Website aspirations

Hi, I have recently built my own website using Iweb with the domain name bought from weekly. I am looking to have a read only calendar on the site showing potential clients days I am free. I tried publishing a new calendar through my mobile me family account, but every time i tried to view this on safari, it kept opening my own personnel calendar. My friend tried accessing the calendar link using window 7 with no success. Am I expecting to much from iWeb and mobile me?
I would also dearly like to prevent anyone using my photos, is there a way of embedding these to prevent them being used?
Finally, I have created a mail link to a mobile me account withinnmy family pack, however when you click on this, the adressee is to my own personnel mail account.

In iCal you can create multiple calendars. And any one of those can be published online. You just have to select the particular calendar to publish and then embed that one in your iWeb page like in this demo p;age: iCal calendar .
Consider Ethmoid's suggestion of a Google calendar because when you embed it in an iWeb page you can scale it to any size you require like here: Google calendar.
Not so with an iCal calendar. It has to go in full size. There is an application that will let you sync your iCal calendar to your Google calendar so you can do it all from iCal. It's discussed on the demo page I linked to.

  • Install Windows 8.1 Pro on Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591

Hi forum, I recently bought the Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591 and I noticed that it only comes with the Core Edition of Windows 8.1. As I need some of the features of the Windows 8.1 Pro Edition (joining domains, remote display etc.) I would like to upgrade the System to Windows 8.1 Pro. I still have an unused Pro retail key (no OEM, no Upgrade Pack) here so at the moment I'm downloading the ISO for Windows 8.1 Pro. But prior to installation I would like to make sure that everything works out fine and I don't run intro problems. First of all: is there anything I need to save from the old OS (except from the recovery partition- I already saved that to a USB drive using the recovery program provided by Acer)? Do I have to know my Product Key (using for example a key viewer software) just in case? Do I have to disable secure boot in BIOS? Second: can I just install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website? Drivers should still work, right? Third: if I ever want to switch back to Windows 8.1 Core (the OEM edition) do I just use the USB pen drive created with the acer recovery tool? Will my retail Windows 8.1 Pro Key be usable again if I switch back to the original OS? Sorry for asking that many questions but I just have to make sure that it runs trough right in the first place because I need the Laptop to function. What would be your standard procedure to this kind of "problem"? Thanks in advance and with regards,The_DJ  Edit:I might have forgotten to mention that I want to do a clean reinstall without all the bloatware from Acer. That's why I'm using the Windows 8.1 Pro "Vanilla" ISO and if I ever want to switch back to core use the Windows 8.1 Core "Vanilla" ISO. Is that possible or would I have to use the recovery partition saved to my USB drive?

Changing the Operating System may cause driver conflicts. The compatible drivers for Windows 8.1 will not be available in the website for this laptop. Hence, some of the features on the laptop might not work after changing the OS.  1: Since you have already created the USB recovery media from the laptop, you do not have to copy anything else other than this.  Make sure you you backup all files before installing the OS, as it will remove all data from the laptop. I see that, you have the unused Pro retail key for the OS, hence, you do not have to have the OEM product key. You need to use the product key for Windows 8.1 Pro to activate it, not the Acer OEM product key.  In the BIOS, select BOOT tab.  Select BOOT MODE as Legacy Mode instead of UEFI.Disable Secure Boot. Under Boot Priority Order, you need to select 1 as CD/DVD (if you are using disc), or USB FDD or USB HDD (if you are using USB drive) to install Windows 8.1 Pro.  Then press the F10 key and select "Yes" to save the changes in BIOS.  ->You an install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website. As said before, there may driver conflicts.  -> If you want to switch back to Windows 8.1, you may use the USB reovery drive (which created you have created from the recovery partition). When you do this, the Windows 8.1 Pro and it's product key will be removed from the laptop and the factory shipped OS, drivers, apps (and the OEM product key) will be installed automatically. You do not have to use the Windows 8.1 Pro key with Acer OEM USB reovery media.  -> You need to do a clean install using the USB recovery drive to install factory shipped Windows on the laptop.

  • Best Buy Website Not Working?

    Hi there,
Over the past 4 days, the Best Buy website has forced me to update my password _each time_ I want to log into my account. I successfully updated my password again today and tried to purchase a few things. When I tried the Paypal link the page went blank. I closed the brower, deleted history and cookies and tried again. And now it wants me to change my password again.  As an Elite customer, this really looks bad on your website.
I buy plenty of stuff off of other websites, so I don't think it's me.  Can someone check to see if something is going on and fix the site? I'm getting frustrated.
    Thanks!

    Hello bkat,
I'm disappointed to read that you've run into trouble with placing orders on BestBuy.com. This certainly isn't the level of service to which we aspire and I regret any inconvenience to you as a result.
Your troubleshooting was very complete, and I'm sorry it didn't resolve the problem. Using the information you provided when you signed up for Best Buy Unboxed, I was able to locate your account. I have initiated a password reset that should resolve the issue for you. Please follow the instructions in the email you receive. For best results, I recommend using a new, previously unused password. Please let me know how it goes!
I'm grateful that you took the time to write to us with your concern.

  • Problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1. Acer Aspire E5-511

I bought an Acer Aspire E5-511, but I have problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1.The touchpad (Synaptics) is not working with Windows 8.1 x64, but it works fine with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.When I install Windows 8.1 and have to choose” language to install” I can’t choose anything with the touchpad. I should plug in my mouse to continue. I doesn’t work even when it’s fully installed and with latest driver (available only for win 8.1 x64) from Acer’s website. I tried with an older driver, but had no success. I updated BIOS, but it doesn’t work again. In hardware IDS in device manager it shows HID\… not ACPI\… (like win 7/8). Fn+F7 doesn’t help. When I try to install Windows7/8 the touchpad is working properly at the beginning (I can choose ”language to install”, “Time and currency format”… and the touchpad works after install even without driver).

SOLUTION So guys after deep research and troubleshooting I found that you need to keep notice of a few things at time of installation: Installation Mode: UEFI (only)- LEGACY would create touchpad issues. after installation of windows just follow the driver installation hierarchy 1.Intel NB_Chipset_M Baytrail-M 2.Intel I/O Driver then rest of the crap. Note:After doing all this make sure your touchpad is active >> Fn+F7 Just wished if this solution came from an acer executive , the world would have been a better place , but anyways this is what community is for. Enjoy everyone

  • ACER ASPIRE ES1-511-C83X WINDOWS 7 INSTALLATION

For the last couple of days I've been trying to install Windows 7 64-bit on my new ACER Aspire E15 [es1-511-c83x] that came with Windows 8.1  preinstalled. It  supports UEFI and LEGACY boot options settings in BIOS utility.   When I try to boot it from the Win 7 DVD it’s hanging on “Starting Windows”  logo screen after the files are loaded and the system is halted.I tried to run it in “Safe mode with Command prompt” and it stops at:
    Loading Windows Files:
    Loaded: ...\system32\drivers\disk.sys
When I start the installation from Win 8.1 interface and choose disk partition that was created with Win 8.1 I’m getting this message:
“The partitions on the disk selected for installation are not in recommended order. For additional information about installing to GPT disks go to the Microsoft website and search for GPT. Do you want to proceed with installation?”
If I go ahead it’s hanging again on “Loaded: ...\system32\drivers\disk.sys” after the system is rebooted.
I want to install windows 7 along with my Win8.1 with UEFI and GPT. I thing from windows 7, these configuration will work.
Do I have any other options?

  • Wifi unstable and extremely slow on my Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-7.

Hi again ! My previous problem is now solved. But now I have issues with my wifi. The wifi works perfectly on other devices but on my Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-7, it's just impossible to do anything on the internet... I've read it's a common problem and there are solutions. What steps should I follow in order to solve this ? I'm running Windows 8.1 by the way. I really like the performances of this computer so I wish to get rid of this stupid problem ! Thank you very much.

Can you describe "unstable and extremely slow" in more detail. Are you connected to the 5 GHz band of your wireless router or are you connected to the 2.4 GHz band? Are you having problems with all websites or just a few? Which web browser are you using?  IE or chrome or firefox? What is the model # of your wireless router? Is your wireless router supplied by your ISP? Or did you buy it retail? What BIOS version is currently installed on you laptop? What BIOS version is designated as the latest version on Acer's website? Does the problem occur when you use other people's wifi such as a friend, relative or neighbor?  Have you tested it somewhere besides your home? Does Acer's website list an updated wireless driver for your computer? http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

  • Switchable Graphics problem Aspire E15 E5-551G-T629

Hello, I've got a Aspire E15 E5-551G-T629, and the switchable graphics dont seem to work. I've tried several drivers, googled for hours and tried several methods even had the PC in for service for this and some other things and they said all was OK after the service. However the AMD r7 M265 won't be used no matter what.
Any idea what I can do to make this work? Because currently my pc is running games worse than my 6 year old 400 dollar laptop. (Not that gaming is the main objective here, but I'd like to be able to use the full power of my pc when required)
    Cheers in advance

Thanks for your reply, but I have gone through every setting and changed what I could change. Here is what I have done: - Changed windows power settings to always be maximum- made sure acer epower management was the same- changed global settings in Catalyst to always be maximum (including battery on all of those)- manually added the games that weren't working and set them to high performance- added the games that weren't working to the 3d settings profiles- updated the drivers- updated the BIOS ...and probably more that I am forgetting, since I have been researching and tweaking settings for three days now. There are some games that it will automatically pick up, but the two games that I play the most (and that are the reason I spent extra money for a dedicated card) will only run off of the Intel. The most aggravating thing was that when I purchased this computer, I had no idea that it even had two graphics cards. The website only listed the AMD, and my previous laptop only had a dedicated Radeon card so I thought it must be the same. Why would it not list two cards if it had two? So when I had problems initially I didn't realize it was because the game was running off integrated graphics, so I was looking into other things. By the time I discovered it was the laptop itself causing the problems it was too late to return it.

