Website turns on volume

Hello folks,
Odd new problem: I generally work with my computer sound completely muted. However, when I navigate to the Doonesbury link (Daily Dose) from Slate, the site seems to automatically turn my computer volume on - to max volume, no less! (It then proceeds to give a loud "boink" when the strip comes up.)
The computer is an iBook G4 and it seems to happen only on my initial navigation to the site in the morning each day.
I've fished around in Safari Prefs, but nothing obvious there. Any thoughts how I can prevent this from occurring? Cheers, all....

Right - here's the Doonesbury link:
http://doonesbury.msn.com/strip/dailydose/index.html
though I normally go to Slate ( http://slate.msn.com/ ) and link to it from their "Today's Doonesbury" link.
As for repeatability, it's happened to me three days in a row now, first thing in the morning when I plug in my laptop. However, when I mute again and then try reloading the site, it doesn't happen. This morning I actually double checked that the mute was on before hitting the Doonesbury site, but it still did it - automatically turned on my sound and cranked it all the way up.

Last night my iphone screen all of a sudden was solid blue and now it is black. I tried turning it on and off.  Still nothing appeared on the screen.  I put it on the charger and this morning it is totally black.  However, when I hit the on and off button, I did hear the text message signal go off. When I turned the volume on and off a big white bell flashed.  In the last week, there were some other display problems such as the screen blowing up large. The only way to fix it was to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.
What does all of this mean? It seems like I've had these problems since the iphone 4 upgrade.

just do reset, press home button and power butoon for a while untill you can see apple
    gud luck

    Thankyouuu
it looks like that when it is locked and when its unlocked it looks like this

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • My sound won't work on my ipod 5. I plugged the speakers in and it works fine.  When the headphones aren't plugged in and I turn the volume up it says that they are plugged in.  Please help !

my sound won't work on my ipod 5. I plugged the speakers in and it works fine.  When the headphones aren't plugged in and I turn the volume up it says that they are plugged in.  Please help !

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. (this was already sugested) There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • I turned on the itunes radio on my computer - I am unable to turn off the music, I turned the volume down, however this isn't the answer

I turned on itunes radio on my desk top computer - now I don't know how to turn it off or get to the icon to at least change the channel.  I turned the volume down on the computer!  any help anyone can give would be appreciated

even if you wipe the drive LoJack is still there, it's installed in a hidden partition so you would have get rid of the entire OS. I caught a glimpse of the culprit and from what I seen he is more of a low life than a computer nerd. It is possible he could have tried to log-in but didn't notice the guest and admin account. While I see what you're saying I still have some hope, from what I've read online it took people more than a day to see that their laptop had gone online. If it can't get replaced LoJack has a $1,000 guarantee but that still doesn't make up for the $3,000 worth of equipment lost.

  • Hi, Just bought an ipod classic 160gb and i notice that when I turn the volume down all the way, music is still heard, i.e. I cannot turn it down lower than a certain volume. Is there a fix for this? Thanks

Hi, Just bought an ipod classic 160gb and i notice that when I turn the volume down all the way, music is still heard, i.e. I cannot turn it down lower than a certain volume. Is there a fix for this? Thanks

I've got a feeling that's the way it is. I know that if I turn the volume down all the way, I can still hear the music very softly -- which is great for listening when I have a migraine!

  • IPhone 4S can not hear music cannot turn down volume

IPhone 4S cannot hear music playing cannot turn down volume or in control center... PLEASE HELP!!

I asked that question in regards to your comment about a red zone in volume. I do not have that on my phone.
You state that you have already done a restore, so the only other step in troubleshooting is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the device checked by Apple.

  • I can't turn the volume up or down on my MacBook Pro?

I can't turn the volume up or down on my MacBook Pro? It shows a kind of "stop" sign? I can get the speakers to work by connecting my headphones to the computer and choosing the sound to be on the speakers, but as soon as I take the headphones out, I can't get any sound out of the speakers..
Sometimes there is a "Red" light coming out of the AUX-port?

    Hey vgamborg,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
This article should help you troubleshoot issues playing sound from the built-in speakers. Try the steps listed, and I quoted a part about the red light.
Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1574
Check to see if a red light is lit in the line-out port. If so, your Apple computer may need service.

  • Why do I have to turn the volume in my car up to at least 30 to hear newer songs from iTunes normally? Older versions I can hear just fine at a volume of 12

Topic says it, I can't hear the newer songs unless I turn the volume in my car up to 30, yet I can hear other songs at 12, so my volume is set at 30 from one song then another song comes on and I go deaf

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!!  (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
    Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
    2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
    Should solve your problem :~)
