Wechat ONLY on Imac

Why can't I use Wechat on my Imac with Mavericks?  The app assumes I've already got a Wechat login, but I do not have an iphone.  I ONLY want to use Wechat on my Imac!  Was told to go to "Bluestacks" and download some emulator...did this and then one is supposed to search for THEIR app for making the Wechat app work.  search function there reveals a blank screen.  Frustrated.

Try this if you haven't already:
The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Many, including me, have had success with adding DNS codes to their Network Settings, with good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • Can Airplay mirroring work on TV only while iMac's Monitor is off?

    Hi there
Can anyone please tell me if airplay mirroring can work on an iMac the same way it works on iPhones? i.e. can it transfer the picture to TV only while iMac's screen goes off, instead of using both displays (iMac's screen and TV)?
It would be nice if it gives you the option to decide whether you would like to use both TV and iMac Screen -or- use TV only while the iMac display is off.
Surely someone have tried this by now but I can't find any posts out there mentioning this exact issue yet so...

I haven't tried this yet with mavericks but I can confirm that you are able to use the ATV as a second screen.  I am able to view a full screen mirror (as an extended desktop) on the ATV fo some streaming content while using the computers main display to work on something else on the computer.  It works well enough to allow someone to use the computer and another person to watch something on the TV at the same time.  So you may be able to watch the ATV mirror while having the main screen go dark (or vice versa I suppose).

  • My new Airport express mysteriously dropped all signals, I reset it and only my iMac is now connected to my network. My iPad, iPhone 4S and Roku box will not connect - any solutions to this?

My new Airport express mysteriously dropped all signals (due to lack of DNS settings ?!?!), I reset it and only my iMac is able to be connected to my network. My iPad 2, iPhone 4S and Roku box will no longer connect. Any solutions to this? Everything was using my netwoek before.

Did you power down your modem prior to resetting the Express?
If not, do it now. Leave it connected to your Express while you power it down. Let it rest a moment or two, then power it back up. Once it restarts, determine if all your other devices are able to connect.

  • Only my iMac can't find Airport Express through Airport Utility

I can't get connected to Airport express with my iMac Intel-G5. No problems with my MacBook Pro or iPhone. Even the connection under Windows XP with my iMac is possible! So there shouldn't be a problem with the Airport Express device (connected to my cable modem) itself.
I had similar problems in the last 2 weeks, but mostly deactivating and reactivating the airport express did the job. Now even this doesn't help anymore.
    Any suggestions/help appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
This may seem picky, but your iMac has either an Intel processor or a G5 processor. It can't have both.
Is your problem only with connection in AirPort Utility from your iMac, connection to the Internet, or both?
You might try resetting your connection settings using the steps listed in this message:

They're not guaranteed to solve the problem, but they'll only take a minute or so to try.

  • MDP for audio only (on iMac mid2010)

    Hi
    I wanna buy a iMac 27": 2,8GHz (so it's mid 2010).
    The information i already gathered:
Audio through HDMI is possible (at least with the proper Adapter).
The issues with 10.6.4 are solved by 10.6.5.
TOSLink has a limited bandwidth and doesn't work for HD-Audio-Codecs (and i don't want to make compromises).
    Here's the thing:
I don't want to connect an external monitor, but i want to send audio through HDMI. If i connect the iMac through HDMI to my AV-Receiver (Denon AVR 1911) will the audio work, even though i don't use the output of my AV-Receiver to connect a TV/Monitor? Or wouldn't the AV-Receiver be recognized by the iMac?
    And if it does work:
Do i lose performance because the iMac would export audio and video? Or is it possible to disable video export and use the MDP for audio only?
I hope i explained my problems understandable. (Also hope my english is understandable, too. )
    Hope someone can help,
    Thanks in advance!
PS: Yes, i know it's not possible to play Blu-Rays on Mac, but I would appreciate
to be able to stream 5.1 PCM to my AV-Receiver.

