Websites not displaying properly after reset - Strange horizontal bars across screen.

Hi all,
Recently AVG updated on my PC. I'm normally on the ball with things like this and always prevent the add ons self installing such as free search tools etc but this one slipped past me. The end result was that whenever I opened a new tab AVG had hijacked FF and I was presented with an AVG search page. Tried getting rid of it without success so reset FF.
Since doing this some (not all) sites have display problems. The most affected seem to be Ebay and FB. What happens is after the page loads and I scroll down most of the page dissapears behind horizontal black and grey bars. It certainly wasnt like this prior to the reset so something has obviously gone afoot in settings but I could do with some help as to which settings need to be re tweaked. If it helps I can grab a screen shot of the problem and host it.
In case its relevant I'm running Win 7 64bit ultimate.
Many thanks, Chris

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

  • Unicode Characters not displaying properly after updating to 13.0.1+

Previously, I had installed the Symbola font because certain symbols were not displaying properly in Firefox (notably on Twitter). Installing the font solved the problem for the most part (the four bit hex characters still didn't show up, but the six bit ones did).
After updating to 13.0.1 the other day, the six bit hex codes do not show the correct symbol anymore with Symbola still installed. I even deleted Symbola from my fonts, redownloaded it (a newer version, no less), installed it, and opened Firefox, and it did not solve the issue. Like the 50 million other things that Firefox broke with the update to 13. -_-
EDIT: This issue has since persisted with 14.0.1.

Try to install the DejaVu font.

  • Website not displayed properly

I am professional blogger and writes on my website http://www.2013ipl.in and http://www.iplfan.com for IPL related stuff which is sports events. I am using Worldwidelab theme which is using Wordpress platform.
When I see my website using Mozilla for Android, it does not display proper website. If I use other browsers like Opera Mini and others, It displays properly. So, what is the problem of this issue? Is it problem related to Wordpress theme or else?

I don't see anything major wrong. Would you explain the issue in greater detail?

  • Since updating to Firefox 4, why is my website not displaying properly?

Sine updating to Firefox 4, one of my websites - www.fonografiacollective.com - is not displaying the home page properly. For some reason, it is showing our logo twice. This site has a WordPress CMS, and I am not technically savvy enough to know what is not compatible with the new version of Firefox. Please help as soon as possible.
    Thanks so much-
    Bear Guerra

I think that is is caused because you place a block element (DIV) in an inline element (A)<br />
    You can't do that.<br />
It works if I disable the HTML5 parser, but with HTML5 enabled I see an extra A tag and all A tags are closed and reopened.
    <pre><nowiki><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"> /* inline */
    <div class="logo"> /* block */
    <h1 class="hometitle">
    <a href="http://fonografiacollective.com/" title="fonografia collective">fonografia collective</a> /* block */
    </h1>
    </div></nowiki></pre>
Generated source from the DOM with HTML5 enabled:
    <pre><nowiki><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"></a>
    <div class="logo">
    <a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"></a>

  • Fonts not displaying properly after 10.0 update (Mac OS X)

After I updated to Firefox 10.0, almost all websites now default to Times Roman, even after I have set Helvetica as my default font as well as have checked "allow pages to choose their own fonts".
I tried trashing prefs, reinstalling the previous version of FF but to no avail.
Never had this issue before and all fonts are displaying properly in Safari and Chrome.
    Any ideas?

Ok repaired permissions and now ''some'' fonts display properly but some are still times roman. Even explicitly setting fonts in Firebug doesn't change them...

  • Website not displaying properly in Safari

    Hi
I have a MacBook Air.  One of my favourite websites (my sons' school) has suddenly stopped displaying properly - no images, just text on a black screen.  The text is the menu that should down the left hand column of the website, but none of the content which usually displays alongside it is visible (picture inserted below)
I thought it must be the site's problem but it displays perfectly on my other devices.  I suspect if may be something to do with caches (if Macs have them?) I have tried clearing my browsing history but to no avail.  As there are new pics up of my kids I would love to work out how to get it to display again - any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.

  • Website Not Displaying Properly In IE, Windows 7

My first Muse created website is at http://gordonsportfolio.businesscatalyst.com where it displays as designed in Firefox, Safari, iPad, and iPhone. Using a friend's Windows 7 laptop, however, it does not display as designed and, in fact, is missing all the navigation buttons and the layers are not where they should be. Is this to be expected? Is this normal for Internet Explorer?

