Website Block on wrt610n Router

Hi sir ,
i would like to a ask a step how to block a specific website with a specific time (office hours) for example "facebook" i want to block facebook within 8AM - 12Noon then 12-1 they can access the website, then 1-4 block again the website . thank you

The Access Restrictions feature of a Linksys router allows you to limit Internet access on your network.  You can deny certain computers’ Internet access or block certain applications and services.
Here is the link for setting up Access Restrictions on a Linksys router: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=20b29e54474a4a17aff594cb659747ea_4041.xml&pid=80&r...

  • Setting Up Website Blocking on WRT310N Router

I need some help setting up website blocking.  I have set up access restrictions for selected times and days but I also want to set up access restrictions for webistes.  Perhaps I'm just not clear on how this is supposed to work - I created a policy called 'Site' and then enter the URL in the website blocking area.  The options under the 'Access Restrictions' area are either 'Allow' or 'Deny' - intuitively one would assume the selection should be 'Deny' since this policy is to block access to specific URL's.  However, if I click 'Deny' and then save, then the URL's I just entered are cleared.  However, if I select 'Allow' then I am essentially giving 24hour access every day to my computers (but blocking the URLs), which then seems to go against the access restrictions I set up for selected times and days.  Perhaps these two policies are mutually exclusive but it does not seem clear that it is.
Can someone give me some guidance on how this is supposed to work because it just does not appear to be intuiative to me - FYI, I'm somewhat technical but I must be missing something here.  HELP!

You need to create 2 different policies. The policy for hours/days should be separate from the website blocking policy. For hours/days, you should select “Deny” and select the time or day that the computers would not be able to access internet. Click save settings. After doing so, create policy # 2, put a policy name, select allow, check Everyday, check 24 hours and in the URL boxes, type the website you want to block. You can also block by keyword, just enter the keyword in the “Website Blocking by Keyword” boxes. Click save settings after. Now you already configured 2 policies that should work hand in hand.
Note: You should enable the 2 policies setup.

  • Website blocked behind router

There is a website that I was accessing just fine up until this Monday. Now all attempts at access to it time out. Pings of the site time out and a tracert gets to the hop right before the site and then it times out. This happens for any computer in my house. I'm using an E3000 router.
If I connect a PC directly to my internet providers box, bypassing the router, I can get to the site just fine, I can ping it, and tracert successfully hops its way to it.
I've rebooted the router and looked all through it but I can't find any reason why I can't get to this website while behind the router. I hadn't changed any setting on the router in months so I never suspected it was the problem until my ISP had me bypass it.
Any ideas of what might be going on and how to fix it? I work from home and this site is one of my company's customers so I can't do any work on the site which is not good.
    JL

Ping test the site directly connected and connected through the router. See if both pings are going to  the same IP Address.
Also do tracert command to the website direct and through the router. Usually with this issue they take different routes to the website.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

Those sites have a random connection and DNS entries. Your best bet would be to use a DNS servcie like DDNS.com or OpenDNS.com service. Point your router to one of those DNS services and there DNS addresses, then set up one of those services to block FB and Twitter. If you use there DNS addresses on your router instead of the ISP DNS, and you block FB and Twitter, users should beable to get to FB or Twitter after that.

  • WRT610n Router lag with multiple devices?

Hi, I had a WRT54G (best router I've used!!) but ugraded to WRT610n after a wrt310n upgrade didn't work well with XBox. The WRT610n v2 has been great but I''ve noticed some lag issues when running multiple devices. While I understand this can be expected I don't expect it to this extent when not using that much and never had the issue before with the 54g. Are there settings that can be changed to improve this?
My setup is Mediacom 20/1.5 with a Motorola SB6120 modem. WRT610n router with a hard wired desktop (usually off and not used), a wireless n notebook wireless (also usually off) as my main use is for XBox 360. 1 wireless n with the new n adapter from microsoft and 1 wireless g with the old white adapter from microsoft. Usually only one is connected at once but sometimes my son will be on the other at the same time. I usually have no isse even still with the 2 (and never did before) but if any other pc is turned on or my Zune HD which connects also if I go on the marketplace seems to slow my setup down. As said before this was never an issue on the old setup but seems to be a problem now. Can I change any settings to stop this problem?

You might be facing the problem because the wireless settings set on your Router to its default settings, So you need to change certain settings on your Router, and that would improve the signal and speed quality on your wireless computers..
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Blocking on a Router

I have enabled blocking on a router to fire when a certain sig fires. this has been working for a while, I can see the ACL on the router with the host being denied access,so I know that it has been working. The sig fired today and the host was added to the ACL on the router - so it should be blocked, right? After I verified that the host was added to the ACL on the router and through the IDM I still receive e-mails on this sig firing with the same host that was supposedly blocked when it first came in. Does the IPS still log events if though the attacker is being blocked?

Once the host was added to the ACL I was receiving alerts 10-20 minutes after the fact.
When you setup a router for the IPS to manage and you put in all of the login, IP and ACL info. Is there anything you have to do to make the ACL active on the router to deny or allow traffic? The only thing that I can think of is to assign it to an interface on the router but that was done when setting up the blocking device through IDM right?

