WebUtil and Forms 11g
Is WebUtil certified with Forms 11g?
Thanks

Thanks, where have you seen this certification information as I have been unable to find it? We are using WebUtil with Forms 9.0.4, are are contemplating migrating Forms directly to 11g.

Hi ,
We are in a middel of a project to upgrade our Forms6i client-server to Forms11g (web).
The Forms 11g application is up and running .
In the database level (oracle 10gr2) our end users connecting to the database as an external user , e.g: OPS$XXXXXX
The problem is that application is starting as the owner of the schema (say SCOTT for example) and not as OPS$ as it used to be in forms6i.
Having so cause as several problems :
1) All the users in v$session are getting SCOTT priviliges and not OPS$ , which mean that i cant identified which user is executiong a form or report
2) Since the DBUSER is SCOTT and not OPS$ , means that the stored procedure in the DB are NOT running under the right user.
Please advice how to solve this issue.
ThanksHello Carig,
Its seems to be that i wasnt clear enough .
In forms 11g , there is a file named : formsweb.cfg
At this file i have the following entry :
[devdb]
userid=xxx/yyy@devdb
envFile=devdb.env
While devdb is the database name , xxx is the name of the schema owner , and yyy is the password of that user.
All my end users do NOT own any database objects at all.
All they have is a priviges that the owner of the schema (xxx) assigned to them.
For example they have assigned insert and select on table A at schema XXX
Problems:
1) Since all my end users are externaly users (e.g OPS$ABCD....) , they cant connect to the forms11g application as external users.
What should i do in order to allow them to connect to the forms application.
2) If i will follow your first option , then user A for exmaple will became to be XXX , and have all its privileges - and its somthing that i dont what.
Please advise how i can solve this problem . -
Any sessions that cover Forms 11g at Openworld?
Found this one:

How Oracle ADF Faces Can Use Oracle Forms as UI Components
Wilfred
I hope there are more..
P-Another thing to look for at OpenWorld would be sessions on the 11g Application Server since Forms is so closely tied to the Application server now.
I haven't looked since I'm not going this year. -
Hi,
I'm currently converting a forms 6.0 application to forms 10g. My application has the file upload and download functionality. I researched the webutil 9i beta version, but my infrastructure team would not allow this to be installed in the 10g app server production environment because it's not supported.
I looked into the OC4J fileupload and filedownload javabean that comes with the oracle 10g iDS installation. Is webutil built on these javabeans?
What are other alternatives I could use that I don't know about? Please help.
Last question, when will webutil released to production? I desparately need this utility since I don't know too much about JavaBean coding and tie to forms.
Thanks,
JenniferHi,
the problem is that Forms Developer tries to acces steh bean, which requires ojsputil.jar to be set in the Forms90_Builder_Classpath. However, even then it wont work because the oracle.jsp.webutil.fileaccess class doesn't implement the IView interface or extends teh VBean class. You could use it with the FBean package which works with Beans that don't implement the Forms interfaces. However, the oracle.jsp.webutil.fileaccess class seems to be a JSP class which doesn't work at all in Forms.
The best way to approach bean development for Forms is to read this whitepaper
http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/forms_in_java_world.pdf
and then install the Forms 10g demos and look at the source code. We do our best to comment the demo source so that you know what the code does.

HI Gentlemen,
I have downloaded and installed WebUtil exactly as stated in the PDF document, with the Additional Installation Steps, too.
However, when I start a very simple form which only has a non-DB block with a text item and a button, I always get the following:
WUC-015: Your Form must contain the following Bean for this function to be available:
oracle.forms.webutil.browser.BrowserFunctions
Help states that dragging the record group into the form would be beneficial. Sorry, it is not. The error persists.
Could anyone of you help me?
Thanks, regards from
Miklos HERBOLYHI Grant,
Thank you for your reply. I consulted the FAQ and came to the following:
1. CLASSPATH etc. is OK
2. The object group has been dragged onto the form
3. WEBUTIL_HIDDEN_WINDOW is present, but it does not contain any beans. How do beans get into a window? This may be a mistake and is obscure to me
4. Attaching the library and OLB subclassing have been performed in the proper order. However, if I call show_webutil_information(false) in a PRE-FORM trigger, and the OLB is SUBCLASSED, it still does display that information window. When I COPY the OLB, as done in the Webutil demo, it's OK.
And webutil_separatewindow.seticon(...) keeps failing with WUC-015.
Where am I wrong?
Thank you in advance, kind regards from

Pop-up windows with webutil and Forms
Hello,
We are using webutil for file transfer : webutil_file.xxx
But with oracle forms, it call a black windows to execute the command.
How to hide this windows? The pop-up is for a look up table. So for example they can
choose from a drop menu and if your choice is not there then they
can select add to look up and a pop-up open and allows then to
add/edit or delete fields in the look up table. I want to have the
pop-up window adjust dynamically to the size of the look-up
list....make sense?
You can check it out here.

