WEBPAGE BROKEN - Oracle CLIENT - Solaris

Please fix the webpage -
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201sol64soft.html
It is kind of stupid at this minute. I DECLINE THE AGREEMENT and I can still download everything.

Hm there seem to be some scripting error. When I accept, only some links are activated, the rest of the links brings a pup-up with "Sorry, you must accept license agreement".

    Hi Hans!
    Thanks much.
Currently we are using Oracle database v9, so we are more interested on Oracle 9.x client to be run on "Solaris 10 AMD64".
I searched for the combination of "Oracle client 9.x"/"Solaris x86-64", and came to know this combination is missing(or unavailable) from the client list provided at Oracle web site.

  • Oracle Client 10i archieve is broken (file "10g_win32_client.zip")

    Hello,
I have just downloaded Oracle Client 10i for Windows for three times.
And all three times I was not able to extract files from archieve.
Some files in archieve were corrupted!
Size of lots of extracted files did not match the uncompressed size recorded in zip file.
So, Something wrong with source file or something wrong with connection.
I used two times ReGet and one time GEtRight to download file.
What is going on and what should I do to get Oracle client 10i for Windows?
    Dmitry Tabachnikov

Is the file exactly the same (byte for byte) all three times you downloaded it? If it is, the source file may be corrupt. If it isn't, you may be having some network trouble.

  • Oracle Client(8.0.5) installation on Linux(6.0)

    Please Help,
These are the steps followed in the Oracle
    client installation of the Linux
    version
    1. Loaded SQLNET, TCP/IP Adapter and sqlplus from the Oracle CD for Linux.
    2. While running SQLPLUS it gave the 'Missing Library file'
    3. Added LD_LIBRARY_PATH parameter to .profile, problem solved.
    4. While running SQLPLUS a new message 'Segmentation Fault - Core dumped'
    started coming.
After analysing it was observed that none of the Linux memory parametre
required for oracle had been tuned. these parameters are :-
    shmmax,shmseg, shmmin, shmmni, semmns, semmni
We know the value of these parameters but the problem is that in linux we
are not able to find the Kernel paramater file,
as we do not know the Kernel parameter file name and the location in which
    it is situated.
I have done the configuration of Oracle in Sun Solaris successfully and
also modified the Kernel parameter. the following in the sample data
extracted from the /etc/system file present in Sun Solaris.
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=208388608
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=15
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=150
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=250
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100
What I request is that kindly tell me how and where to update the same in
the Linux for installing Oracle Client(8.0.5) on Linux(6.0).Regards And Thanks
    Sanjay Kr. Pandey

You'll have to be prepared to wade through and understand the Linux way of recompiling your kernel. The files can be located using the "find" command. There is some great "HOW-TO"s in the Linux RedHat site.
Tip: Be very careful how you answer the "make config" questions because it can mess up the resulting VMLINUZ object. Also, be sure to place secondary entry in your "lilo.conf" to allow you a graceful way of getting back to the old kernel should the new one fail.
    Good Luck!

  • 32 Bit Oracle Client Libraries on a 64 Bit Machine

    Hello,
I own a 32 bit application that is running on a 64 bit linux machine currently only installed with 64 bit oracle client libraries. I requested the administrator install the 32 bit client libraries so that my application can function and they tell me that it is not possible. They cited a Meta-Link article that I do not seem to have access to, but this doesn't seem right. Has anyone else ever installed 32 bit compatible client libraries on a 64 bit machine. Thanks

    (First Time Poster)

On Linux (and this is only on Linux, not on Solaris and AIX !) if the OS is 64bit, only 64 bit Oracle is supported.
Check the Certify pages for Linux x86-64. This is in the critical notes :
"Linux x86-64, support on AMD64/EM64T and Intel Processor Chips that adhere to the x86-64 architecture with supported Linux releases. *Running Oracle 32-bit on AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported .*
Oracle 32-bit running on AMD64/EM64T with a 32-bit OS is supported, refer to platform Linux x86 for more information on product availability. "

  • Error when trying to install oracle client (can't connect to X11 error)

