Weg Gallery: Some photos downloadable, some not

Dear Forum,
I have an odd one here: I have a (password protected) Web Gallery I regularly update with new photos. It now turns out that all images I uploaded up to around a week ago are downloadable, the latest ones consistently aren't. I would like them all to be downloadable.
No settings have changed on the one computer (Macbook Pro) that I use to publish the web gallery. I have seen similar threads on this topic within this forum, but with no answer so far. I have followed one recommendation, to change the Web Gallery setting to make all images not-downloadable, synchronize, and make them downloadable again. No difference! I have the latest iPhoto version.
The consequence of this nuisance is that other iPhoto libraries which subscribe to this web gallery only get a small image downloaded (320x211 pixels).
Am I right in assuming this is an iPhoto bug? I cannot see any other setting I can change, and there is no distinction whatsoever between the photos - all are taken by the same camera over the past 3 weeks. There is no reason that I see for this sudden change in behavior.
Thanks a lot in advance!

I've seen this too, but even with non-updated galleries - some photos are downloadable, some not.
I think the servers may be unstable or there are errors in updating the status of individual images.
I suspect it's a 'bug' of sorts but I've no idea if it's iPhoto or the server end.
Also there seems to be an issue with uploaded 'originals' getting re-sized. My Canon photos are 3504 wide but get changed to 3054 wide for download (heigh scaled to preserve aspect ratio). These originals will be 1/6th of the size of library originals.
It's not ideal but another poster mentioned that deleting the web gallery then re-publishing corrected things - not an ideal solution but may be worth a shot - maybe you could create an album which gets published as a web gallery to allow for easy updates of a gallery from different events.

  • IPhoto6 likes some photo's but not others

    Hi All,
I've a real problem with iPhoto and thought some of you gurus could maybe help. I've around 3500 photo's in my library. I populated my library by importing photo's from my folders on my Windows PC (networked to my Mac) and more recently directly from my camera (all done as I'm supposed to - through iPhoto). The photo's are all there, no problems opening iPhoto etc - the application is swift and neat. Now here's the problem.
I have created a number of albums and have organised my photo's (or am trying to) by album. I'm dragging the photos from the main library into the appropriate album, however, some photo's do not like being dragged and dropped at all - they eventually do (after say 5 minutes of spinning beach ball) place a copy (or reference to main original file) in the album. There may be some reason behind this but from my perspective it appears random - there's no telling which photo iPhoto will and will not like. This reduces my productivity heaps - what should be a very slick and easy task turns into a hair-pulling, eye-poppingly frustrating one.
This of course also mucks up all the other iLife applications eg iDVD - I'm using the albums to create slideshows - dragging and dropping the albums to a slideshow created in iDVD easy? Nope - will not import some photo's. Same goes for iWeb.
There should be no problems with imported photos as I kept all photo's on my old PC organised in a similar way to the Mac does anyway ie by month and then by original and by edited.
I've also tried cleaning thumbnails and entire library (marginal performance achieved) and running onyx to clean permissions etc. I've taken out RAW files and movies taken on camera's to see if that would work...nope. Running out of ideas now...
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

do you know if it is possible to open multiple instances/windows of iPhoto
As Terence stated, no. The best you can do is to use iPLM or iPhoto Buddy to quickly jump between libraries. Or use iTLM to merge the one library into the other and keep them all in one. In any case take a look at the tip at the end of my signature. It may help protect you against damaged database files which has been an all to common problem here.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Diapresentation: some photo's are not there

I use Iphoto 7.1.5. I have a problem with the "diavoorstelling"/ slideshow. Some photo's are not displayed. I checked them but I donot see any difference between the photos that are displayed during the slideshow and the photos that are not. All photos are in the same map and have the same characteristics.
I tried to rebuild , using alt+ cmd , but it doesnot help: als photos are in Iphoto, but only some of them are used in a slideshow of an album that i chosse.
Is it possible that the use of PICASA gives these problems?

When I try to add photos from PhotoStream into my iPhoto Library a message appears asking to view the photo in the library (as if it were already imported).
How exacly are you trying to import from the Photo Stream? Dragging from the stream to the events? Ctrl-clicking or right clicking?
If "Show in Library" does not show the event, then your iPhoto Library may need repairing or rebuilding;  try to run the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools, if you have not already done so. See this post by Old Toad on how to do it:    Rebuild iPhoto Library Version 11:

  • Photo Downloader does not detect Thunderbolt connection. Help!

