Website suddenly goes to right of design view

I don't know what i've done, but when i saved a webpage to a
new folder and chose to update the links, the whole page now
appears at the right of the page instaid of the center as it should
be. This seems to happen with most other web pages that i now open
with dream weaver.
When opening the webpage in IE or FF it appears normal and in
the center, its just in design view :S
Can someone please help and tell me how i can correct it.
Thank you

It will appear normal on your dream weaver im faily sure, i
think its just some configuration on dream weaver that needs
sorting out.
any ideas?

  • Layout dosn't look right in design view

I have made the following to re-create the cross pattern I used for a FrontPage website:
    http://www.benedictines-cib.org/demo/cross.html
It looks right in the browser, but when I view the page in design view (CS4) the navigation lines up on the left with the blue header and underneath it. Is this just something that happens? Or can I do something to avoid it? It looks fine in Live View.

This happens sometimes and it can be disconcerting, but the reality is design view is meaningless. I'd much rather have it perfect in the browser and not in DV thn the other way around. Code looks good, I'd not worry about it and let F12 be your freind.

  • When I insert a format extension the design view disappears?

    Hi,
I'm just following one of the tutorial from Lynda.com and found that when I change the format of a variable from a record set something very odd happens ... certainly not what happens in the tutorial.
Okay .. here is what I'm doing ...
I've installed the extension 'PHP Numeric Formats' from the Adobe Exchange and restart DWeaver.
I select the price variable {rsTitles.price} go to Bindings and change the format to the USDollar and as soon as the format is inserted all the images, formatting and text disappears in the design view and is replaced by a number of PHP icons.
Going to Live mode it is displaying ok ... but not being able to see what's going on in the design view is going to limit things somewhat.
All the other formats from the 'PHP Numeric Formats' have the same effect.
I also installed 'PHP Server Formats' (latest version from the programmers website) and the date format works ok .. but doesn't seem to have any currency options.
So first question is: Why is the above problem happening ... Does this happen to anyone else?
2nd question is: May you know of a better extension for currency and numeric formats. that doesn't cause the design view to disappear?
Many thanks for your time and I would really appreciate any help.
    Best wishes,
    Nick
I've attached some screenshots of the problem

    Hi,
Doh! I've just realised what is happening ... my computer restarted but the WampServer (local.host) was not restarted and was not running at the time of applying the extensions. Once it is up and running all the currencies formats work just fine .... as I said before ... doh!
If your looking for formating for currency in an exstension ... I've been using 'FX PHP Formats' avaliable for download free here after registering:

  • JSF Design view broken, showing tags as blocks instead of preview

    I'm using jDev Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.3.0_GENERIC_120914.0223.6276.1
but this has happened to me several times before with previous versions of jDev.
All of the sudden after restarting jDev the design view for all my jsf pages look broken, showing only tag blocks, and not the design view it was showing previously. Why is this? what happened?
The only fix I found on this forum was to remove the system directory (should be somewhere like: C:\Documents and Settings\yourUser\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60 ) and let jDev create a new one. But then I have to reconfigure everything again, which can be frustrating.
Can anyone explain what's going on here, and if there's a better way to fix my jDev when this happens?

  • Coldfusion error displaying in Design view... ???

This just popped up this morning:
It's an error from a cfc I wrote. Why is this displaying in the Design View, and why is it there, especially when the cfc works correctly? To my knowledge, nothing has changed in flex Builder, but any help in removing this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Les

Somehow I managed to remove a section of code from the CFC. Since one of the CFFUNCTIONs was missing, it threw the error, right in design view.
Once I replaced the missing code, everything was back to normal

  • Significance of design view

In the design view the right column doesn't float up to take its place next to the left column (there's enough space for both; together their width is still less than the wrapper), but when I look at it in Live view and preview it in browsers, they appear next to each other, as I intended.
Does it matter that it doesn't look right in design view (apart from the fact that it makes designing more difficult)?
    Thank you.

Without seeing your page, it's impossible to know why the float isn't being rendered in Design view. Normally, it should be. However, the only thing that matters in the end is what it looks like in a browser.
Live View lets you work in the underlying code, so that can help if Design view isn't rendering your page as expected. Press F5 to update what's displayed in Live View.

  • Design View and Browser show different layout

I am having an issue with a site I am working on. The site
    looks great in

have posted 2 screenshots (they are around 140k apiece), they

    What would be causing this?
    Thanks in Advance,

It could be a number of things, but until we see the code it
    would only be,
at best, a guess. Please post the link to the page.

  • How to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column?

Hi...is there a way to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column when the browser window is made smaller? It would be great if the middle (main content) column could get smaller instead of the sidebar moving under the text when the window is made smaller. I'm working with a fluid layout and this is the first time I've tried this. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the link to the website:

  • Last night suddenly when I right-click-view-images in firefox, they appear centered and against a black background. It's usually meant to be a white background and the image appearing at top left. How to revert it?