Thanks RRFS, just a couple of questions for you : Do you (or would you) keep things like sample libraries for Kontakt, Logic (apple loops) and sound design library stuff (80 GBs +) on your internal SSD drive?  Also, is your internal SSD your principal (or only internal) drive ?  I have an iMac that already has a serial ATA as its principal drive, but the store I spoke with said they could add a second internal drive (SSD) to my system if I want to take out my optical drive.  Not sure if it would be worth the cash--probably $250 + for parts and labour for 128 GBs that won't make a huge difference to workflow speed, according to BDAqua.
    Cheers & thanks.

  • Airplay lag only on iMac.

So after searching through tons and tons of posts, and all over the internet. I still cannot work out, why I only get lag when airplaying from iMac. My iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPad mini and air 2, no lag at all. I can Airplay across the house, with these devices. And nothing. Yet my iMac, router and AT3 are all in the same room..and i get lag.
Im using a 27" late 2013 iMac, Apple tv 3. All are less than 2 months old..and I haven't got a clue what todo!
    Help!

Have just tried Airfoil and then there is no problem. So it must be an iTunes issue...

  • Internet connection cuts in and out, only on iMac 2.8 Duo, not MacBook Pro

    Problem started 2 weeks ago
Only on my new iMac, my internet connection disappears randomly, without any problem at the same time on the laptop or iPhone, and with no loss of Airport function/connection, only the internet and mail access is lost, and only on the iMac. I tried changing location, no help. Reboot the Airport, no help. I ran the newest Disk Warrior and did other checks on my system, and it all checks out OK. It's easy to think that things do help at first, b/c the connection comes and goes, seemingly at random.
I found a temporary, reliable fix - open Network diagnostics and just go thru the dialogue boxes. The first window always shows green lights for Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, and ISP, but "Internet - failed" and "Server - failed" and by the time I go thru each window, it's fixed, and the outbox empties and Safari opens the page. The problem is, then, an hour later or so, it's all lost again.
    Please help!

Just to clear this up so there's no confusion, there are two different things called Airport Extreme. The physical external hardware - wireless router, and then there's the internal wireless card inside the iMac, which is also an Airport Extreme card (you'll see this if you go to "about this mac" and select the hardware button - wireless card). I do not have the Airport Extreme external wireless router. I'm using a Motorola SBG900, and others have had this problem with D-link wireless routers. The recent software update for Airport Extreme has messed with the settings of the internal wireless card. If I go to Airport Utilities, it's looking for the external Airport Extreme router's settings. When you configure yours, are you configuring the external router, or the internal card's settings? My Airport Utilities stays blank when I open it (assuming this is because I use a 3rd party wireless router). Can you confirm that you're using the Apple Airport Extreme wireless router?

  • Firewire (AV) Videocam with USB-only New iMac

This has probably been answered somewhere but can't find it. What sort of connector is required to connect my Sony DCR HC52 camcorder to a new 21.5-inch: 3.06GHz USB-only computer? My current 4-year old MacBook Pro has the firewire input, which works fine with this tape-based camcorder.

    Hi saxyjazzman
It looks like the camcorder came with a FireWire 400 to 4 pin cable and the new iMac only has 4 USB ports and 1 FireWire 800 port.
So it looks like you need either a Sonnet 400 to 800 adapter or a 9 to 4 pin FireWire cable that connects to your camcorder.

  • Since selected groups only from iMac to iPhone

why can't i select "selected groups" only when syncing contacts to iPhone. I am trying to transfer a particular group contact to my phone from "contacts on my iMac.

Any chance your time zone is not set correctly on the iMac? As you are on the other side of the International Date Line it would be logical that changes would not register properly for 24 hours if either the computer or your phone was not set correctly. The phone should set itself but the computer's time zone is easily overlooked.