I am using Bridge CS5.1 on MacBook OSX 10.8.3. I bought a Seagate Thunderbolt Adapter which works with 2.5" eSATA hard drives (Seagate Backup Plus). Instead of connecting a 2.5" eSATA to this Thunderbolt Adapter to my Mac, I am doubling this thunderbolt connection as a CF card reader by swapping the eSATA portable drive with a CF to eSATA Adapter instead. Photo Downloader does not detect anything connected through thunderbolt!?
When the CF card or portable drive is connected via the TB adapter, it appears in Bridge and Finder. The Canon's Image Browser (Memory Card Utility) detects only the CF card (not the portable drive) as a Camera and downloads the images from the CF card via the thunderbolt adapter with no issues. I would prefer Bridge to download the images due how the folder names are created by Bridge. (I have been using Bridge for few years now and dont want to change the naming convention. Can't seem to find a way for Canon to name it exactly the same as Bridge. It does YYYY_MM_DD amd I cant get rid of the underscores in Canon's software)
How can I get Photo Downloader (File: Get Photos from Camera...) on Bridge CS5.1 to detect the Thunderbolt connection as a Camera?
Excuse my messy desk, here's a pic of the set up with the CF card plugged into the CF to eSATA adapter : and onto the Seagate TB Adapter. and the TB cable goes into the Mac

It works perfectly well. My issue is getting Adobe Bridge 5.1 to recognise the CF card via thunderbolt in photo downloader.
Despite having bought a MacPro just a few months ago I still have no Thunderbolt connection so i can't confirm this.
I do know Photodownloader has not changed a bit since it was presented long time ago and definitively needs a lot of improvement.
It is very possible that Photodownloader is not capable detecting thunderbolt connections and Canon software doing so does almost proof APDL does not do so.
You can try to dive in the user library (by default hidden, use menu Go and press option to reveal it) and in the folder preferences find and delete the Photodownloader plist file manual.
    restart photodownloader and try again.
The other option is to use a USB 3.0 or Firewire (both also pretty fast).
The third option is to use Bridge itself for renaming the files you imported manual. Using the sort order creation date and batch rename use the option for shot date (yymmdd-number or other info) and either organize with stacks or create folders.
There is also a nice app (not free but cheap called 'big mean folder machine" from the same team that offers 'A better finder rename'.
Both offer plenty of options that makes life easier, such as producing folders with specific naming and order in no time

  • Why were some photos downloaded into trash?

When I downloaded photos from a Compact Flash into Aperture, some of them went into trash.   I tried moving them to my library and even though I could see the photos (with an arrow and a hazard sign in the corner) under the adjustments tab where the histogram should be, it said "image not found".
I then tried downloading the pictures with the Canon Software and was successful.
So I tried downloading just three of the pictures (that did not originally download with Aperture but did with Canon Software) again with Aperture and got "Import Items Completed with Errors" and they went in the Trash.
Interestinly, when I open the compactflash on my computer to see the files - those photos that did not load into Aperture did not show on the card.
I can't figure out if it is a problem with the CompactFlash, my Canon 7D, or Aperture.    Any ideas???

In addition to what Leonie said, I would empty your trash, if any, in the Dock icon, then mount this card by way of a card reader, and then see, in the Finder, if there is any trash associated with the volume represented by the card.  I am thinking some action may have deleted images as seen when mounted on the computer, but have not been totally removed from the card's space.
I have never experimented with this, as I never delete from a card on the computer, but only via a new Formatting in the camera.  I recommend you do that as so as possible after you have satisfied yourself that you have captured whatever has been on the card.

  • How do you export photos and movies from iPhoto to your iPhone? I synced the device and noticed that some photos and some movies from iPhoto on my laptop were not transferred to my iPhone.

How do you export photos and movies from iPhoto to your iPhone?  I synced the devices and noticed that some photos and movies on my laptop iPhoto were not transferred to my iPhone?

I am not sure, which answer you found - so just in case:
If you sync your iPhone with the iPhoto library, the photos will only stay on the iPhone until the next sync and they are not in the Camera Roll. If you transfer using the Photo Stream, they will only be vidsible in the stream, until they are replaced in iCloud by newer content.
So, if you want to transfer the photos permanently, save them to the Camera Roll.

  • Bridge CS5 Photo Downloader will not rename files

I choose Custom Name + Shot Date but Photo Downloader ignores this
and transfers files as MG+4 numbers. I can't even get a sequencial number even though I choose one
Before in CS4 I used this option with success.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dave Harman

Are you using a card reader for file transfer?
If not buy  one as it provides better transfer operation than from camera.

