Websites that have Videos that play perfectly in iPad Safari

Of course websites with embedded links to YouTube work well, but I've found a few sites that videos play great on:
- The Onion: www.theonion.com
- CNN: www.cnn.com
- Funny or Die: www.funnyordie.com (very good quality)
Partial:
- NY Times: www.nytimes.com (some videos are not converted to HTML5 and don't work right still)
Any others that you've found and like?

Open the Flash Player pane in System Preferences and select the Camera and Mic tab. Deselect the radio button marked

Anything that will play from Samba network file store..
You will probably also need filebrowser loaded on the ipad to find the files.
Is the ipad necessary btw.. ?? If you only want to play the file to your TV you can buy a WD Live TV.. unlike the Apple TV it is a media player.. and can play files of almost any format direct from the TC.

  • After the latest update of ios 7 none of the videos are playing in my iPad Air

I have updated the latest version 2 weeks ago. After that no video is playing in my air . Also the wifi access speed went very very slow. I am sure the speed is not like previous. Requesting u team to plz check and update with a resolution. Thanks in advance

    Hello Ashok Ganesan,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with watching videos on your iPad Air, as well as the slow Wi-Fi issue you are experiencing.
First, I recommend using these steps to troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing with watching videos (you can skip step 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPad before performing the restore:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
I recommend the following steps for the Wi-Fi issue you described:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your W-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If the issue is still unresolved Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • Getting videos to play on my iPad

Does anyone know how to get videos to play on the iPad? On my iPhone I was able to convert videos files to mp4 and then they would show up in my library. I can not get my iPad to do this. Anyone know how???

The process is the same but the constraints are slightly different - there are plenty of threads on the subject and as long as the video complies with the specification below, it will transfer. If it isn't transferring then there is something out of spec for that particular video.
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • No video will play on my iPad mini.

No video will play on my iPad mini. I have upgraded  the iOS, I have shut down all apps and reset. Still just getting a black screen when I press play on any video in any app or website

I have this same problem, with my iPad 2.  All was fine until I updated to IOS 7.0.6.  Now when I am in sites with imbedded You Tube videos, nothing will play.  Videos appear to load & then I get a black screen.  I have done same - shut down all apps & reset.  Any other ideas?  Thx.

  • Why can't I get you tube videos to play on my iPad?

Why can't I get YouTube videos to play on my iPad?

I don't know. They play just fine on mine. Haw are you trying to view them?

I have rented 2 movies the past 9 days and they won't transfer to my iPad (first generation).  Get the same error message that says they cannot be played on my iPad.  I haven't watched either movie and this is the first time I have ever had this happen after several successful movie rentals and transfers.

When you have a query please post the feed URL rather than its contents. For the record, yours is at
    http://www.honywoodschool.com/podcast/44986
I don't have an iPad to test this, so I can only refer you to Apple's Podcast Tech Specs page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#formattingvideo
This says that the maximum video size for an iPad is 1024x768 - your latest episode is 1280x720.
    Slightly confusingly, it also says
'iPad & Apple TV can play the following video formats:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format'
which suggests that mp4 files are even more limited.
Incidentally your feed gives this URL for the media file:
    http://www.honywoodschool.com/user/59/133934.mp4
However when downloaded this produces a file called 'howtosetupappeid.mp4' so soe sort of redirect appears to be in place, and these can sometimes cause trouble. It's better to link directly to the file - it's possible that the iPad doesn't handle the redirect.
That's all I can suggest: if it still doesn't cover the problem I can only refer you to the iPad forum where someone may be able to actually try your podcast and offer a comment.

  • Why is my macbook DVD player no longer playing commercial DVD's that it used to play perfectly? It reads the disc, but then says not permitted when I hit play. It is much older than 12 months warantee so I hope there is an easy fix?

The macbook reads a disc, and opens up DVD player but then says not permitted when I hit play, or any other button. Sometimes the initial music plays, but the screen remains black and then it all stops. These are shop bought DVD's that have previously worked on here, and work in DVD players, but have suddenly stopped. The computer is much older than the12 months warantee so I hope there is an easy fix? Thankyou!

    Three things you can try:
    1. Clean the superdrive with a proprietory CD/DVD lens cleaner that uses tiny brushes.
    2. Perform an SMC reset:
Resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) on Intel-based Macs:

If you are using a Wireless Keyboard:

    3. Try the free DVD player VLC:

which performs better than the built-in DVD Player.

  • "Just Type" "Search Using" Automatically adds websites you have visited that have search capabilities.

