1) Can we open 3.x webtemplate in 7.0 version after migration?
2) Which things are added newly for web templated in 7.0 version ?

You can open N number of times after migration from 3.x to 7.0......You can migrate N number of times also...Because copy of Template created...Old one still exists....

Is your EP version 6.0 , then you can create iview for your webtemplate ..and then publish the same.

Issue with the ROLES in Precalculation of WebTemplate in Reporting Agent.

HI BWers,
I am having trouble in understanding the functionality of ROLES and USERS in the Reporting Agent.
My goal is to pre-calculate WebTemplate,so the users can get the data results based on their ROLES.
-> When I select ROLES under Authorizations in Reporting Agent; my understanding was it will just pre-calculate the WebTemplate based on Roles. But, when I look at the job details its doing for the Users. I opted for ROLES because I have 10-Roles and 100-Users, so the job runs for only Roles.
-> I don't want to select the Users, as it will take longer time and uses lot of system resources.
Can I just run for ROLES, for that under Authorizations in Reporting Agent do I need to select Precalculate User-Specifically and Select ROLES or just selecting ROLES will do. I tried both, just selecting ROLES is not working and selecting Precalculate User-Specifically & ROLES is not yielding the required results.
Could you please throw some light on it, I am on BW 3.5 & SP15.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
If you choose the Precalculate by User option, all the data and HTML pages for the Reporting Agent setting are precalculated for each of the selected users in a single job. This applies in both the cases: Roles or users. When you specify a role after selecting the option 'Precalculate by User', the precalculation will be done for all the users assigned to that role and not the role.
Roles/Users is just 2 different ways of giving the user restriction. If you specify the roles, the system will precalculate for all the users assigned to the role. If you have few users for whom you want the precalculation to be done, then you can specify the user IDs. If you have many users assigned to a particular role for whom you want the precalculation to be done, then you can specify the role.

BW 3.5 Webtemplates with BI 7.0 Query, Results are showing as Junk Page

Hi All,
I have created a BI 7.0 Queries with, RKF, CKF and Charactesttics. And i have created a BW 3.5 Webtemplates and added that BI 7.0 Query as data provider for the Table and Chart in the webtemplates. When i execute the webtemplates in the browser i am getting the result properly, But when i excute the Webtemplate in browser Next time it is providing me the Page with Junk characters. I am not getting any proper results after the execution of first time, once the webtemplets is created.
Can any one face this issue? if So can you please help me to resolve this issue?.

Thanks, After i have changed the Charset to "utf-8", and now I am gettinng the result properly. But is there any permenanat fix available now to fix this issue?. Also is this issue is happing only when viewing the reault in IE? or this issue will occur during the precalculation of the webtemplates also?

1. How to precalculate the BI 7.0 Webtemplates.
2. Is the precalculation can be done in RSPRECADMIN and through Reporting agent for BI 7.0 Webtemplates?
3. What are all the seeting needs to be done for the Precalculation of 3.5 Webtemplates while the Precalculation done through Reporting agent ?

Bi 7.0: Integration of javascript in Webtemplate

Hello,
are there any documentations, howto's or examples how I can use simple javascript in the Webtemplate implemented with WAD? Important is that I am working with Bi 7.0
For example:
How can I access to the value of a variable in the variablesreen and display it in the template?
I know that there are two ways to use javascript: 1. using the Script Web Item or 2. using an external javascript file. But I could not manage it to display the value of the variable in the Template by a javascript function.
Can you give me an example?

Webtemplate Navigation box question

Dear Experts,
I have a navigation block and a table on a webtemplate (BW 3.1). The navigation block contains characteristic values which are filtered by variables set on the variable selection screen. When the webtemplate is running at the first time the Navigation block does not show any filter value. Later when I use filtering in the navigation box or on the table the navigation box show the filter values.
How can I set the Navigation block to show filter values at the first time?

Edit your variables and there you have a check box 'Can be changed in query navigation'. Just check it and this will solve your problem.

