WebOS 1.20 email no longer fetches gmail inbox

I've owned the pre since day 1 (6-6-09) and gmail IMAP (as items arrive) has worked flawless... UNTILL 1.20 update.  Since this update, email no longer checks for new messages in the inbox.  This is epic.
Things I've tried to solve this myself:
- Removed account, re-added.  Nothing
- Changed time check intervals from As items arrive to 15 mins.  Still doesn't check
- Rebooted, Shutdown.  still no regular checks.  I do get notified of new emails on reboot, just never again.
- Removed account, then shutdown, booted and added again.  Still doesn't check.
Even when going to the email app and manually refreshing, new messages don't come in.  Some-times after the 3rd or 4th refresh I'll get my new emails (& other times I don't.)
Is my only option downgrade because it's not even secure w/ the email exploits that exist in the older release.
FYI, i'm connect (and been connected) via WIFI.  So sprint isn't at fault.

  • Pop email no longer fetching emails

I just updated to iOS 8.0.2 and today I noticed that my email accounts are no longer fetching new emails.  When I swipe down to update, I get the spinning wheel of agony, and nothing.  I check on my computer and I have numerous new emails.
This is a serious bug that needs to be corrected.
Also, third-party keyboard are still be deselected and the default apple keyboard keeps reappearing when I use an app that requires the use of the keyboard.  Either make option to select default keyboard, or let the last selected keyboard always appear.  When I use my phone after it's sat a bit, I must then hit the globe icon twice on the default apple keyboard to bring back my third-party keyboard.
    Not polished!

  • Every email ends up in Gmail inbox, too?

Since my home email is a cox.net account, and i have run into the same problem that many people here have with sending emails (only way i got it to work outside my home wifi was the cwmx.com route via EDGE)... i decided to try the route suggested in another post where i setup a gmail account and use those settings as my smtp....
After much trial and error, i was able to send emails either via wifi or EDGE from my cox.net account... Problem is, every email i send – no matter who i send it to – i get a duplicate copy in my gmail inbox on my iphone.
Is there a setting somewhere either on gmail's site or on the iphone that i am missing here? I don't really plan to use the gmail account, but i don't want hundreds of emails stacking up in its inbox, either.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

I believe he is talking about the settings in the iPhone, not the Gmail settings.
Go to your iPhone home page. Tap the settings icon. In the settings page, tap the mail icon.
Flick down the page until you see the "Always CC Myself" option and make sure it's off.
For what it's worth, mine is off and everytime I send an email from my phone it ends up in my phone's inbox. I posted it as a bug a few minutes ago.

  • SL/Mail 4.1: Cannot Fetch Gmail via POP

Since upgrading to SL/Mail 4.1, mail.app will no longer fetch gmail via POP access (this worked fine before the upgrade). However, sending mail from mail.app works fine. I get an error dialog, "Mail cannot verify the identity of pop.gmail.com." Clicking the Details button, reveals that the certificate is "imap.gmail.com," even though the account has been set-up as a POP account from within mail.app and in my Gmail account settings. Anyone else notice this? Ideas? Many thanks.

Having the same problem on my wife's Macbook Pro. I set the account up as a POP account a few days ago and now when I looked at it today, it was both an IMAP AND a POP account. I deleted the account and tried adding it again, but was NOT given the option for custom account setup (that little check box at the first screen for new accounts). The server will not authenticate under POP because it is imap.gmail.com.

  • Mutt/Offlineimap Sent mail is showing up in Gmail Inbox

    Hi,
I am just starting my journey with mutt and quite like the interface thus far but I am having trouble with sent emails showing up in my Gmail inbox.  It is a little annoying to always have my sent emails appear as unread in my inbox.  In my search for a solution I have found that this behavior sometimes occurs if you have Gmail filters that are set to never send to spam, I checked and do not have any such filters.  This could also happen if I had $record set, but I have specifically unset record.  My muttrc and offlineimaprc are as follows (I used several tutorial sites to help create these) (I have hashed out some personal details):

I use msmtp to send the emails (and they do send) but as far as I know that program should have nothing to do with my folder labeling.
What happens exactly:  When in mutt, I press 'm' and compose an email and send with 'y'.  Oddly enough, the email appears in my gmail inbox (the webmail) even before I sync mutt with offlineimap (I don't automatically sync).  Once I sync, I see the email in both my sent mail and inbox.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

You have unset the record variable.

