Weird Anomaly. Any Ideas?

I was watching some you tube videos last night and a couple of times when i touched the headphone socket (I was listening with headphones on) the phone stopped playing the you tube audio and started playing a random track from my ipod selection.
It happened about 3 times, so I know I wasn't imagining it.

If your headphones made contact in such a way as to create a contact in the same way as the button on the headset, then it could pause or start music. Two clicks tells it to skip to the next song, and if you have the iPod portion set to shuffle the next song would be random.

Micro Battery flatlined TWICE...any ideas about w

here's the story. had a fully charged battery, listened for about 2 hours, had 3 bars when i turned it off, let it sit overnight, turned it on the next day...NO BARS! almost completely dead. ok, weird, so i recharged it. the next day, used it for about /2 hours, turned it off, next day TOTALLY DEAD. no bars, couldn't turn it on. it's now charging again. i've never had any problems with this micro before.
here are some of the specs
i'm using the BETA firmware 2..
listening to 28k mp3s at volume about 8, no backlight
normal operating temperatures (no extremes)
it's never done this sort of thing before and now it's done it TWICE in 2 days and i'm weirded out. any ideas?

This is more or less what happened to me two weeks ago. Had the Micro for a month without any problems, then the battery went to hell. I called Creative and they all but admitted that the battery power on these gets drained even when the unit is not in use. Here's the only solution .. what I've been doing is after I use the Micro, I remove the battery. I still carry my unit around in the little black pouch that came with it, but so if you remove the battery and just keep it in the pouch with the player, it's not a problem. Just slip it back in when you want to use it and your battery will be exactly where it was when you last used it.

Yesterday I extracted the subtitles of an MKV file to try and print them. Unfortunately, when I open the .srt file with any text processor, it displays weird characters like the ones included in the title:
"–û–±—ã–≤–∞—Ç–µ–ª–∏ –ø–µ—á–∞–ª—å–Ω—ã.
–í–µ—Ç–µ—Ä –ø—Ä–æ–¥–∏—Ä–∞–µ—Ç –¥–æ –∫–æ—Å—Ç–µ–π."
I thought this had to do with it being an .srt file, but just now I encountered the same problem with an Excel file.
Any ideas why this might be or suggestions as to how to solve it?

It looks like an encoding problem. You should try opening the file in a text editor where you can choose one of the various possible cyrillic encodings (utf-8, koi8-r, iso-8859-5, win-1251, MacCyrillic)

Well you can't use it. The iOS 7 Activation Lock is pretty secure and you can't bypass it.

The sound on my iphone no longer works, nor do the buttons at the side that turn sound on and off/volume control. But weirdly, you can play music without headphones. Tried restore and jack in and out. No luck... any ideas?

The sound on/off button onthe side of my iPhone no longer works, nor do the volume buttons. All sound has disappeared from the phone apart from the Music which still plays. Have tried th Restore and restart phone plus have plugged and unplugged phone jack. No luck - any idea anyone?

One thing that helped was getting a toothbrush and scrubbing the dock connector on the phone. I scrubbed the connector and used compressed air for about 1/2 hour till the connector looked much cleaner. An Apple employee told me that the pins on the phone had a little corrosion and sand. The problem hasn't gone away completely, but has been significantly reduced. I'm going to hold out until my contract expires after which time I'll switch to an iPhone5 (or newer) or Android phone.

An iframe element works weird in Firefox - any ideas why?

Sorry if this is not the right category, but I couldn't find one that seemed more appropriate. I have a question about the iframe element. My page includes it like this:
<iframe height="0" width="0" src="<some_URL>"></iframe>
within the <head> element. The purpose of this iframe is to peform some work in the background and this is legacy code - nothing that is being currently developed. When I show the page in Mozilla I see a dot in that iframe. When using IE I see nothing, which is expected.
Any ideas why Mozilla would show that dot? I'm using version 19.

Weird linking error - any ideas?

I have a working project and am trying to add an edit screen. After I get the code for the edit stuff in place - before it's even hooked up to the buttons - I get this error when linking, after the compile:

Well, hmm. I've gone over this several times with a fine-toothed comb and I am certain nothing is spelled wrong and the case is right.
As far as I can tell, I have the @class BlahBlah declaration in the right place and the right #Include stuff.
What else might be wrong, that I can look for?
It's a custom table cell, and if I feed the view a generic table cell it all works.

MacPro Making VERY Weird Noises, Anyone Have any ideas?

For the past few days I have been processing and editing a recent job. This weekend the MacPro began making some very irritating and strange noises.
Here is what happens;
I am sitting there editing when all of a sudden I hear one of the hard drives rev up, then it sounds like a small hammer is dropped onto a concrete surface and bounces twice, then I hear beep, beep from inside the MacPro.
A few minutes latter; drive rev up, ping ping like a hammer bounce, then two beeps.
This goes on and on every few minutes......it's friggen killing me.
Anyone have an any ideas? Maybe a hard drive dying? Thing is, I never heard this before this weekend.

Hard drives in the newer Macs are very quiet. Are you sure you are hearing a drive spin up and not a fan kicking in? It sounds to me the most likely culprit is a misbehaving fan. Make sure you have the latest SMC firmware installed on your Pro. Here is Apple's download site with info on the update:

Weird Log-Ins going on, any idea?