  • Photos downloaded but not copied into iphoto

I downloaded 92 photos from my camera to iphoto 7.1.5, the download finished, I deleted the original photos on the camera at the prompt to keep or delete originals, and iphoto then crashed.  When I restarted iphoto, the photos I'd just downloaded did not appear in iphoto.   The previous import shows up as the latest import.
I called Apple's tech support and they told me that the download was completed and the photos copied before I got the prompt to "keep or delete originals".  However, they said the photos did not then get copied over from the folder into which they were copied to the last import folder.
Steve at the tech support told me that I could either pay them $49 for tech support or I could go to the apple support communities and try to get help.  So, I'm hoping someone can tell me how to get access to my photos and copy them into the import folder in iphoto.
Thanks to anyone who can help me solve this problem.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IWeb 08 and Photo Download Size not sticking to Original (Full Quality)

I am using iWeb 08 to post personal webpages and photo galleries but even when I select *"Original (Full Quality)"* under Photo Download Size in the inspector it slips off full size and make smaller pictures. I almost always want to offer full resolution image to my friends and family. Is there a way to make this work more reliably? Is it being fixed?

I found in this iWeb test pertained more to the image pixel dimensions than the jpg compression level of the downloadable file as you found out.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • When I select "get media" nothing happens and the photo downloader does not respond.

I am unable to download my photos to Elements 10.  The program recognizes my Canon camera and he number of photos on its card.  But when I tap "get media" nothing happens and I then cannot even cancel or close the photo downloader page, which Task Manager says is not responding.  Help?

    Please try following workarounds-
    1. Please restart the machine and try importing again.
    2. From blog: http://psekb.blogspot.in/2013/03/pse-organizer-is-not-launching.html, please  try solution #2 and step #2 under solution #1. Please do the steps for both Oragnizer and AdobePhotodownloader (.exe located at same location as that of Elements Organizer)
If above steps doesn't resolve the system, please provide following info:
    - Operating system?
    - Are you using a multi (OS) user machine (eg standard user, guest account or another administrator account) etc?

  • Some photo's will not transfer to iPod

My iPod touch started experiencing strange behavior ever since the 1.1.4 update was installed.
Now whenever I sync it, I receive an error that certain photos will not be synced because they cannot be displayed on the iPod. The funny thing is that there is nothing different with these files. They all came from the same camera and it will even load other images from the same event. As far as I'm aware, these files have not been edited outside of iPhoto.
Here is the error: "Some of your photos, including 'PB25005.jpg' were not copied to the iPod 'Touch' because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
I like how it states that there is multiple photo's and then gives an example of a photo that cannot be copied. How do I find out what the other photos are? Why can't they be synced?
Anybody know if there is a log file that I can review
    Anyone have any ideas?

I have noticed the same behavior of the IPT syncing photos. And I've noticed it prior to the 1.1.4 update.
Of the 2722 images in 16 folders that I attempt to sync the IPT accepts 2701 and rejects 21. (Less than 1% failure ratio.) I have not been able to discover the rhyme or reason for the rejects and have played with one photo to force (trick) my iPod into accepting it to no avail.
It's a mystery but not a great concern since the IPT is just a fun way to display my portfolio.

  • Some photos gone, some not?

I was trying to free up some space on my computer. I did the following: I went to the "Search For"on my hard drive sidebar (Today, Yesterday, Last Week, All images, All documents, etc) I clicked on "Search For" all images selected some and dragged them to the trash. I then checked in iPhoto to make sure my originals were there and they were so I emptied the trash.
Now when I go to iPhoto the title of photo shows up, and the frame. The photo shows up at first but when I click on it, either an exclamation point shows up or nothing.
I have done this before (trashed photos from the "Search For" area) and not had this problem.
What have I done and how do I get my pics back?
Thanks so much for any help. Even redirecting me to other posts and answers would be greatly appreciated.
    Julee

I then checked in iPhoto to make sure my originals were there and they were so I emptied the trash.
    How did you do this?
Now when I go to iPhoto the title of photo shows up, and the frame. The photo shows up at first but when I click on it, either an exclamation point shows up or nothing.
this is an indication of corruption of the iPhoto library which is most often caused by user modification of the iPhoto Library
I did the following: I went to the "Search For"on my hard drive sidebar (Today, Yesterday, Last Week, All images, All documents, etc) I clicked on "Search For" all images selected some and dragged them to the trash.
Were the photos you deleted in the iPhoto Library? If they were the reason they are gone it that you "dragged them to the trash"
What have I done and how do I get my pics back?
Do you have a current backup? If you do load it.
Go to your pictures folder and right click (control click on a single button mouse) on the iPhoto library package and select show package contents - open the originals folder and look - DO NOT MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS or deletions - to see if your photos are there.
If they are not you need to get some file recovery software and try to undelete the photos you trashed.
If they are in the originals folder you can make a new library and populate it with those photos as follows
    1 - quit iPhoto
2 - drag the iPhoto library to the desktop
3 - launch iPhoto and allow it to create a new library
4 - drag the originals folder onto the iPhoto icon in the dock
This will import all of the photos in the originals folder to your new working iPhoto library
In the future never change anything in the iPhoto library from the finder or any program except iPhoto - and always keep a good, current backup

