WebSAPConsole - sending a beep to a hand-held device!

Hi All,
I am having trouble sending a sound to a hand-held device using WebSAPconsole. I have set up all of the configuration correctly (incl. ref to Rich Heilman's blog) and when I use the transaction in IE on my PC the sound (the default alert.wav file) plays fine.
The transaction is a standard ABAP dialog transaction which is accessed through IE via WebSAPConsole on the hand-held device. The device we are using is a Teklogix 7535 running WinCE.
The problem is that the hand-held device will not play wav files! It can play standard system level sounds but not wav files. So my problem is that SAPWebConsole wants to play a wav file when I send a sound.
Any ideas? Am really here...
Thanks,
N.
PS: I'll also post in the ABAP forum.

Dear Naill F,
did you find any solutions for this problem?
I have the same problem with a windows-CE based scanner.
Thanks for your reply,
Marc,

  • Need input on Approval Process via hand held devices

    Hi All,
Need inputs on the given scenario. We have implemented Quotation Management (VA21) for our client. The quotation goes through various levels of approval (or decline) via the Workflow below it is finally given to the customer.
Users usually logs into SAP and approves (or decline) the quotation via the SAP Inbox. We have designed multiple decision process on the work item in the inbox. Alternatively users can also log in to Enterprise portal, which has been designed for them, to act on the quotation. Users are notified in their outlook mail about action that needs to be taken on the quotation.
Now user wants to have the decision process to be implemeted as such that they can take action (approve/reject) via hand held devices (viz Blackberry). We are using ECC 6 and also have Enterprise Portal EP 7EHP1. Owing to cost constraint, client cannot implement SAP CRM Solution.
If anyone of you has implemented such methodolgies or have worked on such solutions request you to get back to me with details regards to the timelines and cost and the desired process.
    Regards,
    Jayant

You could acquire software (e.g. 3i Mobile Workplace or similar) that could handle the decision processing with little effort.
If you wish to build a solution then the time/cost will depend on the complexity of the task visualization. You can create a Java client or use a simple HTML based web app.
The decision task can be visualized using a custom BSP or WebDynpro application. Communication with the BlackBerry could be via RIM push or you could just send an email with a link to your approval application.
The app would need to reserve the workitem and then complete the decision using the appropriate SAP_WAPI* RFC's.
Bear in mind that all the above assumes you are distributing the approval tasks within your corporate network supported by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and MDS.
One of the bigger issues when using web apps is authentication. By default a web app requires the user to log on using their SAP user ID and password. Using a network user ID and password or using silent authentication is possible but requires more effort.

Try contacting your local SAP office to get more information on mobile applications. SAP's offering is called Mobile Asset Management (MAM)
There are also quite a few 3rd party solutions which you should be able to find either in SAP's Partner site, or by searching Google

  • Optimum hand held device...

Hey there... I need to get a hand held device (palm or similar), nevertheless, I want to make sure the one I get is 110% compatible with my mac OS and entourage... I am pretty new with mac (although I do consider I have got the hang of it now) and when I bought my mbp I had a terrible time changing all my info from my pc... Although most of the applications stated they where 100% compatible, they actually weren't... I do not want this to happend to me again... Any sugestions? I am prepared to pay a hefty price as long as it really works and makes my "complicated" life a bit simpler...
    Thanks in advance...

MarkSpace The Missing Sync works very well for Palm. I can't say the same for Pocket PC as I've never used it.
I've previously had a Pocket PC and used PocketMac Pro. It took them over 8 months to produce a universal binary, so I bought a Palm instead.
PocketMac Pro does boast Entourage compatibility though.
Honestly, I'd get a Palm (I'm partial to the Treo 700p and the T|X, I own both and they're phenomenal) and Missing Sync. DO NOT INSTALL PALM DESKTOP, and then just use Missing Sync. I am not sure the compatibility with Entourage, but just check their website (it's great) and see what you can find.
It's a great program, I'd highly recommend it! Always remember the only device "truly" compatible with OS-X is Palm OS - Windows is made to work with windows, and you will always have SOME sort of problem with connectivity.
    Good luck with your purchase!
Edit: The markspace website says it has conduit support for Entourage 2004.

    Hi,
Once your basic settings for transaction type
(IMG Path: SAP Implementation Guide-->Customer Relationship Management
    >Transactions>Basic Settings-->Define Transaction Types)
in CRM server is in place and in 'Allowed Channels for Transaction type' you have an entry for 'PDA', then you can see the transaction type in handheld device and can raise service order from you handheld device.

  • Does any know anything about an Hand Held device that can be used for Racing Apps?

I was reading a review of one of the Racing games from the Mac App store and someone mentioned something about an Hand Held Device. Look 4ward 2 hearing back from someone soon.
    Thanx

Searching the iTunes store (where you will find the apps for handheld devices such as the iPad, IPad mini, iPhone and iPod touch) for "racing" finds a huge number of hits.
Perhaps you could be more specific as to what you are looking for?

  • Integration with hand held devices

    Experts,
My client is looking for options where the field technicians will be able to get the notifications assigned to them in a hand held device. Can someone share any options you might have considered to enable this? If yes, I will also be keen to know other purposes we can make use of such mobile devices.
    Appreciate your inputs.

    Hi,
There are plenty of options. The one product mainly useful in EAM is SAP Syclo - now merged with SMP which has ready to use apps for EAM(might need custom development based on how modified ur SAP system is from standard).
SAP Work Manager(part of Syclo) is a mobile app which works with Service Orders - http://www.sap.com/pc/tech/mobile/software/lob-apps/work-manager-app/index.html
I'm not sure whether SAP Fiori has apps for this specific scneario but worth checking out.
Another option would be to go for non-SAP mobile products or developing a mobile solution suited to your business process. But then it all depends upon the requirements and the scenario and how much you are ready to invest.
    Cheers,
    Mahesh