  • WRT610N router and a WET610N wireless bridge problems

I purchased a WRT610N router and a WET610N wireless bridge and have had a major hard time to get them to work together.  The router setup went fine.  Internet works perfectly on several machines and devices.  The bridge on the other hand has been a big issue.  I keep getting "Error 105" when the wizard trys to search for the bridge on the network.  This search happens 2 or 3 times during the setup, and it has failed repeatedly at each instance.  Sometimes it lets me go a bit further, but it's never completed.  I called support, and they didn't know much about it, then we got disconnected and the second guy didn't "have the skills to work with that device" and the first guy appearantly didn't update the notes.  I exchanged the bridge, but the second has fared no better.  I'm now thinking it might be the router.  One thing that leads me to that is the connection button never seems to initiate any proceedures on the router.  I can hold that thing down for two minuets and the lights never get going.  Anyone have any experience with these?

You have to make sure that your router is running it's latest firmware...
    Download Firmware 7.27 MB...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
After re-configuring the router you need to configure the Bridge, to configure the Bridge you have to make sure, Wireless Settings on the Bridge and the Router are exactly identical so that they can effectively communicate with each other...Your Bridge should be assigned Static IP Address of 192.168.1.250, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0...Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1(Assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...After setting up your Bridge you should unplug the Router and then the Bridge, wait for a minute and connect the router first, wait for another minute and then connect your Bridge...It should work...

  • Website Blocker wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.

Every time my MAC Pro starts up there is the pop-up window "Website Blocker wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."
I'm running Yosemite, but the problem also existed in Maverick. This happens even before any application is started.
If I type my password the window closes but will appear again at the next start up.
Did anybody see this problem before?

I have exactly the same problem.  It keeps asking for the admin password whenever I delete a file.  Annoying!  And guess what , after typing in the PW and deleting the file, the trash can is still empty! The deleted files just disappeared!!
So I checked my permissions, everything looked fine (i have perfect read and write rights), but i still used the Disk Utility to repair the permission, but it didn't solve the problem.
I read some article online, saying that BatChmod can crack it. I downloaded the file and tried it, well, it worked 50%, I now see the deleted files sitting in the trash can, but I still have to type in PW to delete files.....
This problem just came up today out of the blue, I'm not using any mobile disk or network disk by the way...
So anyone have any idea how to fix this annoying thingy?
    Thanks in advance!

  • WRT610N router wireless not working

I purchased a WRT610N router early this month, the wireless network was working completely fine when I first set it up. Today I tried to connect my laptop to my wireless network. The laptop isn't able to connect at all. I also got a Sony PSP which has WLAN on and that saying it cannot detect any access point which would be my router.
I've tried resetting my setting in the router admin page and also hitting the reset button at the back but either of them work. Is there any other options I can do to fix my problem?

Are you able to go online on the hard-wired computer to the router...?
Try adjusting the wireless settings on the router and check...On the setup page,For 5GHz...Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to159 and Standard Channel to 161-5.805GHz...For 2GHz ...Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...
Keep the SSID to unique,Wireless Network mode should be mixed...Check the Security key under Wireless Security subtab..
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,RTS Threshold to 2307 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Blocking on external router

    Hi,
i want to configure blocking on external router for some specfic signature, i already have access list on the outside interface to block some traffic and fragment packets with the name ACL_Router_External applied on interface outisde (G0/0)
when i configure blocking on IPS it create another ACL and applied to interface same interface in order to block.
how can i push ACL configuration from IPS to exisiting ACL  (ACL_Router_External) ???
    thanks

From the link that I posted, here are the steps that the IPS takes when building the ACL:
When the sensor starts up, it reads the contents of the two ACLs. It creates a third ACL with the following entries:
•A permit line for the sensor IP address
•Copies of all configuration lines of the Pre-Block ACL
•A deny line for each address being blocked by the sensor
•Copies of all configuration lines of the Post-Block ACL
The sensor applies the new ACL to the interface and direction that you designate.
In your case, you could use the ACL_Router_External as your Post-Block ACL.  The IPS will add a permit for itself and a deny entry for the address being blocked.  It will then append the existing ACL_Router_External entries that you already have configured before pushing the new combined ACL to the g0/0 interface.

  • Wrt610n router dual band connection working?

    Hello,
I just recently bought a wrt610n router and was wondering I see both the 5g and 2.5g but only one is connected at a time.
I have them both set to automaticly connect.
one of them is named linksys and the other is named linksys media.
I thought they should both be connected at the same time?
Am I missing out on the dual band connection?
    thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

At a time you can connect to only one network.

  • Controlling Traffic Through WRT610N Router Ethernet Port

I would like to know how I can configure the Ethernet ports on my WRT610N router to only accept connections from specific PC MAC addresses/s
Thought that this should be straight forward but cannot find where to allow these settings in the configuration UI.

The built-in ethernet switches of most consumer brand routers are simple ethernet switches. They don't do any filtering and they don't offer any configuration. It doesn't have anything to do with software or hardware control. The whole switching fabric is implemented in hardware in the switch. That's the cheapest way to built it and that's the way it is.
Managed switches which allow LAN filtering are much more complicated and much more expensive...

  • Sundry files in idisk

Someone, Please tell me how to get textedit to quit saving to the last place I was at. Frequently the last place I was at was the idisk working on iweb. Now I have all these files in there...about other stuff I might be working on.
