Webutil for Oracle 9i ver 9.0.2

I have followed the step by step instructions for installing Webutil. It does I get no errors except when on runtime. The error is ora-06508; packages and programs are not compatible. Is there a Webutil that anyone has that can work with ver 9.0.2 or any work-around some one has?

Strictly speaking webutil was only certified with 904 and 10.1.2 although in theory it should still work..that error message usually comes from a specifc line of code - do you know what line of code? It usually relates to an attached library.

    hi,

    how should i start?
i have read the webutil mannual.it is bit tricky.
i want step by step configuration.
Any sort of help is appriciateable.
    Regards,
    abbasyazdani

    hi,
In webutil directory structure, there r four folders,
    {color:#0000ff}doc
    java
    server
    webutil{color}
    and there are three files.
    {color:#0000ff}webutil.pll,webutil.old and create_webutil_db
    {color}
In webutil mannual,it is written that we should extract this folder to forms90.
But in forms90, there are {color:#0000ff}server and java folders.
{color:#000000}should i replace forms90's sever and java folder with webutil's server and java folder?
what should i do for this ?
    regards

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

  • Configuration of Netscape Navigator for Oracle Forms on Netscape 8.12 Ver.

    Dear Forum,
I have the experience of confiugring the Internet Explorer for Oracle Forms Web-deployment. But I just want to know what are all the changes are required to configure the Netscape Navigator for Oracle Forms Web Deployment. I came to know that it needs some changes in .dlls. Please advice me any techincal refereneces in this regard.

    Aashil,
I've a similar configuration: Sun Sparc Solaris 8, Forms 6i Patch 10 and Apache server which comes with Oracle 9i server.
Forms 6i is on his own Oracle home. I have Forms Listener Servlet working.
    Take a look in ../Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.conf Make sure ApJServMount /servlets /root and ApJServMount /servlet /root
are defined. If you want I could mail you my conf-files. My email-address is [email protected]
    kind regards,

Configuration of Listener Servlet with patch 8 on Sun SPARC Solaris
I am trying to install and configure Forms6i Application Server for Sun SPARC Solaris 8 with Patch8.
I am installing application server in /home/oracle/home9iAS, and have set up the development environment in /home/oracle/forms6i.
    1) First i install Forms Server and Reports Server, for that i need to define following env variables
    $ORACLE_HOME is /home/oracle/forms6i
    $ORACLE_BASE is /home/oracle
i am defining them in .profile file in oracle account.
    2) Apply Patch 8
    3) Install Application Server with Minimal Installation
    4) Configure Forms Listener Servlet using http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/p8listenerservlet.pdf pdf file, i am following it to the letter.
When i try to access forms listener server using http://hostname:port/servlet/oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet i get an error:
    "Not Found
the requested URL /servlet/oracle.form.servlet.ListenerServlet was not found on this server."
    What can be the reason?

  • Hardening Linux for Oracle 10g

I have been working on creating a bare-bones RHEL 5 installation which will act as an Oracle 10g database server. For hardening Linux, I have restricted to a bare minimum of packages to make it more secure. This installation did not have X-Windows, Gnome/KDE and a host of other services that will not be required on Production servers. I selected only the BASE installation which was further customized to include just the following (there is scope to trim this further, so feedback is welcome):
    NetworkManager
    readahead
    smartmontools
    yum-updatesd
    irqbalance
    acpid
    crash
    cryptsetup-luks
    dos2unix
    dump
    finger
    gnugpg
    ksh
    libaio
    logwatch
    m2crypto
    man-pages
    mdadm
    nano
    numactl
    openssh-clients
    openssh-servers
    pam_ccreds
    pam_krb5
    pam_passwdqc
    sendmail
    setuptools
    stunnel
    sudo
    symlinks
    system-config-network
    tree
    unix2dos
    unzip
    vconfig
    wget
    which
    yum
    yum-rhn-plugin
    yum-security
    zip
Since I do not intend to use nfs, nis, samba – associated packages were not included. Further hardening was achieved by deleting non-required services (kudzu, avahi, gpm, atd, netfs, ip6tables).
The challenge comes when I begin setting up Oracle 10g using the oracle validated rpm method. In an attempt to resolve dependencies, YUM ends up installing 70 packages that do not apparently seem to have anything to do with an RDBMS (sound libraries, Gnome, X libraries and tools etc.). For me the libraries/binaries required for linking appear to be justified but the rest appear to be installed only for the Installer.
This package addition also ends up installing gamin which provides the gam_server which has bugs in it that lead to > 90% CPU consumption.
I further tried erasing some of the packages to see if anything broke. Till now nothing is broken and the database is running fine. Till now I have removed:
    gamin
    gamin-python
    gnome-mount
    gnome-vfs2
    libbonoboui
    libgnome
    libgnomeui
    oracle-validated
    yum-updatesd
    esound
    hicolor-icon-theme
    GConf2
    gnome-keyring
    gtk2
    libglade2
    libgnomecanvas
    libnotify
    libwnck
    notification-daemon
    audiofile
    cups-libs
    gnome-mime-data
    cairo
    pango
    My questions:
    • How have you created a production/hardened Linux based Oracle installation?
    • Can you share your experiences in hardening Linux for Oracle and deploying the Oracle 10g RDBMS without installing the scores of packages which themselves might compromise the server?
    • What exactly is the dependency for the Oracle 10g RDBMS on X11, Gnome, Gamin and graphic libraries such as Cairo and Pango (to name a few)?
    • Which Linux system services are really mandatory for Oracle?
    • Does a non-default secure installation compromise Oracle support?
The current memory footprint for this setup (without any workload) is (figures in MB):
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 1010 458 552 0 19 377
    -/+ buffers/cache: 61 949
    Swap: 2047 0 2047
…of this 290 MB belongs to Oracle ☺
I will be working with the other route – without using the oracle-validated rpm.
Please let me have your feedback.
    BR