Can i start oracle forms and reports 11g services in linux with opmnctl ?
Hi:
I am so confused with weblogic and forms 11g that i don't know nothing at all looll :)
Someone told me that to start oracle forms i need to this
[oracle@biz ~]$./startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS
This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...
Today at oracle support they told me that i still can start forms with OPMN using opmnctl as we use to do in 10g... Is this possible? Does anyone here have a startup script for forms and reports 11g under linux? How do you guys start forms and reports?

RicardoHi Ricardo,
Someone told me that to start oracle forms i need to this
[oracle@biz ~]$./startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS
This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...After starting WLS_FORMS, you can very well send it to background.
Press Ctrl+Z and then type bg it will move it to background

with just opmnctl we cant run Forms I believe, we need to have WLS_FORMS also running ..
Forms requires ohs or wc to be up and running along with WLS_FORMS , thats is what is my understanding .. -

Forms and reports 11g
Any helpIt is very important to make clear which direction you are going. If you are not able to copy from Forms and paste to an external application, this could be any one or more of the following:
1. There is a problem with the JRE. Consider uninstalling ALL currentlly installed JREs and install the latest supported version 1.6.0_33
2. There may have been an issue with the Forms version you are using. Be sure you are using 11.1.1.6 or 11.1.2.0. If not, install the latest patch.
3. The JRE was unable to properly identify or store the digitial signature in the Forms jar file or one which you included (custom code). If you are using any customer jar files, ensure that they have been properly signed. Also be sure that JRE cache is being stored on the local client machine and not a remote location as this is not supported. If you have not altered the default, the cache is stored in the user's home directory under Application Data (AppData for Win7)
4. Could be a mouse driver issue. Go to the mouse vendor's web site and get the latest driver for that mouse. Do not use the MS drivers.
Example:
C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
So, recommendations:
1. Uninstall all JRE versions currently installed. Install 1.6.0_33
2. Ensure that you are using 11.1.1.6 or 11.1.2.0
3. Clear the JRE cache. To do this close ALL open browsers and open the Java Control Panel. Look on the General tab for Temporary Internet Files > Settings > Delete Files > Ok
4. Install the latest mouse driver.
5. Retest

I followed the steps layed out for configuring webutil in the users guide, I suspect the problem is related to signing the jacob.jar file.
I signed jacob.jar using $ORACLE_HOME/forms/webutil/sign_webutil.bat, I made sure ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin was in PATH.
I received these warning/errors at this point
Generating a self signing certificate for key=webutil2...

There were warnings or errors while generating a self signing certificate. Please review them.

I am running forms 10.1.2. How do I resolve this problem.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Jim
.Well, I think the problem is a permission issue or there is a problem finding the correct files. Let me explain:
1. The first error is expected. Read it carefully and consider what you did to this point.
Generating a self signing certificate for key=webutil2...
keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Key pair not generated, alias <webutil2> already exists
This is expected because the alias was already created when signing frmwebutil.jar. Since the alias only needs to be created one time, this is expected and can be ignored.
2. The second error is your real issue:
jarsigner: attempt to rename d:\oracle\Product\dev10gR2suite\forms\java\jacob.jar to d:\oracle\Product\dev10gR2suite\forms\java\jacob.jar.orig failed
My suggestion:
1. Delete all jacob files including any which may have been renamed.
2. Re-download the correct Jacob version as noted in the WebUtil and Forms documentation. Do NOT attempt to use a newer version as it will cause a failure.
3. Copy the jacob.jar file in the same directory which contains the cortousy signing script (batch) Oracle provides.
4. Ensure that you have (Windows) Administrative permissions on the machine.
5. Open a DOS shell and change directories (cd) to the directory which contains the signer script.
6. Set the PATH to include the JDK\bin. For example:
SET PATH=d:\oracle\Product\dev10gR2suite\jdk\bin;%PATH%
7. Execute the jarsigner script.
sign_webutil jacob.jar
As already mentioned you can ignore messages which suggest that the alias already exists. However, pay attention to any others.
8. Assuming it works correctly, copy jacob.jar to ..\forms\java
9. Clear the JAR cache from whichever JRE (Jinitiator) you are using.
10. Retest -
Forms 6i to Forms 11g - Migration path
Have a customer who is currently using forms 6i and DB 9.X and is willing to migrate to Forms 11g and DB12g.
Questions
a) Does anyone know the migration path that should be used?
b) As far as my understanding it should do both upgrades (forms and DB) at the same time as forms 6i is not certified with DB 12g and Forms 11g is not certified with DB 9.X right?
c) Any project to use as reference?
d) Any re-usable?
Regards,
MarianoIs this an EBS installation? If yes, please note that Developer 11g is not certified with R12 and you will need to use 10g instead.

