Weight of a page /reveal images when scrolling.

Hello, all!
This is my first post in the DW forum, my field of expertise is Photoshop and imaging in general.
A user in the french forum asked several questions that I can't unfortunately answer:
One deals about the total weight of a page, when images are only revealed with a mouseover. I originally pointed the weight/time meter on the bottom of the document panel, but the question is about the total weight with the linked images. (But the actual amount loaded when one reaches the page initially is the one listed, right?)
The second question deals about the fact that she noticed on certain sites that images are revealed/load only when one scrolls down to reach their location in the page. My assumption is that it is done with a script, but I might be totally wrong.
Hoping you can help me help him/her.

For the images that load only when the area is in focus (scroll, for example) she can use Lazyload plug-in. You can get details here: http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/lazyload
For the load shown in status bar of DW, it's 'File Size/ Download Time'. This excludes all 'remote' images. As the name suggests, it only displays the actual 'file' size and objects that have been written into the file and locally linked.

  • Pages break up when scrolling

When I scroll pages in Safari, they 'fracture' - i.e. graphics break up, lines of text split, yet when I try to capture the screen to illustrate the problem it fixes itself. What's going on?? Only noticed this since upgrading to 10.5.4 and Safari 3.1.2.

Hi There, Also having breakup lines whilst scrolling in Safari. Doesn't do it on Firefox. Also when scrolling in "Events" in iPhoto Library, the thumbnails break up with white flashing rectangles. Doesn't look so good! Any ideas? Looks like the display doesn't like it somehow.

  • Published iWebsite pages turn red when scrolling pages in iWeb

    Hi everyone,
Just wondering if I'm the only person who has this issue; when I publish my iweb sites and pages (to MobileMe) all goes well, but when I then scroll my page up and down in iWeb the site turns red again as if I have changed its content.
I've tried the usual stuff (deleted caches, prefs, logged into MM under a bogus username and password) to check if the problem is a MM issue but this also occurs when I publish to a folder...
I've repaired disk permissions and did a fresh install of OS X (10.6.7) two weeks ago.
Does anyone have any other suggestions which might solve this issue? Or perhaps even the same problem?
    cheers,
    koen

    Brilliant OT!
Although immediately posting to the discussions group says something about my personal opinion on the reliability of iWeb ... the problem was caused as you expected; the double digit finger action.
So 'no swiping in iWeb' I suppose.
The 'turning red' of published site pages was 100% reproducible by scrolling down using my trackpad, but it doesn't happen when I use my mighty mouse or the arrow buttons/scroll bar thing. (Even although nothing was selected in iWeb, bit of a bug if you'd ask me)
Thanks again for pointing out the logical and to me not so obvious
    cheers,

  • Pages layout disappears when scrolling

When using pages, after i select the template i want to use, i begin to edit the template. but if i scroll down, even just a little, the entire template vanishes. It is only when i scroll all the way up that the template is visible in the work space.
What is going on? I dont understand. How can I work on a template when I can't even see it?
Somebody please help, this is getting quite annoying.

    Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your reply, however I do not think it is the document that has the problem. It is the program itself. Here is a detailed description of what happens:
    1. I open pages
    2. I pick out a template
    3. Template opens and I want to edit it
    4. I scroll down to view the lower part of the template (zoomis on 125%)
    5. Template disappears as soon as i start scrollng down. When I scroll back up to the top the template re-appears.
If i change the zoom setting to "fit to page" everything is ok, but I have a hard time editing because what I see is too small.
This is a strange problem is is really getting quite annoying becaus I cant use pages for anything because of this.

  • Darkened image when scrolling/moving

When I'm scrolling (vertically or horizontaly) the image gets darkened like this:
    http://cake.no/screenshot1.png
This is happening both in finder, aperture, firefox (and other applications). It's happening on both the built in screen on the MBP and the external.
Have anyone got a clue about what this might be?

well I looks like it was KMS.
I had to disable it some time ago because it was causing me some problems, but as it seems that was happening because I didnt configure it.. I followed the wiki for ATi and KMS is working well now, and it seems that I dont have the scroll problem anymore..
    best regards
    EDIT:
still having problem with KMS, so I had to disable it.. however there are two ways of doing it in the wiki.. adding "radeon.modeset=0" or "nomodset" to the kernel append line in the grub menu.lst.. I used to have to be using the nomodset, but now I'm using the radeon.modeset=0 to disable KMS.. for now it seems that the scroll problem is gone.
I can definitely say that this problem is KMS related.

  • How do I disable Firefox Faster - where subsequent pages automatically load when scrolling down the page?

