Websites not showing up in iWeb

I have some websites that were created in an earlier version of iWeb that show up in the Sites folder on the MobileMe website, but they DO NOT show up in iWeb. I cannot figure out how to "sync" my local iWeb with what is on MobileMe. Any Suggestions?

There is no way to "sync" your local iWeb with what is on MobileMe. Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
By the way, for searching purposes it may be useful to know that an iWeb '06 Domain file is called "Domain.sites" and iWeb '08 & '09 Domain files are called "Domain.sites2" — although the “.sites” extension is usually invisible.
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

Aperture is not showing up on iWeb or iMovie

My library in Aperture is not showing up on iWeb or iMovie. All that shows up is iPhoto which I dont have much on there so right now my temp fix is transferring the photos I need to iPhoto and then using but shouldnt Aperture integrate the same way.

It definitely should. Have you set Aperture to always share Previews with the iLife and iWorks Appications?
Aperture main menu -> Aperture -> Preferences -> The Previews Tab
Set this to "Share previews with iLife and iWorks", also to "New Projects automatically generate previews" and select a reasonable preview size, the size of your screen would be perfect.
If you already had sharing enabled, update the previews: Photos -> Update Previews
or Photos -> Delete Previews, and then "Update"
If this did not help, you may have a problem, that the Media Browser does not recognize your Library:
Create a new (temporary) Aperture Library: File -> Switch to Library -> Other/new
Then Quit Aperture, open Aperture again,
Switch to your old Library: File -> Switch to Library -> Your main Aperture Library
Quit Aperture again.
Hopefully the iApps now will show Aperture.
If not, maybe there are problems with your Preferences or the Library needs fixing: Then go thru the drill of the Trouble Shooting basics:

Drop Shadows on my frame are not showing up with iweb 2.04 and firefox please help!
They show up with safari but not firefox. I've read that publishing to mobile me solves it but I publish to my hard drive and ftp to my host (not mobile me).

Drop shadows, borders etc are a bad idea in that they increase the file size and the download time of your page.
Create your image, drop shadow etc on your iWeb page, take a screenshot, crop it and replace the original image with the, much reduced, JPEG>

Photos not showing up when iweb site published

Once the website has been updated to iweb 08 the photos on pages do not show up.
Has anyone found a solution to this?

I am having the same problem and I built my site from iWeb 2.02 from the start. The curious thing is that the pictures show up on my G4 but not on my old G3 which runs OS X 10.3.9. Most of my friends are getting the pictures too. Could it be a computer problem instead of an iWeb publishing problem!?!

Why is my website not showing up AT ALL in Google?

I uploaded my website at the beginning of this week and it's working OK, but not showing up at all in Google. It is not so much an SEO question, because even if I google the exact website, it still doesn't show.
I have no idea what I did wrong, but I assume it's a meta data issue. What should I have filled out in the HTML for <head> box? It's blank now.

You didn't do anything wrong most likely. It takes time to get indexed. Could be months depending on how your site is optimized, your content and traffic you generate to it.

Top of website not showing

Hi - My website does not show up in full in Mozilla. The top of the website which also includes some menu items is completely missing. The website was developed in Joomla 2.5. Website address is www.irishsevensummits.com

Some of the content seems to be missing because it is shifted up.
This style rule in Firefox for div .sub_container seems to fix it to compensate for the .banner {margin-top:-140px;} rule.

I don't know if there is a better way to position all elements in a better way.
I notice a lot of white space in the CSS file that doesn't make it easy to inspect this file.

Files put on server fine, website not showing

Good evening! I'm brand new at this website development. I
thought I had a great page, previewed it ~ looked great and all
links worked, uploaded it onto the remote server. Host agency says
all files look fine on their end. However, website is not showing.
Help.....

Videos not showing up in iWeb

Hello,
I am trying to publish some videos to iWeb but when I drag videos into my page the contol shows up
it plays audio but no video..... I recently updated my G5 to lepoard and iLife 08. Have not had any problems until this. Any ideas?

I should add that my previous videos do not show up as well

The iWeb '08 nightmare has begun! My ENTIRE site does not show up in iWeb!

*Remember the whole iWeb 1.0.1 fiasco?* I think we are all gonna have to live through that again with iWeb '08. During the first fiasco, it took Apple more than 2 months to issue a fix, lets hope it doesn't take them as long this sime.
*So my problem:* I imported my iWeb 06 domain into iWeb 08. It was a simple site with only 8 pages. Of those 8 pages, only the first page shows up in iWeb 08. All the other pages are just blank!!!!! I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me as I need to get changes to my site online ASAP!

