Website container appears to the right of menu only in Firefox

I am working on a website, and everything looks fine in Chrome, IE, Opera, and Safari, but when I use Firefox, the container is appearing next to the menu, instead of under where it should be. Either it isn't centered for Firefox or something else is wrong. Any ideas on how to fix this Firefox problem? I have tried the troubleshooting steps for "Websites look wrong in Firefox" to no avail. I have also started Firefox in Safe Mode with the same problem.

You have a mix of positioned elements (position:relative) and floated elements. I think height:0px is causing the positioning to be relative to the last floated item rather than the div containing them. But it would take quite some time to untangle and confirm.

• "Save Image As" does not appear on the right click menu of an image I want to save.

Trying to save images as a file to my desktop/laptop. I right click on the image and the menu appears. The entry Save Image As... is not present on the menu. How do I get the menu to show this entry?
I've heard that the problem may have something to do with plug-ins, but I've reinstalled and disabled each of them. It didn't change anything.

Does that happen with all images or only on specific web pages?
Can you post a link if the later applies?
Can you save the images via Tools > Page Info > Media ?
To be sure:
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* Troubleshooting extensions and themes
* Troubleshooting plugins
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.

• How can I make Quicktime Player 7 appear in the "Open With" menu?

Well, the subject says it all, I think.
I have installed SL, and now I want Quicktime Player 7 to appear in the right-click menu "Open With".
I have tried to rebuild the launch services database like this:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
But to no avail.

I got curious and checked a couple of things with right click. Some items show QT7 as an option, some don't. One .mov file that didn't had as the default ( ! ) something called "QuickTime Player Launcher" so I went ahead and used that to see what would happen, and QT7 did indeed launch and play the movie. Yet another .mov file that showed "QT Player Launcher" and no QT7 turned out to open in QTX. The first one was made in Leopard, the second was made in Snow Leopard using QTX screen capture. Other older .mov files with the "QT Player Launcher" default open in QTX. I remain baffled by a LOT of the behavior with QT7 and QTX.

• When I open a Bookmark folder , the contents appear to the right and I prefer they appear to the left as they did until I was organizing some folders ?

I recently updated FF and then spent some time organizing and how the dontents of the folders appear to the right and I want them to go back to the left as they have been for as long as I have been using FF

I do not use a Mac, but will try to provide some information.
There is a List all tabs arrowhead that by default is on the right hand side, and appears once the number of tabs overflows the visible bookmarks toolbar. that may be repositioned, if you customise the toolbars.
There is the bookmarks menu, on my lynux system that drops down left of centre.
There is a sidebar, that I believe is available in all desktop OS s an is on the Left Hand SIde. Finally there is the bookmark library, which effectively is its own window and may be placed as required.
I am wondering if it is the bookmarks sidebar that you normally use, and have lost the option for ?
(Or are you talking about tab groups ? or the drop down menu from the Bookmarks toolbar ? )

• How do I get the word Bookmarks to appear on the right side of my bookmarks toolbar? It has disappeared.

In my Bookmarks toolbar there is a star, an arrow, and a house. There used to be the word "bookmarks" but it disappeared. I want the word "bookmarks" back so that I can click on that. If I right click in the blue area, all I get is Open all in Tabs, etc. There is nothing to say how I get the word bookmarks.

Firefox has two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.<br />
One star button has a drop-marker that open the Bookmark menu and may appear on the Navigation Toolbar or on the Bookmarks Toolbar if the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The other star button without the drop-marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks).
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Back+and+forward+or+other+toolbar+items+are+missing
You can drag the Bookmarks menu button with the drop-marker in the Customize window from the toolbar palette on a toolbar (e.g. Navigation Toolbar or Tab Bar or to the left side of the Bookmarks Menu Items).<br />
If you do not see the drop-marker then try them both to see which works.
You only see the Bookmarks Menu button when the Menu bar with the Bookmarks menu is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).<br />
If the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible then the Bookmarks Menu button is displayed on the Bookmarks Toolbar as part of the Bookmarks Toolbar Items (bookmarks), but you can move it from the right side to the left side of the Bookmarks toolbar if the Customize window is open.<br />
Otherwise the Bookmarks Menu button will appear on the right hand side of the Navigation Toolbar.

• HT201403 It would be very helpful for Apple to re-instate the view as icon option for a pdf file in an email on the right click menu? As far as I can see no easy way for a basic user to get this back?

Would be great for Apple to reinstate the pdf as icon in mail - but using the right click menu. It seems to have gone - and as a basic user there seems to be no simple solution - I used the rich/plain text swap but it didn't work...
Apple - we need you to solve!

http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
It's highly doubtful that Apple will change this in Mac OS X 10.7 since that OS version has now been discontinued for quite some time. Whether they will change that in OS X 10.9 or a future version I can't say.
If this is a serious issue for you, you can look into Attachement Tamer:
http://lokiware.info/Attachment-Tamer
It's not free, but it addresses much more than the issue of PDFs appearing as images, not icons, so it might be worth the price.
Regards.

• I was on facebook and deleted an icon by using the right-click menu but then all my pictures and all profile pictures, could no longer be seen. I was able to view them in Explorer so this is something I did in Firefox. How can I unblock a site?'

I was on facebook and deleted an icon by using the right-click menu but then all my pictures and all profile pictures, could no longer be seen. I was able to view them in Explorer so this is something I did in Firefox. How can I unblock a site?

