Website mp3 not playing WinXP 64-bit using Firefox but plays using IE

I have a website with embedded mp3 soundtracks that work fine when using IE but not with Firefox (latest version.11Beta). Have tried all the suggested plug-ins to no avail. Running WinXP 64-bit
2003 SP2. Video & soundtrack works fine on other websites such as u-tube.

That's because Firefox doesn't support playing mp3 files. It will play them if they are contained in a Flash audio or video player (like youtube) but not by themselves. If you are using the <audio> html element you can define multiple source files. Here are some instructions from our developer website - https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Using_HTML5_audio_and_video You can create an Ogg audio file that will work with Firefox by using a program like Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I have not read all you wrote, so I may have missed some points. As I understand it, you installed FP 10 on IE7, but it won't play any Flash content?
    Try this
download the FP uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
close all browser windows, then run the uninstaller
download the offline ActivX installer for Internet Explorer from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
close all browser windows, then run the installer

  • Typing in url for my company website sends it to https index page in Firefox, but not IE or Chrome, and the behavoir is not wanted

After upgrading Firefox to version 14.0.1 i noticed when i typed in my company's website address that firefox went to the https:// version of the site when it never did that before.
Example, if you type in amazon.com in the URL bar, you briefly see that firefox turns the url to https://www.amazon.com before being auto directed to the normal www.amazon.com site.
My website did not have a secure index page and people were getting a server generated message until I found this issue out.
Is there a setting in Firefox to prevent the URL bar from selecting a secure connection first? This behavior does not occur in the most recent versions of I.E. or Chrome browsers on a desktop.
Any help would be greatly apprecaited

I've now been forced to tell my users NOT to use FF because of it's BUG.

  • Error -5093 "The analysis library was not found" in 64 bit project. But the analysis library is found in 32 bit project

    Hello,
I'm using the Labwindows/CVI  2010 Full Development system, in a Windows 7 professional 64 bits computer. So, The analysis library is installed (see in the attached file), and the Option Analysis from the Customize library menu is selected.
I'm using several function from analysis library  (WhiteNoise, MaxMin1D, LinFit, etc). The projects in 32 bits work very well. In 64 bits project  there is not linkage error, the exe is created, but there are errors like that:
Function WhiteNoise: (return value == -5093 [0xffffffffffffec1b]). The analysis library DLL was not found or could not be loaded.
the same for the other analysis library functions.
how to do to use the analysis library in 64 bit projects, it's the analysis library 64 bit compatible?
    thanks in advance

    Hi DansatB,
thanks you for posting on this forum !!
Yes, the advanced analysis librairy is 64 bits compatible. i can do the test on my computer on CVI 2013.
i think it will be great to correctly uninstall your CVI version ans all install again.

    Hello,
Has this always been a problem? Did you properly format the SD card in the device before loading it with any content? When you try, what exactly happens? "not able to play" doesn't really tell us much...is there an error message?

  • Mp3s not playing in Safari 6.0

    Hi
I've been making some updates to my website today on my Macbook (running an older version of Safari) and everything is working exactly as I'd like. I then came over to my iMac (running Safari 6.0) but it seems the JPlayer didn't work. After some testing it seems the problem is with Safari as it works on both my PC (running IE) and Macbook, the version of Safari being the only change.
I presumed at first it might be an issue with the JPlayer but I discovered even if I just put the mp3 file(s) URL in the address bar it doesn't play there at all.
I see several other people are having this issue but there doesn't seem to be a fix as of yet?

    Nobody?

  • Mp3s not playing in Firefox, but will in Safari

This likely is not a GoLive issue, still I'm stumped, and an afternoon of searching online hasn't solved my problem. I'm hoping some wise people here can steer me in the right direction.
I have a couple of sites (designed with GoLive) that are no longer playing MP3 links in Firefox. You can save/download them, but if you click to hear them, only a few seconds play.
If you click on them in Safari tho, they play fine.
    files on - http://www.therubble.com/mp3.html - for instance.
These pages have acted fine for years, now they aren't.
    Any thoughts?

