Websites look wrong (i.e. w/o formatting)

When I go to websites on Firefox many of them appear to be without formatting or really basic. For example on Yahoo there are no headlines or toolbars, everything is just laid out like you'd see on a site's site map. I can't access videos on Youtube because 1. the entire website looks messed up and there is no way to determine where the original buttons were and 2. videos won't load. The only websites that seem to avoid this problem are Mozilla.com, Wikipedia, and Google. Everything else is messed up and the styling is all wrong so I can't really navigate or use the site. I'm not sure what caused the problem because I've never had it before and early this morning there wasn't a problem, it appeared randomly later in the day today. Thanks for your help!

  • Script not loading; website looks wrong

    I made a website in dreamweaver (www.clbkompas.be)
When i look at the site in internet explorer, everything looks ok. When i look at the site in firefox, de dropdown menus don't show.
I just get some sort of a scroll thingy but it doesn't show the choises in my menu.
    HELP!!!

That Spry menu bar script doesn't seem to be working in Firefox (and Google Chrome), so you may need to look for another JavaScript library if there isn't a working update for that script.

  • Websites look wrong after update to FF6

Typography of the website changes after the update to 6. No problem what so ever with IE or Safari. Also not with the 3.x version of FF

Any particular reason that you are rendering back to DVCPro HD? That's a non square pixel format designed for cameras not delivery of product, it is not suitable for DI (digital intermediates) or delivery to anything standard. I would do all my work in a standard HD 1920 X 1080 comp and render my DI and Delivery product to that frame size. AE will automatically adjust your DVCPro HD footage.
The only reason that I can think of to render to DVCProHD is to copy your footage back to tape or to storage cards to playback on a camera or DVCProHD deck, but if you have a capture card that you are using to output to tape, and I see you do, then your system will work with standard HD files just fine.
As far as the QT wrapper being broken, if you must render back to DVCPro HD the try the Adobe Media Encoder. It does a better job compressing things than the Render Cue.
As a last thought, do what Szalam suggestes, update.

...When I publish my flash website (using Flash 8) it comes out looking like a chunk of the website taken from the middle of the active area and enlarged! The buttons still work, there are no scroll bars to see the rest though.

If anyone could help me out that would be wonderful!

  • Firefox cannot load websites but others can, websites look wrong, started happening after i ran some update. i am not computer literate

that is all the details i can provide, is there anyway for phone assist otherwise i'm screwedc

    Start with this;
Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
    Check the settings.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
    If there is still a problem, go to that computer and do this;
Type '''about:support''' in the address bar and press '''Enter.'''
Under the main banner, press the button; '''Copy Text To Clipboard.'''.
Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page,

  • Websites look wrong, have to empty cache 3x a day. Les sites ne s'affichent pas correctement, je dois vider le cache 3x par jour.

Hello, since I started using Firefox 18.0 on Windows 8 it continuosly show webpages wrong. It works fine when I empty the cache but after a while it starts showing some wepages completely wrong. I have to empty the cache like 3 times a day and this bothers me. Is there any proper solution for this? The only adonn I've installed so far is adblock.

Well, it seems that the resetting Firefox worked out, I really don't understand why neither why it still did it wrong once. So many thanks for your advices.

  • Websites look wrong

Some of my websites dont display properly...print is not aligned, sometimes there is print over other print...columns are not where they should be etc....facebook is not displaying properly either...my internet banking is nearly unuseable in firefox now...I have cleared the cache several times...makes no difference...javascript is enabled etc...and no firewalls stopping it working....
I have always liked firefox and have been using it for years...but I am having to use explorer at the moment as firefox just isn't doing it.
I am using windows 7 as my operating system.
    please help

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages:
    *Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    *NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/

  • Skin Tones Look Wrong When Printing From iPhoto

    Hi
I'm having trouble getting the caucasian skin tones to look right on photos printed with my Epson Stylus C86 printer on Epson Premium Semigloss paper. They look too pinky/purple when compared with the screen of the Sony DSC camera I shot them with and also my iMac's monitor. They just look wrong as though the subjects have a combination of bad sunburn, high blood pressure and are blushing at the same time!
I've tried the following tips synthesised from other threads:
    1. Downloaded the latest set of drivers from Epson's website.
    2. Ensured that they are associated with the printer in ColorSync utility.
    3. Selected the Use ColorSync option when printing from iPhoto's print dialogue box.
These made no difference to the default behaviour i.e. same color problems.
Could anyone guide me to a solution? I would rather not have to use another application to print them if possible. I'm not used to my Mac not "just working".
    Thanks

What color profile do the pics have? Is the printer set to the same profile?
    Regards
    TD

  • How to make website look correct in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome?

