Webservices and XML
Hi, I would like to know what is the recommeded technique to pass XML documents
to/from a web services. Should I convert the XML to a String?
Thanks for your help.

Use Document-Oriented Web Services. See "Programming WebLogic Web Services" page
5-6 "Implementing a Document-Oriented Web Service".

General questions about using webservices and xml as opposed to an oracle driver
Dear Experts; I have a general question which I have yet to test. Is it faster to use an ODBC driver to connect and retrieve data from an Oracle database than creating a .net webservices and using an XML to get the data for your web application. THank you
At some point in the architecture stack some component will need to access the database in order to get the information from the database. That component will need to use an Oracle client driver.

Webservices and xml schema valdiation
Hi everyone,
I have a method call thru web services, where the xml document comes as a string. I need to validate the xml document using xml schema. I have searched the xerces and dom4j apis, but couldn't find anything which allows me to validate an xml document, coming as a document, or as a string (not the location to the file system).
can anyone help with any resource site, or any code , thats going to be of great help.
thanxDOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
parser.setFeature("http://xml.org/sax/features/validation", true);
parser.setProperty(
"http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation",
"test.xsd");
hope this helps. -
What's up with Webservices and BPM integration?
According to http://e-docs.bea.com/wli/docs70/design/intarch.htm, table
3-1, webservices are a key component of the Integration architecture,
which:
"Provides sample code to support WebServices integration using
WebServices technologies
such as UDDI, WebServices Description Language (WSDL), and Simple Object
Access
Protocol (SOAP). WebLogic Integration provides the ability to invoke a
WebService
from a BPM workflow, enable a BPM workflow as a WebService, and to
enable the
Application View as a WebService. For an introduction to WebLogic
WebServices,
see the WebServices and XML Tech Track in the BEA dev2dev Online at the
following
URL:
http://dev2dev.bea.com/index.jsp"
The only thing which comes close to this description is the BPM Plugin
for webservices, which is alpha code for WLI 2.1. To deploy this on 7, I
have only seen a message here describing loosely what to do.
So is this how we are expected to use webservices together with
Integration? With alpha code that requires tweaking to work with the
current version? Or am I missing something vital? The quote from the
docs suggest "sample code", however the webservices plugin is not
provided in source, so I don't see how it qualifies as sample code?
Somehow I also don't quite understand how "sample code" can be construed
as a "key component".
So what's up with webservices and Integration?
-Lasse
(only speaking for myself in news!)Your comment about the lacking of web services in WLI is correct
and a fundamental issue I have signalled to BEA already many
months ago. I even followed the BPM course to make sure I did
not miss an important point. The BPM course did not deal with
webservices because it is not available. But the fundamental remark goes further
because webservices also have a dynamic
interface WSCI to behave within a choreography of webservices
within a business process. BPM is still mainly workflow based
and intracompany. This is not what is expected as business
processes which are collaborative and a new paradigm alternative for applications
conform BPML-WSCI or BPEL4WS-ws transaction.
I still wait from BEA a confirmation that webservices and collaborative business
processes according to (at least) one of
the above standards will be included within the next version of weblogic enterprise
platform due end of March 2002.

As of now I am using the trial versron of XCELSIUS 2008 so can I use the option of webservices and XML in the trial version if so what I need to enter in WEbservice URL for trial versions
Can any body send me the step by step process of using webservices & XML when loading the data from excel to xcelsius

On WebServices, crossdomain.xml and debug-mode
I'm building a conncetion to a remote webservice, and they
don't have a crossdomain.xml file on their server (or it is placed
badly or something).
While developing my connection has worked fine, but when I go
outside of the debug mode (actually running the swf/html from any
other folder then the projects bin-debug) and the connection won't
work. It returns no error and just seems to keep going ignoring the
request. So I looked around for a bit and managed to turn on the
trace() log file which brought the problem to my attention:
Cannot load crossdomain.xml from server, halting request. (or
something similar)
This is fine now that I know of it, I can get the server
people to add crossdomain for me. The questions I'm asking though
is:
Why does it work in the bin-debug filder?
How can I capture the "Cannot load crossdomain..." trace? (my
guess is that its generated in the flash player, and not flex
library)Understand the SandboxType of flash player before getinto this issue.
While inside the bin-debug, your sandbox type is LocalTrusted. This will allow access to external system,
When go go for the deployment it wont works, cos you sandbox type will be different (say Network with Local)

