Website appears with strange letters
After uploading my website, I find that a lot of random (or not) 'Â' or '’' appear in boxes and between words.
See www.tobyandpip.co.uk for evidence.
They do not appear in iweb and do not appear on PC browsers.
Any ideas why this is happening?

The country you select there has to match the billing address. And your billing address should match the country of your AppleID and credit card used with the AppleID.

My ipod doesn't appear with the letters that split up each letter songs, how do i fix it??
so you know how when you go to music and tap songs. well mine does that but what does not appear on the screen is those letters that divide each letter group of the alphabet. you know it has all the songs starting with the letter a in one place divided by a border letter "A" etc. please help i think its a settings problem not sure, thanks.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Trigger appeared with strange name

Suddenly we get this error when updating a certain table:
ORA-04098: trigger 'AM_DEV.BIN$our4yawU287gQBMKOxY2NA==$0' is invalid and failed re-validation
I see this trigger listed in user_triggers, but deleting fails:

I tried single quotes first and got an error.
I guess I have to learn more about quoting...If you have database objects created without double quotes then they are automatically converted to UPPERCASE when stored in the data dictionary...

no rows selectedIt is always better to create your database objects without using double quotes, especially if you use anything but UPPERCASE, because if it contains any lower case letters then any developers trying to access those tables need to know the case of the object and always need to specify it in double quotes. It's a pain in the @rse, so best avoided.
Of course we can't help that Oracle uses mixed case for internal reasons, such as dropped objects in the recyclebin. -
Creating computer Names with small letters and they appear as capitals in Active Directory Domain

When I try to create computer objects in Active Directory - namely when i change computer name with small letters, in active directory users and computers they appear as capital letters and in DNS console as well.
I know that it's not a problematic issue and technically all goes fine but, i want to know the reason.
Is it possible to change computer name with small letters while joining in the domain and than in AD it appear with small letters also ?
Thanks in advance,If you are asking about during the client join process, I believe the machines do all caps and you have to accept that as default. I'm guessing it is a legacy issue for older clients that has hung on such as possibly related to WINS.

After allowing my iMac updating about 80 apps, the process did stop whilst installing new ver. Xcode jan. 2013 - the iMac did reset and a gray screen appears, with white letters: 0 space on Harddrive! It wasn't any sign the harddisk had not space enough, to complete the update - until the reset occours. For us and our little company a catastrophic event.
After inserting the original Snow Lepard Install Disk, the Diskmanager shows no error. No test shows any sign of error in Software. Freeing some of the empty space shows 12,5 Gb.
Perhaps this is a new kind of error happen with this combinations of the new versions of Apps and Xcode...?
Perhaps it's a know problem. I will be truely happy when finding a solution in this community.

You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple. -
When typing into forms, such as filling out a contact sheet on a website, my first few letters will not appear when i start typing. For example, if I wanted to type "explanation", i might end up with "laxation". This happens in all browsers.
If i backspace everything and start typing again in the same area, it will work properly the second time.
I am using a ~7 month old macbook air with mavericks.
Any tips to get rid of this issue would be greatly appreciated.1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a few minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.

If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test will take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Tecra S2: strange dots on screen appearing with no reason and at random
Hello,
I have a Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop for almost a year now.
I formatted it 2 months ago and when i did this. i had stranges dots on my screen, appearing with no reason and at random. I dont have a clue where it came from and i decided to format my computer again.
I've installed the latest chipset driver from the intel website and then i've installed the latest driver from the toshiba site.
I've noticed the problem is back. so that didn't solve anything. What can I do about this?

When you say that you formatted your notebook, did you completely re-install the operating system from the recovery discs ? If you did then the display should work correctly.
If you installed the operating system from Microsoft discs then you will need to download the correct Toshiba drivers for your Tecra from the Toshiba web site download page.

I bought a few songs on itunes but the songs appear in grey letters and I cannot transfer them to my iphone. I've bought/rented TV shows/movies since so there isn't an issue with my account. How can I get these newly purchased songs onto my iphone?
You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.

How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.

Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
*UPDATE (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.

