Websharing (apache) error missing /usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib
My webserver wouldn't start up under lion, it said I was 'missing' /usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib
I looked at my iMac mini server running lion and noticed that /usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib was a symbolic link to /usr/lib/libpq.5.3.dylib
So, I did the following:
as root# cd /usr/lib
sh-3.2# ln -s libpq.5.3.dylib libpq.5.dylib
It's as happy as a clam.. so am I.
I'm having this problem too.
I upgraded from the mplayer-1.0pre8 version and upon installing mplayerOSX-1.0rc1 whenever I try to run any of my .avi files I get this:

For all the problems I've been having I wish I hadn't upgraded. Can't seem to get the old version to work anymore either.

[SOLVED]Missing /usr/lib/libgssapi.so when using conserver client
With newly MIT krb5 in [Core] repo, everything I using console ( the client of conserver: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=27856), I got a compain about missing /usr/lib/libgssapi.so error.
I recompiled it, but not work.
Manaully create a link from /usr/lib/libgssapi_krb5.so will solve this problem.
But still confusing about why recompile the software don't goes to correct lib file.
Anyone can give me a clue?

Hello,
After trying to change my printer settings on CUPS administrator area to allow to share my wirelless printer to my VirtualBox environment (somehow virtualbox doesn't detect my wirelless printer) I notice that this area stop to work. After it I try to update the CUPS by installing a new version. I admint that I am a newby in unix environment and I downloaded the CUPS v1.6.1 and installed through the terminal,
./configure
sudo make
make install
After restarting apple site no longer opened like also my home page. Other programs also stopped working and always warn about the same error described bellow. I posted my last try which was reinstall my system Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8). Does anyone deal with this problem before? How can I reinstall at least the operation system or just fixing this library will solve the problem?
Note: The reason of using virtualbox is that I need to use a prescribed software that only works in windows environment and since I need to make work in other places the wireless printing is the only viable way to do this.

I had the same problem with my Mac OSX System 10.8.4 after update cups from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3.
I have a MacBookPro with the same system version and copy the libcups.2.dylib file form /usr/lib/ then replace the error file in my other Mac.
1. Install cups 1.6.2 again
2. Replace the file libcups.2.dylib in /usr/lib/ directory with this one libcups.2.dylib
Note: I added the link if you dont have an other mac in the same version available.
This works for me. -

Hi,
I've just installed a Solaris 9 and gcc-3.4.2 (from sunfreeware.com) on a Sun Blade 1500.
#uname -a
SunOS dove 5.9 Generic_117171-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1500
Upon running my application, a runtime error occured.
ld.so.1: CMC: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/librt.so: symbol priocntl: referenced symbol not found
I've traced my code to were it had encountered a problem. It seems that the error occured whenever a pthread_create() function is executed.
Originally my application was developed under a Solaris 8 environment. No runtime errors occured during that time.
I think there's a problem with the Solaris 9 /usr/lib/librt.so.1 file.
Could you please help me.
I deeply appreciate it.hi, take a look at:

Itunes won't start up - can't find usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib
Hi,
I had to reinstall the OS 10.3.9 on my ti-book. I did an archive and install, but now iTunes won't start up. Console says it can't find this dynamic library:
usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib
Since I have a lot of my songs in my personal lib on this machine, and podcast susbscriptions, etc - I don't want to lose them if possible.
Is there a way to just install this lib, or will I have to reinstall iTunes altogheter?
I searched for the above file, but can't find it on the disk.
thx.
'markDo you have any iTunes plugins? You may want to get rid of them and try again.
Also, have you tried removing the corresponding com.apple.itunes.plist files from <youraccount>/Library/Preferences, logging out, logging back in again (or rebooting) and then relaunching iTunes? I don't think an archive and install will refresh this file for you. Nor will reinstalling iTunes. -
Repair /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
The /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib is corrupted. Where can I download one copy?
PowerPC macosx 10.4. Thanks in advance. That library is also updated as part of Security Update 2008-004. Your post says you're at "10.4", but it's not real specific as to the minor version number (i.e., 10.4.0, 10.4.9).
If you're at 10.4.11 (and especially if you've already done that security update, perhaps via the Software Update menu item), you can download that update and re-apply it. Or use Pacifist to extract it from that update.
Otherwise, as iBod says, you can get it with Pacifist from your install disc. Just make sure you re-apply any updates you had applied before, like OS updates or security updates, so you get a current one for your system.