  • Acer Aspire One will only connect via Fon now on H...

Since activating Fon on my BT Home Hub my Acer Aspire One - running Linux Linpus - will no longer log on to the 'normal' wireless connection on my hub, only Fon, which has limited bandwidth, etc.
Anybody know why? Have a solution?
I've 'proved' it's the Fon activation my doing a full reset on the hub. My One connected normally until Fon was reactivated, then back to Fon connection only

Re WPA - it was fine until Fon was activated!
When I did a factory reset on the hub the One connected as normal - until Fon reactivated at which point it was back to via Fon only!
As the MAC address for FON and your normal SSID would be the same, perhaps it is seeing your normal SSID and assuming that is FON, and connecting to that in preference to your normal one.
    Really strange problem.......

  • PXE with Acer Aspire One D150 ?

    Hello
We are about to start testing Acer Aspire One D150 and I cant get it to
work with PXE boot, it wont find the NIC drivers. The NIC is "Atheros
something" and I dont even know where to start. Tha machine does not have a
CD so I cant boot with the boot-cd either...
I tried putting in the new imaging files from zdm7sp1ir3a_hp3 (feb -09) but
    same result, coudnt find NIC.
    Please advice.

How bloody hard can it be for the Novell-people to post an image which works
for Aspire one D150 ? I dont have the knowledge to compile this stuff
myself, I hate when this happens as soon as we are testing new hardware...
So... there isnt a working image today ? :(

as sta.ted above i cannot download the Reader software from the Adobe website.there is nothing saved in nthe Windows downloads folder nor is there any sign of the Downloads box. We hnave W7 on the pc so know what to expect. Have even tried saving it in ano9ther location. Stil no good. Currently have the new Firefox and Windows and Mcaffe dowloads are happening automatically. Any ideas? Using an Acer Aspire one netbook

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps to download the Adobe Reader file.

If that still fails then you will have to use another computer to download the file and use an USB stick too transfer the file.

  • Acer aspire zs600 recovery error; "restore failed - can not find image path"

Recently the hard drive in my Acer Aspire ZS600 failed. I purchased a new hard drive and the recovery media disks from Acer's website. However after installing the new drive and running the recovery disks, the third and final disk ejects with the error message "Restore Failed - Can not fine image path: M:\RecoveryImage\install.wim" I have searched these forums as well as the farthest reaches my googling skills will allow and I have not found a solution that works. I am fairly certain it is not an issue with my hard drive, optical disk drive or the recovery media itself. Any insight on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

i presume that your new HDD was completly clean, you didn't format or create partition prior to use the Acer erecovery medias. in a past thread there was a similar issue and Acer-Justin found the solution, i sent him a PM.

  • Can I upgrade my battery life using the Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-951 in built battery?

I am using the aspire V Nito-black edition 15.6 inch laptop for school and gaming. It currently lasts up to 2 and a half hours though I need it at atleast 5 hours. The battery is in built though but I really need the upgrade, cost does not matter.

Changing the Operating System may cause driver conflicts. The compatible drivers for Windows 8.1 will not be available in the website for this laptop. • Get Windows 10 app reporting 'CPU not supported' Acer Aspire 5738Z

Hi, My first post here so please be gentle I have an Acer Aspire 5738Z with a T4200 Pentium Dual core CPU running Windows 7 Home Premium. The Get Windows 10 app is telling me that I can't install Windows 10 because the CPU isn't supported. A bit of research suggests that this is because NX is not enabled in the Bios, however, even though the CPU supports NX there is no option to enable it in the latest Pheonix Bios incarnation (v1.34) on the notebook. I've chatted with Acer support but it seems all they can do is follow their script and point me towards the Microsoft website where you can check if Win 10 is going to be compatible with the notebook. This obviously pointless as I get the same result. Does anybody know how I can enable NX on the CPU please or if indeed the problem can be overcome by a different method ? I surely can't be the only one with this problem ? Cheers for any help offered

I don't know your CPU, but if your CPU  should normally support NX-feature (google said yes), this thread could be interesting  for you:http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10/AOD257-Windows-10-upgrade-reports-cpu-wouldn-t-support-NX/td-p/372309/jump-to/first-unread-message I have solved the NX-problem by installing a clean Win7. Additional hints: Here you can see if your CPU supports NX:Open Windows Explorer. Right click This PC or Computer and choose, ‘Properties’. Then select the ‘Advanced System settings’ option. Next, from the ‘System Properties’ window, select ‘Advanced’ tab. Choose the ‘Performance’ section now and from the new Performance Options window that appears on your computer screen, select ‘Data Execution Prevention tab’. If you see below a message like "Your computer's processor supports hardware-based DEP", your CPU should support NX You can also try the following:Open the Command Prompt with administrator rights! and enter:bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOnThis should enable NX in your Windows system (not in your BIOS). And if your BIOS is able to enable or disable NX (respective XD), you can look here:http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27071/~/how-to-enable-or-disable-secure-bootUnfortunately my BIOS has no option to enable or disable NX and I  also can't select secure boot.
