation mark matching. If you use only one pair of them,
everything is fine. When there are multiple pairs, things get quite
strange...
For example, these command strings are supposed to work:
c:/somepath/someexecutable c:/anotherpath/file
"c:/some path/someexecutable" c:/anotherpath/file

If I quote both paths, blanks in the first path don't get escaped. Even
worse, I don't know of any other way to escape blanks here than use

system() call. No idea what LrTasks.execute() does.
My suggested work-around would be like this, as LR at least allows use

Errors when submitting sitemap.xml to Webmasters.

When I submit my sitemap.xml to Google Websmasters it says there is an error for every one of my pages. It says there that this url is not allowed. i submitted "the-domain-name".com/sitemap.xml
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Zen Touch Silicon Skin To Be Released Shortly! REJOICE!!

I have been in touch with a Customer Service Manager at a firm by the name of Boxwave (www.boxwave.com). This firm currently has silicon skins available for iPods and Zen Micro, so I took a shot and made a phone call. A Zen Touch skin will be released very shortly. The gentleman said to keep an eye on their web site for the release, which should be in the next couple of weeks.

USB 1.1 users rejoice?

After updating to 1.1.3 last night, I haven't had a single crash/lockup/error message due to USB 1.1 conflict and iTunes. Before, it was hit or miss as to whether or not it would error out and get the "spinning beachball", requiring a force quit of iTunes several times.
Now, everything seems to be working perfectly. Did Apple add support for USB 1.1? Anybody else on USB 1.1 working better now?

Did you update your iTunes as well? I think that's what fixed it.
I was having all sorts of trouble getting music on my iPhone from my trusty iBook. I'd have to perfectly time plugging in the iPhone whilst starting iTunes. Then I'd nervously watch the status in iTunes to see when it would freeze, then pull the plug and start again. Agonising. I woke up this morning and installed iTunes 7.6 (and iPhone 1.1.3) and... oh joy, oh rapture! No freezes. Thanks, Apple.
I think the fix was in iTunes, since I first updated that, then had a trouble-free sync, THEN I installed the iPhone update.
Unfortunately, I updated the iPhone before I synched some music which I purchased with my iPhone/wi-fi tunes. They're now gone. I've reported it on iTunes, but I hope they won't make me buy them again...

So did Apple actually provide the antiglare option? I am so getting one of them for myself... I guess if black border and keyboard are bit of discomfort, they are not as negative as glossy display with glass.
As soon as it arrives to the stores in Moscow, I'll go and grab one. I am sure that apple reseller assistants will try to confuse me and trick into believing that either is fine, but I am 100% positive that i want antiglare with maximum specs, big hard drive and powerful graphics card.
My question is, where can i find the model number on the MacBook Pro? And what model numbers are available? Where can I find this information?

Suggestion: Way to contact discussion board hosts/webmasters

I'm sure that this suggestion has been made already by someone else in the past (likely multiple times), but I really would find it helpful in some cases to have some kind of support e-mail address for the discussions.
So if something technical goes wrong (forum downtimes, posts that disappear silently for unknown reasons, whatever...), it would be nice to have a person (or at least an e-mail address) to speak with and clarify things.

As a rule, AD Hosts don't maintain one to one contact with members via email, although there are systems in place that allow members to contact Hosts about issues that arise on this site:
One is this Feedback forum, where members may post "questions about how to use Apple Discussions and ... general constructive feedback about how the Discussions system is operating or how it may be improved." The type of issues you describe should generally be posted here.
Level 2 and above members are able to report issues about individual posts to the Hosts. If you have a personal issue with a member or post, use the 'Report this post' link, and explain your issue.
Level 4-5 members are able to report and occasionally discuss issues with the Hosts in the Lounge area.
So, all members are able to contact Discussions staff in one way or another, but no one should expect that their notifications will garner responses (or even acknowledgment) from AD staff.

IPhone shrinking 300 pixel pages (webmasters)

Hi, I can't figure out what's going on my mobi pages:
Safari on my 4s iPhone displays these two .mobi-formatted pages properly
(this is the only phone I tested, but someone previously pointed out the problem, too):
kumeyaay.info/mobi/
kumeyaay.mobi/ (kumeyaay.mobi is an addon domain hosted on the kumeyaay.info site)
But it shrinks these pages:
kumeyaay.info/mobi/reservations/
kumeyaay.info/mobi/casinos/
kumeyaay.info/mobi/history/
kumeyaay.info/mobi/kumeyaay/
kumeyaay.info/mobi/mobi/
kumeyaay.info/mobi/music/
I double checked the pages in GoLive CS2 (where I created them) and they all appear to all be formatted exactly: one 300-pixel wide table, and centered.
Any clue/tip would be appreciated...