When I am on the website "PlentyofFish.com" and scroll down to the end of the page, the subsequent pages begin to load up and "stack up" which conceals the previous pages and contacts. This does not normally cause a problem with other websites, like news sites, where I can read from page to page without having to find the "page forward" button.

This should be in the same spot:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General mini-tab > ''uncheck the box for'' "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

  • A centred page moves about when scroll bar appears DW Cs5?

Hi everybody, I have noticed that when you have web pages centred, that the pages annoyingly move about when a scroll bar appears. Some times a page is longer than the browser window and so a scroll bar appears on the right which allows the viewer to scroll down.
But what happens is, it then centres the page in the centre of the space that is left after the scroll bar appears so the page jilts from to side to side according to whether the page has a scroll bar, obviously this looks rubbish.
Is there any code that can make the browser centre the page in the same place, so that the scroll bar eats into the space on the right side rather than pushes the whole page over to the left. ?
    many thanks for any help

Ideally, CSS code belongs in your external stylesheet file.
While you're testing site ideas, you could temporarilly add styles to your HTML pages like so:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF=".\favicon.ico">

  • Issue with hidden subforms and fields becoming visible when scrolling

    Hi all:
Was testing an XFA form on a 13" macbook air when I noticed something odd: Page 1 (which had a presence of "hidden") became visible on-screen when scrolling down Page 2, which was set to visible.  For lack of a better description, Page 1 "bled through" the currently visible page but then disappeared after the scrolling action was complete.
    Here was the sequence:
    - FYI: 4 pages in the form; only one page is visible at a time. When the document opens, Page 1 is visible and all the others are hidden.
    - Opened on a MAC with Reader XI
    - Answered questions on Page 1 and clicked a "next" button which set Page1 to hidden and Page 2 to visible;
    - I zoomed in for a better view on Page 2 (again Pages 1, 3,4 are all "hidden" at this point)
    - When I placed two-fingers on the track pad and scrolled down, the bottom of hidden PAGE 1 was revealed during the scroll, not the bottom of Page 2.
    - When I lifted my fingers OFF the track pad, the bottom portion of Page 1 that became visible while scrolling disappeared and was replaced by the bottom of Page 2.
Same thing happened with pages 3 & 4.  If I zoom in and scroll up, down, left or right using the track pad, Page 1 (even though it is set to hidden) "bleeds through" during the scroll and then disappears when fingers are lifted off the track pad.
I've done some testing and it happens on Macs running Reader.  Mac with Acrobat and PCs with either Acrobat or Reader appear to be fine but not finished testing.
Made a simple working example.  Again, be sure to open on a Mac with Reader if you want to see it happen. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jnf4uxntuzvrk7p/bleed%20through%20tests.pdf?dl=0
Has anyone else experienced this?? How can we stop it from happening as it is extremely confusing to the end-user to have two different pages mixing together when scrolling.
    Thanks much.
    Brian

Just reaching out to the community again on this.  Any thoughts or similar experiences?
FYI, I tested the new Reader DC for this issue yesterday and it's still there.  Hidden pages still bleed through.

  • DW CC display total weight of a page?

Hello, in DW CC I'd like to know how to display the whole weight of a page including images and all (KB), so the functionality that used to be at the lower right hand side of earlier versions of DW. Couldn't find the answer using google. Thanks a lot.

The information shown in DW is incorrect. This page shows it being 321K / 7 sec in the right hand bottom corner of the view panel.
In actual fact it is 852.72 KB and takes 0.76 secs  to fully load. The code without style sheet, JavaScript and images is 9.30 KB.
    Go figure!

  • Pngs flicker and appear as white boxes when scrolling down page in Chrome 37.0.2062.120 m

    Hello,
I have noticed that pngs flicker and appear as white boxes when scrolling down the page in Chrome 37.0.2062.120 m in windows only. Chrome on the mac is fine and this issue doesn't occur on the windows version of chrome canary. It would appear that the pngs are reloading when I scroll.
There is alot going on in this animation, I am going to sprite most of these pngs to reduce sever requests which may help, but im certain this isnt the root cause of this issue.
Has anyone come across this issue before?
Please link to the animation in question here.
    Any advice much appreciated. http://new.oliverrice.co.uk/oliverrice.co.uk.html

So I have created a sprite for the majority of the png's that form my symbols. This has reduced the total number of sever image requests from over 70 to 5. this has worked really well and feel adobe could add a feature that creates one sprite from all the images within the library. The animation seems to run a lot faster than before and loads much quicker.
I am however still experiencing the problem mentioned above in chrome 37.0.2062.120 m.
The animation also runs slowly on the I pad and I phone which I guess is down to memory usage? The animation wasnt intended for the iphone, but it would be nice to see it run on the ipad.