    Hi guys,
I need help to install Oracle Client 10g. I am quite a novice so I am totally hopeless when it comes to difficult or linux-kind-of-terms.
I can't use GUI at all, so everything got to be done through putty.exe
my local pc (where the putty is, IP 192.168.8.194) -> linux red hat 4 IP 192.168.8.31 (where the oracle client should be!)
when I run the runIntaller I receieved error mentioning about DISPLAY variable haven't set yet.
I did set it trhough putty as follow
    DISPLAY=192.168.8.194:0.0
    export DISPLAY
    no luck...I still hit an error that eventho this time the error is like below;
    =============================================================================
Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.8.194:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
    192.168.8.194:0.0
    192.168.8.194:0.0
OUI-10025:Unable to start an interactive install session because of the following error:Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.8.194:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable. The DISPLAY environment variable should be set to <hostname or IP address>:<screen>, where the <screen> is usually '0.0'.
    - Make sure that client users are authorized to connect to the X Server.
OUI-10027:To enable client users to access the X Server, open an xterm, dtterm or xconsole as the user that started the session and type the following command:
    % xhost +
To test that the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, run a X11 based program that comes with the native operating system such as 'xclock':
    % <full path to xclock... see below>
If you are not able to run xclock successfully, please refer to your PC-X Server or OS vendor for further assistance.
    Typical path for 'xclock': '/usr/X11R6/bin/xclock'
    ==============================================================================
When I run the xclock using GUI I can see it pop up on my screen, but when I run xclock trhough putty, I see that it just went blank...is that right because I am using putty or what?
Can you guys please help? Everyone that had this problem like find the solution real easy...I just so frustrated because this setting is just not working, and I have no idea what to check. Do I need extra library or something to install this?
Please remember that I can use GUI in my test server but I can't use any GUI at all when I am implementing this.
    Thanks thanks thanks.
    Daniel -

    Hi-
You are right. putty is just a simple console without X11 in it. how come it didn't even cross my mind?
Thanks for the reply. I solved it by using third party software called xdeep, from what I got from internet looks like this and the software you were talking about hold the same purpose. This xdeep is pretty easy to configure and in just few seconds I can launch the installer! Gee...!
For those guys that having the same problem as me then find xdeep software from google and browse on the configure webpage. I found a step by step configuration setting from the internet too and it's real easy.

  • 10.1.0.3 Oracle client for SPARC (64-bit) not on Metalink

    All,
I cannot find the 10.1.0.3 Oracle client on Metalink account for SPARC. Is this available anywhere?

You have to download the base version also, not only patch set!
    To get the patch set:
click tab Patches & Updates, then click link "Quick links to latest ...".
Now choose Oracle Database, scroll down to Solaris SPARC 64bit -> patch set versions 10.1.0.3 to 10.1.0.5.
As far as I know, I dont deal with Client installs much, you can upgrade both Client and Database with the "Database" patch sets.

  • Brbackup cannot find oracle client libclntsh.so.10.1

    Hello.
I have followed the SAP note 113747 and still no luck running brbackup from DB13 or as dd0adm on Solaris command line.  The problem I see is brbackup can't find the libclntsh.so.10.1.
Our environment is Solars 5.9, Oracle 9.2, R/3 Ent 4.7, brtools 7.0 (which requires Oracle 10g client).
    Problem:
    litudsap6:dd0adm 14% brbackup
ld.so.1: brbackup: fatal: libclntsh.so.10.1: open failed: No such file or directory
    Killed
From what I have read, Solaris ignores the LD_LIBRARY_PATH when the SUID bit is set (which 'chmod 4775 brbackup' as oradd0 did).
Here is the short of the note 113747:
    (1)
ora<sid> and <sid>adm on DB server have a search path on /sapmnt/<SID>/exe. (All br* and sapdba are contained in this directory.)
ora<sid> belongs to the dba group,
<sid>adm belongs to the sapsys group,
    (2)
<sid>adm on the database server has the rhosts entry: "+ <sid>adm".
    (3)
The ops$<sid>adm Oracle user must be created in the DB and must have the sapdba role (not DBA!) (refer to Note 134592 for more information about the role).
    (4)
brarchive, brbackup, brconnect, brtools have permission 4775:
    -rwsrwxr-x   ora<sid>   sapsys   ...
These can be started by the ora<sid> or the <sid>adm OS user.
brrestore, brrecover, brspace, and sapdba have permission 755:
    -rwxr-xr-x   <sid>adm   sapsys   ...
These can only be started by the ora<sid> OS user.
    My test results as sidadm:
    litudsap6:dd0adm 16% env |grep PATH
    PATH=/sapmnt/DD0/exe:/oracle/DD0/920_64/bin:/export/home/dd0adm:/usr/sap/DD0/SYS/exe/run:/usr/bin:.:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/ucb