Hello there. I'm working on a website which was inherited to me by someone who died. So I am left with all of his coding which is about 4 years old. Now I'm working on positioning of the website and i've found that the only browser the website looks like it's supposed to is Safari and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it look right in all the browsers and on a phone or tablet. It might be easier if I started from scratch but unfortunately I don't get that luxury. Please help me.
    Here's a link...MuseumOfNaturalistory.com

I dont understand what some of these errors are asking of me. For instance, this one...
    if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200)

This message may appear in several cases:
You tried to include the "<" character in your page: you should escape it as "&lt;"
You used an unescaped ampersand "&": this may be valid in some contexts, but it is recommended to use "&amp;", which is always safe.
Another possibility is that you forgot to close quotes in a previous tag.
That's the way the code has to be in order to function. What does it want from me?
    And then here....
Line 71, Column 5: an attribute value must be a literal unless it contains only name characters   </div>✉You have used a character that is not considered a "name character" in an attribute value. Which characters are considered "name characters" varies between the different document types, but a good rule of thumb is that unless the value contains only lower or upper case letters in the range a-z you must put quotation marks around the value. In fact, unless you have extreme file size requirements it is a very very good idea to always put quote marks around your attribute values. It is never wrong to do so, and very often it is absolutely necessary.
Line 71, Column 5: character "<" is not allowed in the value of attribute "id"   </div>✉It is possible that you violated the naming convention for this attribute. For example, id and name attributes must begin with a letter, not a digit.
I have absolutely no clue what it is asking of me. Doesn't it have to be that way? Also why when I go to "Line 71" that isn't where this actual code is? Is there some special way to decipher this?

  • SharePoint publishing website runs wrong after several days, but return correct after reset IIS

"List View Lookup Threshold" up to 50 in resource throttling, but this keep occurs sometimes.
could you give me some clue to solve this permanently?
    Thanks very much in advance!

I am sure you are using BLOB cache. Try to disable it and check. I have seen this issue with BLOB cache.
Do we see some error in ULS logs and Event viewer
Use fiddler and check if there is something like 404.
Try below tool on your code

  • Mail.app "Looks" Wrong

Suddenly, Mail.app just simply "looks" wrong (running Mac OS X 10.4.8, Mail 2.1 (752/752.2):
    1. New message count no longer shows up on Mail's Dock icon
    2. When viewing a message with either the preview pane or a separate window, the basic headers are spread way out vertically; large white vertical spacing between header elements. Highlighting the header shows the spaces appear to be separate, empty boxes. Plus, the font that I'm used to seeing the header displayed with seems the same, but different.
2.1 Changing the message viewing type exhibits odd behaviors as well. Changing to raw source looks as expected. Then changing to original format goes back to showing the odd looking headers but with the raw source (in raw source font) following the headers.
    3. The new message count numbers in the main viewing list is the normal font, but much larger.
I've removed the Mail caches and preferences. No changes. All disk and privileges are fine. I see no other oddities in any other apps.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Have you recently installed, removed or disabled any
    fonts?
OS X fonts, no. I did remove the Classic OS environment from my system, including all those fonts from the System Folder > Fonts directory.
I only recently installed the Classic OS environment. Mail.app was working correctly before Classic was installed. It was working correctly while Classic was installed. While I can't definitively say that Mail.app stopped working correctly immediately upon Classic's removal, it does appear to be coincidental.
For the sake of argument, let's suppose Mail.app did link itself to a Classic font, the question I have is... why? If it worked before Classic, it apparently didn't need any Classic fonts. Why all of a sudden would it need to use them?
Thanks for your response. It did force me to think of other reasons why Mail is showing this odd behavior.

  • FF 9.01 has bizzare behavior, sever not found, sites look wrong, left tab back, failed sign ons, etc.

