Websphere and weblogic version

hi everybody,
Can anyone please say me the free version of websphere and weblogic that supports the
oracle waveset/sunIDM8.1version.
Please anyone help me out from this issue.
Thanks,
Tarun.

From: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19225-01/820-5592/820-5592.pdf
Here are the supported application servers that can be used with Sun IDM 8.1 (see below).
Of course, instead of Sun IDM 8.1 you should utilize Oracle Waveset 8.1.1 and then apply the latest patch, which is 8.1.1.8. This is the latest possible version and contains all possible fixes and enhancements.
Note: If you run the latest patch version of Sun IDM 8.1 (8.1.0.15) it also supports (from the 8.1.0.15 Rel Notes):
IBM WebSphere 7.x application server can now be used with Identity
Manager. (ID-13555125) 8.1.0.15
If you have any additional questions please let me know.
==========
Application Servers
The application server you use with Identity Manager must be Servlet 2.2-compliant and
installed with the included Java platform (unless noted as follows). Identity Manager requires
Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 5 or 6 on the following application servers, if the application
server supports these versions.

Apache Tomcat 5.5.x, 6.0.x

BEA WebLogic Server 9.1, 9.2, 10

IBM WebSphere 6.1

JBoss Application Server 4.2

Oracle® Application Server Enterprise Edition 10g Release 3 (10.1.3)

Oracle Application Server Standard Edition 10g Release 3 (10.1.3)

Sun Java
TM
System Application Server 9.1 (GlassFish
TM
v2 UR1, v2 UR2, v2.1 32-bit and
64-bit)

Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1, 8.2, 9.0

Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1, 8.2

Sun Java System Application Server Standard Edition 8.2
Note–

If your current application server does not support JDK 5, please check with your vendor to
examine the implications of upgrading to one that does before installing Identity Manager.

Identity Manager requires a JDK that correctly handles the 2007 adjustments to U.S.
Daylight Savings Time (DST). You must install any relevant DST patches for the JDK
version you are using. For Sun JDK 5, Update 15 contains the necessary DST fixes. All
versions of Sun JDK 6 contain the necessary DST fixes.

You can run Identity Manager on BEA WebLogic application servers with all
WebLogic-supported 5 JDKs.

websphere and weblogic are j2ee container implementations by IBM and BEA respectively. They are ment to host j2ee application complient to the j2ee spec. You can develop any kind of applications on these servers as long as they comply to j2ee spec. Both these servers provide various extensions to j2ee such as tools and APIs to make development for these server easier.

  • JDeveloper Version and Weblogic Version

    Hi,
I am working on ADF project which is being developed on jDeveloper 11.1.1.3 and hosted on weblogic server 10.3.3. Can 11.1.1.3 application be hosted directly on latest weblogic server(10.3.5 and 11.1.2) ? Do i need to do any migrations or apply any patches? If i need to migrate, will the migration be 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.4 so on or directly jump to 11.1.2 and deploy it in 10.3.5?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
i have not tried but can say that from lower to higher version there should not be any problem..

  • Install correct versions of Forms (etc), Jdeveloper and Weblogic

    Hello,
We are upgrading from forms 10g. We want to be able to upgrade to the most recent (or almost most recent) versions of Forms, but we also want Jdeveloper.
I know from experience that you need the proper version of jdeveloper to go with the proper version of Weblogic, so knowing which version of all three is necessary.
It looks like we can download newer versions of Forms, Jdeveloper and Weblogic separately, or we could install the Oracle Fusion Middleware suite 11.1.1.7.0 which contains SOA (I would love to move to that), but that contains older versions of Forms and Jdeveloper.
I have trudged through Oracle documentation and the like, but found no real satisfactory information about downloading each separately. Could anyone help me with suggestions about which versions go with which?
    Thank you,
    Stuart

As far as I know, JDeveloper is provided as a stand-alone download and has an embedded WLS used for testing. The JDeveloper installation must go into its own Middleware Home and not into, for example the one where Forms/Reports (or any other) lives.
As for deploying your completed applications, you can either do this into another WLS installation or the one used by Forms/Reports. However, creating a new WLS domain is recommended and may be required (check the product documentation or contact Support for more information).
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/index.html
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38115_01/index.htm
If you decided to go with FMw PFRD 11.1.1.x, this does include a slightly older Forms/Reports version, but has nothing to do with JDeveloper. You can still use your choice of JDev give what I said above - the JDev installation must go into its own Middleware Home (e.g. Middleware2).
There is one gotcha I can think of.... Jdeveloper can easily use Java 7. Be careful not to develop something in JDev using Java 7 then deploy it into your PFRD or F/R environment which uses Java 6 by default.

  • Which is better, websphere or weblogic?

Our company want to establish a network serving for PC ,wap ,pda and so on using j2ee.but I dont know which is better Between Websphere application server and Weblogic.
Who can tell me in detail?

