Website not publishing accurately

When I publish my website (jonathanrenouf.com), half the web pages come out as they look on iWeb, but the other half turn the background completely black, making the text virtually illegible. Any idea why this should happen? It's the same whatever browser I use.
Thanks
J

Is the Photos template you are using from the same Theme as the other pages of your site?
If so...
Try publishing your site to a local folder by using the second example on this page...
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
Launch the site in the browser by double clicking the index.html file.
If the background color in iWeb is correct but it publishes as black, try doing the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here....

  • Website not publishing right

    Hi everyone
I have a website that I used do in blue voda but recently decided to try in iWeb.
The way the pages are publishing isn't how I want them publushed.
My index page is supposed to be my main website page, www.eclectusparrots.net
    however it is publishing as
    www.eclectusparrots.net/Eclectus_Parrots/index.html
It had created Eclectus_Parrots folder in my ftp, which I don't want.
Also so far the main index page is all I am able to get on the net. I am having trouble publishing my other pages & am not sure where I am going wrong here. They try publishing as my main index page. How do I publish them as separate html pages & how do I get rid of Eclectus_Parrots permanently ??

  • Website not publishing

I have made some changes to my portfolio website using iWeb 3.04
    then optimized with Webcrusher 1.8.
In Webcrusher I then select Export / Publish to iDisk and it does this which takes 10-15 mins.
However there is no changes on the website.
If I look at my iDisk there are some files in the website folder which have been updated
    (according to the date modified)
Tried it twice now but no difference.
Website is same as it was before.
When I first created the site I used the same procedure using Webcrusher and it worked.
    any suggestions?
    thanks

  • IWeb '09 not publishing accurately

This is driving me crazy: Simple elements like words that I am formatting in iWeb with color, font, size, shadow, hyperlink definition, etc., while looking and acting perfect in iWeb, do not make the translation to the published version (publishing to a local folder). These same elements (words) either disappear, change color, change font, revert to pre-saved (or other erroneous) text, color, size, font in the published version. I've tried redoing the site from scratch (one page at a time), quitting iWeb then re-launching, re-starting my computer, removing possible offending elements, but to no avail. Any ideas? Is this a known flaw in iWeb? Helllllllllp........

The restart dumps out all the redundant files.
Three is a bug that has really bugged me which screws up changes in hyperlinks sometimes.
To get out of this one I have to delete the item(s), save, quit iWeb, restart my Mac, relaunch and then add it again.
Painful and slow but it works.
Maybe one day the iWeb developers will try to fix this one!
Apparently they don't seem to care that their incompetence is wasting a lot of my time. Either that or they don't actually use iWeb which is probably more likely as is evident from their many serious blunders.

Where are you publishing to?  Can you publish successfully to a folder on your hard drive? Have you read this webpage: Publish iWeb site using FTP. It may have a clue to where the problem is.
    A quick troubleshooting fix is
    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
However, when you delete the preference file you probably will have to use the app described below to select and open your domain file with iWeb:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Wanting to move to single-click publishing (supported by MobileMe), I now find it is not supported by iCloud and Mountain Lion. I feel cheated, having bought it mainly for this purpose! The other thing they don't tell you is that Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac, and I am considering uninstalling it for that reason - do I get my money back?!

You stated; "Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac"
    That is not true.
Mountain Lion does not have Rosetta so it is not capable of executing PowerPC code. If you have MS Office 2004 that is coded in PowerPC code and will not run in Mountain Lion. What you need to do is upgrade to an Intel version of Office.

  • In iweb changes not publishing

Since changing from mobileme server to ftp server, changes to website made in iweb do not publish?

If you are uploading your website files using the iWeb FTP, any old, existing files should get overwritten automatically. Try switching to another browser like Google Chrome or Firefox to view your site.
To find the file manager you need to login to your hosting account.
You can use the freeware Cyberduck to upload files and manage files on the server but it doesn't allow you to view the files on your Mac in the same window as the ones on the server...

  • "website not found"

I am trying to help a teacher with her free 60 day trial .mac account and iWeb site. She was able to publish on her first attempt, no problems, looked great. She had a Welcome page and a podcast page for each of her 6 classes.
She had to update some of the podcasts she had already published, but when she went to Publish again, she got the Unknown Error message. After reading some posts, she decided to delete the Site podcast pages she had changed and begin them anew. When she went to publish, it all seemed to be going well, then .mac said she was out of space. Knowing she has limited space, she went about eliminating some of the entries on the podcast pages and attempted to publish again.
Now, when we go to look at her site, we get the "website not found" error. When I logged into her account looked at her iDisk storage in her .mac account I see she has data in her Web/Sites folders for her Welcome page and 3 of 6 of her podcast pages. The iDisk says she has used 34% of the disk and has 16MB still free...
Anyone know why her web address would suddenly give the "not found" message and how we can get it back for her? She is thinking of buying a year's subscription for her class...but wanted to test drive it first...
She has Tiger and the latest iWeb

We had the correct address. It was a problem with her iDisk. Files that should have been dumped when she published her updated iWeb site were still residing on the iDisk and this was causing all her problems. When we physically moved the files to her desktop and trashed them ourselves, the updated site published again just fine.
    Alls well that ends well.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Funny, got all the 'Publishing Error' messages but websites get published

