WebOS Doctor questions

Is this a bad idea or should it work?
After I completely back up my Pre, is the following possible?
If I download this version of the webOS Doctor
//palm.cdnetworks.net/staging/rom/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
can I simply remove the unwanted IPKs in ...\webosdoctorp100ewwsprint\resources\sprint.tar, then run the webOS Doctor and the Pre will be reloaded without them?
Thanks in advance for any input.

I ran into this isssue and had to have Sprint reset my entire account
After running WebOS Doctor I tried to activate my phone as usual...no luck.
if you look at the signal meter on the upper right, if it doesn't show any data, you'll probably have the same problem.
to fix this you need to go to the emergency dialer (it won't auto dial).
Delete the 911 from the dialer and put in the ##RTN# code
When you try to reset the RTN it will ask you for your MSL which you need to get from sprint.
Once thats taken care of and you reboot, you'll notice that the signal meter will show EVDO or whatever data you have and it should be able to connect to the network and allow you to restore the phone.
Unfortunately i've heard that most stores don't have people that know this, they'll often just tell you that your phone is dead and needs to be replaced.

I can't download it. It keeps saying I don't have a "JRE" configuration. What does this mean?

JRE stands for "Java Runtime Environment".
I'd head over to java.com and make sure you have the latest version of Java installed.  If using a 64bit system, be sure to download both the 32bit version, and the 64bit versions.

  • Java blocks webos doctor

I have an HP touchpad wi-fi only.  I was trying to install the webos doctor as my device has been increasingly cranky and not opening some referred websites and mime files.  I got the doctor partly installed and Java blocked the completion saying the certificate was out of date.  When I checked the box to take the risk, Java still blocked the installation saying it was dangerous to install the program.
How do I "refresh" my tablet? As I am sure you know, HP no longer supports the tablet :-(   Many thanks.

  • WebOS Doctor 1.3.1 Bricked my Pre

I was attempting to run webOS Doctor 1.3.1 to try and fix some flakiness my email was having with sending email (receiving email was fine). My battery was 90+% and I moved some of my photos off of my phone in case I lost them. I went through all the webOS Doc prompts to the point where it said it was in progress and then I went to lie down for a bit since I knew it would be a while before it was done. I looked up from my bed at one point and noticed that there was a big ! in a yellow triangle. It said my phone was disconnected. I tried to get the screen to come on by tapping the power button and nothing happened. I held the power button down forever and still nothing.
Is there any way to get my phone back on or am I screwed and have to go get a new phone?
    Thanks

  • Factory Reset now will not boot, No WebOS doctor available in profile

I did a factory reset on my HP Touchpad to give to my son as a christmas gift. However, I boot the system up then select English, Then select the Country United States and the system hangs Its been doing this for a couple days. I then shut down the system turned it back on and does the same thing over and over. I go to my www.palm.com and log in and the WebOS doctor does not show up on my profile. Does anyone know how to install the software back on the TouchPad so I can get it back up and running?

They are .jar files.  These are executable java files.  Some browsers have been known to change the extension to .zip by mistake.  Try using a different browser to d/l the file.
Go to www.java.com and let the website check your installation for the latest version.
Be sure you have the latest install of java on your PC.
Did you get the large USB symbol before proceeding?  You will need the novacom drivers.
If the process fails, rinse and repeat!  Reboot everything (you have tried holding both power and center buttons depressed on the TP for >15 seconds, right?) and try again.
Good luck, and be patient - I've seen the doctor pause for 10 - 15 minutes before proceeding...

  • Bug: pre cannot activate after webos doctor

My phone goofed during the update and I had to use the webos doctor to get it back.  It worked perfectly but when my phone came back and attempted to log into my palm profile I kept getting
Verify that you are connected to your wireless service provider's network
and had no data connection (even though I had perfect signal)  i did some googling and convinced the sprint represenative to re provision my  entire account (not just the phone) whch was the only thing which wound up working.  She said the only way she could imagine that a software change could affect account settings is if the reflash changed or reset the provisioning password?
I do not pretend to understand the inner workings of wireless devices or account services, but there have been many people with this same issue.

