My safari webpage initially showed the apple website, right jow the top sites is on the default webpage, how can I put back the apple website as my default?

Safari > preferences > General > "New windows open with:
Top Sites
Home page
Empty page
Same page

All webpages default to way too zoomed in

I updated Firefox yesterday and now every single website I go to is way too zoomed in. It was not like that before and it somehow has become the default zoom level. I have to manually change the zoom level each time I go to a page, refresh a page, open a new window, open a new tab, etc. How do I fix this? It's only been one day and it's getting annoying.

You can rename the file '''content-prefs.sqlite''' to content-prefs.sqlite.old (or delete) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset the page zoom on all sites.

I had Firefix, however I downloaded the newest Firefox along with all plugins. Now when I click in the desktop icon firefox refuses to open my default webpage. Why?

I run Windows 7. I downloaded Firefox 6.0 for Windows which resulted in the following which I cannot fix:

I can go to internet explorer or AOL and it opens right up to my homepage but not when I click on Firefox.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

How can I set a default for webpages to expand to full screen? Every webpage I go to does not expand to a full screen which causes me to have to ctrl+++ each time. How can I set my preference to expand to full screen automatically?

The Firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Page+Zoom Page Zoom] feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox, as with some other browsers.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension:

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Your default webpage is called shortcut or why you use this? If I'm not wrong, I think the default page is index.html or you can try to use only *^/*.

Default Mail Font ignored when using "Mail this webpage" in Safari

This is not really a problem but more of a puzzling irritant. I often use the "Mail this webpage" option in Safari (the small envelope icon in the tool bar) which opens a draft email with the then-current webpage's URL already embedded in the text area. Prior to Mavericks when using this option the draft note triggered by Safari reverted to my default Mail font already selected via Mail's preferences pane. Just as I would want it. Ever since Mavericks though, when I click the envelope icon it brings up the draft email with the URL as before, but the text font for that note defaults to Times, not my previously-selected default Mail font (Lucinde Grande just for clarity). So to stay consistent with my other email styling I have to manually click the draft email's Format button, select Lucinde Grande, and then begin typing. I can find no place in either Safari's or Mail's preferences or options where I can change the default "send an email triggered in Safari" font. Emails originated in Mail properly use the default Lucinde Grande font.
Once I go through the above and send the note, if I later repeat the same "mail via Safari" acion, the new note is again defulting to Times and I have to go through all of the above again.
A companion oddity is that when I go through this and click the Format button once, nothing happens. I click it a second time and then the font selection options are presented. This happens consistently on 3 separate installs of Mavericks in our house (two iMacs and a MBP), and it has been this way from OS 10.9.0 through the updates to the current 10.9.2. Any ideas, or anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.

This is very annoying behavior.
I have a sudo work-around, although it's really just a different set of steps. If you use the new Share button (square with arrow icon) than the resulting email consists of a url at the top and text from the page below that. The first line of the email (empty) and the url are in the default mail font. Now just delete the text that was added from the page.
I use this method because it seems like if I do it the other way the new message will sometimes go back to Times when I hit Return a couple times.

Home Hub 4 - pc webpage keeps defaulting to BT Sma...

Hi,
Been with BT about 2 months, been fine. I then changed my password on my Home Hub 4. Now every time I open a webpage on my pc it defaults to "Welcome to BT - Get on line with Smart Set Up".....which I already set up when I signed up for broadband. (I'm using a homeplug for the pc, but we've also had the problem on our mobiles.)
I have to reset the hub in the pinhole as a workaround.
Coincidence maybe??....but a lady has been ringing us to say she was ringing her new BT phone number....it was a different number to mine, but it kept ringing my phone.....& when I ring my number it rings out where?....I don't know.
I would appreciate any advice...or any words to soothe me - Thank you.

I think it was moved because your problem sounds like a crossed line, which is why your Internet has stopped.

Editing default server webpage guide?

Hi,
I am attempting to customize the default server webpage but maintain functionality. Really all I want to do is change the theme and some content here and there. I am using the server as a wiki and blog server and like the way it lists items and such. Has anyone seen a good guide similar maybe to http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/ExtendingYour_WikiServer.pdf but for the default page?

This worked for me with one note: I started by copying just the one 'xsl' file but it didn't work until I copied the rest of the files over from 'apple-templates'. I also found that the xsl files needed to be in the "Themes" folder.

When I save a webpage, the file name should default to the page title, as it does in IE. Why doesn't it, and how can I get that as default?

The current default file name appears to be from the URL.

So, we have to install an addon to get this basic bit of functionality back. I've just spent over an hour trying to work out what was wrong with some updated pages on my site - and the answer is, nothing at all. It's Mozilla's fault, like several other bits of crap that keep happening to me.

Specifying JRE version in webpage (not using default set in Plugin)

Hiya,
I'm trying to set it up so our app loads a specific version of JRE (1.4.2_12) even though v 1.5 is installed on the machine and set as the default in the plugin.
Cant change the default from being v1.5 in the plugin as it is needed by other application on the system.
Does anyone know how I can specify which version of the JRE is used if it's even possible.

Even though Firefox is my default browser, I get emails with links to webpages that come up in Internet Explorer, how do i fix this?.

My default browser used to be Internet Explorer. I use Outlook Express for my emails. My OS is Windows XP.
A few days ago, I changed my default browser to Firefox.
This morning I received an email with a link to a web page which came up in Internet Explorer, even though my default browser is now Firefox.
I would like the links to web pages provided in my emails to come up with Firefox instead of Internet Explorer which, I understand, can't be uninstalled since it is intertwined somehow with my Windows XP operating system.

Safari 7.0.6 will not save my preferences (default webpage, turn off extensions)

      I have been trying for months to get Safari to make my school website my default homepage instead of the apple start page as well as get Safari to remember the size I like my browser window. Nothing works. I can change it in preferences but as soon as I quit Safari it goes back to how it was. I have tried what others suggested and searched library for the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist and I also tried turning extensions off and it just turns itself back on (no extensions show up anyway). Am I missing something? I'm running OS X 10.9.4

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default.