Anyone can help me tracing in which package the missing file is located (if it's not in compiz-core)?
Last edited by dexgeh (2012-10-16 17:58:39)I managed to solve the issue commenting the --indirect-rendering flag and installing and launching driconf to create a default ~/.drirc file.
I just noticed that in the same upgrade I got intel-dri from 8.x to 9.x version, maybe it's related.
Launching a terminal in .xinitrc and manually launching
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose compiz --debug --replace ccp
show me a lot of errors, but it's working, and I don't need anymore the --indirect-rendering flag (in the past I put that flag in the command because of the bad performance that compiz had without). -
I've just tried to install the stable "google-chrome" package from AUR with the command. I have all of the dependencies already installed except for these two:
- libjpeg6 (building from AUR)
- libpng12 (package found)
When the package manage tries to install "libpng12-1.2.43-1", I get the following error:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
libpng12: /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
According to the file manager (Thunar), the file /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 is a link to /usr/lib/libpng.so.
This is probably a silly question (as I'm a clueless newbie!) but... can I just delete this link and expect the installation of libpng12 to replace it so that everything will still work...?
Thanks in advance :-)

A tip: run pacman -Qo on the file in question, either you put that symlink there yourself or strange things are happening on your system. -

IIRC, I had to make a symbolic link with libgmp.so.1 a long time ago, but not too sure. Any help appreciated, thankshi, take a look at:

Missing /usr/lib/ what can I do??!
Don't tell me how,But I accidentally deleted the /usr/lib/ folder...now every command I run obviously fails because some lib is missing...Is there a way I can recover the lib folder? apart reinstalling linux -.-
Apart from restoring your backup, obviously, you could try booting from an Arch install disc/usb and using the --dbpath and --root options of pacman to reinstall all the packages you've got in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/.
Edit: I've never done that. And you could also try some undelete utility, of course.

Relocation error : /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2
I am facing this error message whenever I launch mailx program. The error is as following : "/usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found".
What do this error indicates? Does it require patches? Thanks in advance for all help.Hi mate,
I also have received the same error after adding a patch (to solve the DNS cache poisoning) using the -u "unconditional" option :
patchadd IDR138959-01
Checking installed patches...
ERROR: This patch requires patch 109327-22
which has not been applied to the system.
Patchadd is terminating.
# patchadd 109327-22
Checking installed patches...
ERROR: This patch requires patch 108994-27
which has not been applied to the system.
Patchadd is terminating.
when i tried to get the 108994-27 patch from sunsolv web site I found that this patch is deleted from their DB and considered withdrawn:
So I decided to use the unconditional method (-u) option to force the patchadd command to install the 109327-22 patch:
+
# patchadd -u 109327-22
Checking installed patches...+
Verifying sufficient filesystem capacity (dry run method)...
+Installing patch packages...
Patch number 109327-22 has been successfully installed.+

Patch packages installed:+
+ SUNWarc+
+ SUNWcsl+
+ SUNWcsr+

# echo $?+

after this step the error message starts when i tried to test the old BIND 8.1 server as follow:+
# ps -ef|grep named+
root 2643 744 0 08:47:43 pts/5 0:00 grep named
root 728 1 1 08:35:48 ? 0:09 /usr/sbin/in.named
# kill -HUP 728 --------->TO RELOAD THE BIND 8.1 server
# kill 728 -----------> TO KILL THE BIND 8.1 SERVER
# /usr/sbin/in.named --------> TO START THE BIND 8.1 SERVER
ld.so.1: /usr/sbin/in.named: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found+
Killed+
Backing out (removing) the latest patch 109327-22 (that has installed unconditionally using the -u option) solved the problem see:
+
# patchrm 109327-22
Checking installed patches...
Backing out patch 109327-22...

SUCCessfully starting BIND 8 after removing the 109327-22 patch,
+but to be able to install original and the most important patch IDR138959-01
I re istalled this path unconditionally agin:

I then killed the old BIND8 process (root 3608 1 1 08:54:47 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/in.named)
kill 3608
any attempt to start BIND 8.1 again will produce the same ERROR:
ld.so.1: in.telnetd: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found
i did not care because i decided to use the new BIND 9
but
after i rebootet the server (init 6)
and try to connect to it remotly using telnet:
telnet ns1
the login screen shows the same error message as follow:
ld.so.1: in.telnetd: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found
connection closed by foreign host.
the bind 9 is working no problem but I can not login to the srver using telnet as described above
shall i try to remove the 109327-22 patch?
but I am afraid that this may damage my new BIND 9 installation!!
any help to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