They are set up in a image map with basically < href="mp3/song1.mp3" > linking to the files.
I should test to see if the image map itself is mucking things, I guess. However the same aborted play happens if you type the link directly in the browser.
What's weird is that the pages (as is) have worked fine for years. Why they aren't working on the current server, I'm not sure. Other pages I've made with files hosted on a different server are working just fine.
The host company, I think, changed their server and some setting a long the way is not copacetic with Firefox (on Mac - haven't test PC + Firefox).
I was thinking it might be a Firefox 3 issue, but it happens with Firefox 2 as well (and again, previously it worked fine).
It was suggested that I should add a type tag to all links <  href="/mp3/song1.mp3" type="audio/x-mp3" / > and double check the MIME types settings. I'll see if that works, too.
Still, I think at this point I would rather move the sites to a different host than hand re-code a bunch of work all over again.

  • Why are some songs from YouTube MP3 not syncing now? It used to work perfectly. Is this because of the update?

I've been using a website to sync music and videos straight from YouTube to my computer and importing them into iTunes (which I know isn't good, but I like some music that is hard to find) and it has worked just fine up until now. I just updated both my iTunes and iPhone operating systems so they are just fine but I was wondering if the update was the problem. Can anyone help or has anyone else experienced these issues?

Problem:  this mac is not reading an excell file after upgrading to yosemite...   Now it once i donwload the zip it appears with an ".ods" extension...
If the "it" refers to a compressed (zipped) spreadsheet that you downloaded, the ".ods" extension is used by LibreOffice and probably OpenOffice (which are free versions of MS Office) for spreadsheets, which would suggest that wherever you're getting that "Excel" file from has switched to one of those programs. I've tried opening an .ods file from LibreOffice using MS Office 2013 for Windows and it does open though with a warning that some things have been changed. I don't know if Office for Mac can normally open .ods files. But if your need is to just open .ods files, take a look at LibreOffice.

  • Video on particular websites does not play.

Video doesn't play on sites like Fox.Com. I don't get a warning, pop up or the like. They do, however, play on Maxthon and other browsers. I cleared by cache, reinstalled and all the other typical hullabaloo to no avail.

  • Music or videos on websites will not play

When logged on to a website to check out a song or video, the song or video will not be displayed. Sometimes there is even a blue cube in the place where the song or video should be. Why is this and how can this be fixed? Thanks.

Not at this time. It will have to be added as a firmware update sometime in the future.

  • Many websites will not play flash video

Really hoping for help with this.
Most sites won't play flash video (can't remember all of them, but they include BBC, CBC, & major online news & business sites). I don't think it's a site problem.
    [YouTube works].
Safari version is current. "Block pop-up windows" is off. Gimme Blocker is on. There are no extensions installed.
If there's other info to be provided, please LMK.
    Thanks!

  • I continue to get an error message when I go to most websites, and videos on websites will not play.

I think it has something to do with the Adobe update I just installed. Internet Explorer works fine still, so I think it is a problem with Firefox. See the error message below:
    Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Library
    Assertion Failed!
    Program: ...
    File: common\npn_gate.cpp
    Line: 267
    Expression: pPluginShim

I uninstalled Real Player and problem is completely gone!

  • Auto-update not working on 64-bit Windows Firefox Aurora

I realize the correct directory to download Aurora builds would be http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora-l10n/, but it does not have 64-bit Windows build which is unfortunately the only way to solve severe stuttering problems in Flash.
Previously I had used nightly builds, while they did work fine most of the time sometimes there issues that forced me back to standard builds, and stuttering Flash.
So instead I've been trying to use 64-bit Aurora I downloaded from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora/. It's been a smooth experience otherwise but auto-update doesn't work. First it attempts to install small patch, which fails. Then it tries to install full update, which again fails.
Here's a screenshot of the full update failure message: http://i.imgur.com/8HmPjTE.jpg

Thanks for the feedback. The topic linked above suggests that the problem with auto-update lies with CA certificate. I've submitted feedback to Moziilla and linked here just in case.
If the cause of failing auto-update is the CA certificate, hopefully Mozilla is willing to correct the problem.
Stuttering Flash in 32-bit Firefox is simply unbearable and I have to either use 64-bit Nightly or Aurora builds, or go Chrome.

  • When opening up Firefox, I kep getting a message: Firefox kept this page from reloading". My home page opens up but some other websites do not open until I hit the "allow" but. How do I remove this or adjust this?

My home page opens up fine, and there is a message, " Firefox kept this page from automatically reloading", and this same message shows up all the time. When I got to new websites, they will not open until I hit the "allow button" How do I turn this on or off, or adjust it?

    Go to Tools --> Options.
In the Advanced tab go to "General". Uncheck the check box "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"
