Website Optimization Software

What Web Optimization software would you reccommend for
multiple websites as I am web designer / developer and want to add
this as a service.
What do you think on over inflated prices for this kind of
software when really all it does is submit your site to all the
engines?
Or are these link reank etc accurate?

Why not? Links from search engines (even small ones) are a
good thing -
right?

  • Website Optimization Software Question

If I drop a published folder from iWeb into Rage WEBCRUSHER is the folder now
optimized such that I could use it with any kind of FTP transport ?
.................or do I need to export the file from WEBCRUSHER in order to consummate the optimization?
The reason I ask is that the published folder (prior to optimization) is 17MB.
While the optimization report says that WEBCRUSHER saved 7.36 MB of 15.66 MB,
GETINFO on the computer says the folder is still 17+MB in size)
Do I need to use the optimization software to upload the file or can I just use it to optimize
then transport it with a different FTP?
The reason I ask is because when I upload the file via WEBCRUSHER I get an error message saying
    "tcp error, connection dropped".
I am able to successfully upload with FTP Transport but I cannot determine whether or not
what I am viewing is an "optimized" file or just a regular file.

    Apptorial,
    Here it is: http://testidea.net/Seattlesbestkitchens/Home.html
Some of the links have been knitted together.
The interim goal was to just test download speed and image quality.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Video, Website and Software incompatibility

Hi Folks! Three questions about incompatibility on my iMac:
    1) The following website will not open or allow me to run their website appllication software,
    https://www4.webcrf.net/nma53032/pfts.dll?PVN=21678
The site is a pharmaceutical research platform for Sherring Plough. It runs on my Windows computer at work or the old one at home. I would like to run it on my iMac. Any help?
    2) Running a cd produced with the exam results of my recent MRI doesn't run on my iMac, but runs fine on Windows computer. The App Store provided me with the free Opera software, which I duly downloaded and upgraded, fortunately for free. But nothing happens. Any help?
    3) I have two dvds with film files that I can run by using the disk but if I try to copy the content onto my iMac (or on my old Windows machine too) I get files that will not just play a movie or series of files, nothing. Both of these dvds download onto my computer with the same file types: VTS files, a whole folder full of them. They are categorized as Unix Executable Files. Some are grouped in an audio folder, others in a video folder. But they don't behave like a file that I can open and run. Any help?
    Thanks!  J

    Hi, and thanks for responding.
    1) The end result was that the website in questions was created exclusively for use by a windows program and, even when running 'emulate windows' webbrowsers, it just will not work. And the company webmaster also said it was not made to run on a Mac. The only option left would be to pay for software to set up a virtual machine that runs windows on my Mac.
    2) To run an MRI cd on a Mac I had to use Osirix, which was free and works fine.
    3) Handbrake seems tobe the answer. Thanks for suggestion this. I had some trouble because I assumed I could find it at the Apple App store. Not there. (A busy lilfe tends to help confuse things.) But my brother in law put in on my compter and now I have just to do it.
Thanks, I'll note Correct Answer for that one on 3.
    Ciao  J

  • Who makes the nicest, easiest to use Flash website design software?

Please forgive the beginner's question. I would like to build
    a flash site like
    http://www.hockaday.org from an
easy to use Flash template. You get what you pay for so my first
choice isn't something for free but a 30-day free trial version
    would be nice.
    What I like best about
    http://www.hockaday.org is the
great menus and that pictures continually reload in interesting
    ways.
Maybe a template is too restrictive. Who makes the nicest,
easiest to use Flash website design software that allows fast
creation of those fancy menus and with other fast features to do
nice things with pictures and motion?
I need to create a site like
    http://www.hockaday.org
immediately so I don't have the time to learn Flash first. What's
    my best bet?

you are in a catch 22 - you don't have time to learn flash -
yet you need to build an entire site
immediately - you can't - sure you can download a template
that is similar but if this forum is any
proof, you almost need more flash knowledge trying to
decipher most templates in order to edit them
    - search this forum, there are several posts per week from
    non-flash users who purchased templates
and have no clue how to edit them. Often times it is hard for
    an educated flash user to
reverse-engineer a FLA made by somebody else - Flash
documents are blank canvases that can be setup
a myriad ways by different users making the same thing - some
    developers are more organized than
others - most templates are not organized but rather thrown
    together for a quick profit.
You will simply need to learn enough flash to understand how
it works or hire somebody to edit the
    template for you.
    hope this helps.