0 B Page-outsThanks, I'm typing this message from an external keyboard borrowed from one of my schools iMac. It is working fine so could this be a serious hardware issue? I upgraded the RAM from 4 gb to 16 gb thinking that would solve the slowness/beachball issue but it didn't. Could it possibly be a faulty SATA cable or time to upgrade my hard drive as well?
I'm feeling like this is beyond my reach and do not want to damage my MBP further. I'll shut it down and take it to the tech store on campus and hope they have mercy on my wallet. Thanks for the help. -
I have ipad 2. Safari stopped working. Screen appears with light gray cover and is frozen. Some websites show errors when debug is on.
But how actually can I debug or fix it? Thank you.Here are a couple suggestions:
1. Go into Settings > Safari and Clear Cookies Clear Cache
2. Fully close Safari: from your home screen, double tap your home button and the most recently used Apps will show up. Hold your finger on the Safari App until all Apps start jiggling. You'll see a minus sign on the upper left side of Safari. Touch the minus and Safari will fully close. Touch your home button again to stop apps from jiggline, then touch your home button again to return to your home page.
3. Reboot your iPad: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart, but no data or settings will be lost.
After iPad comes back up, try Safari again, and you should be good to go. -
Text with the letters of NO and TM sometimes display them as superscript.
On some web pages, words that start with the letters NO or include TM have part of the word displayed as superscripted. For example, if the sentance starts with the word None, then the No part of the word has the o raised and underlined like it is an abbreviation for the word number. A part number like STM32F103 will have the letters TM raised as if it were an abbreviation for the word trademark.
I've tried setting different fonts, and found that specifically setting a font while not allowing the site to override it avoids the problem. Unfortunately some sites use characters that I just can't identify, so I normally run with the option to allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of using fixed fonts.
On ebay, for one example, I have the problem with the superscripted characters. I've tried using Google Chrome as a comparison, and have found that the pages display correctly with Chrome but not with Firefox. Doing a Google or Yahoo search gives me a results page that does not have the superscripted characters.
Is there something I am missing in the configuration of Firefox that is causing this? I kind of need the sites to select their own fonts, because otherwise I end up with some very odd looking pages (even stranger than having NO or TM displayed wrong).Using the inspector helped. What it showed me was that the Nimbus Sans L font was being used. While I had that font in the default/Type1 directory of /usr/share/fonts, it turns out that I also had a copy of that font (from somewhere) in my local ~/.fonts directory. Deleting the extra copy of the font corrected that problem.
To help me with that I used the fc-list utility and grepped it to the Nimbus font. It pointed me to the local .fonts directory for that specific font. All other fonts appeared in the /usr/share/fonts directory. I didn't even realize I had setup a local font back in 2012...
Thank you for pointing out to use the inspector. It gave me the information to duplicate the font problem with both Thunderbird and Libre Writer. -
Items in the shopping cart appear with different price than in the catalog
Hi All,
We are running SRM 5.0 (Classic Scenario) with external catalogues.
After selecting items from the external catalogue and transferring them to the shopping cart, the items appear with different price(the problem exists in the productive system)
The strange thing is that there is no dependence or sequence between the differences. For example, in one shopping cart, one item is with correct price, the price of the other item is not correct (when I click on the icon which is showing item details in the catalogue, the price is different than the one in the shopping cart). Sometimes the difference is significant, sometimes not - if the item price in the catalogue is 22.34 EUR, in the shopping cart is 21.22EUR or if the item is 45.62EUR in the shopping cart is 45.60 EUR. There is no logic.
I tried to create a shopping cart in the support system, with the same items from this catalogue, and they are sent back in SRM with the correct prices.
I traced all OCI parameters, sent from the supplier catalogue, and everything is correct.
At the example given below the price in the shopping cart ordered in the productive system is 69.00CZK, and after that during the test the correct price of 73.870CZK has appeared.

I checked the error log in SLG1 for BBP_OCI, and no error message exists. In my opinion the problem can be in supplier system, because otherwise all items will be with wrong price. And at the moment, there are shopping carts in which all items are with the correct price!
It is not something in the user profile, because in one shopping cart created by one user some items are correct, some of them not.
I also checked with the supplier, they said that they haven't change the price, recently.
Has somebody of you met this problem?
In the IMG-> Define External Web Services (Catalogs, Vendor Lists etc.) I have set all parameters for the standard call structure: the URL of the supplier, our company ID and password for their catalogue.
In the Detail view for the catalogue, the following parameters are set

- Validate product data from SAP Enterprise Buyer
- Find supply sources

DesiThat means that we are not maintaining material numbers in SRM, so there are no predefined price or info records for that materials in R/3 system, or in SRM.
In the set up of external catalogues, validation of the price is set. Which means that, if a new shopping cart is created from already existing one, and meanwhile, a change of the price is done by the supplier in the catalogue, the new item price will be adopted in the shopping cart.
No prices are maintained in the SRM system, everything is from the supplier catalogue.

I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list. I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.
After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.