Is there any way to turn off this functionality or at least clean up the list?  I have been to so many websites that have the search and this list is huge!  I have searched every where and cannot find out how to clean it.
I would invoke the "chat" with HP support but I know they cannot handle this.  The last 3 times I "chatted" they gave incorrect information.
I did report feedback to request the function.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Once again as I explained in the previous posting all you have to do is follow these steps to stop searching on sites or apps that you do not want to search on.
Tap on the Just Type search bar, tap on the Just Type menu in the top left corner of the screen, then uncheck any item or turn off any section you want to, to customize your searches. This will stop the search on any URL's or apps that you uncheck or turn off.
As far as a search list clean up there is currently no way to remove items from the search list, only choose to search or not search on them.

  • Use ipad2 to play video on Apple TV but cannot get the video to play on the iPad even though I change setting without shutting down and restarting the ipad.

I have been using my ipad2 to show video on my flatscreen using the Apple TV.  Recently I find that once I use Apple TV I cannot switch back to the ipad for viewing even if I go back to the little rectangular screen and change the checkmark to ipad.  Once this happens all my videos will only play through apple tv.   If I shut down the ipad and restart it I come up in the ipad mode and can view it on the pad.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Not really sure on this one, but one thought I have is how full is your iPad. Have you connected your iPad to iTunes recently.

  • I recorded video on a memory card.  How do I get the video to play on my iPad?

I have a trail camera with a memory card.  I record videos.  They will not play on my iPad2.  How can I get them to play?  I have the adapter that plugs into the iPad, which in turn, the memory card plugs into it.

    What format are the videos?
Pad2, the new iPad Supported Video Formats & Movie Formats
    H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Creating a video to play on an iPad

I am trying to create a slideshow video (using Adobe Lightroom 4 on Windows7) to play on an iPad.  I exported it as a .mp4 in both 720p and 1080p but iTunes won't put either on my iPad3 because it says "this video can't be played on this iPad."  What should i do?  why won't the videos play on an iPad?
LightRoom says the format should work with QuickTime

You will only encounter playback issues with non-native file container formats (MKV, AVI, MTS, WMV etc.) played from third-party players. MOV / M4V / MP4 files, assuming they have proper H.264 AVC (or ASP) content, will play back just fine, even at extreme bitrates.
For example, the standardized 40 Mbps (!!!) test video stream at http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/h264_1080p_hp_4.1_40mbps_birds.mkv plays just fine with the original (24 fps) framerate on ALL A4- and A5-based iOS devices after remuxing it to a MP4 container. For that matter, even the old iPhone 3GS plays it back at a tolerable speed.
That is, all you need to do is sticking with H.264 and MOV / M4V / MP4 containers - that is, avoiding non-native containers and/or stream formats. Then, you surely won't ever encounter framerate issues, not even with 1080p content playing back on A4-based models like the iPad 1 / iPhone 4 / iPod touch 4. (Of course, you need a third-party app to sync these 1080p files to as iTunes, however much the device would easily be able to play back the files, refuses to sync them. As was also the case with the iPad 2 before the iOS5 times, BTW.)

  • How can I get Firefox to show videos when I visit websites that have videos? None of the videos play or is visible, even though I can hear the audio. However, I don't have that problem when I use Internet Explorer.

I'm using a PC with Windows 7 OS.

    Hi Marcos140,
I would like to help, but is very hard to diagnose with so little information...
Do you know why you needed the bridge in the first place?
Is your laptop connecting via wireless or a wired connection?
    Please try this:
    #Click start
    #Type cmd
    # Push Enter
    #A black box will open
    # type in "ipconfig /all"
    # Screenshot the output
    # type "ping google.com"
    # Screenshot
If you can post the output of those commands it will help.
    Thanks,
    Curtis

  • Since ios5 I have videos that won't play.

When I try to play them I get a dialog that says "Cannot Open" with an OK button. They played fine on ios4 and they currently play in iTunes and through Windows Media player. Any idea what the problem might be? These videos are in mp4 format and I don't believe they are DRM files.

Your iPod may have other update problems.
Do the updates on the iTunes library on the computer.   Update all software.

  • Ipod playing songs that have video

Hi i just purchased jack johnson's album a weekend at the greek..........for some reason because of my computer literacy i cant place just the songs on my ipod nano.......if anyone can help me with this that would be awesome.....thanks

    Hi Chris,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
So you bought an album. Is it a CD or did you buy it from the iTunes Music Store?
If it's a CD you need to load it in to iTunes first before you can sync it to your nano.
If you bought it from iTMS then it's already in iTunes?
If you can fill in your profile to list your operating system as well it will help us give you better advice.
Post back and we'll take it from there.
