i just installed the latest available php5/Entropy on 10.6.2.

the package was released end of july last year (req. 10.5.7), and i guess this was a bad idea.
now, my local webpages can't be displayed anymore:

Freehand import of CS5 broken after installing CS6

Hello,
on my windows 7 machine my freehand import of Illustrator CS5 and CS4 is broken after installing cs6 creative cloud.
I can still select a freehand file to open and the dialog box appears, but after choosing OK nothing happens. No file opens and no error appears. It doesn´t depend on the freehand file because my other machine with CS3 can still open these files.
What can i do to repair illustrator? - it´s part of a master collection install.

Adobe has dropped support for Freehand import in CS6. You will have to either use an older version of AI and then save it to AI or open them in Freehand and then export to a format that AI can import.

Printing to PDF broken after installing a font manager

I'm currently trying to figure out why after installing Extensis suitcase printing to PDF is broken. I have tried the following fixes that I have seen so far
I have gone into distiller and removed the other font locations in there and just supllied windows\fonts
I have gone into control panel regional and language optionss and checked the install files for complex script
I have gone into pdf printing options and unchecked the rely on system fonts only
I have also gone through and removed and readded the windows font files. However if the adobe fonts are removed it makes the distiller window huge and can't be restore even with removing and reinstalling acrobat.
Using the above I have gotten two pc's to work but the third continues to give me the following error.

I am not very good at reading the Distiller error message. However, it is saying a font can not be found. Temporarily, go into the job settings file and select warn and continue or ignore for the embedding fonts warning. The default typically is set to fail. After you get a PDF, check to see which font is giving you problems. The fonts have to be included in Distiller or you will get this error and failure of you do not have one of the first two options selected. Don't know if that will help, but it is something to look at.

After installing Yosemite on both my Macs, all home network operations between the apple devices has gone south. Browsing folder on remote computer, transferring files between the computers - either via finder or through shared libraries on iTunes - everything is now crawling or simply stuck.
I thought my router may be the problem, but the Windows machine is working just fine when copying files to and from a Mac device.
Any solutions out there please?

Audio Codec Broken after Installing

Hey Community,
Sooo i've installed Premiiere Pro CC on my Laptop together with Media Encoder CC.
And now (i think) some audio codecs have gone crazy. If i play a video the sound is VERY weird, it's like you loop the audio of the first 3 frames for the whole video.
After this i uninstalled PP CC and ME CC. But the audio is still broken...
I do not know how to fix this, anyone got tips?

Unfortunately, iTunes forced the upgrade on my C:\ Drive where I even had an installation of iTunes!! I had it on another drive!!
Deinstall versions on both drives an install complete on the right drive!!

[Solved] Bumblebee broken after installing systemd

Hi Arch Users!
I recently wanted to give systemd a try and made the switch using the Arch's Wiki as a guide. Everything was fine except when I tried running VLC through Bumblebee.
First error from optirun was that it could not connect to Bumblebee demaon. To which I did this:
yaourt -R bumblebee
yaourt -S bumblebee-systemd
systemctl enable bumblebee.service
After reboot the error was it could not load the GPU's drivers (I may be wording this wrong as I cant recall the exact phrasing). Since I recently updated the kernel, I thought it will be a good I idea to re-install Nvidia's drivers. So I did this
yaourt -S nvidia-utils-bumblebee
yaourt -S nvidia-bumblebee
Now I get a new error and do not know how to proceed from here on. The error is:

It may be purely coincidental that when I switched to sytemd that I see these errors and may well be the updated kernel. My observation is bumblebee was working yesterday and after I made a few system changes today (some that is irrelevant to this problem) bumblebee broke. The changes were
1. Changed to systemd
2. Changed to grub2
3. Updated kernel.
Any help are on this will very much be appreciated.

I had used to enable sna instead of uxa, now I'm back to uxa but bumblebee work fine.

Acrobat 8.0 broken after installing update 8.3.1

I have Acrobat 8.0 installed on my PC. I downloaded and installed update 8.3.1. Now, after I launch Acrobat, it only stays active for about 10 seconds then dies. I tried the Acrobat repair option but that does not correct the problem. What else should I try?

Software Images page in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 broken after installing patches

Earlier today we installed PI 2.2.1 POODLE Fix ( 1.0.0 ) and PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release ( 1.0.0 ) on CPI 2.2. After reloading we get status 404 when navigating to Inventory > Device Management > Software Images.
Also found this error in Developer tools in Chrome:
Error: Unable to load applications/swim/jsp/ImageRepositoryTable.jsp?id=/ status:404
Does anyone know how to fix this?

filed for the issue. Please keep up with that bug for resolution.

Net 1.1 apps broken after installing ODP 10.2.0.2.21

The .net 1.1 app, build in Borland/CodeGear's tool, shows a configuration complaint from asp.net (below). Two machines that just got this version of ODP are showing the same problem.

Can one run VS 2005 with the production 10.2.0.1.0 version of ODP?
Yes, as long as you don't try to use any ".NET Framework 2.0 stuff" in your application this works fine.
When I say "fiddle with stuff" I had to change my system path in order to avoid .dll mismatch type errors. So when I wanted to use the beta, I would change the system path so it was first, then I would change it so the production home was first if I wanted to use that version, etc. I also have non-public beta software installed, so my machine is not "typical".
I do remember running the production 10.2 with Visual Studio for awhile before the beta came out... now I do think you need the beta to use the Oracle Developer Tools for VS2005. Most of my development efforts are ASP.NET based (I'm really a DBA by day), and since there is not much support for ASP.NET in ODT, this was not a big consideration for me.

