Webpart Install - Very Disappointed with Sharepoint 2013

I have tried various ways to install various webparts with no success:
Using STSADM Solution Deployment - which is also being deprecated in Sharepoint 2013
Also tried Powershell
Central Administration Interface - deploying solution from there
Sharepoint Interface (uploading solution and then Webpart)
All of these methods stop at the deployment stage. I see a message that the Webpart has been added but Install-SPFeature doesn't work and the Webpart is not visible in 'Site Collection Features' to activate.
I receive an error when trying to run the 'Install-SPFeature' command: "the feature is not a farm level feature"
Then I opened VisualStudio to modify the Webpart to Farm Level scope (ridiculous!) and finally when I try to deploy and
STILL does not work!!!
I have 2 books from Microsoft on Sharepoint Administration - these do not help at all. This is terrible and I don't know how Microsoft is still the standard enterprise solution for content management systems.
Can anyone please help on this issue?

Yes, I attempted to deploy the webpart using Visual Studio. It turns out the issue was related to having 2 servers related to one farm. Adding an alias that both servers point to helped solve this. I was able to deploy the webparts (Nivo Slider and MultiTab)

Listed my 10 plus free Web Parts for SharePoint 2013 and 2010 in Codeplex and listly
do not work. The jquery libraries were not created in the correct places. I also tried both of these ways of loading the jquery libraries and they did not work.
Choose SPServices vs. the Client Side Object Model (CSOM)
I have resorted to adding the jquery script on page directly and loading it from a CDN.

Have you run it in a debugger? That will show you exactly what is happening and why.

Using office web apps with SharePoint 2013

I would like to use office web apps in our SharePoint 2013 environment. I would like to know if OWA has to have a dedicated server or can I install it on the SharePoint 2013 app server.

With SharePoint 2013, Office Web Apps cannot be installed on the SharePoint Server, it must be installed on its own server, not shared with any other IIS-based service (it essentially "takes over" IIS).

I am trying to remotely develop apps
with Visual Studio 2013. In the option What SharePoint site do you want to use for debugging your App? i put the url

First of all, i had to choose if the apps will be SharePoint-hosted or Provider-hosted apps. Based on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp142379(v=office.15).aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp142381(v=office.15).aspx,
i decided to followed SharePoint-hosted because is the only type that applies to SharePoint 2013 Foundation.
I followed the steps of http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp142379(v=office.15).aspx, which is the quide for How to:Create a basic SharePoint-hosted app. In Step 10 for deploy my app i get the following error:
Error occurred in deployment step 'Install app for SharePoint': Failed to install app for SharePoint. Please see the output window for details.
What is the problem?
Also, the visual studio need to be installed on the server where sharepoint was installed?
Moreover, do I need app catalog for testing and deploy apps?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about creating app.
Per my knowledge, the issue is caused that you don’t configure the app catalog URLs from the central administration.
It means that we should create an App site catalog site collection to hold our Apps.

Office Web Apps 2013 with SharePoint 2013 Server

Hi All,
I have installed a separate server for Office Web Apps 2013 on Windows Server 2012 VM. I have followed TechNet's article on
Deploying Office Web Apps Server & exactly followed steps.
On SharePoint Server 2013 (Windows Server 2012), I followed TechNet’s article on
Configure Office Web Apps for SharePoint. The Office Web Apps on SharePoint 2013 environment works for
Excel document that shows “View in Browser” but
no Preview.
However, PowerPoint and Word documents doesn’t show “View in Browser”. I thought Internet Explorer 10 has some issue with Office Web Apps and checked on Chrome and results were same.
On SharePoint Server 2013 environment, I have configured 3 services applications, MMS, UPS and Excel Service.
1.) Do I need any other service applications to be enabled for OWA 2013?
I read number of blogs,
Installing Office Web Apps Server for SharePoint 2013 (Steve Mann),
Install Office Web Apps 2013 with SharePoint 2013 (Max Melcher) and Spence Harbar
(Enabling Office Web Apps Preview editing with SharePoint 2013). and all these blogs give more or less same steps that I have followed.
Strange thing is that Excel documents on my SharePoint 2013 sites are working but neither word or PowerPoint documents are not showing option for “View in Browser”.
I am using HTTP and not HTTPS.
2. Can someone please advice how could I solve the Office Web Apps 2010 on Word and PPT?
3. How to can enable preview for Excel, Word and PPT documents.

@Inderjeet: That site collection feature on SP2010 works on our production environment but on SP2013 site collection there is no OWA feature. Microsoft recommends to have a separate OWA2013 server and what I create
a separate VM for OWA2013 server.
@Olafur: Your suggestion looks spot on. The OWA server does show the discovery:
Our SP2013 development server has limited RAM (4GB) and it think is causing the issue.
Let me check if increasing RAM solves the issue.

I understand as per below link that minimum three servers are required to provide high availability for Workflow Manager 1.0 in SharePoint 2013.

Very disappointed with constant updates

My Arch was working for me very well last fall I need the Aug 07 core disk with the Aug 07 core packages because floppy won't install and some other things that are messed up I'm at a point where I'm not even using Arch right now and I really need to get moving on video game development with open gl.

And finally - if you truly are "Very disappointed with constant updates", perhaps you should consider using a distro with a regular release schedule. Arch is a rolling release distro, therefore there are constant updates.

I ordered Lenovo Ideapad y410p at Dec 1st, 2013 and order information said estimate delivery date will be Dec 15th, 2013 (not shipping date).
and they send order delay email Dec 16th, 2013 which is after estimate delivery date.
How can be this happened? Even they can inform me regards to order delay at estimate ship date.
I sell my laptop at their estimate delivery date and I couldn`t work because they inform it very lately.
So I was contact Lenovo and they said they will give me concession for 5% credit back to my account after delivery.
Finally, I got new laptop at Jan 20th and I was asking them to concession, then wait. but it didn`t get for a week and I ask it again.
Then, can you believe it? I repeated it 3 times but I still didn`t get it yet.
the chat assistance said 'I don`t know why, but it didn`t processed and I can`t find record.'
At now, I feel they don`t want to give my concession. Of course, I already pay for order and they don`t have to do anything.
I`m fully satisfying with my new laptop and concession is just 5% and I don`t have to get it. however I can`t believe how can this happened.
Very disappointed with the service of Lenovo.
If anyone know how can I contact supervisor, let me know.

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

Please let us know whether the SharePoint 2010 search webservice is compatible with SharePoint 2013.
When we try to hit the SharePoint 2013 search service with the query developed in the Sharepoint 2010 , we are getting "System.Not supported" exception as response from server.

Excel web app Review tab with SharePoint 2013

Is there a way to get the review tab to show up in Excel web app with SharePoint 2013 on-prem? Users want to be able to use the "add comments" feature while in the excel web app.

That functionality isn't available in Excel Web App on-premise. I just applied the Oct 2014 CU to WAC and do not have it, so the feature just hasn't made it down yet.
You can use the "add comments" tab in excel client.