  • Using Toad for Oracle

    Hi All,
I am using Oracle 10g ver. I am able to connect to this database server using SQLDeveloper.
    I have recently installed Toad.
I have installed Oracle Client 10.2.0 to run Toad.
And as I have read tnsnames.ora needs to be created in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
But i do not see any network/admin directory structure in the $ORACLE_HOME.
I have manually created this structure and placed tnsnames.ora here.
    The entries are as follows:
    DUMMY_LIVE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = xxxx)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = xxx)
When I run Toad, the oracle home (D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1) is shown as valid.
But when I connect to this database, the error "ORA-12154:TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified" comes up.
Can somebody please tell me where am I going wrong?
Where exactly should tnsnames.ora be placed?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sandhya

There is a list box and button on the Toad connection screen for setting the default oracle home. You must make sure that is set properly. The button next to the list box will open a little registry editor like interface to show you what homes are there and which one you have selected by default. Make sure you have chosen the correct home (the one you though it was supposed to use) - and maybe check the box back on the connection screen that say to make this the defailt for all future connections.

  • SunOneAppServ with Oracle 10g vers. 10.1.0.3.0

    Hello,
I'm using two different versions of SunOneAppServer,
Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1_02(build b19-p08) and
Sun Java System Application Server 7 2004Q2UR2.
These two instances of Application Servers work over two different databases, Oracle 8 and Oracle 10g vers. 10.1.0.3.0.
When working with Oracle 10 I get locks over some records during transactions and that transactions don't run correctly so the records remain locked and all following transactions go on waiting indefinitely or until I kill the session using toad.
Looking at the query locking the record it seems to me it's a query done by the application server.
Using the same software and making the same operation over the database with Oracle 8 this doesn't happen.
Does anyone has the same problem or knows how to solve it?
A collegue of mines told me that these versions of application servers doesn't support Oracle 10g. Is it true?

Both versions of the appserver below will work with Oracle 10g.
There is not enough details as to asist with your problem, but it could well be a change in semantics for locking in 10g that is causing your issue

  • Help on Oracle 11gR2 (ver 11.2) installation requirement

    Dear Experts,
I need help from you on Oracle DB11gR2 (ver 11.2) server installation in windows 7 32-bit architecture.
I have downloaded Oracle 11gR2 DB (32-bit) from edelivery.oracle.com site.
When the installtion is done i am getting below error, can any one please help me what are the memeory (RAM) and stored (HDD space) require to installed oracle 11g DB server
Error: System Physical memory not suffiicient
I have 2 GB RAM 500 HDD with windows 32-bit OS installed.
Note: i have increase 3 time of My RAM size memory at system virtual memory, if any body have installtion steps or screen shot document
    Waiting for valiable help
    Regards,
    phanikanth

The minimum requirements are in the installation guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24186/reqs.htm#CHDGJEJE
You need at least 1GB RAM for the database server, is it possible the OS and/or other applications already occupy more than 1GB, so you don't have enough memory for Oracle?

  • VSS Agent for Oracle 10g ?

