Webpage not ashowing Slovaki characters...

Our customer in Slovenia. has difficulties - with our webpages. Some of their characters become questionmarks - upside-down...
A select directly on the database shows the right output. The PC client should be set up correctly.
We're using mod_pl/sql to generate the webpages, and I'm wondering if there's some kind of NLS setting here?
I've put a http sniffer of the requests - and the question marks appears here also.
Anything else, I can check`?

I am using version 4.0.1 and it was a clean install after I reformatted my hard drive and did all the updates. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with a 3.0 Ghz CPU with Hyperthreading and 2 GB memory.
On this one particular website I belong to, where a colon is supposed to be, I get this little square box with the letters FF IR in it. I have the default settings for Western (ISO-8859-1) for the Default Character Encoding.
I've asked other members of that website and they have the same settings, but they see the colon and not the FF IR.
I will include a link for the site and I don't think you have to sign up to view it and I did a screen shot for both Mozilla/Firefox 4.0.1 and Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 but in Internet Explorer, where the colon is supposed to be there is just a little square.

I know you can't help with Microsoft programs and that is fine as I only used Internet Explorer for Microsoft Updates and to download Mozilla/Firefox.
Initially the responses from the site owner didn't have any problems on his end, but another person gave me some tips but they didn't work and then we found out that it is indeed supposed to be a colon.
I didn't have this problem with earlier versions, but when I had to reformat and reinstall everything, the only version I could download from Mozilla/Firefox was 4.0.1

I'm not sure what screen shot you are referring to, but if it is in your initial reply, before you typed the thing about''' "I do not seem to have a font to display" ''' But I see the FF IR and then the FF IR with quotation marks on each side.
Then pretty much of the whole page instead of having different characters for each font set, it shows several rows of FF IR.
I did notice the same problem today with a site I belong to that I take surveys for, the whole page was filled with FF IR
If the oxFFoo - oxFFFF block, I actually went to the search function for the page the link you included brings me too and neither of them showed up so I don't know what to do. I did earlier try to do a search for how to add the : font to my Unicode and the first thing that came up was "Basic Latin" Unicode Character 'COLON' (U+003A
Someone from the website I'm having the problem with told me something about UTF-8 encoding and gave me a link to check why Firefox doesn't detect UTF-8 encoding. I checked the fonts and under UTF, it starts with UTF-16 so I guess I have to figure a way to add UTF-8.

ITunes 10 does not recognize Greek characters

Hello,
When I import Greek songs with greek characters iTunes does not recognize the characters. The song is displayed with greeklish as shown in the printscreen below (don't know how), but the album not. Sometimes the title is also displayed that way.
Any suggestions?

Download and install *Tag Converter* application from isquare's webpage-> http://isquare.gr Click the Downloads image link and you will be asked to fill in a mailform and register first (it's free). Then you will be redirected to the downloads page. I also installed the "Proofing Tools" from the same list and GRupdate 6.3. *Tag Converter corrects all Greek characters in iTunes. Very useful!*

Dynamic Text Field is not displaying foreign characters... HELP!

I have a dynamic text field that is not displaying foreign characters properly. They appear as boxes.
Here's what I've tried.
Under properties for the text field, I clicked on the embed characters button. In there, I pasted all the special characters I would need and clicked okay. Shouldn't this be enough for the text to display properly? What am I missing? Please help...

More info: I'm noticing that in the actual dynamic text field in my .FLA file, if I type a foreign character like é, it pops up as a block. My family font is set to New Caledonia... is it possible that New Caledonia doesn't have those particular glyphs? The thing that doesn't make sense to me though is, last year when I made this card, it worked fine with New Caledonia... Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Safari app not working, webpage not appearing and unresponsive. Calling all iphone 5 experts for help!!!!!!

Hi, need help. Safari app working fine until just now. Webpage not appearing and when trying to open the app, its a white page. Like you see pages, bookmark, the search tab, but when trying to press any of the buttons, it is unresponsive. When i try to go to setting to see if the problem can be fix, my safari setting isn't open either. I try going to icloud and try to turn off and on the safari data, in hopes that it would work. Nothing. I have done reseting network, and currently resetting all setting to see if this will work. I also did a soft restart, hard restart, turn on and off the phone multiple times. All other apps are responsive but safari. My itunes won't let me sync my phone and in order for me to do that, i would have to reset phone to factory setting, which would be a last option for me.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
No data is lost due to a reset.

I've updated to the last beta 2 of Flash Player 10.1 (10,1,51,66) and compiled this simple Flex application to illustrate the fact that not all chinese characters can be displayed correctly with non-embedded text (device font).

Notice that characters from the Unicode range 0x4F1E .. 0x4А2D are not displayed within <s:Label> component that uses Flash Text Engine (FTE) by default to display the text, but at the same time those characters display just fine within older <mx:Label> component that relies on flash.text.TextField instance to render the text.

    OK, did not know that "Arial Unicode MS" font is only distributed with Microsoft Office, was looking into relying on this font in case if "simsun.ttc" font is not available at the user's system, by using the following:

Tough decision ahead, but accordingly to the survey at codestyle.org (2000 participants from 2007 year and onwards), Arial Unicode MS is present at 62.53%% system surveyed.