You will have to repair your OS X installation. Shut down your Mac. Disconnect ALL peripherals connected via USB or Firewire. Start your Mac by pressing the power button. As soon as you hear a chime, press and hold Command+R simultaneously, until you get to the Recovery screen.

Once there open Disk Utility and select your boot drive from the left pane. On the bottom right you will see 'Repair Disk'. Click that and let it finish. You should also repair permissions while you are there. After all complete, quit Disk Utility. Then there is an option to Reinstall OS X. This will repair your installation. Let it complete and follow the prompts until it asks you to restart your computer.

I have the same kind of problem.
My E530 ran well for about one month. Now I installed Windows 8 Enterprise as multiboot.
On the first weeks everything still went well, but since one week Windows 7 occasionally takes 5-6minutes to boot, showing a black screen with just the (movable) mouse pointer.
On three or four occasions the same error message appeared.
Now and then the system boots up normally, but eccinfo shows:

Both my Windows 7 and 8 are Enterprise editions, but none of them has Bitlocker or any other encryption software activated.

And, why can't I install Intel acceleration software, since the chipset should the genuine intel SSD acceleration software?

One probably better option, if your PC already came with a factory Windows 8 installation, is to use the built-in tools in Windows 8: Refresh or Reset. No install disk is required!
•REFRESH - Gives the OS a refresh but leaves all your files and settings untouched. Apps downloaded from the Windows Store will be kept but other applications will be lost.
•RESET - Resets everything; all installed apps, applications, files, and settings are junked and the system is back to a fresh install.

Spotlight keyboard shortcut broken after installing 10.10.1

Command-Space is no longer bringing up Spotlight. I've tried restoring default keyboard settings, disabling/enabling Spotlight, rebooting my machine, no luck.
Anyone know a fix?

For the first time, I needed to do start in Safe Mode on this exact iMac and came across your unanswered question when trying to figure it out.
You cannot restart into Safe Mode, you need to shut down. Hold shift right after you hear the chime. There's also a command line option here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
It took an uncomfortably long time and I cursed myself for not running a current backup, but let's hope it solves my impossible to solve wake from sleep problem.

Cannot print to HP LaserJet 1020 after installing Reader XI 11.0.03

After installing the Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 update, I cannot print to my old, reliable HP LaserJet 1020 from Acrobat Reader and many other applications at all. Am using Win 7 64-bit. Also have Acrobat 7 Standard and PDF-Xchange 4.0, both of which have become semi-broken after installing the Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 update as well.

One of the things I have experienced in the past with printing PDFs is that it would hang in the print queue. There is a manual method of deleting the print documents in the print queue. But the issue is printing PDF documents that are scanned in and has maybe highlighted text or handwritten notes on the PDF. The printer driver can render it correctly if printing the PDF as a text document. What you have to do is change it so that it prints as a PDF image instead.
To print as an image, open the PDF then click File then click Print. Click the Advanced button on the following window that pops up and select the check box "Print as image".
Now to clear your print queue will be key prior to doing this if the print job is hung in the print queue.

MAX 14.0 broken and database corrupt after installing LV2014 and latest device drivers

I have LV2012 and 2013 (both 32-bit) installed on my Win8.1 64-bit system and have used them without problem. I recently went through the agony of installing LV2014 32-bit from Dev Suite 2014 DS2 and the latest device drivers from the August 2014 DVD, and now MAX (v14.0) does not work. Firstly, it is slow to populate the System information display, secondly when I try to expand a tree I get a MAX Database Connection Error (see attached), and there is no software listed at all. Thirdly, devices are not listed properly even though appearing in Device Manager (eg. a CAN interface no longer lists CAN0 but does show the device but no configuration, same for USB DAQ devices I(see attached), and I do have CAN 14.0 installed), and there is nothing under Data Neighborhood.
Initial attempts to install LV2014 were prevented by the NI mDNS Responder and related services not stopping when required by the installer. This also affected attempts to repair MAX.
All 3 versions of LabVIEW run OK, but projects no longer include remote or RIO/FPGA hardware - possibly due to uninstalled support software - but without the software list in MAX I cannot tell what is and isn't installed.
I have performed a Reset Configuration Data, repaired MAX several times, uninstalled it (any all dependencies), turned of the firewall and virus software, and completely reinstalled LV2012, LV2013, LV2014, and device drivers, but with no change to the problem. I have now lost 2 whole days and I am getting desperate for a fix. Surely this cannot be the only case of this in the whole world.

As for your installation errors:
This error happens when a service gets hung up in a "stopping" state that does not allow the installer or uninstaller to remove it. This can happen with a number of different services, but it has appeared to happen mostly with the Lookout Citadel Server (lkcitadel server) and National Instruments Time Synchronization (lkTimeSync).
-To resolve the issue, open up the Services application by going to Start»Run and typing "services.msc" without the quotes. In the window that opens, find the service that the error message references. It will usually have a status of "Stopping."
-Double-click on the service to open the service's properties window as seen below.
-Try clicking Stop to stop the service. If this does not stop the service, set the service's type to Manualand restart the computer. It is safe to set the service to Manual because it will be started manually if it needs to run. After the restart, the service will not start automatically and you will be able to install or uninstall your software as necessary.
As for the devices not being visible have you downloaded the NI DAQmx drivers correctly(after installing LabVIEW).

[SOLVED] nfsroot install broken after kernel upgrade 3.5.6 to 3.6.2

It seems my nfsroot installations have broken after the kernel upgrade to 3.6.2.

It looks to me like the client is sending the mount request, the server accepts and then for some reason the client thinks it has failed. I can't even see anything strange in the wireshark traces comparing the working client (3.5.6) to the broken one (3.6.2).
Anyone else using nfsroot successfully with the latest kernel?
Any other ideas?
(by the way - despite my directory names, this is using nfs v3 for the rootfs)