Tutorials for forms 11g?
hi folks,
this might have been answered in the past (i can't find the posting) but are there any public tutorials for forms 11g? e.g. developing a forms application to perform CRUD on a DB via the various methods.
also where will be the best place to look for enablement and forms 11g presentations? i've been looking at the materials on the OTN website and they're all at least a year to two years old!
thanks in advance.
cappa.Kind of - I just realized there's another OTN page for Forms 11g which I didn't find initially.
I was looking for hands-on tutorials/labs to explore forms further.
Thanks! -

1. The JRE crashed after startup. Many times, but not always, if such a crash occurs it will leave a JRE dump file on the desktop. Its content may help to identify the cause.
2. The Forms runtime crashed at startup. Many times, but not always, a Forms dump file will be created on the server. Its content may help to identify the cause.
3. The Forms runtime was unable to start at all. This can occur on unix systems when/if there is a resource or permissions issue. One of the more common causes is if the file descriptor (nofiles) value is set too low.
4. The applet is actually running, but has attempted to display a dialog box and is awaiting your acknowledgement, but the box was wrongfully sent to the background behind the browser. A similar issue was reported in one of the JRE 1.6.0_xx series, however I don't recall which one. Uninstall your current version and install the latest which is 1.6.0_27
There are other possibilities, but these are most common.
I would recommend the following:
1. Uninstall any JRE older than 1.6.0_27. Reboot. Install 1.6.0_27
2. Set networkRetries=5 in formsweb.cfg
3. Set FORMS_TIMEOUT to 15 (default). Setting to a high value as you have is not recommended and is rarely necessary.
4. Verify that the test form works. For example:
http://machine:port/forms/frmservlet?form=test
5. It appears that you are trying to use WU_TEST_106.fmx. Instead, download an updated version of this file (the name has also changed)
http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/196249.zip
6. Ensure that you have compiled webutil.pll into .plx. Do not use an old version of this file. The installation will include one. If not, check for it in an installation that also includes the Builders. -
Oracle forms 11g , mailmerge errors WUO-712 and WUO-707

I migrated oracle forms 10g application to Oracle forms 11g.
One form uses mailmerge is failing. This options was working in previous 10g version using WinWord 2003.
Failing in current version Oracle 11g and Winword 2007
Three documents are invovled in the process
mailmerge_data.docx --- datasource document -- have address attributes
FOBSENT.docx -- template document
output.docx -- using mail merge options address are populated from mailmeger_data.docx into FOBSENT.dox and created a new output word document which we send it to customer.
------------------------------------------------------- WUO-712 and WUO-707
client_ole2.set_property(mm_obj, 'Destination', 0); -- 0 is value of constant wdSendToNewDocument
client_ole2.invoke(mm_obj, 'Execute');
Any help to resove this is apprciated.
Thanks in Advance
RaghavSorry I was away,
We migrated 10G forms to 11g also Winword 2003 to Winword 2007
It's erroring at this point
mm_obj := client_ole2.get_obj_property(template_doc, 'MailMerge');
Failing ---> client_ole2.set_property(mm_obj, 'Destination', 0); -- 0 is value of constant wdSendToNewDocument
Failing --->client_ole2.invoke(mm_obj, 'Execute');
Not able to read or open document use to work in previous version.