  • Some Photos from card not appearing on Import

When I Import photos into Aperture from my EOS 1d in many case it tends to just find about a third of the images that are on the card and the "Loading Assets" Indicator in Aperture just spins forever and the rest of the images from the card never appear until I cancel the task and import all over again.
It's quite dangerous as it would be easy to think you had imported all of your images and then delete them from the card in camera. Would formatting the card make a difference?

    nufsed,
I have been asked by our engineers to pass along some questions.  I've also sent a copy of these to your email address you registered here on the forums with.
    1. Who hosts the IMAP account that received the email in question?
    2. Who hosts the email account that sent the email in question?
    3. What program was used to send the email? (May be easy to answer if email came from a friend or individual that the customer knows. Less difficult if it came via a company.)
    4. Can we get a copy of the header from the email causing this issue? This may need to be done from the desktop PC
    Thank you.

  • Some photos in album not available in unplaced picture strip for book

An annoying problem on all the books I have prepared is that the Book album shows the correct number of photos but they all don't show up in the unplaced photo strip so I can drag them to the book layout. I have tried dragging these photos from the album to the book album but they are already there! Ideas?

I've been hunting around for the "missing" photos and I looked in the iphoto library folder on my hard drive and found a folder called albumdata.xml. Inside were all of the albums and lists of numbers that obviously correspond to photos, but which don't have obvious correlations. Does anyone know how to find out how iphoto numbers the photos in my library so I can quickly find these photos and put them back in my book? I have over 5000 photos, and chose 200 of them for the book. I could go back through all 5000, but I'd rather start from where I left off, or at least use the data that is stored for the book, even if these photos aren't showin gin the "unplaced photos" area. Thank you!
    By the way - for clarity, here is what I found for my book in the xml file: "AlbumName Birth Book KeyList 1362 1372 1326 1352 1324 1345 1342 1336 1331 1234 1299 1292 1286 1285 1258 1436 1437 1441 1447 1461 1563 1470 1467 1573 1576 1546 1543 1542 1541 1555 1595 1553 1583 1622 1634 1653 1662 1690 1700 1735 1738 1744 1812 526 1835 1959 2253 2264 2309 2323 2360 2361 2370 2377 2305 1918 485 515 448 909 913 928 953 957 961 978 989 1019 1176 1184 1209 3179 3054 3064 3193 3452 3462 3339 3470 3483 3487 3512 3537 3549 3558 3373 3563 3697 3708 4004 4038 4042 4052 4060 4090 4102 4116 4182 4284 4582 4634 4636 4704 4758 4764 4775 4839 4789 4791 4821 4813 4980 5405 5429 5461 5517 5548 5716 5574 5638 6709 6711 6685 6445 6451 7082 7128 7132 7140 7176 7401 7405 7407 7598 7600 7750 7808 7928 10882 10894 9181 9329 9365 9959 10117 10125 10133 10157 10175 10209 10219 10263 10433 8304 8320 8350 8396 8424 8456 8600 8608 8646 8696 8742 8820 10904 10908 8210 8214 8872 10653 10657 10675 10924 10938 10950 10992 10994 11004 11008 11012 11410 11420 11444 11456 11462 11468 11510 11516 11530 11532 11534 11544 11550 11552 11556 11558 11562 11564 11590 11646 11658 11829 11847 11895 11899 11901 Album Type Book PhotoCount 207"

  • Some film downloads are 'not authorised on this computer' - I need help to resolve this please!

I recently bought Superman and Superman II for my son and went to transfer them to my iPhone and his iTouch, as I normally do. Superman works fine; Superman II is labelled as 'not authorised for this computer' and so I can't put it onto my devices although it plays on the Macbook. CAn someone help me to rectify this situation? Otherwise I have paid for nothing!
    Thanks.

make sure all your devices are under singular apple id.
also, connect the device to itunes to add it to your account device list.
or you can go to ipod/iphone itunes store app, log in your apple id.
hope this would make it work.
