Website elements out of alignment

I have a new computer, new install of firefox, there are some webpages that do not have the correct alignment. As if there is a compatibility issue. I'm a project manager for a web development company, and I have some websites where the alignment of elements, like 2 divs that should be right next to each other, are on top of one another. I have 4 other computers with 4, or more browsers on each (IE 6.0,7.0,8.0, FF, safari, chrome, opera), and none of them duplicate the issue. My clients and associates all can not duplicate it either. It's just this firefox on this new computer of mine.
Do you think I am missing something on the computer? Maybe a plug-in, or something like an updated .net framework? (i have win 7 64bit pro)

Firefox is rather flexible, because users may use different add-ons plugins, preferences, and of course different versions of Firefox any two users do not necessarily see the same thing. Any differences may however be more likely to be down to user changes than variation in Firefox version.
if you think you have noticed something important maybe you would like to start your own thread, provide samples of
* two or three sites where you see the problem
* the version of firefox involved
*the details of the setup used.
In fact if you are finding such problems it may help to post details with a screenshot from each firefox version in a separate thread, then cross post links.
You may know what problems you and your clients see but we, the readers of this thread, are not party to that information, if you are hoping for a fix it may help to share some of the information.

  • CP1215 Color LaserJet out of alignment

Black and white seems fine but all the colors are out of alignment.  I have tried calibration, cleaning (via the print cleaning sheet) changing toners and a new driver (Win 7 64bit) but these things did not work.
    Any ideas?

I also have the same problem and have not  been able to fix it using the HP toolbox calibration as recommended. It would be nice to see an answer from HP.
I have tried calling HP support but did not get any other suggestions.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw Printing Out of Alignment

Images and color text print out of alignment.
The issue started the first day we had the print.  It has taken me a while to get into diagnosing it but I have tried the following:
I have tried replacing the toner cartridges with new ones (expensive).  The problem occured even with the original starter cartridges.
I have tried a full printer reset.
I have tried leaving the printer unplugged from power for 24 hours.
I have tried several alignment features within the printer menu.
Printing black alone is fine.  All other colors do not line up with each other or with the black.  Creates a 3D-ish kind of effect.
The printers quality report shows all colors areprinting fine but not aligned to one another.
I have included scans of a part of a rainbow print that illustrates the misalignment as well as the quality report page.
    This question was solved.

Thanks for letting me know James_LAG.
At this point it does look like a hardware issue with the printer. Please call our technical support and inquire about a replacement printer, at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Contact HP.

  • Crop marks out of alignment on double sided pdf

I have an Indesign CS4 two page document I have saved as a press pdf with crops. The client has just told me the double sided proof has come back with the crop marks out of alignment (offset vertically). Isn't this something the printrer can easily sort, or should I be setting it up differently in Indesign??
    Cheers

You should set it up as facing pages if it is double sided.
I don't see a reason to do that for a two-page document. It makes it harder to scroll between the pages since thay are not vertically aligned on the pasteboard and it should have no effect on things like crops.
And yes, screen shots of the page in ID and the PDF would help a lot....

  • My web pages appear out of alignment on small screens.

    Hi,
My web pages are correct on my large monitor but, the right side of the pages go out of alignment on smaller screens such as my laptop or even if I reduce the window size of my monitor. I used a 2 col, hdr, ftr, liquid layout in html 5. I did a browser check and fixed the suggested errors but it didn't fix the alignment thing. The site is http://www.thelandingivylea.com

You have the wrong design for a liquid layout. Since you certainly want to retain your design, give the DIVs fixed widths.

  • Spry menu out of alignment in IE

Not sure if this is the right place ... I am new to Dreamweaver and CSS but I have created a spry menu (horizontal) and everything looks good in all browsers except IE, the main container which is green is out of alignment with the menu bar at the top. I have been fiddling with this for weeks. Any help would be much appreciated. The link is as follow:

    thanks.

    Hi Gramps
Thank you … I took a look at the web address you sent me, but couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to do with it! Then I tried setting the individual widths of the menu items and this has improved the appearance in IE to the point where I can live with it. What puzzles me though is why, if the cumulative total of the menu items measure 946 px and the ‘main‘ div also measures 946, they don’t exactly match up exactly lengthwise.
Also your comment about not using ‘absolute’ positioned divs … I have been learning Dreamweaver from the Adobe manual and it recommends that you use absolute positioning for the ‘main’ div and so I thought everything else within the container (other than the container itself which I have set to relative) should be absolute. Are you saying that I should not use absolute for the main div or are you just referring to the menu div? If I don’t use absolute what should I use?
Thanks so much for your assistance, most appreciated.