Thank you so much for replying on a Saturday Zak. Sorry not to include a screen capture, but I don't know the first thing about PCs, only Mac. On Macs this site looks great, but I'm using it to look for work and afraid everybody on a PC will think I'm an idiot for not fixing this before applying. Will use your suggestion and see if it doesn't help (pretty sure it will).
    Thank you Zak!!

yahoo mail is not working and open properly in firefox i had see a solution for this that is reset the fire fox but after done also that this is not working

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Why is my website not displaying graphics after first few loads

    hi,
i have a wordpress based website. it exhibits a strange problem - on some computers, when using firefox, the site will load just fine the first 5 - 10 times. but any visit after that, the site will load without any graphics (no background, header images etc...), as if the .css file isn't loading. again - this never happenes the first time you load the site, and it never happenes with chrome. i have had this problem on my computer, and another user reported this problem. is there something about my site that could be messing up firefox caching and is causing this?
the problem can sometimes be fixed temporarily (sometimes by shift-refresh, sometimes by re-installing FF) but it allways comes back after a day or two.
please, a lot of my users are FF users (as am i) and i'de hate to lose traffic because of this - does anyone have any idea what the problem is? ( i believe the problem is somehow with the site itself, but i can't figure out how that can be)
    thank you

maybe it works fine because you haven't loaded it enough times. this is very frustrating - after clearing the cach the site loads fine again, for a while, but the problem always comes back - and then i have to clear the cach again.
i tried safe mode, tried new profile, tried every generic cahc problem soloution. nothing works.
i viewed the problematic css file in cachviewer, this is the info on the file when the site works fine:

Before doing any worrying about layout problems, please fix the errors shown here -
    http://validator.w3.org/unicorn/check?ucn_uri=http://www.braintree.gov.uk/intranet_test/in dex.html&ucn_task=conformance
It makes no sense to troubleshoot a page that contains invalid code!
I note that your approach to layout is to use absolute positioning for everything.  This is deadly.  To see what I mean, browse to your page and increase the text size several times in the browser.  Get the picture?  That's what happens when you layout the page with absolutely positioned containers for your text.  Please read this to find a MUCH better way -

  • Website not displaying properly in IE9

    Hi there,
I've built a site that seems to render properly in every browser except IE9. It doesn't look the best in IE6 either but in IE9 it's a complete shambles. The divs are all over the place.
The only reason I know this is because I'm looking at it in Adobe Browser lab (not on an actual computer with IE9). Any thoughts offered on the reliability of this method for testing are welcome.
    Here's the site: http://www.classifiedpages.co.nz
    I attach 2 pics:
    1. showing what it should look like
    2. showing how it renders in IE9
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to fix it.

Invalid code is hard to troubleshoot.  Start by fixing your HTML code errors mentioned below:
    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.classifiedpages.co.nz%2F
    And some significant CSS errors:
    http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. classifiedpages.co.nz%2F
You have several orphaned list tags.
Character "&" should be replaced with "& amp ; " (code without spaces or quotes = ampersand).

My website boscarn wedding cars opens as it should using internet explorer or chrome etc, however recently I received complaints about the layout or display of my website using mozilla firefox.
I have investigated and research ways to fix this and have gotten no where.
I have no control over people using firefox if they want to, but when it starts effecting my business I have to try and get it sorted.
I use windows xp pro but know that this same thing happens on windows 7 and 8 also.
I use daily.com instant website, web hosting to create my website. The site is www.boscarnweddingcars.co.uk please take a look and advise on how to fix this problem.
Please get back to me as soon as possible. this is my livelyhood.

I have this problem, too with my website, www.intimacytravel.com. See the comparison attached between using Firefox and the way it should look using Internet Explorer. I also have a problem editing the site with Firefox.

  • Time Machine Disk Icon not Displaying Properly After Reconnect

I'm noticing a little oddity that has been happening since I upgraded to Mavericks.  If I disconnect my Time Machine (TM) volume, then, reconnect it later and perform a backup, the disk icon on my desktop isn't changing to the green TM icon, it's still displaying as the orange Firewire icon.  I can correct this by opening the TM preferences, clicking "select disk" and, then, reselecting my TM volume.  The icon will, then, change and it will remain correct as long as the volume is connected.  Normally, the icon should change automatically when the first backup is initiated.
Anyone else seen this and know why this might be happening?  I'm wondering if there might be something screwy with my TM preferences.  As a next step, I might try resetting TM (i.e. trashing the .plist file) and see if that fixes the behavior.
This isn't affecting TM functionality at all.  TM is still working perfectly.  This is, at best, an annoyance.

I suspect Apple took this funcionality out of Mavericks for some reason.  I'm running several Macs at our business, and they all are doing the same thing.

  • Websites not displaying correctly

Just installed Firefox 7.0.1. (on Windows 7). Several websites not displayed properly, eg BBC which gives this message: "This page is best viewed in an up-to-date web browser with style sheets (CSS) enabled. While you will be able to view the content of this page in your current browser, you will not be able to get the full visual experience. Please consider upgrading your browser software or enabling style sheets (CSS) if you are able to do so." Any suggestions?
