Webpage icons - gone in lieu of blue dots

Hi-
My Safari web bookmarks used to have an icon (where applicable) next to them, and are now gone, kaput. I've bookmarked a page with a known icon, and it doesn't display one anymore; just the ol' blue dot.
The help area says that Safari will display these icons, but doesn't explain how to change the option and so here I am.
How to go back to the fun icons? I miss them.
iBookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I'm quite certain that using Safari-Reset Safari does not erase bookmarks.....the icons perhaps, but not the actual bookmark links.
The warning message shown when resetting Safari is
Resetting Safari erases your browsing history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes cookies. It also removes any saved names and passwords or other AutoFill text and clears Google search entries.
Uhoh - it seems that your bookmarks have gone - but there is some other reason for it. Safari-Reset is not meant to erase them.

  • Why is there a small blue dot next to the wifi icon in my menu bar?

I just noticed today the small blue dot to the bottom right of the wifi icon in my menu bar. It was not there since I bought the macbook a couple of days ago. Just noticed it a couple of hours ago. Does anybody know what it means? Everything works fine with the wifi connection and the computer in general.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's part of your wallpaper, so don't worry about it. Your menu bar is translucent, so it's normal that you can see part of the wallpaper on the menu bar

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Inbox Icon..the blue dot

Have taken delivery of a very nice mini Ipad.....my issue is that when email drops into my inbox, it isnt marked with a blue dot to show unread..this makes seeing unread messages very difficult as they look the same as all of the read ones.....how do i get the blue dot ot appear next to unread messages ?

    Hi,
Heres another thread discussing the same issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1644711
The emails are most likely malformed spam emails.
You may be able to reconfigure the junk mail filter on the server, so that it catches these emails.

  • No webpage icons in bookmarks in Safari 5

    Hi,
    Try emptying the Safari cache.
    Command + Option + E
If that doesn't help, quit Safari. Command + Q. Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder.
Move the WebpageIcons.db file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • Why does my mail have blue dots and won't open? My Internet is okay.

My Internet seems to be working fine.  I have blue dots in front of each mail message and the messages won't send.  Help.

If you can't open the messages or send emails, you can try quitting the mail app completely as well.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the screen above the task bar.
Then go back and try mail again.

  • Blue dots not showing up anymore

    Hi,
    Follow these steps and check.
If the machine is on windows 8, then
    a)    If the system is on windows 8 then press Windows key + W, if its on windows 7 or vista, then type Devices and Printers in the search box.
    b)    Select Devices and Printer from the list.
    c)    Right-click on the device icon of the computer name and select “Bluetooth Device.”
    d)    In “Bluetooth Settings” window, check “Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area”, and then click “OK.”
    e)    If the Bluetooth icon is still not found in the notification area, reinstall Bluetooth drivers and check.

  • Application open on dock but missing blue dot

Often my application is open but on the dock the blue dot, to show the application is open, is not displayed.  Right now, Safari, Mail and Acrobat don't show the icon and in Safari's case of course it is open and active because I'm typing this in right now.

I have seen this myself,  and suspect it is a lion bug.
You can try in terminal,  copy &paste:
    killall Dock
and see if it brings it back.

  • Red circle with blue dot next to a mail message, red circle with blue dot next to a mail message

Received a mail message on my iPhone and next toit there is a red circle with a blue dot inside it. Normal messages have a solid blue dot when unread. What does the red circle with blue dot mean?

I would agree with Barney if the question had been an e-mail in the inbox but in the sent folder I still wonder why the blue dot. I also had this happen for the first time today 6/27/13. I resent both figuring it might mean the mail had not been sent properly.
No, it means unread, had you opened the mail in the sent folder the blue dot would have gone away.

  • IOS Safari missing webpage icons

Something that has annoyed me since iOS 7 launched (both iPad and iPhone) is that the Safari "new tab" page, which shows icons for favorite bookmarks, shows only generic gray or colored icons with the safari logo for certain websites rather than the sites' favicons. Is there a way to force iPad and iPhone to load the favicon for the bookmarks? Or am I stuck with looking at the gray icons?

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab.
Tick the box next to: Display images when the page opens
All of those icons are gone either when loading a website (i.e. if I go to google's homepage, the "G" is missing in the URL bar) and all of the icons are missing from my bookmarks.
    Webpage icons can get corrupted.
Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
The tilde "~" character represents your home folder.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • Why does blue dot disappear when opening mail

When I click on the mail icon to go to my "in" box, the "in" box opens properly, but them immediately the blue dots next to new, unread emails disappear and unless I noticed, I can't visually see which emails are unread.  How do I fix this so the blue dots stay until I open the actual message?

Will obviously have to ensure all video and audio is fully ready for output then add the titles and export to disc without shutting down.
Have you tried exporting a video yet?
You might be disappointed to find that the titles don't render either - even if you do export before shutting down.
So I hate to make the bug even worse without any help whatsoever ;-) but that's the state of this bug as I know it.
If you can get any titles done at all, you're seriously lucky as far as I'm concerned.
This has already been discussed in other threads. It is a really rotten series of bugs - I hope they're embarrased enough to get a fix out soon (ie before the 2012 release).
I mean, who cares about professional features when you can't use titles?

  • IPhone 5 - on a website; how to select all without dragging blue dots?

I Would like to send a pasted copy of a website as an email.  I know I can drag the blue dots but that is a hassle.  How can I easily "select all"?
    Using iPhone 5.
Not the most recent IOS if that makes difference.
    Thanks for your response.
    Bob L.

The blue dots appear when you hold your finger down for a few seconds on a word. Instead, just tap the word, and there should be options, including Select and Select All.
It might be easier to tap the share button. In the row of button at the bottom of the screen in Safari, i.e. previous and next, new tab, etc; the middle icon is the share button. Choose Mail.

  • What is blue dot next to apps on my ipad

What is the blue dot next to the apps on my iPad. I'm a novice, sorry it may seem pointless to the experienced user.thanks

        Hello goldwingryder,
I'd be happy to explain the spinning star. This icon helps to indicate when there is any network activity on your device. It also may be used by some third-party apps when they are actively being used.
    Thank you,