    Hi there,
    I have SAP NW2004s, Windows 2003 server 64bit, Oracle 10g
4 partition with 1 hdd, C for OS, D for SAP application E for system and oracle logs+archived, F for only database files
We are trying to get backup in extrinal HDD 3TB HDD... through Symantic exec backup utility ver. 12
C and D drivers are backup fine, but sometime when server very busy and symantic start full backup for E and D drive database shutdown... sap instance is fine, but only DB instance is stoped
We are not using Symantec Agent software, is there any other software can help for that for-exmaple VSS for oracle 10g... if yes, where may i get this software any link?
Why we are not using BR tools:
1 - as i maintion before when I select "E" drive which is all logs files located symantec stoped db instance
2 - in case if i am taking backup from brtools full backup online + archived so its only take database backup + archived, not all others structure in case hard-drive failer, and data restore from symantec so its will be ok with C drive and D drive, but its nohting resotre for E and D
when I try to restore from oracle brtools to restore its getting an error for missing structure in E
so thats why I am looking only one solution either perfect symantec with online backup
    please give me some advised
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please use the standard & reliable Backup/Restore methods for any DB, to avoid more headache while Backup/Restore Operations.
Please refer [this thread|Re: Need some advise]. it will attend your most of questions. Some other alternatives (without using Backup agent) are mentioned there.
If you use Backup Agent to perform any DB backup, then It will be reliable method to perform Backup/Restore operations of DB.
With BR*tools u can also perform Non-Database Backup. Please refer [this link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW04/helpdata/en/0c/cd271365debc42bef96ac7fd907787/frameset.htm] and other relative links.
If you have configured the Backup Exec utility with Oracle agent on the DB server, then you can perform Online Backup by deselecting "Perform the backup offline" option withing that Oracle Backup Job properties.

  • Certification for Oracle AS10g OCA-OCP

    To all,
Right now I am looking at review materials for taking up the exam for OCA, but I think the topics covered were for the older version of Oracle AS10g(9.0.4).
I noticed that there is a lot of difference, directory structure and log files between ver 9.0.4. and the latest version that OracleAS has. (i.e. OracleAS 10.1.3.1)
So would you recommend taking the the certification for OracleAS or wait until Oracle comes up with a latest exam that applies for the latest versions?
    regards,
    Anton

    Hi Anton,
I have recently passed the OCA AS10g exam. I didn't find much difference in exam. Hope you are referring to OracleAS 10g OCA Exam Guide (by Sam Alapati).
BTW I didn't find any material for OCP AS10g, did you get something for that?
    Regards,
    Preet

  • Installing the SSIS Connectors v2.0 for Oracle by Attunity - SSIS 2012

    Hi,
on a SQL Server 2012 I'd like to add the SSIS Connectors vers. 2.0 for Oracle.
To accomplish this task I've tried this white paper:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee470675(v=sql.100).aspx
but it is referred to SQL Server 2008.
In order to execute the exact sequence of operations about Oracle components installation, can I install before the Oracle 32 bit client and then the Oracle 64 bit client?
I'd like to read the reply posted from an experienced person about the SSIS Connector installation task.
    Thanks

    Hi Pscorca,
No, the order you install the 32-bit Oracle client and the 64-bit Oracle client doesn’t matter. Assuming that you just need to run the package in 32-bit SSIS runtime mode, you even don’t need to install the 64-bit
    Oracle client.
Although the white paper is for Microsoft Connector v1.x for Oracle and SQL Server 2008 Integration Services, you can still walk through the white paper for your scenario.

  • Read only user creation for Oracle EM Console 11.1.1.5

    Dear All.
I have created Read only user for Oracle EM Console.
I have followed below link to do the same
    http://moshe-soa.blogspot.com/2011/09/blog-post.html.
I have noticed with read only user is that TEST button in EM Console is active means user with read only user can create a trans, in Prod scenario it is a risk.
Raised a CR with Oracle and found that it is a bug
Bug 14082464 - CANNOT DISABLE TEST/TEST WEB SERVICE BUTTON IN SOA EM COSOLE is there in Metalink.
So my question is there any way by which i can disable the TEST button in EM Conasole.
I think there are some WLST script or servlet java class available to resolve this issue.
Can any one confirm this and please suggest if any one aware of any alternative method.
    Thanks,

Hi, have you got any solution to this problem? I am having exact the same issue in 11.1.1.6.

  • Error BACKINT for Oracle Connection

    hi @ maxdb gurus...
i have a problem backing up my maxdb 7.6.0.033 (serving for a mysap.erp2005 on aix 5.3) using the backint mechanism.
-> backup media created: two pipes and one parallel medium containing these pipes
    -> bsi.env has been created
    -> backint4sapdb.sar contains
4 staging areas each with 4096 MB
       files per backint call 2
-> maxdb is about 57 gb perm. data area (and 6 gb temp.)
i use the backup wizard (dbmgui) to invoke a complete data backup which starts (pipes are created in the file system) and runs until approx. 4 gb...then the backup terminates with error "-24920 backup operation was unsuccesful. The database request failed with error -8020"
what might be the problem? are the staging areas too small? is says that when using only one stage area it must hold the complete database...can i then conclude that 4 staging areas must hold the database as well - meaning they must be around 15 gb each?
    GreetZ, AH

yup...but that also means that the sum of the staging areas need as much space as the database ie. around 70 gigs netto! the staging files will be filled and thus grow until the defined size, meaning that the file system(s) need to be big enough!
everything works fine until the stage files are filled (up to the defined size) and then stops...when i change the sizes of the staging areas i can reproduce the error!
i compared the tsm implementation of that system with another system (live cache...kind of small regarding db size...) and found nothing serious...