  • Popping sound from right speaker only of imac

I recently bought a (refurbished) September 2013 model imac 21.5".  Looks great, but only one problem when I play any audio/ video, streamed or local, there come a clicking and popping sound from the right side only. Sounds like fireworks from a distance.  No such noise through headphone.  I tried all solutions suggested on different forums.  No success.  Can someone out there help, before I decide to take it to the apple store or return it?

  • Is the only freezing iMacs the with the 2600 card? is the 2400 not affected

The new firware update is only for 20 and 24" with the 2600 graphic crad.
I havent bought an iMac yet was waiting for the fixes, does this updte mean tht the only iMacs affected were ones with 2600 graphics cards?
Were no freezing issues occuring on the 20" with the 2400 card? if they were I take it Apple are doing the fix for that now as well?
Also do you have to install 1.3 s/ware for Leopard and then do this firware fix for 2600?

The latest software update Apple Imac Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 has deemed my new Mid 2007 2.8 Ghz 24" iMac does not need updating. Normally I would not worry too much about this, as I have in fairness only suffered a few freezes which required a restart by switching the iMac off. However uncertainty is not good when you're entrusting a lot of important data to your computer.
I have definitely had the occasional freeze as described by others; admittedly this was mainly using 10.4.10. I also had the screen corruption in the area of cover flow within iTunes.
It seems more stable since upgrading to Leopard.
What concerns me is not knowing exactly what the latest firmware is correcting and why this isn't necessary for all new Mid 2007 iMacs?
I'm sure it would be comforting for all new iMac owners to know they can be certain how and why their new iMac is definitely not affected?
Does anyone know why only some particular new iMacs are deemed in need of this firmware update?
Please, please Apple issue a statement to clear up all the confusion about this issue, this will stop your loyal supporters from worrying unnecessarily?
    Mike (Version 1.0)

  • Cannot find idvd only new iMac

cannot find idvd on my new imac, have looked in apps.

    Good question, shame it's gone.
It's possible to re-install it if you've got a Snow Leopard back-up, although I haven't tried it myself:

  • TS3989 How do I accept iCloud updated terms of service on Apple TV 2nd generation using only an iMac computer, since I have no other iOS devices?

I just updated my Apple TV 2nd generation, and upon completion it would no longer give access to Photo Stream. Instead I was told that I needed to accept the change in iCloud terms of service without letting me know how to do that on an iMac, since I don't have any other iOS devices. Where do I go to accept these terms of service changes, in order to continue to use Photo Stream. Is there an easy answer, or is this Apple's way of forcing me to buy products that I don't need?

i guess you could put the aiport utility app on your iphone, click on the aiport express there, it will show you how many devices are connected to it and the mac addresses of those devices.

  • Yahoo mail rejects password but only on iMac

    Hi,
I have an Intel iMac and loving it, I bought it last December and Apple mail was just perfect. But recently every day I get an error message saying Yahoo has rejected my password and to re-enter, with an option to save in keychain. The password keeps being rejected but if I go into Yahoo mail on Safari then all seems fine and Apple mail works. I also have an iphone and ipad and these are fine, no password issues at all.
I know there has been a Yahoo update recently and I thought it could be that but then surely the iphone/ipad would also be affected. Equally there has been Lion updates and it all started around that time.
I have tried deleting the password in keychain and starting again, no help. I have deleted the email account and stated again, no help.
I am at my wits end trying to figure out what to do next. Any help or advise would be welcome.

Well, this time last night I thought BT had fixed the issue by creating the POP account. BUT this morning when I started it all happened again but now on both IMAP and POP !! so double the annoying messages.
Finally called Apple support as I have Apple Care I thought I should use my investment. Very helpful and patient guy, he said the issue was either software related or user set-up, to identify which we created a new User called TEST, so a virgin system, I then let the system create my email just as I did when I first got the machine last year and had no issue then. He then suggested that I try to use the new TEST user for my emails for a few days. If the issue returned then it is likely to be software, if not then likely to be user set-up/corruption somewhere.
So, I will let you know how I get on.
