Weird 45 degree light light gray lines

i have buyed my new black macbook 7 days ago and there is a big problem on the display, it's all full of weird 45 degree light light gray lines, i saw other macbook too and they haven't this problem or the problem is sooooooo light, but on my macbook for example the white don't exist and there is only white with a grey pattern X|
monday my apple shop send my laptop at apple assistence and i hope that it come back with fix and not in equal mode. i readed on blog that much people have this problem, and sometimes apple change the macbook.
someone have the same issues?
thanks a lot for the reply and really sorry for my bad english

This is something that's worse on some Macbook screens than others. On mine, it's noticeable in the top half of the screen, less noticeable as you move down, only shows up on a plain white background, and it's not really bothersome. But it's not perfect.
My guess is that if Apple paid more for the screens, they could get a higher standard of quality. As it is, they get some variation, and would probably replace ones that are really bad and have really persistent owners.
In a way, it's just like bad pixels. Apple doesn't expicitly guarantee you won't have any bad pixels, and they'll resist replacing the screen or computer if it's only one or two.

I think this is an excellent indicator that not only is Palm reviewing the feedback from the support forums here, but actively reviewing feedback/comments/wishes on other sites as well.
As the original poster copied this (quite solid, IMO) wishlist from Pre Central, the palm support staff acknowledged first seeing it there.

  • Light gray line under thumbnails

Does anyone know what a light gray line under a page thumbnail means? I have a 12 page document and there is one under page 3 and under page 7. Could it be missing content? I'm beginning to think the file is corrupt; I try to export as a pdf and it hangs up on page 12 and never finishes.

  • Horizontal gray line across imac screen

Hello, wonder if anyone could help with this one...(sigh)...
This evening, quite suddenly, a gray (or black, depending on what's on the screen) vertical line has appeared across my imac screen, about a quarter of the way up from the bottom.  Above that are some are three, much lighter lines (more like subtle variations or blocks of colour running across the screen). These appear on all windows I open.  I took a screen shot using grab and the very definite gray line doesn't appear.  Can anyone give me suggestions of what's wrong and what I can do - I'm out of applecare warrenty now I'm afriad.  Is it repairable? or am I looking a buying a new machine, because these lines will drive me crazy.
    Thanks!

Excellent work, the Screen Grab grabs it from the Video card, so the prlem is after/outside of that.
Could be the Internal Video cable, or the LCD itself.

  • What are these gray lines on my screen?

I'm sure this has been asked numerous times, but I haven't been able to find a really good answer to what these are??
I took a photo of my startup screen (the lines only show really well on gray or dark gray backgrounds; white you can't really see them as clear). On the left, it's hard to see, but it looks like a hard-edged light-gray rectangle going down the monitor, and on the right is a large gray line/blob with a few tiny lines up above, towards the right of the screen.
They don't show up in screenshots, and I use the LCD Scrub screen saver, but that doesn't seem to help get rid of them. I don't know if it's dust, or pixels, or a burn-in on my screen...I'm confused on what it is officially known as, how it gets here, and how to fix/remove it without having to buy a new screen??
    Thanks for your help!

Could be a possible GPU issue, only way to tell for sure is to take it in for professional diagnostics.

  • Gray Lines

    Specs:
    AMD Quad-Core A8-6410 Processor + AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics
    15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView WLED-backlit Display (1366x768)

    Issue:
When certain shades of grey or areas where some sort of shading occurs, I see the grey area with small slightly darker grey lines between the lighter, thicker grey lines. Certain shades of grey show it and it appears to be similar to Image 1. Instead of the black lines, it would look like a slightly darker shade of grey that makes up the majority of the area. Is there some sort of solution to this? Another similar thing that occurs, also with a darker grey is that, it looks like if pixels were almost streaming diagonally. Image 2 is a small screen shot of a site where I first noticed the problem (it occurs on all sites, and movies). Does my laptop not have the ability to properly show shading?

  • I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green.

I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green. The computer froze with these pixels, so I shut it off and restarted it, and there were this green lines everywere. So I turned it off, and the next day I turned it on and it began to work just fine, but suddenly the same thing happened again, and when I restart the computer again there are these green and some red pixels everywere.
I've read 10.7.3 is giving people many problems, but I never saw that it gave one like this. How can I fix this, or what will Apple do to fix this problem they caused me with their update.
    Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • Gray lines (masks)

