Weight difference

What is the exact weight difference between the 16g and the 32g iPhone 4?

Apple does not publish different weights for the different capacities of iPhones. There may be a slight difference but it would be a matter of a few grams at most; certainly not something anyone carrying the iPhone would ever notice.

  • Exact weight difference between iPhone 4 models?

I'm looking for an EXACT weight for each model of iPhone 4. AT&T v. Verizon.
This has to do with a verrrry delicate balancing idea. So guesses, approximations, tenths of an ounce don't count.
What is the weight -- no fooling -- of each model with the identical memory?
Does anyone out there have both and a sub-gram scale that could shed some light on this?
All that I see in various "comparison" stories are things like "the -battery- weighs 1.3 g less in the Verizon model (but the vibrator is heavier by a micro fraction)", and Apple's published spec, which calls 137 g = 4.8 oz.
Actually 137 g = 4.83+ oz. And 4.80 oz is closer to 136 g in real life. So these figures are only as accurate as their tolerance is. Good enough for a consumer to grasp, but not an engineer.
I'm looking to pin it down to the tenth of a gram. Or better.
    Any takers?

If you need that kind of accuracy, are you going to believe what you read here? You shouldn't.
You need to measure them yourself... get a calibrated scale and go to ATT and VZW. Make sure you use the same scale that is calibrated to that degree (at least 5x better than ±0.1g).

  • Freehand MX line weight issue?

I am having a problem seeing the difference between say a 1pt line and a .5 line when viewing and creating an illustration at 100%. The line weights look identical. If I view or edit the illustration at say 200% the line weight difference is noticable. What is going on here?
    Thanks....

Freehand is based on the Postscript imaging language which uses 72 points to an inch. Freehand was written when the prevailing computer display resolution was 72 pixels per inch (72ppi).
    Therefore, 1 point = 1 pixel.
To display a stroke finer than 1 pixel, Freehands’ Preview mode can’t show a partial pixel, but it does show a lighter shade of gray.
If you’re designing web images, don’t use strokes finer than 1 point (1 pixel) because they won’t display well in 72ppi raster images.
When working with very fine strokes for print or other kinds of output, I find it easiest to work to scale. Make a custom scale in your page rulers such as 4 points = 1 point (400%).
View > Page Rulers > Edit
Please keep in mind that today’s computer displays have a higher pixel density than 72ppi so 100% view in Freehand won’t be actual size.

  • Increase line weight

I have exported an architectural drawing from a CAD program into Illustrator. Is there a way to select the 5 or 6 drawings i have on the page and increase the lineweight globally? ie. All my lineweights are scaled, but showing up too light. I want to increase everything by 400%. Is there an efficient way to achieve this?
    Thanks.

Example: You have a drawing consisting of paths which have strokes of various weights. You want to double the weight of all the paths. You don't want to apply the
same weight to all the paths; you want them to maintain the same relative weight differences between them--you just want all the various stroke weights doubled.
    1. Select the artwork. (Might help to Group them.)
    2. Transform Palette Flyout menu: Turn on Scale Strokes and Effects.
    3. DoubleClick the Scale tool. Enter 200%. Click OK.
    4. Transform Palette Flyout menu: Turn off Scale Strokes adn Effects.
    5. DoubleClick the Scale tool. Enter 50%. Click OK.

  • Weight matters ATA drive vs. Solid State

What is the weight difference between a 500GB 5400-rpm1 and a 128g solid state drive

OWC, http://www.macsales.com lists a 240 GB SSD drive at 80 grams and a 250 GB hard drive at 93.5 grams...so slight difference in weight for close to the same capacity.

