Webparts and user in source variation site's page not propagating target site's page

Hi ,
I have issue with variation.
1) User in people picker field in source page not propagating in target page
2) Webparts in source page are not propagating in target page
No error in ULS log.

Please provide some screenshots about your issue.
Please make sure you have selected "Update Target Page Web Parts" under Site Collection Administartion->Variations.

Access enforcer and User Data Source for HR

We are on Access Enforcer 5.2 - service pack 2:
My problem is that when creating a new request in AE, I able to get a list of all users when I point my User Data Source to either SAP or UME. However when I attempt to create a request whilst pointing the User Data Source at the SAPHR system, I do not get any users back (and we have user set up in the SAP HR system).
Ive changed the connector to YES under the HR System box, Ive changed the Data Source Type and Details Source Type to point at the SAPHR and still it fails to fetch any users.
I've tried looking at the log, but can't get much out of it.
I would appreciate it, if anyone could provide any assistance.

User and group field values not propagating in Sharepoint 2013 variation

Hi,
I have a issue, we have a User and group field in my Content type and this content type is attach to Pages library.
I created one Page in source variation site and fill User and Group field with two user one is domain user and another is sharepoint\system account user.
After variation work and page propagate to target variation , there is only sharepoint\system account and no domain user in user and group field.
*****The main issue is domain user are not propagating in target variation site's fields.

Apache 2 and ~User Site folder

I recently installed Apache 2 following the helpful guide at http://www.phpmac.com/articles.php?view=244, at any rate while I have Apache running correctly, and can load http://127.0.0.1 (which displays the Apple default stuff) I cannot load http://127.0.0.1/~username. I have followed the guide, editing the httpd-userdir.conf, so I am not sure what to do. Having looked at an old Apache httpd.conf file I noticed that it had a
<IfModule mod_userdir.c>
UserDir Sites
</IfModule>
statement which is missing from the new httpd.conf, might that be the source of the problem? For example, there may be a module that I failed to install? If so a little direction would be a big help -- I don't know much about adding modules beyond "LoadModule". Any help is much appreciated!

In any case I know exactly what I'll say there.
The first is to ask what the logs say. I'll go out on a limb and say there's an error message that looks something like:
Permission denied: access to /Users/billjones/Sites/index.php failed because search permissions are missing on a component of the path.
Am I right?
If so the log message tells you what's wrong - Apache doesn't have permissions to search the directory tree to get to the document, so it doesn't know if the document exists, or whether it can serve it.
You need to add world-executable privileges to every directory in the path to the file - that means /Users, /Users/billjones and /Users/billjones/Sites
Since your other 'guest1' account works it's likely that /Users has the right permissions, so focus on the other directories.
You'll need to chmod a+x /Users/billjones in order to set the execute bit on your home directory. Then repeat it with the /Users/billjones/Sites directory.

Robohelp and Source Off Site

Because I work remotely, my co-technical writer and I share
Robohelp files by using Source Off Site, a version control product.
I can retrieve latest versions of the projects just fine...unless
I'm the user who checked them in. Then I get the "Open project was
cancelled....because of the .cpd file" error and nothing loads into
Robohelp.
So I follow the instructions for opening a corrupt HTML Help
Project (delete .xpj and .cpd and then edit .HHP) and, yes, the
project opens, but I've lost my SSLs, conditional tags, etc.
Any ideas on how to remedy this?

umbrella (any source control product, I believe) are:
.hhp
.cpd
.pss
.ldb
I don't remember where I got that from, but it seemed
important enough to write it on my whiteboard (even though we still
haven't transitioned to source control ourselves). :--)

I have role also i have deleted role in User.txt uploded file with rest of the otherdata including group it it able to create users.
so in Nut shell let's say
1. UID-Murali
Role- Manager
Group- HRGroup
user existing in DEV and i want to trnasfer data to PRD
Role:Manger should exist in PRD, and group is not mandatory optional

says while uploading users role is optional it throws waring but i got error.
i am bit confused.

If the normal restart doesn't work, and you restart on the recovery hard drive, from the choices of things to do window that appears, select Terminal, and in the Terminal window type: resetpassword and then press enter. You will have a window with the users to choose from to reset the password. Select the one you want and you will be able to reset the password, double entry of course.

I used to have link to my Norton Identity Safe on my Fire Fox toolbar which filled in the user name and password for various different sites. Now it is gone and I can't seem to bring it back. Can anyone help me with this?

I can access the feature from the Norton interface, but that doesn't make the passwords and user names fill in.

Sharepoint variations:programmatically updating/creating draft pages in variation sites.

Programmatically I am trying to update/create pages in variation sites.
The below are the two ways to propagate pages to variation site through OOTB.
1) Automatically propagating the published pages to variation sites when the “variations propagate page job definition” timer job runs.
2) User can manually click the update button under publishing tab in SharePoint ribbon for the draft version of a publishing page.
Programmatically how to update the draft pages (step2) so that the changes will be reflected in variation sites.
I tired the below, but not working.

File.update();

Based on my understanding, for the page propagation, each time you publish a source page, the variations event receiver will add an item to the Variations Propagate Pages timer queue, when the timer
job runs, it will begin executing the first 100 page propagation work items, and when you click “Update Variations” button, it will also add a work item to the same timer job queue when “Automatic Creation” is enabled, you can refer to the following link for

As for the page item, variations will copy the source page to all target sites, creating page if it does not exist, in this situation, you don’t need to update the item, the timer job will achieve
this with items not published.

Dont work dropdown list in Variation Label Menu on one variation site

Downloading and editing an existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver CS5.