If you select that right-click context menu entry then you block all images from that domain and not one specific image, so do not use that.
* Check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions (e.g. sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
* Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
* Click the website favicon (Site Identity Button) on the left end of the location bar.
* Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
* Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
* Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
* If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

• How can I make row labels appear on the right

I am creating a timeline for a web development project in numbers
I have changed the content scale to get it to fit on two pages (it's illegible on one page) but the tasks are overlaid on the grey column containing row labels
How can I make the row labels appear on the right side instead of the left side?

Thanks Badunit - that was a big help
The counterintuitive part of this whole exercise is that to get the timeline printed as I want, I've got to leave the column representing Week 8 blank

• A long left click shows the right click menu

When I hold down the left mouse button, the right click menu appears.
I want to turn off this function, but can't remember which extension controls it or whether the function is built in to Firefox.

Hooray!! Found it! Thank you Google.
I found an old - very old - thread on Mozillazine.org:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=340572
And it IS a normal Firefox feature, but is normally OFF.
I think I must have recently turned it on after reading a "Firefox Tips and Tricks" article somewhere.
Anyway, the preference is called "ui.click_hold_context_menus".
And I just remembered that I added it in my "user.js" preferences file, amongst a load of others:
* Disable the Delay When Installing New Extensions
user_pref("security.dialog_enable_delay", 0);
* To turn off the URL greying
user_pref("browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled", false);
* To unhide the "http" portion of a URL
user_pref("browser.urlbar.trimURLs", false);
* Enable spell checker in multi-line text boxes & single-line text boxes
user_pref("layout.spellcheckDefault", 2);
* Double underline style
user_pref("ui.SpellCheckerUnderlineStyle", 4);
* Cycle through open tabs with Ctrl+Tab
user_pref("browser.ctrlTab.previews", false);
* Disable Animations for Full Screen
user_pref("browser.fullscreen.animateUp", 0);
* Click and hold on a hyperlink to show the context menu
user_pref("ui.click_hold_context_menus", true);
* Instant Apply Preferences Without Closing Options Window
user_pref("browser.preferences.instantApply", true);
* Middle-click in any textfield, addressbar or searchbox to paste clipboard
user_pref("middlemouse.paste", true);
So there's a lesson to be learned here: don't add too many tweaks to your Firefox preferences at the same time or you may forget what you did!
Thanks, all. I'll now mark this as "Solved"!

• Screen shifts to the left and left half of my screen appears on the right.

So there were some issues with my Harddrive, after having it replaced at the genius bar I chose to reinstall everything rather then just restoring from my Time machine.
After reinstalling Mountain Lion my screen occasionally shifts to the left and the left half of my screen appears on the right.
It seem completely random and occurs randomly. I haven't been able to tie it to any specific program.
After a couple of days of this happening once or twice a day I called apple and they suggested I do a fresh reinstall and don't move any of my data over and see if the error re-occurs. It didn't (tried it for 1-2 days..) but it might well be lucky/random that it didn't happen.
In any case.. since I couldn't deal for another day without my stuff I restored from Time Machine and the error did happen again.
So... it's something on my mac. I've done all updates... obviously
I have no idea what to do.. Everytime it happens, my mac just freezes and I can't do anything but for shutdown by pressing the shutdown menu.
How can I debug this? Anyone ever heard of this before?

• Can I change the order of dictionaries in the right click menu?

Hi
This is a minor issue but I just wondered if it is possible to change the order of appearance of dictionaries in the right click menu in Firefox. I switch between Danish, English, German (Switzerland), and German (Germany) - in this order of importance - but the order in the right click menu is English, German (Germany), Danish, and German (Switzerland).
I tried installing them in the right order but that does not seem to have an effect.
Thank you

Not a default feature in Firefox. That is a feature of the Google Scholar 1.0.2 extension I would guess. No information is provided by the developer on the download page and no support site or contact information was provided here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/vpiras/
Have you looked in the Add-ons Manager to see if there is an Options button for that Extension?

• The right click menu pops up after I push the right mouse button, instead of when I release it.

I am using an extension All-In-One Gestures. It works on my other installation of Firefox 4 - particularly, the right-click menu pops up if I click right mouse button and then release it so I can perform gesture or turn the wheel instead of getting a right click menu.
But on this installation (basically the same addons and OS), the right-click menu pops up on pushing down the right mouse button so the right-button+wheel gestures do not work, and the menu stays there while I am performing the gesture which is rather annoying.
So I though maybe there is some obscure configuration option to toggle to make right-click menu pop up after the button release? Or is this entirely the extension's fault? Note that it does work as expected on other installation...

You have to enable in Firefox
-> Options -> Content -> Activate JavaScript (yes) -> More
-> Allow scripts the following actions
-> Inactivate or replace context menu (yes)
in order to allow All-in-one-Gesture to block the immediate appearance of the context menu.
If you forbid Firefox JavaScript and/or the manipulation of the context menu by use of JavaScript, All-in-one-Gesture cannot work properly.

i was opening the right click menu so i could click "open link in new tab" for pictures on facebook and accidentally hit "block images from..." and i can't see photos and need to undo it. i found one website that said to fix it by clicking these....
Tools
Options
Content
Exceptions
Add the address
Check allow
click ok
but i either don't have "options" under my tools menu or am under the wrong tools menu
thaks! your help is much appreciated!

On MacOS, your options dialog is here:

hello prgc37, you original problem was likely caused by a fault extension that you have installed. can you try to reset firefox and see if this can address the issue...
otherwise such connection issues are also often caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.