    Something to start with:
    WebSphere
    1. WebSphere covers more platforms.
    2. WebSphere has a better supportline (IBM know this stuff)
    3. Having DB2 as a database, you might want to use WebSphere, since it has a lots of advantages of using both the database and AppServer from the same Vendor.
    WebLogic:
    1. WebLogic is a more possisioned appserver
    2. I 'believe' weblogic is more up to date with java versions and technologies

  • BPM standalone and J2EE versions

What is the diffrence between BPM standalone and J2EE versions
    and
What are the advantages of Using J2EE Version over standlone?
In configuration document it is mentioned that we need to deploy wlj2eedeployer.ear on weblogic server.
    Why this deployment?
    Thanks

Depending on your needs, the Engine can be deployed using two different implementation styles.
    Standalone Oracle BPM Enterprise Engine
Oracle BPM can be deployed in a standalone environment running on a JVM. This is the original version of the Engine and has been around for 10 years.
The benefits of deploying processes to Enterprise Standalone are:
<li> It does not require an application server J2EE container to run. This means a lower cost of entry if you do not already own WebLogic or WebSphere J2EE application servers.
<li> It is simple to install and administer.
Enterprise Standalone uses a simple active/standby failover mechanism. When the active engine starts, it immediately registers in the Oracle BPM Directory that it is the primary engine. When the standby engine starts on another machine, it sees that another engine has already registered as the active server in the Oracle BPM Directory. Since the active engine is already up, the standby knows that it needs to ping the primary engine periodically to ensure it is still up. If the standby engine fails to get a response from the active engine, the standby notifies the Directory that it is now the active engine. When what was previously the active primary engine restarts, it notifies the Directory that it has restarted, sees that another server is now the primary and then starts as the secondary.
J2EE Application Server Oracle BPM Enterprise Engine
Oracle BPM Enterprise engines can also run on a J2EE application server within WebLogic and WebSphere containers.
Oracle BPM Engines running on a J2EE Application Server support active clustering. This means that as loads increase over time, new nodes can be added making the environment more scalable over time.
With the J2EE Application Server environment automatic failover is automatically provided across nodes.
Finally, in answer to your last question - the deployed wlj2eedeployer.ear is useful because this lets you stop and start the Engine and deploy projects from the simple (ok - somewhat simple) Oracle BPM Process Administrator tool.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

              Hi,
We use WebLogic 7.0 and MQSeries running on separate servers. I created the .bindings
file with the JMSAdmin tool and create a jndi dir to store the file in the WebLogic
domain. I also configured the classpath in the startup script for Weblogic.
To get the MDB's to work, you define the path of the .binding file in the weblogic.xml
file. See below classpath and xml. I never tried to look at the file through
the jndi tree. I did not implement code to do this such as the startup class.
It hasn't been necessary, everything works great. I'm still looking into using
the ETC....IBM says your can't but this thread says you can. Hope this helps.

  • Using Websphere MQ & Weblogic 7.0 MDBs....

We would like to keep Websphere MQ and Weblogic on separate machines and still
take advantage of XA. My understanding (from reading the BEA Whitepaper on configuring
foreign JMS Providers) is that it is not possible to configure the Weblogic MDBs
in 'Container Managed Transaction Mode', because of the limitations of MQSeries
(until version 5.2) supporting XA only in bindings mode, which means that the
QM Manager where the MDBs connect to have to be on the same machine.
It looks like Websphere MQ 5.3 CSD03 does not have this limitation, i.e. it provides
an 'Extended Transactional Client' that eliminates the need for the Queue Manager
to be on the same machine as WLS. I am struggling to configure the setup, because
there is not much information available and the only manual I got from IBM talks
only about configure their own AppServer, Websphere.
Does anyone have experience with configuring MDBs getting messages from a MQ Queue
Manager on a different machine as a Container Managed Transaction? If so, any
              pointers would help.

  • Migrating from OIM on WebSphere to WebLogic

Can anyone provide any insight on the possibility of migrating OIM from WebSphere to WebLogic. Are there differences in the database that would make this a difficult task?
The "Upgrading to 11gR1" does not list this as a possible path.

In this section of the documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/upgrade.1111/e10129/upgrade_oim.htm#CACFJBJE it has listed WebSphere on the left for 9.x version, and WebLogic on the right for 11g. And since 9.x and 11g use different tables specific to the application server, the migration of data from 9.x should not matter for those. The 11g will use it's own tables specific to the app server and migrate just the required OIM data that isn't specific to the previous app server. That is why you must complete all tasks in the queues prior to migration.

  • Deployment changes from websphere to weblogic

    Hi gurus,
I am trying to deploy a sample application written for websphere V5.1 to weblogic8.1, what are the changes i need to do to the code and as well deployment descriptors.
I have lot of CMPs and a common ejb-jar.xml, ibm-ejb-jar-bnd.xmi and ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi. How can i convert these into weblogic's ejb-jar.xml ( i guess it is same for both), weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
And for session beans and jsps what are the changes i need to focus...and any at code level also ?
It is highly appreciated if anyone could show some light on this...thanks in advance.
    cheers,

    hiya,
thanks for the reply, i figured that "ibm-ejb-jar-bnd.xmi" is used for JNDI binding just like "weblogic-ejb-jar.xml" does, where as what is this xmi will do "ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi". Yes, am really glad am not using EJB1.1 spec of old websphere. What paremeters from the Webshpere's CMP i can provide in weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml.