  • How to automatically remove the wiki page's images from the Images library , when a wiki page is deleted

I have noted the following strange behavior inside my Publishing enterprise wiki site collection. Now by default when I create a new wiki page and I add Pictures to it, the pictures will be saved under the “Images” library and will be inside a unique folder
that have its name similar to the page name.
But when users delete the picture from the wiki page or they delete the whole wiki page, then the related folder inside the “Images” library will not be removed. So can anyone advice if there is a way to automatically remove the page’s pictures
folder from the Images library when the page is deleted? as currently i might end up having many pictures inside the Images library which are not linked to a wiki page, and they will waste my server desk space...

I think, not sure, there's no out-of-the-box solution in SharePoint for this problem. So I can only think of custom solution:
In event Receiver, ItemDeleting, you can delete images. The only downside is if some other pages are referring the images..... you need to check somehow which is quite time-consuming operations if you have thousand of pages in wiki library
A timer job, that will run periodically, every day or week, and clean all unused images.
Hide the default delete button and add your own. And then using your own custom layout page, show a 'configuration dialog' to user if they want to delete both page and images.
    Thanks,
    Sohel Rana
    http://ranaictiu-technicalblog.blogspot.com
Please do not tell me this is not supported out of the ox ,,,,, i that i should handle this process by myself !!! and SharePoint does not support this feature .... this is another  problem i should include in my list .....

  • When searching Google Images with FireFox, the first page of images are visible in thumbnails but all subsequent pages are greyed out.

This happens every time on a Google search. Greyed-out thumbnails will show individually if double-clicked. Every page of images after page 1 experiences the same problem. Reload does not help.
Is this a Google problem or a Firefox problem?

Doc: I've had a similar experience, and here are the details, investigation, and a workaround. My printer is a Brother MFC-645CN, and I'm using Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on a 2010 iMac quad i5 connected to the printer over my ethernet LAN. Are you using a Brother printer?
Firefox has shown this kind of nasty issue for the past six months or so. It seems to be related to the imaging algorithms in Preview when dealing with Firefox (now at v.12) and the Brother printer -- the screwy second page (and beyond) show up skewed and up-sized when doing a print preview also. No such problem seen in Safari or anything else. I am not currently using any other Mozilla apps on this Mac besides Firefox.
A few months ago I tested printing from my administrator account and  a different user account. Firefox printing was completely normal and as expected. When I went back to my main user account, back came the funky second page.I went through extensive troubleshooting to try to chase it down, systematically removing and replacing apps and preferences and many other Library files related to printing, Brother drivers, Firefox, and Preview. Nothing helped. Solution was to migrate my user files to an account where the printing problem wasn't happening. I deleted the problem user account.
Everything was fine for about three weeks, and then with no warning, printing was back to the bad second page, just as before. I am stumped, and I'll let smarter people try to figure it out. I use Firefox a lot, and it's possible that some add-on setting is interfering, or a web page I visited turned the printing funky again. I just don't know.
Also checked on a Mac G4 running Leopard (10.5.8) and Firefox 3.6.28. No printing/preview problems there.
Now, for the work-around I am currently using -- print each page separately, one at a time. Page 1, then page 2, etc. Preview and printing looks completely normal. Hope this works for you until the bug is located and squashed for good.

  • One page displays as negative image when saving PDF to reduced size in Preview

    Imac Intel Mid 2007
    OS X 10.5.8
    Preview v4.2
I have a multi-page PDF I'm trying to save to a reduced size.
The document was constructed of separate pages, some of which were created as Photoshop PDFs in Photoshop CS4 and others were saved as PDF's from Word.  After moving over the individual PDF's to the side bar, the document saves fine in Preview at full size. When I use the quartz filter to "Save As"  "Reduced File Size" one page saves as a negative image and the others are all fine.
One suggestion I saw in a similar thread was that the mode in PS might be CMYK, however it is not and it is RGB.
Any help as to solving this would be greatly appreciated.

    JPEG is single-page.
If I print and choose 'pdf to jpeg'
    Elaborate, please.
Is there a way to save to pages out in one go to jpeg where I can adjust the dpi setting?
Yes. Build an Automator workflow using the PDFs > Render PDF Pages as Images action.
Once I have the reduced jpegs it's easy enough to reimport into preview and save as a pdf.
If the desired final output is multi-page PDF, no need to go through all that. You can do the task in Acrobat Pro (PDF Optimizer), or in Preview (Save as > PDF > Quartz Filter). If the current Reduce File Size filter doesn't provide satisfactory quality, use ColorSync Utility to duplicate it (or make a new filter from scratch) and adjust it to fit your needs.