   My current install of Windows XP already includes the install of Microsoft Office 2007 and I've also enabled/disabled the support of East Asian languages, thus the content of my "fonts" folder differs now significantly from "clean" Windows XP install version.

I have oracle 10g express edition. I am trying to load a file and for some reason when I choose my file and click next, I keep getting http 404 webpage not found. What is the reason for this? Can it be fixed?

Force show (not toggle) hidden characters and threads in script

I have been working on a script to show all the extras (for the most part). I can turn on rulers and frame edges from the DOM, but can not Show Hidden Characters or Show Text Threads from the DOM. I've been working on using menuActions, but there two is a hitch. It seems that the menuActions are only available if the menu has been accessed during the current session? Not 100% on that. There is a good comment (#10) that touches on this a bit at Indiscripts :: How to Create your Own InDesign Menus.
This method works, but again only if the menu has been previously accessed... so it's not reliable:

When you have found a menu action you can remember its ID and use menuActions.itemByID() later on to retrieve it. Most action IDs are hard wired, bound to their implementing plugin. Of course there is an exception for dynamically allocated actions, e.g. script actions.
My first attempt following you is to retrieve the action name - that should trigger the internal method to update the whole action state including checked, enabled (not applicable in this case). Of course it failed, would someone please file a bug? The translated versions of strings that you'd use for the comparison are available via app.translateKeyString().
Btw you are using the wrong string - cmd strings are used for command history as seen in the undo menu. Menu strings usually have an ampersand character to indicate the underline / Alt+Key combo in Windows.

As you found command strings, I also had a look at the undo history - it remained empty.

Probably the setting is not persisted in the document any more, someone should have removed the command strings.
Then I realized that the output of the previous lines around the invoke had changed as it was expected originally. And I had not touched the menu since restart … but I had activated the application.
One can do that with scripting too - app.activate();
A couple of restarts later this is definitely leading somewhere.
Regarding the command, I also had a second look with a debug build of InDesign: the command is still executed, but there is a flag that binds its undo to the previous command - left as an exercise to verify.
Hmm. It is stored in the persistent document preferences in a structure internally called kDocWorkspaceBoss / ITextOptions, thus should also be exposed for scripting. Back to scripting: set a breakpoint, browse thru tons of document sub-objects, and here we are:
app.activeDocument.textPreferences.showInvisibles

URL Parameters in KM Search iView not accepting spacial characters

I have created an iView that shows standard search.
When accessing the search iView, I use an url. To specify the search query, I add QueryString=[search query string] to the url.
Problem is that if my search query contains the danish characters æ, ø or å, then they are replaced with �.
I have a text field on a 3'rd party component where user input the search string, and i have tried to encode it with the javascript function escape() and this does not work either. Difference is that the search is now based on escaped characters. The iView does not seem to be able to decode the string again.

I have investigated further now.
It is the KM Search iview that does not handle encoded characteres properly.
When using the standard search function in the portal, same propblem exist.
Steps for recreation:
1) Log in to the enterprice portal using a user that has got the standard search input field and search button. Could be an administrator.
2) In the search input field, write the danish word: skål.
3) Push search button
Search result page is now opened in a new window.
Term is now presented as sk[box]l.
Having a look in the url to the new window, shows that the special character is encoded. Therefore problem is that it is not decoded in the iView.
I also found that "Note 917961 - NW04 CM & Collaboration: SP 14 Patch 5" describes that the problem is solved in patch 2 in SP14. As far as I understand the note.

Object names (object prefix + ID) must not exceed 40 characters?

Is there a limit to technical names length(object prefix + ID) in EP6.0?
The business packages certification documentation contains rule that technical names should not exceed 40 characters. Not sure why this is.

Program not responding, webpage not responding

Lately when ever I am in Internet Exlorer 9, I often get "webpage" not responding. Webpage being whatever web page I am viewing. It also does it sometimes when I am using certain programs like Word, etc. It will eventually unfreeze, but it takes a couple minutes. It never used to do this so not sure what is going on. I am running Win. Vista.

I understand your browser is displaying page cannot be displayed and you are getting freezing on your computer running Windows Vista. I am providing you with a link to an great proactive post by @Daniel_Potyrala titled How to speed up system boot time and the performance. You will see a section dedicated to Windows Vista, I would recommend that you follow the advice he provides in the post to not only resolve the freezing issue that you are experiencing, but the page cannot be displayed issue as well.
Now if the proactive post does not resolve your issue my next recommendation is to backup your personal files using the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows Vista), which will walk you through the backup process so you do not loose your personal files. After you have successfully backed up your personal files I would recommend that you follow the steps in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows Vista), which will walk you through recovering your computer back to factory settings. Over time out systems get bogged down with needless left-over bits of information that will slow our computers down. From time to time it is a good thing to back things up and start fresh.

So I solved the problem. A little history for this situation: I created a new AE project and while attempting to import a file received the error message: After Effects error: could not convert Unicode characters. (23 :: 46)
I then tried to import a Vanishing Point which broken the spell on the error message and allowed the menu to select a vanishing point to appear. I closed out of that and was then able to import files.