  • Visualage and weblogic !!!

    Hi ,
I was wondering if there is someone who has used these two products
    namely Visualage and Weblogic together.
    Regards
    Suchak Jani

We integrate with the Professional version of VAge which doesn't support JSPs.
Their Enterprise version does, but is tightly coupled to WebSphere and an
earlier release of the JSP spec.
You can do debugging of JSPs in VAge but you'll need to convert them to java
servlets first (use weblogic.jspc, see the JSP documentation.

We're getting ready to beta the VAge 3.02 Integration Kit for WebLogic5.1.0.
The beta should be available around the middle of the month. Check out
weblogic.beta.tools.visualage for a notice of the release.

  • Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3

    Hello,
I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.
Please guide me to resolve the problem.

This error is resolved after following the logs in C:\ATG\ATG10.1.1\CIM\log\cim.log. The root cause is I used http as protocol instead of t3 while specifying weblogic admin url.

  • Transaction and Weblogic MDB

    Hi,
I am using Coherence as a cache for my weblogic application. I use a Message Driven Bean that receive a message, write something in Coherence and then write an other message in a result queue.
I want all this operations to be fully transactional. To do this I try to use the Coherence Container Integration with JCA (see http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH33UG/Transactions%2C+Locks+and+Concurrency).
My first problem here is to install the rar file in weblogic. I try in weblogic version 10 and 8.1 (my coherence version is 3.2) and I got the following errors :
    in version 8.1

    Thanks,
    Luc

    Hi William,
Are you sure this is correct? During the prepare phase I would have expected the
changes to have been made persistent (durable within the grid) but not immediately
visible on at least another node within the cluster assuming Coherence is using the
grid itself as a transaction log service. What I wrote is how the TransactionMap API documentation describes it.
I believe, the idea behind it is that the commit phase writes data to the underlying cache with putAll and removeAll operations which are supposed to be fail-safe and are not waiting for any other threads if the client owns the locks for the entries, even in case of cluster node failures.
With the transaction consistency and isolation verified in prepare() and all relevant locks owned, there is no transactional reason why the commit could fail. The only possible causes of failure are disastrous conditions or errors in write-through cache store operations preventing success of the putAll/remove operations (or coding errors in serialization/deserialization/indexed-methods).
If not then how would Coherence ensure the commit would be successfully executed
after a voting to commit during the prepare phase even in the event of a failure
occurring before commit. The TransactionMap 2PC is not supposed to be interleaved with other 2PC operations. It is supposed to work only above the Coherence caches (actually you can add one 1PC operation between the TransactionMap prepare()-s and TransactionMap commit()-s, if you implement CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection manually).
Full XA is not supported over the caches by Coherence.
The XA-related stuff I mentioned is when you use the Coherence CacheAdapter to enlist Coherence caches under a JTA transaction. However in this case the caches together act as a 1PC resource (JCA LocalTransaction mode) from the JTA TransactionManager-s point of view and you do not see anything from it being internally 2PC.
In this case, the JTA transaction 2PC operation proceeds as follows:
    1. All real XA resources enlisted to the JTA transaction are prepared. After this point all JDBC changes over an XA-driver JDBC connection are flushed to the database, so all locks to be acquired are acquired.
    2. If all were prepared successfully, then the transactional caches enlisted under the JCA Adapter are committed together with code equivalent to CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection(). The transactional caches are practically TransactionMap-s wrapped in two or three layer of wrapper objects.
    3. If the CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection() succeeded, then all the XA resources enlisted to the JTA transaction are committed. All JDBC locks are released only at this point.
Why I mentioned XA and locks and TRANSACTION_EXTERNAL in this thread at all is that if you modified equivalent entries in Coherence to what you modified in XA JDBC, then you don't in fact need to lock those entries in Coherence, because equivalent locks with a broader lifetime are existing in the database. TRANSACTION_EXTERNAL allows you to do just that.
Hope this clears this up, but feel free to ask if it does not.
    Best regards,
    Robert

    The test is easer.
I make a new Empty Project like J2EE13. After create a new JSP (Web tier -> JSP).
I chose j2ee version 1.3. So I put some jsp code inside, like
    <body>
    <%
    out.write("Teste J2EE 1.3");
    %></body>
After I create a new Deployment Profiles WAR File.
Make a build, a .war file and .ear and everythink worked.
So I make a J2EE Deplyment Descriptor Wizard with version 1.3
    And make rebuil project.
JDev don't finish the rebuild. The thread dump with CRTL+BREAK :
Full thread dump Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_05-b03 mixed mode):