  • Website design software in Spanish?

Is there some Website design software in Spanish (cheap)?
    Thank you

    I'm sure iWeb is.
But I can't check as I have removed all extra languages to save space.

  • IWeb and Google's Website Optimizer

I am interested in using Google's Website Optimizer to analyze which of my web pages get the most attention and are the most effective. I need to modify the HTML in my web pages and "add HTML tags" but I don't know how to do that or if that's possible in iWeb? Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks!

You can use the freewareiWeb SEO Tool to add keywords, page titles and photo alt titles which help search engines.

  • No Optimization software on the mac!?!?

    Hello guys,
I am not a developer, but the reason I came here to post is that I was looking for a cut optimization software for mac and I could simply not find one
There are plenty cheap and expensive ones on Windoze platform but not one, NOT A SINGLE ONE for Mac. How is that possible?
The type of software I am talking about is available at these places for WINdoze:
    http://www.panecutter.ro
    http://www.optimalprograms.com
    http://www.cutting-optimization.com
    http://www.optimalon.com
    http://www.nesting-software.com
So thought to let everyone who visits here know this and perhaps maybe someone here already is working or maybe point me to where I have not yet looked.
    Best regards
    Meherally

    hi Bob,
Thank you for your suggestion. I really appreciate your taking time out on this.
However, this one is not anywhere close to what is being offered on the PC platform. Cabinetcut is almost simply a drawing program, it has no 'nesting' logic, it does not have a 'repository', one cannot specify saw width, or edge banding options, no labels print outs, and so on.
If you visit each of the PC links I posted above, you will get an idea.
However, I much appreciate your pointing me to this.
As I said, I am not a developer, but I think one reason might be to do with the OS X itself. Perhaps there is a major problem in the way an application can use OS X's framework or modeling logic, or the algorithm that is needed for this type of software is simply not there in OS X.? I don't know.
But I still cannot get over the fact that an equivalent is not available on OS x.

  • ?What is the best website design software to use for my MacBook Pro?

I want to design my own website and heard from a friend that the iWeb software is good.  I don't see iWeb in the App store, and am wondering if it is now part of another program or if there are other programs that might be better....I want something that is user friendly...thank you!

For reasons unknown to me, iWeb is being discontinued by Apple.  It can be found on old versions of iLife.  I have iLife 08 which has iWeb included.  It's probably best to seek alternatives.
    Ciao.

  • Best Mac OS X Cleaning/Optimization Software?

    Hello All,
I would like to know which is the very best Mac OS X system optimization/cleaning programme available - preferably one that detects and fixes any errors and faults within the system and apps. I got an e-mail about a product called 'Spring Cleaning 10" for Macs which claims to keep ones Mac in tip top shape - has anyone used this and is it any good? There are so many products out there that claim to to be the best that I am at a loss as to which ones are any good!
    Suave!