I'm having trouble with something in firefox, it's quite minor but still bugs me. Last night suddenly when I right-click-view-images in firefox, they appear centered and against a black background. It's usually meant to be a white background and the image appearing at top left. I can't remember what I did to change this if it's my fault; if someone knows how to revert it I'd be thankful.

cor-el : thanks for the pointers! I wish the solution isn't an add-on every time ... if such long-standing behaviour is going to change, the least that could be done is put in an about:config option to get back the old behaviour.

  • Design View suddenly incorrect, Web view looks fine

I uploaded my site and, after doing so, shut down Dreamweaver. The next day, when I opened it again, my pages in Design View looked completely wrong.  The code seems to be fine and when I preview the pages in Google Chrome they look perfect; all the links work, it's all laid-out correctly. I am semi-new to all this; I need to be able to update the site but don't want to risk uploading over a now usable website and render it unusable.
If you need screenshots, let me know, but basically, design view is not being reliable (at all) right now.
Looked at the other post showing same problem but it didn't seem to relate.
I am using Dreamweaver CS3 with Windows XP Home Edition.

As Bregent says, you have an unclosed div, hence the problem with the page.   Other couple of errors you may want to fix as well.  Putting the page through a validator always helps to find initial problems  :-)
Results of putting your page through the validator:
    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsugaredmagnolia.com%2F
    HTML Validator - http://validator.w3.org
    CSS Validator - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
If you use the Firefox browser (which you should to check your pages), there is a toolbar add on that you can download, that includes a a validator tool that checks your pages directly from your own computer without having to upload the pages as you work.

  • Suddenly can't open topics in design view

    Hello -
Last Friday, I had 2 RH projects open when the electricity went out in our building. When I opened these projects on Monday, I suddenly couldn't open most of the topics in design view. A few I can. What happens is that I get the hourglass and then RH stops responding. I waited 10 minutes and no progress. I can still right-click a topic and view/preview it, but I cannot open it in the design window.
So maybe something got hosed in the project, right? Well ... I opened a project that was not open at the time of the power surge and it's experiencing the same issue.
So maybe something in RH itself got hosted, right? Well ... I un-installed and re-installed RH and I still have the issue.
Any ideas? I'm completely at a loss.
    Thanks!
    Barry

    Hi there
Admittedly a long shot here. Have you tried reloading the default environment? Additionally, I'd also click Tools > Options and ensure that the WYSIWYG editor is the default. And if it is, try configuring another editor as the default. Then dismiss the dialogs and reset the default back to the WYSIWYG editor.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Problem Viewing HTML coded website in design view

    Hello,
I've got a functional website I coded (using an html text editor) for a customer some time back that he wants to be able to edit. He doesn't know code, so we got Dreamweaver.
The problem is, a lot of page elements simply won't show up in the Design view (though they do when viewed in a browser). I suspect it may have something to do with older nested Table tags I used, but neither of us is very interested in me rebuilding the site from scratch (which is largely what we were trying to avoid).
The extra odd thing, though, is a lot of the code in question DOES display on the index page, but not on secondary pages, even though it was copy/pasted in the first place.
The website in question is http://ckski.com. The index page shows up fine. (http://ckski.com/Pictures/GoodPage.jpg) On secondary pages, the only thing that shows up in the Design view is the banner image at the top of the page. I get a gridline for the main table structure, but no content (only some errors indicating some extra </td> and </tr> closing tags) (http://ckski.com/Pictures/BadPage.jpg)
View Source should work to check the code, but I can provide anything else that might be needed, such as the CSS page.
    Thanks!
    Travers Jordan

Code errors are responsible for 98% of rendering problems.  Your pages lack a valid doc type declaration which puts them into quirks mode.
On line #1 in code view, change this:
         <html>
    to this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
At least that will give you a fighting chance of validating without errors.  Use the online code validator below to check for other errors in all your site pages.
         http://validator.w3.org/
Incidentally, asking a non-coder to use Dreamweaver is form of punishment.   Basic coding skills are necessary to get the most out of this product.   Anything less is going to result in frustration and confusion.
It's worth noting that DW is NOT a WYSIWYG editor.  Design View is at best, an approximation of what you can expect to see in some browsers.  For best results, use Live View in Split View and edit the code.

    Hi Anita,
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Design view goes blank [CS3]

I usually work with split code + design view
When working with certain files and make a change in code
view(or in a linked .css), and then click in Design view, the
Design view goes totally or partially blank. Either nothing appears
at all, or the content appears up to some point, and the rest up to
    the end is blank.
Once this happens, there is absolutely no way to make the
'hidden' content visible. Tried to switch to another file, to
select code in code view, to edit in code view or even in design
view - no go. I have to close / open the file, and then it appears
normally. But indeed I can't do this every minite, is there some
    solution known?
There is no stuff with visibility set to hidden or alike, if
the content is displayed - it's displayed correctly. Also looks OK
    in all major browsers.
    Thanks

This often happens when you have added such garbage code that
    DW cannot
figure out what to do with it. For example, adding a
    <body> or </body> tag
in the middle of a page can do such things. Might that be
    what's happening
    for you?