    Hello all.
I have 3 .mac websites using iWeb.
Last night had trouble publishing, because some "navigation bar error", so I 'publish all', still failed. So every site every page on the left panel is in red.
Brought the Domain file to the office to try and publish, still failed. Mounted iDisk and trash everything, then tried 'publish all' again, still getting some error messages, then tried last try 'publish', reported a network error.
All the icons on the left panel is still in red
*But funnily, a check on my websites and all of them have been published!*
*So how am I going to "update" my iWeb/Domain file, because they are all in red, thinking they are not published yet?*
    Cheers

I am having the same problem, after weeks of everything being OK. Suddenly, in the last 24 hours I get a variety of messages, including the "Unknown Error" message and one called "Lock Error". Beats me what THAT is.
When I look at the url with Safari, it all seems to be fully updated, but iWeb certainly THINKS there has been an error, and leaves all the pages that have been altered in any way in the familiar red highlight color.
Trying to contact customer support. Could take a while, of course!
    Good luck!, Charlie

  • Updated links not publishing

I am on Lion 10.7.5  I have IWeb 3.04.  I just went to add a link as an external page to a page. It added it. I published the change. Uploaded the html via Fetch to my server. when I do preview in Safari, it does not show the change, even after a refresh. I tried 2 other browsers, Firefox and Chrome. When I use  Safari to check the file on my hard drive, it is the same. Iweb is not publishing the updated/added link. Suggestions please.

If you are using Wordpress for the blog, then if you are having problems with iWeb, why not consider moving the whole site to WordPress.org instead?  If you have used WordPress before, then it would probably not take you long to move the site and then you could have that uniform look of the site with one template.  You could have the whole website, plus the blog 'under one roof'.  As you probably already know, you can alter WordPress so that you can have a static front page and change your blog posts elsewhere.
Don't know whether you use WordPress.com which is free or WordPress.org, which you need to install on your servers?
If you don't want to upload WordPress to a server/host, then you can download it and use it locally on your Mac - you would also need to download something called MAMP for free and set this up on your Mac.  It is very easy to do - so download MAMP and then set up your database - My Sql.  Download WordPress and place it in the htdocs folder under MAMP.  You are then ready to install WordPress locally, so you run the install and connect the database to WordPress.
This means that you can play around with WordPress and re-design your site at leisure, without the need to install it on a server/host and when the local site is ready, you can upload it whenever you want.

  • How can I save my iWeb site as an interactive doco for a presentation? It is not published to the net.

How can I save my iWeb site as an interactive doco for a presentation? It is not published to the net.

    mashett wrote:
By interactive document I meant to function as a website with pages that are linked through what would be the hyperlink.
That's exactly what you would get. Create a folder with a suitable name: publish to it. Zip it; email it. Tell them to start with the 'index.html' file inside the folder. The rest will follow - they will see it exactly as they would see an online site, links and all.
Note that there is usually a 20MB limit on email attachments so if your site is image-heavy you might have a problem. An alternative is to post it to your webspace - you could post the zipped file and give them a link to it - that will download it (and it's a preferable way of handing a large file anyway, as they can download it at their convenience rather than being forced to in order to get their other mail).

  • Can I NOT publish everything?

Hi. Is there a way I can NOT publish all my iWeb sites when I click "publish"? I have some that are in the works that I'd like not to go online. Thanks!

Do you mean publish all the pages of one website or publish all your separate websites?
If you mean the former, create a second site on the same domain file and drag the pages you don't want to publish into it. When you are ready to publish, drag them back up to the top site. Make sure the second website has a different name. It will publish but will have a different URL and therefore won't be seen by anyone.
If you mean separate websites have a look here...

  • Default website not listed on start screen

    Hi All,
I am not a regular user of Contribute but, instead am an IT administrator for our compnay.  So, forgive any ingroanace on the matter.
We just moved this particular user to Windows 7 64 bit and she is having an issue with our website not showing up on the home page of contribute.  We are talking about version 6.5 here.
    Here is her original ticket:
I got a new Contribute key from David earlier today and it worked fine at first – I was able to edit some pages without issue. When I closed out Contribute and then opened it again later, though, the website connection was no longer listed.
Usually when you start Contribute, you select the website connection you want to use from a list on the startup screen. It doesn’t show up there, but when I use the key again to set it up, it tells me that I already have a connection to this website, and do
I want to override it? I’ve just been clicking ‘yes’ and overwriting the old connection.
She is also reporting another issue:
I can’t edit pages that are secure (https). Am I going to have to have two different keys in order to do this? It was never an issue before—I’ve always been able to edit any page on our site, and I only
    had the one website key/connection.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

For the first problem, try this.
Go to Edit>My connections. I assume you are using the publishing server? If so, select that in my connections and click remove. Then try re-installing the permissions key. If not using the publishing server, just find the individual connections and remove them.
Not sure about the second issue. Contribute should edit it just fine if she has all the read/write permissions for the drive it sits on set up properly but I'm not a server person so hopefully someone who is will come along soon.

  • Contribute CS3 will not publish Flash Player

A few months ago the company I work for bought Contribute CS3
to edit our website. The homepage of our website contains a Flash
Player file. When I edit and publish this homepage Contribute will
not publish the Flash Player file this section just shows up blank
stating movie not loaded when I bring up our website. The same
thing happens even when I do a 'send for review' before I actually
publish the page. I have administrator rights through Contribute to
edit this website therefore I am confused as to why Contribute will
not publish this Flash Player file. I have also tired to reinsert
the Flash file while editing in Contribute and still the file will
not publish. Would anyone know why this would happen?
