Weird artefacts!

Hi!
Please refer to the video. Some strange things happening with these large files. As you can see from the screen capture when I want to preview the file in the source window I can't, however when I drag the clip to the timeline it plays fine. Thanks!

Yeah. I thought that might have been the issue, but didn't know why it worked in the project panel and not the source panel. Here is a screen shot of my cpu specs. Looking forward to getting a PC to maximize Adobe's potential.

  • Weird artefacts, mobo(P35 Neo2-FR) or gfx card problem?

Recently I was playing a game when some weird artefacts appeared on the screen before just completely freezing up.
    I rebooted and saw this:
The desktop/login screen was all ****ed up too (pardon my French!)
I ran ATI Tool and saw my gfx was 40'c which was about normal considering I was just playing a game so don't think the gfx had overheated.
    Then suddenly the PC froze.
Rebooted and got the same problems so I left it for several hours just in case it was overheating. (unlikely though since I've got plenty of fans, all of which are working and no alarms went off etc)
Few hours later, same problems but I noticed my IDE cable wasn't in all the way so I pushed unplugged/plugged it in and it worked fine!
Fast forward through 4 days of normal usage (although no games)  with no problems to today.
Left the PC for a while before coming back and seeing the screensaver was all screwed up and the desktop was running at a lower resolution that it should have.
Shut down and restarted but nothing showed up on the monitor (LCD via a DVI->VGA adapter) not even the POST or BIOS messages.
Tried my TV which has DVI and an image was displayed:
Managed to login but again it was all ****ed up.
So at first I thought it was my graphics card but after it started working again I'm not so sure.
BTW, all the parts are only 2-3 months old and have worked flawlessly together since I built the PC.
I haven't been able to try any parts in any other PC's as I don't know anyone with a PCI-E mobo or even anyone with a PCI gfx card (only AGP and onboard!)
What do you guys think is the source of the problem?
    Mobo (P35 Neo2-FR)
    gfx card (PowerColor HD3850)
    RAM (2gb geil Black dragon)
    Thanks

It's been working fine for the last few days now, until today of course when I have an important report due in!!!

I would suggest that you run the system under stress test with graphics intensive games and see how it goes for a week.
    I have done this.
I've run ATI Tool artefact scan for over an hour and got no errors.
Yesterday I was playing STALKER for several hours on high settings on my 1680x1050 monitor/TV via DVI and the other monitor connected via VGA showing ATI Tools and CPU temps.
No problems at all after a few hours gaming.
(I recorded all temp data to a log and the maximum temp reached was 56'c)
Today I was working on a uni assignment so I only had Word, Firefox and Winamp open and some horizontal artefacts appeared.(nowhere near as bad as the above photos though, it was more like specs and dashes)
I opened up ATI Tool and saw the GPU temp was 35'c.
Before I could do anything it froze but the music continued playing. It stayed like this for a few seconds before going black and the music stopped.
So playing games at hi res for several hours did nothing, but having word and firefox open seemed to trigger something and start messing up.
After several restarts (kept crashing at first) I managed to get into Windows (with artefacts similar to the first photo) long enough to recover my assignment and shut down.

  • Weird artefacts on old macbook pro

    Hi folks,
I am looking for some experienced advice
I've got old macbook (Apple MacBook Pro "Core Duo" 2.16 17)
The owner told me he had battery problem and hard drive.
But lately I've noticed some strange artefacts on the screens as well
So I changed hard drives and though that perhaps software glitch.
However now it still shows these things(images attached) after couple minutes of being idle or even doesn't want to boot up now and shows this weird mesh..
Is the patient hopeless or I still can resurrect it?
    Will be appreciate any help
    Thank you in advance
    Regards,
    Alex

If you have a stuck DVD in the optical drive, try these steps:

Regarding the display, a trip to the Apple store genius bar is required.  There is no software solution.  It is either the GPU or a bad connection.

  • Weird artefacts in view window & QT

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this, or have experienced it. Since upgrading to Leopard, Final Cut occasionally displays some crazy artefacts in the viewer window, usually when pressing 'f' for match frame. I've also noticed it a couple of times when exporting from QT, the window displays nonsense. I've posted a link to a screen shot:
    http://www.alboardman.co.uk/image

I can just hear the narration now....
"When expecting heavy weather, it is advisable to pay special attention to securing the rain fly. I always use the super peg from Cotswolds Outfitters..."
I've never seen that other stuff, looks spooky. What happens when you trash the preferences? Any relief?

  • Problem with noise/artefacts in AE6 Ray Traced mode.