'''Anyone else having problems with FF 9.0.1? I mean multiple, strange problems! Ever since I upgraded to this latest version of Firefox 9.0.1, I have frequent "server not found" on common web sites like www.google.com, www.amazon.com, www.tvguide.com, etc.
All these problem are frequent but inconsistent. Happens most, but not all of the time. Repeated attempts to execute a site url will, eventually (usually) get a good response.
Further, when pages are found, they open up looking wrong - unformatted text, no graphics, missing html commands, etc.
Also, on several sites, I am unable to sign on or exchange information/data. Logons are not accepted, fail or are repeated over and over, responses not recognized, etc. This seems to especially true for Yahoo and ATT web sights.
Lastly, just to add insult to injury, that damnable left side tab on my Google home page (igoogle) is BACK!!
Switching to Chrome and/or IE eliminates these problems, but I still prefer FF!
'''I have reviewed the articles here and tried several alterations on the config page, but nothing has helped.'''
I have flushed my cache, cookies, history with no benefit! I have also, as I am now, started FF in safe mode band EVEN in SAFE MODE, with EVERYTHING disabled, I still get the bizzare responses and the left tab is still back.
Is there a way to reload FF completely with every thing set as itv it was BEFORE the last upgrade or to go back to an earlier version? What is it about 9.0.1 that is causing all these problems?
BTW, incidently, aabout the same time as upgrading FF, I also switched from Comcast cable ISP to ATT DSL ISP at a even higher speed - 18.0 Mbps. Not sure if that matters; I think the behavior was evident BEFORE the switch over.
Any ideas or suggestions? Are the setting in my config under "useragent" correct? The Ivp6 settings?

I think it's time to bring some of those kryptonian super powers of yours in to play! :)
Yes, I am still having problems. I tried to load in the online site for my bank, Navy Federal Credit Union. I got the old "server not found" BS. I did as you suggested and executed a SHIFTED Reload and that worked, at least in the since that I was able to get the opening page.
However, when I went to sign on, the trouble appeared. Similar to the failed logons and recycling sign ons that I had seen on Yahoo and a few other sites, WHEN I logged onto NFCU's page (they have an unusual three part logon), as soon as I sign on I am IMMEDIATELY told I have "timed out" on the session and am kicked off. Repeated attempts to access my account yields the same thing over and over. I tried to sign on using Internet Explorer and there was NO PROBLEM AT ALL, so the issue is specific to FF.
I then flushed the cache and retied; no luck. I tried SAFE MODE and again no luck. I then went in a flushed the cache, again, and deleted all associated cookies. Again no luck.
Then I flushed the cache, reset ALL the preferences and tried again, still no luck.
As it stands now, I have reset the USERAGENT entries, flushed the cache, reset the preferences and, removed the cookies and still, EVEN in SAFE mode, Firefox and NFCU can't get along. Neither can Yahoo.com!
So, after all that,I am at my wits end. Suggestions? Should I send you a refreshed copy of my troubleshooting dump?
Keep in mine that I have, up until 9.0.1 came out, been using FF to aces s all these sites without any problems. So I guess the question has to be: Exactly what was changed in 9.0.1 from the previous version that has made it act this way?
Ideas? Suggestions? Fixing this has become a full time job!

  • Need advice on how to make my website look better!

ive made a website for a security company but im just not 100% happy with it, i dont know if it doesnt look professional enough or things need changing design wise. i am open to any ideas on how to make my website look better, i also dont mind if anyone wants to dramtically change it if their idea is better. I would just very much appreciate a review and constructive critisism and ideas for a newly designed version of the site please!
    [advertising slogan removed by host]
    Thanks!

As a novice, some things I see: The footer has redundant, unecessary images (4 large images-for your services--REDUNDANT) odd? The text part of footer: text seems close, scrunched, have some space between heading and items, DO NOT CENTER TEXT!,
One of the service links bought to page with SAME LARGE image on homepage-change picture, don't use same large image for 2 different pages.
DO NOT use CONTACT US as 1 of 5 links on menubar. Do in another creative way, and/or use footer for contact. I think this looks amateurish (my opinion of course).
If I remember, the homepage and the rest of site, have exact same page structure.--See if you can atleast change the structure of inner pages versus the homepage.
    Didn't look at enough, but..maybe...
each of your services should be a main menu link on your menubar. I would not put contact us on menubar, and you also had another menubar link with no dropdown( of course ok, but maybe could restructure)--Also your last service (on right of menubar)---why is that one different, and not included with the other services??
Seems like your menubar (items) structure could be reworked.--I would suggest, briefly looking at, to maybe have each service as a primary menu heading/title..YOU MAY NOT NEED A DROPDOWN MENU? Make sure if dropdown it is necessary.
Local security should be one of your services.
Have your footer logo, as is to left, but maybe put your footer links more to the right;;It will 'balance' the footer section
Your top logo seems too close to your main LARGE image (Which btw, seems oddly large compared to the rest of your site?)--That LARGE top image(the same palce on every same looking page), seems too big for your page--Why doen't it line up with the rest off your page content?

  • My website looks fine in other browsers but on firefox it comes up like an index with the title first and on the second line it says skip to content. Can this be fixed?

When I look at my website it loads up as an index with the heading on the top line and then a link saying "skip to content" and then the navigation is in bullet points. I have downloaded the latest version of firefox and this has not improved the situation. The website looks fine in other browsers.

Make sure that you do not block the CSS files on that page.
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