  • Help -- Email no longer appears in Gmail inbox

As of yesterday, messages no longer appear in my Gmail inbox on my HTC Incredible 2.  I can access new messages at gmail.com and using outlook on my home PC.  When I send myself a message, the phone buzzes and says I have new mail, but nothing appears in the inbox.  I can see sent mail (including the messages I sent to myself that do not appear in the inbox).  It's a 2-week old phone and I use few apps, so I have definitely not reached memory capacity.  Any suggestions?

    Hello Hanaueri.
Oh No! You should be able to see incoming email in your Gmail application. Let's get this fixed right away.
How many Gmail accounts do you have set up on the device? Did this start after a particular application was downloaded? It may be a third party application causing the error. Please power on in safe mode and retest. Here's the link to power on in safe mode:
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=42081&sayt=safe mode incredible 2*
Are you able to receive the messages in safe mode?
It also could be an issue with Outlook on your PC taking the messages. Please ensure that a copy of the message is being left on the server. Here's a link that will help you: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/outlook-2010-leave-messages-on-server/983a4d8d-10a5-4b19-b691-5c9af4a047a0
The above link is if you have Outlook version 2010. If you have Outlook version 2007. Please use this link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080811130420AAYyv9H
Let me know if this fixes the issue.

  • My ipod is using an old email account for icloud the email no longer excists so i cant log in, what do i do?

i am trying to reset my brothers ipod touch to factory settings and to delete all of the data so that we can sell the ipod, but we were originally using an old apple id account that now no longer exists, our email was with a company (optus) that we were using but we are not with optus anymore so that email no longer exists, we are now using gmail for our new apple id and there have been no troubles logging in with our new apple id, although we are trying to log into icloud on the ipod touch so that we can turn off 'find my ipod' so that we can restore the ipod, but its asking for the old apple id password which does not exist anymore, the email also does not exist so i cant reset the password or anything, what do i do? please help i have tried many things but nothing seems to work

Then you will probably need to contact Apple for assistance resetting the password for the old ID by contacting the Apple account security team:  Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security, or by by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password.  You can also get assistance by email by contacting iTunes store support:https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Email-to facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?

To facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL and avoid overwhelming the recipient's screen, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?  I have been making a duplicate image of 35 MB and reducing the image size to 8"x12" at 72 resolution giving a file size of 1.4 MB.  Then I SAVE AS a jpg of medium compression giving a  file size of about 111 KB.  Overkill?

    Go to File>save for web.
I usually make the long side 800 px
At the bottom of the dialog, check "constrain proportions."
At the top, select JPEG in the dropdown for the file format.
All the work is done for you! 72px/in is ok for web work. 240-300px/in is the recommended range for printing.

  • Export Entourage email and contacts to Gmail

I'm having trouble exporting contacts and email from Entourage to Gmail.
I've gotten as far as exporting the address book >.txt file > .csv file but it will not import into Gmail.
    Any help?

Yes it will. As long as you are running Leopard 10.5.8 or higher and you have the latest iTunes on the Mac.
Connect the iPad to your Mac and launch iTunes. Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices. There are a series of tabs across the iTunes window on the right, Summary, Info, Apps, Music, etc.
Click on the Info Tab and go to Sync Contacts. Click on the Sync Contacts Heading and click on the contacts/ address book that you want to sync. Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTumes.