    sapsys dba taxware

  • We have a set of oracle clients running on T5220 zones that need some help

    Greetings all -
We have a set of oracle clients running on T5220 zones that need some help.
If, for example, I execute the query "select (all) from dba_objects", trace output reports 90% of the elapsed time spent under "SQLNet message from client".
Here are OS details for the clients: Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC
Running "uname -a" from the client gives:
    (SunOS bmc-ste-app 5.10 Generic_127127-11 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5220)
Here are OS details for the dataserver: Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2
Running "uname -a" from the dataserver gives:
    (2.6.18-92.1.6.0.2.el5 #1 SMP Thu Jun 26 17:44:55 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
    The RDBMS is 10.2.0.4
Again, please note, there is no application in the picture here. We are just running a simple catalog query (select * from dba_objects) from sqlplus. Why the wait on something like this? The wait also occurs when a different query is used (select (all) from SYS.COL$ where rownum < 50000). And it doesn't matter if I used the full client or the instant client. I still get the same high-wait.
We had thought - maybe this is a network thing - so we put a test client on the same subnet as the dataserver. This helped - but not enough. The wait is still way too high even with firewalls taken out of the equation.
We've also looked at arraysize, SDU, kernel settings. And we've spent time going over tkprof, truss and sqlnet-tracing.
Has anyone ever had to solve this HIGH WAIT ON CLIENT issue? Is there a work around or some tweak I'm missing.
Is anyone configured like we are (linux dataserver, solaris clients)? If so - did you see anything like this?
    tia -

    Hello,
We have the exact same issue. Did you ever solve this issue? We have a t5220 and have just upgraded our 11.5.10.2 11i system on it from 9.2.0.8 32-bit sparc to 11.2.0.1 64-bit sparc. Things should be faster but arent, and our consultant has tracked it down to high wait times when the apps tier using forms connects to the database tier on the same box. So even though the t5220 is both server and client, there is something about the client sql connection.through TNS that his having trouble. Thanks for any information. We've also created an S/R with Oracle.
Note: I am well aware of the other issues with the CMT server series but this particular issue seems independent of the regular / known issues and remains a mystery to us. Other known issues with the CMT servers for SPARC:

  • Comms between a database and an oracle client is slow

I have a Win2000 server machine (Running MicroStrategy) with Oracle client (9.2.0.1.0) querying an Oracle DB (9.2.0.6.0) on AIX 5.2 (They are connected via Gbit ethernet, ping times are 1ms and no hops enroute). After a lot of testing I have simulated the problem I see in MicroStrategy by running a simple select * from A_TABLE which returns 30,000 rows to the client. When I run this it takes about 2 minutes to complete.
When I run the same query against a copy of the database on Solaris it takes 5 seconds.
When I run the same query from a different PC (same Oracle client) it takes 2 seconds.
I seem to have a problem with this specific Oracle client machine talking to a specific Oracle DB. It happens with Oracle Net connections, ODBC and Oracle Wire Protocol connections.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Marc

I can't see how tuning the Oracle Networking would help as both ends of this problem work OK when talking to other nodes. The DB server certainly performs well with any other client, so tuning at that end would seem pointless. The Win2000 server first display the issue using Oracle Wire Protocoal drivers which don't require Oracle client anyway - there doesn't seem to be much to tune. (AND it works OK against other DBs)