So at the office here we all are on Mac 10.4.10, and run an XServe server which is where out user accounts were created (in workgroup manager). The accounts were set up as mobile so that users could take a laptop home and log in and didnt have to be connected to a network. Now at the office people are unable to log in when connected to the network. If you connect to ethernet outside of the server network you can log in and then change the ethernet cable back so it is within the network and then access the shared folders ad server.
Also, any natively created account are able to log in either way, it is just the accounts that were created through workgroup manager. Nothing has changed in terms of updates or hardware changes to cause this, so I think it is something corrupt somewhere.
It seems as though the credentials are being checked with the server but not lining up, but when done outside the server is checks with an old file and is correct, or something to this effect.
ANY IDEAS?

Keyboard - my return key is behaving weird, it's become a '0' key. Any ideas out there to get it back to normal?

Everytime I hit return, my MBP is adding a 0. If I use shift, it adds a bracket ). No idea why this has happened, but it's **** annoying. Any ideas for a fix?

Quick one for you, basically whenever I create or save a NEW file to my OS hard drive (I have 4 internal drives) About every 10 seconds a blank .rtf file is created and put on my desktop, regardless of where I save file I had just saved, IE documents, music, whatever.
It looks like this...

Now, I can and have been deleting them, but it's getting annoying, it'll keep creating the files till my desktop is full up.
Any ideas?

The 'CV' is just the name of the file I just saved. If I created a document and called it 'apples' it'd create rtf files under that name to.

From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

"unable to open project" Any ideas how I might get it back?

I am not able to open a project i was working on this morning.
I have no idea why. They only thing I can think of is that after I finished
the project, I saved it to one folder in the drive.
Later, however, I changed my mind and decided to move the project to
a different folder. I got a message something about having to log in as administrator in order to be able to transfer the project from one folder to another, which I thought was weird.
So, now, when I tried to open the project from within FCP,
I get "unable to open project."
And I can't find the project anywhere in my computer.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
More importantly, can i bring back my project?
I checked the "Autovault folder, but it wasn't there either.

Look in the Scratch Disk Settings. Look to see where you're autosaves are kept, and see if there's one there... if you change the location of this folder, you end up with one for each location. So do look where they are currently set to save.
If you have none at all, why not? Did you turn off the autosave feature?

So Flash Player today decided it doesn't want to work with my webcam. I have pulled my hair out trying to figure out what the problem is. The camera works fine with other video camera software, such as Adobe Flash Live Encoder 3.1, for example, or the various Microsoft cam tools. But Flash Player just won't see it. When I visit a website that uses the camera through flash, all I get is a black box. I never get the privacy screen that asks me if I would like to allow the site temporary access to my camera.If i go into my settings, and go to the camera tab, it shows my camera device in the dropdown box. But you know how if you double-click the little box under the dropdown, it should activate your camera and display a little video inside that box? That doesn't work for me. All I get is this:
It doesn't matter if I use FF or IE. I've re-installed Flash Player, both the FF version and the Ax version. To no avail. I've logged into my computer as a different user, because hell maybe it's some weird dumb thing in the Flash Player cache or something. Nope.
Now here's the super, super, super annoying part: I just recently moved to this laptop and one of the things I was looking forward to was a computer where my webcam would FINALLY work with flash player again. Yes, that's right: my old computer had this exact same problem. And in both cases, at one point the camera worked with Flash player no problem, and then at some point, it just stopped working.
This makes me think, of course, that the problem is some nefarious piece of software I've installed, but I can't think of what that is. I know the camera was working with my new computer as early as last week. Recently I've installed a bunch of software, including Adobe Media Live Encoder 3.1, Flash Professional CS5, and the Adobe Connect add-in. I've uninstalled everything except CS5, because, hey, who wants to re-install that if they don't have to? I'll do that as a last result, but the guy sitting next to me has the entire CS5 suite installed and camera works fine for him with Flash Player (same exact hardware too), so I don't think it's that. Other than that, I dunno. I've got VS2008 and 2010 installed. GoToMeeting. Office. That's about it.
So. Any ideas? Any thoughts on how I could even start to debug the issue? Logging or something? Any help is much appreciated.

Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
Set
AVHardwareDisable=1
to:
AVHardwareDisable=0
Restart your browser. Done. Camera works now.
I really want to shout this solution from the rooftops, because try Googling the solution sometime. I did. I failed. You will too. Hopefully if I use some more 18-point bold font, Google will index it faster, because that's the way it works right?
I actually had no idea that Flash Player has a folder in Windows\system32 at all, and I definitely had no idea that this file existed. I am guessing some stinking app I installed decided I needed AVHardwareDisable set to 1 for some reason (effers). I found out about the location by just lazily searching through the windows registry for "Flash Player" and eventually saw it pointing to that directory. A little more poking around and I found this file.
Those of you who actively support this forum: please keep this in the back of your mind, next time someone has audio/video input problems with Flash Player. I've found an awful lot of forum posts from people with cameras not working, and I bet a good portion of them need this fix. Reinstalling Flash Player will not fix it. Here's hoping the solution comes up in Google for the next unlucky soul.

I was having this problem while still using Mavericks -- it started after a Mavericks update last spring. During the initial Yosemite beta runs over the summer, it seemed to be fixed, but after the official launch in October, I had all sorts of problems keeping connected. Its gotten a little better, but still happens to at least one of my devices every day. Weird that we still cannot figure out why the connection keeps dropping on some devices, but not others, and then the next day, one of the devices that didn't disconnect the previous day will disconnect, but the ones that did disconnect, stay connected. It's just sloppy, poorly written software for technology that isn't working the way it should. If you turn off Continuity and Handoff on all your devices, you will probably see that everything stays connected. With those turned off on all devices, TC stayed connected to everything for over a month. The day I turned Continuity back on, all the problems started again. It had something to do with the bluetooth version being used, the wifi routine, and Apple's AirPlay technology not quite getting along with each other.