Webservice and BPM; connection AFW failed
I have created the following integration process:
1. Asynchronous receive step of a xml file;
2. Synchronous send step to invoke webservice;
3. Asynchronous send step of the response file.
In this process XI will read a xml file from a directory on the server, convert this file to a SOAP request, call the webservice and convert the SOAP response to a xml file. This file is then sent to the same server directory.
When I look in SXMB_MONI the whole process is set to ok. The response of the webservice is in the payload of the XI response message. (This is the message from my integration process to the inbound message interface.).
But the response file never reached its destination.
When I look at the file adapter monitor it reports: "Up and running - no message processing until now".
And when I look at the message monitoring, there are the following messages:

Query SAP BW via XMLA Webservice and save response to HD
Hi,
I´m currently working for an QM Project to create an Overview-page with figures from various BW-Querys. Unfortunatly the the BW-Performance isn´t fast enough to execute a lot of Querys in realtime, so I can´t use the Web App Designer.
To improve performance I want to execute those querys once a day and save the result sets on hard disk. To get the data out of the BW I want to use the XMLA-Webservice which is already running.
Is there a simple way or application to send my XMLA to the webservice and save the response on hard disk?You can use XMLA web service or the queryview web service to get the data in XML format. The queryview XML service is only available from BW 3.5, see attached documentation.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d8/3bfc3f8fc2c542e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Ther is also an How to document available for XMLA under the BW 3.0B section.
If you are looking at a report with no navigation you can use the pre-calculation of the web reports with reporting agent which will create a pre-calculated HTML output on the BW server. Everytime you access the web report the pre-calculated HTML output will be displayed and the performance is great as the data is not accessed at runtime.

XI, WebService Call, XML incoming request Umlauts go into "#"
Hi
we have following problem. We have WebService defined in XI.
Request XML file comes from external system to call WebService, and in one of the fields there is German Umlaut character. But in XI Monitoring this Umlaut is changed into "#" character.
How to achieve that Umltauts go as umlauts to message mapping?
Thank youHi Walczak,
Try using a different encoding format for the XML message, which support the German Characters.

Hi Folks,
I have been stuck with this issue for quite sometime now. I have developed a simple webservice using a java class. It looks something like this..
public class ReceiveMessageClass{
public void receiveMessage(String msg){
logIt(msg);
//Store 'msg' in a memory variable so that the JSP can ping it every 10 sec and read it..
}Now, I need a webpage to look at all the messages I recieve at this webservice. Sounds pretty easy? I have done this with Axis. I can create a WAR and my webservice and my JSP can co-exist and share a variable in memory. But with weblogic, a EAR is created and I am not sure how to get my JSP into the EAR. I am not sure how I can store this 'msg' into memory(some static vbl) and then have my JSP read it and display it.
Any suggestions?I do not see any weblogic classes in the stack trace. So could this
be something to do with tomcat?
If you are just using the client side of the web services stack, you
only need the Client.jar and webserviceclient.jar file in your war.

Call a webservice and get back a value within an ESB...
Hi!
I'd like to call a webservice and get back a value from it within an ESB. But I don't know how.
I think, I must create a routing service, then a SOAP service, but how can I get back the value from the webservice, which I called in the SOAP service?
Or it is not possible to realize this within an ESB?
Thank You very much!
ViktorWhen you take a look at the Soa Orderbooking example you can see how it works. You create a webservice that accepts certain parameters and these are bundled into an object. This object, in case of the Soa Orderbooking example a 'PurchaseOrder', is described using an Xml Schema. The XML Schema is used to create the ESB with. Using this xsd the ESB knows which object it can expect and this object can be used inside your ESB or inside a bpel process.

EncodingError when Webservice and SoapHeader
Hi All,
does anybody know a solution for this:
Call a webservice works fine without identification. But to
send Credentials I add a SoapHeader. Then I get an error #1009 The
access to properties or methods of a null-objectreference is not
allowed.
And when I debug this it all stops in a operation.as at line

764 soap = encoder.encodeRequest(pc.args, pc.headers);
catch(fault:Fault)
dispatchRpcEvent(FaultEvent.createEvent(fault));
return;
catch(error:Error)
var errorMsg:String = error.message ? error.message : "";
var fault2:Fault = new Fault("EncodingError", errorMsg);
var faultEvent:FaultEvent = FaultEvent.createEvent(fault2);
dispatchRpcEvent(faultEvent);
return;
And here is the code where I call the webservice:

My question is i m transferring this XML to a third party webservice and it does inserting into a third party application.
The problem is if you look under EnquiryAttribute tag ENQATTRIBSTRINGVALUE and ENQATTRIBTYPECODE i need this to be in lowercase.
As the xml is getting automatically generated how do i achieve this. I feel them in the uppercase is causing problems at the other end.
Any help appreciated