  • Main difference between mac book pro and mac book

    Hi,
I have been using boot camp "love it" My point.
Which is the best lap top for using boot camp. I am considering buying a macbook and use it for site work ( Industrial plc programing ) with boot camp and maintain my MacBook Pro as my desktop workstation.
Is the Macbook Pro more robust? Are the componets designed for a longer life ? than the regular macbook? or is it just the size of screen?
    G4 Cube /G4 power book/MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Is the Macbook Pro more robust?
In actual fact I think the MacBook would be more robust. It is more designed with the average consumer and student in mind where the MBP is aimed more at "pro" users (whatever that means).
Are the componets designed for a longer life ?
That I don't know although "better" components are used in the MBP. You might notice how little a weight difference there is between the MB and 15" MBP.
or is it just the size of screen?
It's not just screen size and if you carefully compare the specs in each…
    http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html
    http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html
… you'll see there are certain things that the MB can't do that the MBP can or the MBP can do better. For instance, one big difference is the GPU as well as 3GB RAM limit over 2GB.

  • Iphone 5s Weight&Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

I was wondering does anyone realize a significant weight difference between the iphone 4s and 5s?  I'm about to get the 5s and see that it has a smaller weight but wondering if it would make a signifacant difference especailly since I have carpal tunnel syndrome and also considering getting 4s.  I bought Samsung Galaxy SIII last year and that thing was like a frickin brick....just killed my hands and I returned  it and went back to my flip phone.
So does iphone 5s feel much lighter?

I know but does it FEEL lighter or the same as 4s.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Display 13" or MacBook Air 13"??

I'm starting university in September and I'm considering purchasing a MacBook Pro 13" or a MacBook Air 13" to use during my study. I just can't decide which to go for.
Because I do a lot of photography work - (Adobe Photoshop) - I'm guessing the pro is a good option although the only thing I'm concerned about is the weight. I'll be taking my MacBook wherever I go - I.e. On field trips, lectures to take notes, friends' houses etc. so I want it to be portable and easy to carry wherever I go.
My friend has an Air and it looks and feels great. But I've been thinking is worth me getting the pro? Is the weight difference that much of an issue? Or wont I notice it? I've seen many comparison videos and both seem to be pretty close in terms of thinness. I just don't want to feel gutted if I go for the Air when the MacBook Pro might have a lot more to offer. I'll also be using office software for all my writing work for my course next year and the idea of having crisp sharp typography really appeals to me if I go for the pro. Having said this, I've heard that the standard resolution and the retina display can't really be differentiated from working distance but I've also heard that the colours are more vibrant on the pro. Another concern is the battery life. I'm really stuck.
    Thank you for your time.

The Pro is slightly better for Photography.   The 15" Pro is even better as the graphics chip gives you more chip based power.
The weight is not that much.  I used to carry around an 8 lbs Powerbook in 1998.  The key to weight is having the proper bag with adjustable straps.
And when you do transport it, do not leave it on.  Shut it down.  Even with the sudden motion sensor, the innertia may suddenly wake it from sleep or make the hard drive deteriorate faster.  If it wakes with the lid closed, that can cause it to overheat from the display on the computer's keyboard.

  • Macbook Pro 13 (late 2013) - external disks unmount after sleep

I've seen many other similar posts - just adding mine to the pile - wondering if anyone has seen a fix or has a recommendation
Macbook Pro 13 inch (late 2013) the Thunderbolt and firewire drives unmount when Macbook pro sleeps. (NOTE firewire drive connected via Thunderbolt display - but same happens with TB drives when connected direct to MBP)
Not a showstopper - but frustrating - fix would be nice.
    Thanks
PS I had a Macbook Air 2011, with no "unmount" problem when i upgraded to Mavericks.
PPS - Really enjoyed moving from MBA to MBP 13 - superior build quality, keyboard much better and display.... amazing. Weight difference neglible.

Short update: After reading a while I tried several keyboard shortcuts during start up ... and I solved the issue:
Hold Command + Option + 'p' + 'r' during startup. This zaps the PRAM (Parameter RAM), an option that long-time Mac users will remember. Press and hold the key combination until you hear the second set of chimes. Zapping the PRAM returns it to its default configuration for display and video settings, time and date settings, speaker volume, and DVD region settings.
Thanks to all people who document such issues and its solution.