  • I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 thing. But now my iphone's gmail inbox shows a random selection of emails (not most recent ones that are in my inbox). How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 capabilities. But now my iphone's gmail inbox only shows a random selection of emails (i.e. right now it is May 31, 2013 but the emails in my inbox are a couple from Nov 12, a few from Oct 12, and then some way older than that and so on.When I log into my gmail from a computer, I see all my emails in the logical, standard order. How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices (ex: putting mail in a 'work' folder) will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail (ex: it will already have a 'work' label on that email the next time you sign in).
IMAP also provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
Finally, IMAP offers a more stable experience overall. Whereas POP is prone to losing messages or downloading the same messages multiple times, IMAP avoids this through two-way syncing capabilities between your mail clients and your web Gmail.
That is from the page that you linked- does highlighted part of message ring a bell?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, 10.9.1, pictures that come attached to emails no longer display.  There is only a blank space that after about 1 minute, has a small box with a question mark.  Double clicking on the box will open the image in a separate window.  It's very slow and tedious for multiple images.  How can I go back to attached and displayed  images?  If I click on "Forward", the images appear instantly in the email to be forwarded.

    Scott,
My problem seemed to fix itself.  Or, by shutting down the computer one night, instead of putting it to sleep, may have reset something.  Since updating to Mavericks, I always (or usually) let the computer sleep overnight or anytime I'm walking away from it.  A few days ago, I was updating notes for my kids about how to find all my stuff and how to turn on my computer, so I wanted to rewrite the start-up procedures for the iMac, just in case they ever need to.  Well, I shut it down one night so the following morning, I could write down each step.  Lo and behold, the images, etc. are all there again!  Solved, but I'm not sure why.

  • How can I change my email on the cloud if that email no longer exists

How can I change my email on my iCloud if the old email no longer exists

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change (you don't need to verify the address).  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud), and use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID.   Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • GMAIL IMAP: Mail app on iPhone, random old emails showing as new in inbox.

    Hi all,
I've tried to get an answer to this elsewhere, hopefully someone here can shed some light on my problem.
I just switched both my GMAIL accounts from POP to IMAP: using the web interface, everything's fine; using the Mail app on my desktop, everything's fine; however, using the Mail app on my iPhone, one of the accounts is fine, but the other account only show a random smattering of email from between 2005 and 2007 as the "newest" emails. Now, new emails come in fine and dandy but as soon as there are fewer than 25, WHAM!, these random group starts showing up in the inbox. It's annoying as all get out. I've tried deleting the account from my iPhone and setting it up from scratch, to no avail. If both accounts were acting this way I'd chalk it up to either an error on my end, or some tick between GMAIL and my phone but these seem not to be the case. So, how about it? Any insight out there?
    thanks,
    christian

Yes that is normal. The sync between your gmail inbox and the all mail folder in gmail is not immediate, so you will have an emal that will appear as unread in the all mail folder, yet you did read it already in the gmail inbox. There is no way around this nagging issue at present.
I cannot comment on the other point you raise as uses/behavior for sharing one's computer vary greatly. If you have privacy issues and still share your computer with others, you may want to create a guest user profile and have others use this guest user profile when using your computer. That way they will be able to use a browser, or create a document and so on and so forth, but will be prevented from seeing the data/files/folders and applications - the way you have set them up - you see when you are logged in.
To create a guest account go to system preferences>accounts
    hope this helps

  • Can't use Find My Friends on iPhone due to Apple ID not being verified. Can't do this as I can't access my .mac email any longer and I can not change the primary e-mail address for my Apple ID!

Can't use Find My Friends on iPhone due to Apple ID not being verified.
Can't do this as I can't access my .mac email any longer and I can not change the primary e-mail address for my Apple ID!
    So my options are:
Create a new Apple ID, use that and lose all the apps I've purhcased with it (a fairly substantial amount)
Somehow Migrate these purchases over to a new Apple ID
Apple let me change the primary ID for the account
Anyone else ran into this before?
I've tried accessing the mail through a mail application using the correct server information, and trying both the old 6 character password and the one I had to change it too after they updated the security guidelines - neither work.
Help would be greatly appreciated as I can see more services down the line not working without the address being verified!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You should not need to verify the old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