I'm having a problem with some kind or weird artefacts appearing on parts of an imported Illustrator layer. Here's the import procedure I'm using:
In AE6 I switch to Ray Traced 3D mode, then I make a new comp, add a camera, import my Illustrator file, drag it into the comp. Then I right-click on the Illustrator file in the comp and and select "create shapes from vector layer" then make the layer 3D. I can extrude etc. but for the sake of this post, I didn't do that. I get the artefact regardless.
Here's a cropped portion of my Illustrator file showing the problem:
    http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/74/linesc.jpg
Here's another screen-cap showing the problem from a different angle:
    http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/4757/lines2.jpg
The sample image is in full res and set to AE's "final quality" mode.
I've tried different setting for the render quality (the same image is set to 10), but it seem the higher the quality I set it to, the more obvious the artefacts become!
I've added no lighting or anything else to the scene, jut the camera and the AI file. I've also inspected the Illustrator file inside Illustrator and I cannot see anything at all that can be causing this problem. Is it perhaps an export setting problem in AI?
These lines only appear when I use the "create shapes from vector layer" option.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Could you please explain to me how to import the paths in the manner you describe? I'm not overly familiar with Illustrator, other than loading and saving artwork.
If it's any help, here is the Illustrator file as supplied to me: homepage.ntlworld.com/mike1962/cnet.ai
    Thanks,
    Mike.

  • Weird glitches after rendering

    Dear people,
I did recently huge (for me) step from PRE 3.0 to PRE 8.0 (I hadn't know, there were 9 Version). Anyway, I had in my first video some weird artefacts after rendering my video, and I don't know, how to fix them. (With 3.0 I hadn't such problems, even if I used it already ca. 3 years for many similiar projects).
You can see this glitch between 0:59-1:10 of my video in the upper right corner.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp40ZjZ_lQ8
I tried it with various configurations, but it had always just various glitches. The youtube video was directly uploaded from PRE, and its quality is much more better than the glitch-full videos I exported as files. Do I do something wrong?
To my PRE project: it contains a video and many animated text layers. In the PRE preview, before rendering, everything looks good, but the rendering disappoints me :-)
Actually I wanted submit my video to some art video galleries, but I cannot since it's still a little bit buggy.
I would highly appreciate any help!
    Thank you, people, in advance,
    Merzmensch

Well, perhaps this was one of some differences to my previous videos: I usually use my Sony camcorder, but this time I used my digicam Ricoh K8. The video to this camera is fully incompatible with PRE (even if it's an AVI - I worked with another cameras before, but only with Ricoh K8 I discover incompatibility to just every video cut software), so I converted it through VirtualDub (using also MSU Cartonizer for special effects). As far as I cam recall, I converted it with Helix YUV codec, which I often use, because PRE 3.0 hadn't compatibility problems before.
About settings of the project, which details do you need exactly? I actually used the default settings. Here I did the screenshots of every part of Project settings:
    http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee240/kosmopol/PRE%20settings%20Takahashi/
(Sorry, it's German version, I hope they haven't shuffled the settings) :-)
I have a feeling, that the problem is not with video footage, but with some PRE settings, since you can see in the glitch both levels: video and text together. Perhaps rendering failure?

  • Iphone 4 white... weird on the gallery.

    Hi guys,
I don't know if you see it, but there is a reel weird artefact on the front face on the Iphone 4 white (On the middle top), in the apple gallery page. You can see that the black one doesn't have it.
Any idea what it could be? I'm watching right now the keynote, but didn't hear yet anything about it.
    Cheers,

It is believed to be where the sensors are located. Since the white cover is now to the front of the phone as well, they needed to have a spot where the sensors could be unrestricted. This would show on the white, but won't show on the black, like they are now.