I'm getting frustrated with this issue.  My client shows me gray lines that I thought corresponded with mask lines in my frame.  I see the lines on his PC, but I can't see anything on my monitors, not in FCP, Quicktime, external monitors, and I've gone through the full range of adjusting contrasts.  I'll describe the signal path, in case it is relevant.  Before I do that, my observation of this shows the lines at the edge of the frame directly above the subject.  The brighter the subject (one is a doctor in a white smock) the brighter the gray.  Can cheap PC laptop displays (or any sort of display) generate a reflective horizontal gray line when the video levels aproach 100%?
This stuff was shot on a Cannon 7D, rotated 90º so the subjects are shot on a frame 1080x1920 on a green background.  There is actually a lot of overshoot.  They have been keyed over black through AE keylight.  In FCP, we rotated it back 90º and have framed it, frequently over black, sometimes with images beside it.  That means the top of the shooting (and masked layer) frame is always in the frame as the screen right border.  We don't see any gray line there, vertical.  After the entire show was completed, these scenes repeat and keep showing the problem.  I've been through numerous versions of masking or not masking the black area above the subject's head but his PC keeps showing a gray line above the image (and not in the black area to the sides).  After FCP, I first exported it as ProRes 422.  To ship it to him I converted the 1920x1080i to a 640x360 h.264 quicktime.  I've got 5 monitors here, Macs and PCs.  None of them can see the problem.  He's the client and keeps seeing the problem on his cheap PC, so its a catastrophic problem.  I'll attach samples of the 4 subjects in question if this works.

Dont know what camera was used, the footage was given to me. The dimensions of the footage is 720X486. Dont know if that helps.

  • My I pad screen is black and unresponsive. It has gray lines moving down it. How can i get it fixed?

My Ipad is not responding and the screen is black with the odd gray line moving down it. I have tried the reboot as suggested by others but there is no response. The screen is not damages as far as I can see. Is this fixable?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • IOS 7 iPad - Safari periodically displays horizontal gray line

Hi all, ever since upgrading to iOS 7, Safari on my iPad periodically displays a faint horizontal gray line when scrolling through some websites.  Has anyone else come across this?  The line only appears on some websites and goes away when scrolling stops.  I've seen this happen on an iPad 3rd generation, iPad Air, and iPad mini with Retina.  It appears to be the same graphic as the scroll bars in the OS, but there's no reason to scroll horizontally on these pages.
You can see the line about 2/3 of the way down the webpage here:

I'm on an ipad Air and have the same issue.
The problem I see is that this horizontal scroll bar displaying in the middle of a page is a bug.  This scroll bar should appear at the bottom of the screen where scroll bars live on all other browsers, not half way up the page.
The proof is in the Vertical scroll bar which is in the correct position, on the far right of the page.
BTW, both scroll bars appear only when necessary which is correct.
The issue we all share is the positioning of the horizontal bar.

  • REALLY Mysterious Gray Lines on Every Export (pictures)

I'm working on a video that contains a white background, and the client's background is also pure white. Every export I give him has a gray vertical line showing on the left and right borders of the video. We've narrowed down every possible cause, and it comes back to me.
Here's a picture blown up 1600% of the gray line:
I moved the video over a couple pixels:
It exists with every export that I do. .MOV, MPG2, etc. The gray bar won't go away. I tried scaling it up and re-rendering, but the gray bar still exists.
    Any ideas?
I'm also on CS4 (the forum there wouldn't let me post). I'd really appreciate any experience you can offer with this.

Everything was exported from AE as .AVI uncompressed, the sequence is 1080p, 29.97, and I've tried almost every export format, typically at 12Mbps.
I found out that the issue only exists on a 1080 export, but the same format in 720 (exact same settings besides size) does not have the gray lines. With other videos, the color (not pure white) distracts from these lines, but with a pure white background, the lines exist as like a half gradient on the left and right sides... but not the top and bottom.
I understand how crazy it sounds, but it exists with every single 1080 render I've done. Could this be a CS4 issue, and I should just upgrade?
    Thanks for your consideration.

  • Dreaded dotted gray lines - after rebuild

Recently copied my iPhoto Library to my external hard drive about 3 times, as I added a few more photos (was trying to finish out my 08 library and start a new one). After the 2nd time, I think, I started getting the dotted gray lines to appear for all of the older photos (that had existed for the first copy to the hard drive). The thumbnails are all still there, but when trying to edit or whatever, the dotted line box appears.
I tried a rebuild with no improvement. I also tried a rebuild through iPhoto Library Manager. It said something like xxxx photos could not be found, and to look at the console (?) or something, which I missed before I closed the window (oops). It could not find any of those older photos.
Are my photos toast? I am clinging to some hope based on the fact that the older thumbnails are still there.
    Please advise.

1- if you have multiple ocpies of your iPhoto library you first need to be sureyou are using the coorect one - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) key and use the select library option
2 - which version are you using - you posted in the iPhoto 6 forum but talk about iPhoto '08?

  • Emf file- gray lines

    Hi Everyone,
i have some graphics *.*emf files from Matlab. when i use graphic on MS Word there is no problem it looks like an orginalm forms but when i convert word file to Pdf with Adobe Pdr Writer, add some gray lines on my graphic (pictures are below). how i can solve this problem, Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
It is a mapping of Microsoft graphics primitives into a file.
we are using bitmap.save function of microsoft .net framework to save to a .emf format.
Since it uses  bitmap basically, the saved file may not contain vector graphics.
My question is whether Illustrator supports to import/open this type of files?
    Regards,