We had the same problem.
Here's what we did.
I don't think that this first step is crucial but I'll include it as it was what we did.
1. move the Domain file from
~/library/application support/iweb
to the desktop
2. option-click on iweb application to open it
3. select "open domain"
4. locate the domain file you wish to open
That's it
This also fixed a publishing problem we were having as well
the only issue with this "fix" is that when you open iWeb after doing this, iWeb will ask you to select a domain each time. We deleted the prefences for iweb which fixed this issue but took us back to square one regarding the sites content.
I'd rather select the domain each time I open iWeb than be faced with a page without content

Aperture library not showing in mail, iweb or iphoto

After upgrading to 3.1 my Aperture Library is not coming up in other applications. It also is not showing up as an option for screen saver. Anyone have this issue?

Do you have everything looking right inside the library? Can you go into your Aperture library bundle and see if you have the following files: an ApertureData.xml file, an iLifeShared folder, and inside the iLifeShared folder a file called ApertureDatabaseTimestamp?

Iweb website not showing up at all on any search engine

I recently switched from Windows to a Mac (and its a big improvement, really pleased with it). As we run 2 tiny businesses, one of my first projects was to make 2 websites in iweb and publish them via ftp to the domains I purchased (both hosted by free virtual servers). When I type in the web address in the Safari browser bar, the websites display and work perfectly. However, for one website, when I google any of the keywords (i.e. santa, reindeer and horse-drawn sleigh hire), or the actual company name (Santa and Co), or the specific web address (www.santaandco.com), nothing comes up apart from the freevirtualservers awaiting content thing. When I click on this, it goes straight to the website, all working fine! I don't expect to be on the first page of google, and this question isn't about how to improve my ranking on search engines, but normally when you google a company name or specific website address it comes up somewhere with the actual site! To make sure, I made a site for a friend (www.djfatboy.co.uk) and the same thing applies - nothing comes up. When I search for www.djfatboy.co.uk it doesn't exist, although typing the address in the browser bar brings the site up working perfectly. I have got cyberduck but as the sites display fine I'm assuming its another problem.
The other website I made for our business (www.horsedrawnpromotions.com) has a different issue but I'd like to get the Santa and Co one sorted first! I don't know where I'm going wrong, and apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place but I haven't got a clue how to fix things, or even what this issue could relate to. Please help!! Thanks.

You need to let the search engines know that your site actually exists or they won't be able to index it. Go to Google and there should be somewhere to register your site. Once they know you are there they can start indexing it.
Also, you can download iWebSEO where you can add tags and page names etc. to help your site be found more easily in searches, but first make sure that the search engines know your site is there.

Aperture project photos not showing up in iWeb

Hi, I posted this in the iWeb board as well, but have gotten no response.
I use iWeb to create a website based around my photography and a blog I update periodically. I have been using this combination for at least two years now with no problems. By the way, the OS is SL 10.6.2, the Aperture version is 2.1.4, I use iLife '09 and all current patches and updates for each of the above is current according to Software Update.
The problem I am experiencing is with the Media Browser in iWeb. For one project only, when I click on the project in the Media Browser, no photos display in the lower half of the browser. The project in question is a new one, but other newer projects are not exhibiting this behavior. For all other projects, albums, smart albums, etc. photos appear when the project/album button is clicked. I have deleted the plist file for iWeb, restarted iWeb and Aperture, rebooted the machine (iMac Core Duo 24" late 2007), and tried every other combination I can think of.
Does anyone have any idea of why this behavior is occurring and what I can do to remedy it? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Have you tried regenerating the previews for that Project? Go to the project, select all the images then choose Images >> Delete Previews followed by Images >> Update Previews.
Deleting the previews first isn't strictly necessary, but it's good to start with a clean slate.

Graphic elements not showing up in iWeb

I'm using Pure CSS to develop a menu for my iweb site. After I've created the menu using Pure CSS; I export the html and graphical elements into a folder on my desktop. I then add the html using add html snippet. The menu imports without any of the graphical elements (button graphics). Any idea on how I can get the full menu imported and working?

Thanks. I have my website setup on MediaTemple (a commercial web hosting platform). I'll try publishing the new menu directly to the live site. When I publish to a folder on my local drive the graphic elements don't show up. When I open the HTML file in an html editor (such as Komodo or Aptana Studio), it displays the menu perfectly.
I'm new to the process of FTP'ing my iWeb site a live server. Hopefully, it will pull up all the required files and work.

Website not showing photos?

I feel like I'm missing something very obvious here--but here goes anyway.
Uploaded photos onto my photography website last year, have updated it a few times, always successfully. Now when I go to the website the photos don't show up. The Home Page and Bibliography type page show up with their photos, but the pages with more photographs just have the text.
The pages still look normal in iWeb itself, and just aren't showing up when I visit the site, or when other people visit it (I've asked a few to check for me).
What should I do?

Make sure you've updated to the latest iWeb version, iWeb 2.0.4, and then use the File->Publish All to MobileMe menu option to republish you site.