    CONFIMED!!!!
Flashed my palm pre which was using webOS 1.1 with the newest webOS Doctor available from palm (assuming webOS 1.04).
Everything flashed fine. when I booted the phone on for the first time. confirmed language and tried to sign into my palm profile.
Got an error message that I need to make sure that I am in my providers data service range. (Which I know I was)
Called sprint tech to help. Tryed asking them to provision my account. NOTHING WORKED.  2 hours of phone support later I was told I needed a new phone.
Sprint Tech Guy gave me a hard time, after telling him that tech support noted on my account I needed a new phone, I received one, phone worked first boot.
If RyanFX can confirm that he flashed from webOS 1.1, I would say the issue lies with  palm and that the webOS Doctor is actually downgrading the phone causnig it to freak out the network!!!!
NOTE: That the webOS 1.1 also updates the sprint profile from 1.6 to 1.7
This probably causes a network confusion of some sort.

Same OS, Same issue... never followed up on it as it turns out my inability to upgrade to 2.1.0 was a two fold Rogers issue (Canada).  First they had the 3G network down for several hours in my area, then the WebOS update would time out on their site.  Let me know if you get it to work.

  • WebOS Doctor broke my phone!!

I was having some issues with my Palm Pre (Sprint) so a Sprint tech support rep told me to go download the webosdoctor from the Palm website. I entered my serial number and downloaded the doctor. The doctor ran for about 30 minutes then stoped and said there was an error. Now my phone shows the "Your phone is experiencing an error that cannot be resolved....." I tried to restart the phone using every Palm trick there is, and still get this screen. Now the sprint tech people tell me to try downloading the doctor again and trying again. But I can't even run the doctor now. It won't let me click next. I have tried holding the Volume UP button, but I don't get the USB symbol.
So what now? I don't even know why they would suggest I even run the doctor program again, when it's what broke my phone to begin with.
    Help please somebody!

    Charmon1605,
If you are using Windows, try removing the novacom drivers in the add/remove programs. Before you run the webOS doctor again, make sure that your phone is fully charged. Once you've done follow the directions on how to run webOS doctor from here - http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/How_To_Recover
    Hope this helps!

  • Can Someone Help Me Find WebOS Doctor 1.3.5?

Hey guys. I've kept my phone on 1.3.5 b/c of the bluetooth issues with 1.4. Anyways, my phone got stuck on the palm logo screen, and brought it into a sprint store to see if they could load 1.3.5, but they ended up loading 1.3.1 (doh!). I just want to doctor the **bleep** thing back to 1.3.5, but it looks like palm took it down. I have the 1 kb jar file (that downloads the larger file), but that wont even open b/c the link is down.
Palm.  Why would you remove this!?  You are crazy for doing so.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

If you need support from Palm I would suggest contacting Palm either via chat or phone support. The palm forums is a community driven forum and is NOT a direct support line with Palm.
Although we do strive to keep an eye on things in the community it is not to answer questions necessarily, but to help identify issues (e.g. bugs), although even those are most effectively handled by contacting Palm support.
This is a peer to peer community where it is encouraged to be between customers (customers helping customers).
I'm glad you was able to find your answers on Precentral. Precentral is the same as Palm and is driven by peer to peer communication, they have a community that is quite large and is always willing to help.

this issue was particularly upsetting today, as my phone was at 100% last night, during the night Irene knocked our power out, and apparently something about this drained by battery to only 40% when I woke up. Luckily my laptop is charged, so I can usb charge my phone, but I had hoped to use that later in the day, not first thing in the morning.

Because I can not sign in with my Pre I tried WebOsdoctor but everytime the 6% is reached the Palm starts up and the connection between WebOsdoctor and the Pre fails.
Is there a solution or should I return my Pre?
Thanks in advance for your help

  • Don't Have Cable for webOS Doctor

I got the error while updating my Pre that tells me to go to the url www.palm.com/ROM.
I looked up how to fix it, but realized I don't have the cable to plug into the computer.  Is there any other way I can solve this unfortunate malfunction without the cable?

Is it the charger that came with your device? The Pre should have shipped with a charger and cable for the computer that is all in one.
The end that plugs into the charging port is USB and can be taken out and then put into your computer.
If you need another cable for some reason you can buy one here