I'm junior consultant sap BI ; I want to do a webtemplate in BI 7.0, but the firm doesn't have SAP Portal.
I want to know if I can create my web template in BI 7.0, without using a portal? If I can do it, please tell me how!

you will have to use WAD3.5 for that - you cannot use WAD 7.0 without having a JAVA Stack or the necessary JAVA Components installed in your app server.
Then the question would be :
Even if you do manage to create a WAD7.0 template without a JAVA Stack - you cannot run the same since it required portal...???

ABAP program to update webtemplate variables - RSRPARAMETRIZA-CONTENT

Looks like webtemplates variants are saved in database table RSRVARIANT under table-field RSRPARAMETRIZA-CONTENT (xml field with selection values).

Using a Link in a Webtemplate to navigate in the portal

Hi BI/Portal experts!
We are using a federated portal environment. in our consumer portal we have implemented a reporting system with an overview page and some detail pages. each page contains iviews with webtemplates from our consumer portal.
In the overview page we have a iview with an web template wich holds some key figures and a link. Our aim is to use that link to get to the details page (which is somewhere else in the navigation). We tried to use the "NavigationTarget"-technique but the result was that the detail page was opend in the iview window instead of the full explorer window.
Is there any possibility to have a link within a webtemplate that affect the whole portal and not only the iview of the template?
I hope i could make myself clear.

You need to load detailed page in same window after clicking a link in overview page?
How you implemented overview page, is it a template or seperate html page?
If it is a template then you can open detailed template in the same window from a link in overview page. For this you have to set open template in same window parameters in your link.

Variable not working in Webtemplate

we've defined a variable for our webtemplate but it's not working. It works fine until the variable screen, but the variable isn't populated there. It would be great if somebody would have an idea what's wrong:

Broadcaster Settings in BW7.0 WebTemplates

Hello experts,
my customer uses an individual copy of the standard program RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER for mass publishing of web reports within Information Broadcasting. This individual copy manipulates the entries in the table RSRD_SETT_NODE_A ; variable values in the settings (written in RSRD_SETT_NODE_A) are replaced by entries coming from a control table (containing user names and their indiviual variable values).
For WebTemplates created with BW7.0 (Nw2004s) the format of the variable string in table RSRD_SETT_NODE_A has changed. Where a variable string in BW 3.5 followed the format &<variable_name1>&<variable_name2>&<..>&<variable_value1>&<..> the variable definition in BW7.0 Web Templates is implemented as a XML string.
Now in case of my customer's application it is not that easy to replace the variable values in the XML coding.
Does anybody use the RSRD_SETT_NODE_A in a similar way as my customer and has found a solution for BW7.0-WebTemplates ?

Hello Peter,
thank you for your advise. You cannot know that, but in our case one user can have more than one assignment of variable values (e.g. more than one cost center), so it is not possible to derive ONE variable value from a user name. Unfortunately this does not solve my problem.

PS: are you sure that I would be able to derive my variable values from the sy-uname. I would expect this to be the user who executes the job (Broadcast administration background user).

Image disappears before loading the webtemplate.

I made a BSP application with following code. I am using this BSP to display the webreports(Webtemplates(WAD)). And calling this BSP from the exteranl sytem using the URL "http://<bwsys>:8080/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<BSPapp>/default.htm" and here send the webtemplate as the parameter.
The problem is "loading.gif" is visible for seconds and disappearing much before the webtemplate result display. I should show the "loading.gif", just before the output.
Could you please check the below code, suggest me what i have to do for my requirement.

Note: when you construct the url for webtemplate use what the use of '|' instead of '&' and the same is converted to '&' in loading.htm and also the 'http://' is only added in loading.htm.

How to Configure a WebTemplate based on Teamsite to "enable Treeview"

we use WebTemplates that derive from the Teamsite SiteDefinition. In my newly created Webs I want
the Quicklaunch set to false
Treeview set to true
Is there anyway where I can configure this for the Webtemplate? I know how to perform this in a Feature, but I would prefer to do this via configuration.

Hi Sven,
The configuration of Quicklaunch and Treeview is in the Elements.xml file. You can set QiuckLaunchEnabled to false and TreeViewEnabled to true.