  • Text shifting out of alignment when previewed in Muse or in web browser

    Hi,
I am having issues with some title text not staying where I want it to. Here are some images: http://imgur.com/a/ZX6z9
The first image shows how I have the page set up in the planner. The text in question is the title "Art Portfolio". If you look at the other two images, the second one being Muse's preview function and the third being in Safari, you will see that the title has shifted down a little in relation to the rest of the site. It is easily noticed because it throws the title out of alignment with the menu.
Anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue? I can compensate by moving it a bit higher in the planner, but I would very much prefer that the software worked as intended rather than me having to intervene.
    Thanks for any help!
    Andrew Bennett

    Hi Thrfoot,
I have a similar text issue with resizing occurring in preview and live mode. I believe text boxes (unlike web pages) are responsive to browser width. Just for grins, try keeping your Orbitron font and making the text box slightly wider and see if that helps. It may not, but I had to jiggle mine about quite a bit to keep it in line with everything else.
    Cheers,

  • Excel printing looks out of alignment

All in One C410A. Print works fine in all programs except MS Excel. My printouts look like the printheads are out of alighnment; both vertical and horizontal depending on the file. This did not happen until I moved to the C410. My old C309 the print was perfect.

I am having the exact same issue with my 410; it looks as though the printer heads are out of alignment.
Has anyone seen a sollution? It occurs in the middle of the page but only in Excel.

  • Pixma MX922 - BK appears to be out of alignment. PGBK, C, M, Y all (relatively) perfect.

Hey all, I've actually submitted this to Canon support, but I thought I'd bring up the issue since it's pretty strange and I would think that anyone familiar with it might see this post and go... "Oh hey, I know that!"
So... Pixma MX922... I appear to be having issues with BK (not PGBK). Text is distorted, or "fat" (wider than it should be and fuzzy) and if it's small text you can see what appears to be a duplicate offset, what I believe is the difference between the PGBK and BK... it appears the dye black is out of alignment independently from the colors and PGBK as evidenced from the print head check page.
The solid rectangular bars to the left and right of PGBK are crisp and solid, as is the grid to the right. The bars of black to the left and right of C, M, Y, and BK are distorted, getting fatter to the center of the bar. The actual color samples are all a solid crisp rectangle but the BK pattern is also distended on the sides.
Here's an example of the print check: i.imgur.com/Bt8SYer.jpg
    Steps I've taken:
    cleaned heads (incl. deep cleaning)
    cleaned timing strip
    aligned heads automatically and manually.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi jurassicfrog,
if performing the alignments, print head cleanings and cleaning of the timing encoder film of the printer did not resolve the error, the printer will require servicing; please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • Objects out of alignment when published

    Hi,
I;m having issues with alignment and have searched the forum bt not yet found a resolution.
Despite setting alignment in the Design view, the live view places some objects out of alignment.
See Kingsdown Holiday Homes - Self Catering Chalet Rental at Kingsdown Park, Kent | Home

    thanks,

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for taking the time to look and reply. I've checked and there are no overlapping or stray boxes, but its something I'll keep an eye out for. I grouped all the column items together, but this doesn't prevent it from happening.
    So this in Muse:

If you buy an iLife '11 install DVD (eBay, Amazon) you could upgrade your iPhoto right away. The earlier iPhoto '11 versions are compatible with MacOS X 10.6.8.
but I can't until I upgrade from OS X 10.6.8.  Trying to figure out how to do that...
To upgrade to Mt. Lion see here:  You can buy it and download it from the appStore, if your mac is compatible:

  • Macbook Screen Out of Alignment

So, I'm extremely careful when it comes to my computer. It is always in it's protective sleeve when not in use. Despite this, it's starting to show some wear. I'm fine with that, but just recently, the screen has come out of alignment with the body of the computer. By this is mean that when the screen is closed it closes at the slight angle, and does not line up with the rest of the computer. I'm not yet sure if this is affecting the computer in any way other than appearance, but has anyone else ahd this problem? Is the repair covered by the warranty?
    thanks.

My wife's Macbook has this problem. We took it to the geniuses at the Apple store. They said that this problem occurs when the notebook is dropped or display otherwise torqued in an unnatural direction. My wife is extremely careful with her Macbook, so I doubt that this is the problem, but whatever. The genius said that they are unable to do anything about it.
I would be curious to hear what other people's experiences have been like.

  • Window Icons Out Of Alignment

This is pedantic but I thought Apple's attention to detail would have caught this.  On my mac it seems that the functional icons inside the small red, yellow, green dots on all windows are out of alignment.  The x and - appear to be off by one pixel to the left.  And the expand icon seems to be off by a pixel to the right.
i.e. they are not centered and I'm not sure if that is intentional or not.

The icons are also inconsistent.  Sometimes a plus is shown while other times two arrows are show in the green dot.