Unfortunately such tools have just as great a likelihood of requiring a backup to recover from errors they make as not. Cache cleaning is one example. We get so many people come into these boards whose applications no longer launch, or unexpectedly quit. What is the cause? LaunchServices cache files have gone south. And guess what sent them there? Tools such as Onyx, Macaroni, Applejack.
The Mac OS does all the cache cleaning I have ever done on this computer.
I am sure that some people have over-zealously applied some of these tools unwisely, but most of the references I have seen to cache cleaning and deletion on these forums in the past year or so have been as solution recommendations (which sometimes work) to people who already have existing computer problems rather than being caused by them toying with their computers. Again, my main reason for mentioning Onyx was not for its prophylactic "maintenance" capabilities but as a tool for dealing with specific issues that already exist. I use it, rarely, but only in response to specific issues.
Disk Warrior while it is great, will not fix a dying hard drive.
Agreed, but I think a dying hard drive is a very different issue from the "maintenance" about which the OP was asking. A dying hard drive is when anybody will need a backup (though I once made it through a dying hard drive case without using my backups or special tools, but that's another story).
    Free backup solutions exist.
Software, yes, but the reality of the situation is many people do not consider another $100 for a backup drive to be part of a computer purchase.
Suffice it to say, priority should be placed on backing up before any "maintenance" tools are used.
Uh, again, didn't I say, "Your first priority"???
Since failure of drives can happen at anytime without any warning, due to mechanical issues which no maintenance tool can fix, backing up is still a priority. It should be a part of one's regular routine, and as such is more routine than general maintenance. Maintenance implies a routine practice. Thus backup is maintenance in an indirect way. It is maintenance of your data's integrity.
I think we will have to agree to disagree on the definition of maintenance. For me, maintenance is upkeep of the existing drive, equivalent to changing the oil in my car. I consider a backup like having my second car in case my first car fails, whether it be by an accident or aging. So, I make sure my second car is in good running condition before I start doing any major work on my first car in case something goes wrong during repairs, just the way you might want to back up before you run a tool on a hard drive. I do happen to have a second car; many people don't and then get stuck when the first fails. However, if you maintain your only car you are less likely to need that second car (that's why I now own two 28 year old cars ). Yes, eventually you will need it, but that will be either due to an accident (= sudden hard drive failure or serious directory crash) or due to the car just wearing out (= hard drive failing after many years of service as they all do). Some people buy new computers before the drives wear out (I think of all the good 250MB drives I have in a box upstairs) so in that case they are simply gambling on their current drive being in good shape mechanically and if they can at least maintain file/directory integrity on the drive they can run reduced risk of eventually needing that backup.

  • Compatible website design software

Since Microsoft FrontPage 2003 is not compatible with my MacBookPro, and DreamWeaver is a couple hundred dollars more than I'd like to spend, I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for comparable software for website design for Macs?
I am pretty desperate for help! Thanks.

iWeb doesn't let me do enough of my own design work.
I think I'm going to go with Dreamweaver and work a student discount.
    Thanks.
Have a look at Apple's iWeb?
    Or Sandvox or
    Rap
    id Weaver
(Dreamweaver 8 fan here, even if not Universal Binary
    yet it runs fine.)

  • Does Snow Leopard Server come with a website design software

I'm running Snow Leopard Server on my Mac Mini-We've decided to take our website in house, and have set it up on the server.  The site was created by someone for us and is in HTML files.  Is there software that came already on our server that will permit us to edit the files, or do we have to buy additional software?  I don't see iWeb on our server.  Thanks.

iWeb works, but many sites will find it limiting (eg: no imports) or will outgrow it.
The typical evolution is from static HTML web pages and CSS and such along to some sort of web content management system (CMS).  That might be home-grown, open-source, or commercial, and most of the CMS packages can be "themed" to present a particular appearance.  Static HTML doesn't scale, and gets fussy to manage.
If static HTML is your chosen path, then Web (HTML) editors are widely available, and do get discussed here on occasion.  Some that are mentioned include Adobe Macromedia Dreamweaver, RapidWeaver, Webacappella, Freeway, etc.  (Google for details, reviews, trials, etc)
Migrating your server in-house means maintaining the server and its security, keeping any CMS you pick current, and getting DNS and some other pieces in place, and run-of-the-mill stuff like regular backups and monitoring disk space, and dealing with the usual network and hardware errors.
One of the other options (as differentiated from operating fully in-house) is to host your web site and related pieces on one of various hosting providers.   (That outsources a bunch of the "fun" here, and usually for little money.)

  • Website building software recommendations for Macs

Looking for advise on web-building software that is Mac friendly, easy to use and cheap. I have a career counseling practice and want to build my visibility and do not anticipate needing more than 5 pages but would like blog capability as well.
Kind thanks for recommendations and advice as to a more appropriate forum for this question if appropriate.
    Thanks so much.

    Hi Connie
No problem! I think there are 25 or so ... it's really a very straightforward program to use, I suggest you have a look at the tutorials and then jump in and see how you get on. You can always post back if you have specific questions (though I do recommend you post in the iWeb forum section, just because you'll get more specific help there).
    good luck!