  • New Mighty Mouse have better scrollwheel?

The new iMacs ship with a new mighty mouse -- anyone know if there's changes to the scroll wheel so it won't get dirty as easily?

Just packing up my old iMac for sale and noticed the color difference. There is a small weight difference (New one is lighter),and the older one with the grey sides and ball matches the new iMac better.

  • Quickbooks Problem or MacBook Pro Problem

While using Quickbooks on my MacBook Pro the screen suddenly goes black?  Anybody seen this before?  The only way to fix this is to restart the computer.

I agree with Shldr2, I think the MBP is going to be a better fit for your needs than the MBA. That's a lot of simultaneous computing power needs and I feel like the MacBook Air might come up short for you. Another thing to consider and I feel like sometimes this is overlooked is expandability. Having lugged around a 15" MBP for 2+ years in downtown Manhattan before switching to a 13" MBP and ultimately a 13" MBA the weight difference between that 13" MBP and 13" MBA isn't going to break your back.

  • Guide me as a developer of iOS and also and active online game player of games like PWI, which macBook is good for me pro or air or other if any ?

    Hi,
I am now to macBooks and dont know which one is good for me.
Please guide me which one I have to buy.
    Regards,

The retina display MacBook Pros are very lightweight, so you won't really notice a weight difference between a 15" or 13" one. If you can afford it, get the 15" notebook.
Purchase the most powerful configuration you can afford.  If you can afford it, get the larger SSD - but, you can always get a portable external hard drive that you can take with you if you find the internal drive is too small.

  • Is the MBA 256gb right for me?

    Hello all,
Let me start by saying Im going to be buying a Macbook soon and Im leaning toward the MBA because of the portability and speed it offers. This will be my first Mac. I am a High School Teacher and Im also going to school myself so I need portability, but money is also tight. Primary uses will be for Word Documents, Spreadsheets, Internet surfing, Emails with PDF downloads and a "homebase" for my iTunes account. I cant think of any use where I would need a CD drive.
I guess my question is, will the MBA be enough for me or should I opt for the Macbook Pro? Any suggestions?
Also, Macrumors says the MBA is due for an update soon? Should I hold off my purchase? My HP is on its way out!
Thank you for any help you have to offer!

MBA should do you just fine--do make sure you get 4gb RAM. The Pro is really for people who either need that disk drive, or might need something larger/expandable in the future. That doesn't seem likely with you (i.e. they're doing heavy duty programs, animation, videos, etc.--or might be doing that in the future.). And though some may say otherwise, having switched from a Pro myself, I can say that I very much notice the weight difference--and how much easier and faster it is to slip my computer in and out of the bag. Also that I can carry around a thinner bag You can't imagine the bulky backpacks I had before I got the air. Packing and unpacking are very speedy as I can manage my MBA with one hand, which means I get where I'm going and get to work that much faster. You might think that a pound or so less in weight and half-the-thickness wouldn't matter, but it really can be a huge difference.
As for whether you need anything bigger or more powerful: the thing you have to remember is that the common wisdom for computers of yesteryear really doesn't apply any more. That wisdom was to get the biggest and fastest, because everything in your life was going to be on it--mail, documents, programs, pictures, music, movies, games....
But the fact is, between what we put on our phones, renting rather than buying movies, external hard drives (always a good idea to have so you can back everything up in case!), clouds, the internet, iPods, iPads, etc, most of us really don't need ourlaptops to be able to hold everything. And, in addition, many of those things have significantly shrunk in recent years, while hard drives and SSD on laptops have gotten larger. So music takes up far less space than it once did on hard drives, yet you've got more hard drive than you did back when the music was taking up so much space.
Which all means you really can have a laptop as thin and light as the MBA that does all you'd want a laptop to do. Just check how much HD you'll need for all you want to put on it. If the amount is less than 256g--i.e. you'll be able to put it all on and have some wiggle room--you're golden.