Hello! New to the forums, here.
I'll try to be brief. I've got a WordPress site in-place at metalmeter.com that is hosted through HostGator. Basically, what I'm looking to do is get the site from the remote server and edit it in Dreamweaver CS5, previewing all changes on a local testing server before putting the updated contents back on the remote server.
Now, let me be clear: I've tried plenty of the tutorials. I've watched hours of videos. I still can't get it configured properly. I've got the FTP connection to the remote server running smoothly. I've got XAMPP installed. I'm having difficulties (and I apologize for being vague), and I just don't know where the problem is located. In my htdocs folder for XAMPP, I've got two subfolders 'metalmeter' for the remote server's downloaded contents, and 'wordpress' for the wordpress installation that every page seems to be pointing me toward. What confuses me is that when I try and open the uppermost index.php file on the remote server, the dynamically discovered content is not being displayed in the live view with my local testing server. I want to be viewing my existing WordPress site in its entirety exactly as I see it online while I'm editing it, and then pushing back updated files to the /public_html/ root directory of the remote server so that I can edit the site from my local client. I'm extremely new to Dreamweaver, so any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
If you know how to do exactly what I'm trying to do and have been successfully viewing and editing your existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver for upload, please take some time to explain the set-up. I'd be forever in your debt!

I agree I don't see any reason to want to edit a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver. If you are using Wordpress then you may as well put Dreamweaver in the bin. Unless you're a coding guru, you should definitely NOT touch any of the core WP files as this could cripple your site. If you want to customize your Theme, look at the CSS and include files in your Themes folder. See Anatomy of a WordPress Theme:http://yoast.com/wordpress-theme-anatomy/

For a quick tip on Theming, open your remote site in Firefox equipped with the 'Web Developer Toolbar'. Edit CSS on screen. Save changes to your local site and upload it to the remote server. No testing server required.
Wordpress is Wordpress and Dreamweaver is Dreameaver. As far as I can make out the two don't mix.
Ideally you would just choose a Wordpress theme which most relates to the nice site you have designed in Fireworks of which you won't find any however goodthe themes are. Then manipulate the themes css that's if you can understand it. Even for a seasoned css expert its heavy going because everyone produces css differently to achieve the same results.
Leave Wordpress well anlone unles you're going to use it out of the box so to speak or as a web-developer don't mind a bit of reverse engineering.

Grant read permission on List for Anonymous user for public facing site in Sharepoint 2013 Online

I have a public facing SP site ( SP online 2013 with Office 365 ). There are certain app parts added to it which read data from a
custom list created on that site. By default anonymous users do not have read permissions list. I want users to see the list data without login in . I tried modifying the settings for anonymous users , however I am unable to do it as the "anonymous user"
permissions cannot be checked by me.
How do I provide read permissions to anonymous users?

once you make the web site online anonymous users get the read access to list.
You can add the list view webpart and show the details to anonymous users. In the below link i have added the announcement list view webpart to a page.

Powershell script for removing some users from a particular Site Collection

Hi,
I am looking for a PowerShell script to delete a few users from a particular Site Collection. I am unable to delete them from/_catalogs/Users/simple.aspx page therefore need some other medium to
delete users from the site collection.
My ultimate aim is to have no user profile with "tp_deleted" field's value as 0 in the USERINFO table. Currently there are about 40 odd users with this field's value as 0 and this is affecting my crawling of this content database.

I have a content source of root site which crawls all the site collections under it. Out of the 9 site collections, only 8 are getting crawled and 1 doesn't get crawled at all. The error in the crawl logs is
The SharePoint item being crawled returned an error when requesting data from the web service. ( Error from SharePoint site: Value does not fall within the expected range. )
I tried a lot of things, searched over the net and finally found
this which helped me solve the same issue in my development environment. I deleted these users from userInfo table and ran a full crawl. And the issue was fixed.
Now since I cannot delete the users from userInfo table directly from PROD environment, I used .../_catalogs/Users/simple.aspx list
to delete users from this site collection. While some of the users I could delete, quite a few I could not. Clicking on the profile redirected me to the home page rather than the info page of the profile.
This
is why I have to delete these users from the site collection.

Search Refinement Panel webpart - filter on Content Source

Hi,
I have 6 content sources and would like the search refinement panel to be able to filter by Content
Source.
I have the refinement panel filtering for various other Managed Properties, but I'm struggling to get it to work for Content
Source.
So, for example, if my content sources were called 'Content Source 1', 'Content Source 2' etc. then then Search refinement Panel webpart would show:
Content Source
All Content Sources
Content Source 1
Content Source 2
And clicking on the filter link would refresh the page and show results only from that particular content source.
The content sources are a mixture of SharePoint and BCS databases and I have no access to modify either.
I have tried making my own 'MyContentSource' Managed Property in Search administration, but I don't know what the mappings would be.
Can anyone help?

Thanks Lisa, but scopes won't work here.
We have scopes defined already, one for each content source and 1 convering all the content sources, along with other conbinations of multiple content sources.
The scenario is this:
When I first visit the search results page, I want to see results from all the content sources so I use the scope containing all 6.
Then I want to use the refinement panel webpart to filter down to a single scope, all from the search results page.
This is something that is very easy to do using the Google Search Appliance and our company are currently choosing between it and Sharepoint search going forward. I think this will be the deal-breaker if I can't get this to work under SharePoint search.
At the moment I'm thinking that I might be able to do it using the SiteUrl or ContentType or something, along with a custom filter in the xml of the Refinement panel. Haven't tried it yet.
So along the lines of this:
<CustomFilters MappingType="ValueMapping" DataType="String" ValueReference="Absolute" ShowAllInMore="False">
      <CustomFilter CustomValue="[name of my content source]">
        <OriginalValue>[specific site url or content type maybe?]</OriginalValue>