  • Multiple issues with new installation

I have several issues with my fresh installation of arch (just got myself a free old-as laptop , thus trying out arch for the first time as I usually run gentoo), and I'm not sure where these should go. I figure that I may as well lump them all at once while I'm at it.
The laptop model is a Toshiba Dynabook TX/430DX Japanese laptop similar to a Tecra A2 afaik.
    1. If I use stock ARCH kernel, when I load up x11 it seems to be using some wrong drivers or something. Tried with and without xorg.conf. The screen is all fuzzy etc. However, I compiled my own kernel (the Zen sources), took out a whole bunch of drivers I knew I wouldn't be using (etc. SATA/IDE/extra whatnot so that it would merely take 3 hours to compile the kernel), x11 works fine. HOWEVER with the zen sources, when I close x11 I can't exit to console. I get some sort of weird artefact from what happened to be on the screen, or it just goes black. It does actually seem to be in console as I can turn off the laptop with ctrl.alt.del and the capslock etc seems to work fine. I'm thinking of recompiling the zen sources with the stock arch kernel config when I have the time just to see what happens, but I'm not too sure it'd help.
The VGA device is an: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Intergrated Graphics Device (rev 02), using the intelfb module.
    2. In most consoles I've used, if you type in part of a command then press ctrl.up/down, it autocompletes with previous commands you've run matching what you've already entered. However, in my install it brings me to the very first command in my bash history. How do I make it autocomplete previous commands?
    3. When I use wvdial (I have a mobile modem), I get odd characters as shown in the screenshot posted.
I don't think it's a unicode issue, as ncmpcpp displays properly. This displays itself both in the console and in x11 (screenshot).
    4. If I'm using the stock kernel and I stop wvdial, I get a whole bunch of kernel error trace messages. After this, anything that goes to dmesg will be displayed to whatever terminal I'm on (but not actually echoed, it gets overwritten if I change screen etc). Wvdial is also prone to crashing, sometimes taking out the whole laptop. However, while using the zen kernel I do not suffer this issue at all.
Any help in helping me find the source of these issues would be greatly appreciated. They're not showstopping issues, but extremely irritating nonetheless.
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I created a zen kernel based on the arch stock kernel. Unsurprisingly, I still suffer from the x11 video issue. However, I don't have issues with number 4.

  • Is my GF4 dead?

    Hi,
I have a MSI GF4 ti4400, and I'm pretty sure that my carld would need to be replaced. For the last 2 days, weird artefacts appears in my monitor, mostly non continuous pink or green lines. Sometimes, with that comes the "blinking of my monitor", which loses contact with the card half a second, then come back for the same amount of time, for a few times, and there's nothing I can do. My computer locks a few seconds after that.
Putting my computer on the side (!) seems to help, but it's still not perfect.
I've double checked that everything is put correctly in their socket, and I've tried an old video card and the problem seem gone.
Any idea what I could try to fix the problem? The problem does not happen only in windows, so I do not suspect the drivers.
My dealer went bankrupt, so I really don't know what to do :(
Please help me... I'm desperate hehe.
    THanks,
    Mathieu

    Hey guys,
I am getting a very similar problem with my ti4200.
I randomly lose my display from time to time. screen goes black, monitor detects no image and goes in sleep mode. And this sometimes happen when i boot or reboot, wont even get pass the bios, like there is no vdo card. The card is only 3 months old. I tried it on another pc, and it does the same problems.
I tried pulling out the card and putting it back in in case there was a bad connection, but it didnt change anything.
And unlike Mathieu, heat shouldnt be a problem, I am not overclocking rigth now, got a case fan  not far from the card, and big volcano9 on my cpu
    Thanks

  • 105% speed video jumps frames on output

I am having problems outputting a clean video in Adobe Premiere. I have tried 3.0 and 7.1 versions of the software.
I have a sequence already compiled as MOV files. This sequence needs to be speeded up in my sequence, so I have it playing at 105% speed. I think this causes the jumpiness I see on output. You can see a test of the sequence here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ddurydnrrelv5gr/Sequence%2001.mp4?dl=0
As you can hopefully see, the video runs smoothly for a few frames, and then appears to jump - almost imperceptibly - a frame or two back before going on. This is continuous so it looks like forward forward back forward forward back the whole time. The effect is very slight, but it really bothers me.
I have tried with frame blending on and off and the effect is the same. Putting frame blending on also tends to create ghosting which I want to avoid.
I have tried a bunch of different export settings, but nothing seems to change the problem.

I have had zero luck fixing my problems.
With no frame blending I get this jumpy result.
With just frame blending in AP I get an annoying blur.
If I do the process in AE and use frame pixel blending I get these weird artefacts and glitches.
    How to solve this problem?

  • Best 720 format for Pal

    Hello there,
I have a project I'm preparing in DVCPRO HD 720 at 29.97 fps. I will need to convert this when finished to a 720 pal format, but just noticed the only other DVCPRO HD frame per second is 23.97! Can I just manually change it to 25 fps, or is there a setting in AE that is ideal?
    Thanks so much!
    - Fredo

Yes, for animation involving stills or footage generated by AE then all you
do is set the frame-rate for the output composition. For imported footage
that has it's own frame-rate that conflicts with the required output
    frame-rate then problems can arise.
I work in the UK at 1080p25 and I tried Andrew Kramer's technique (which is
a customised use of Timewarp) to convert some materials from 29.97 to 25p
but I had issues, some frames had weird artefacts where AE couldn't
interpret motion properly and these clearly showed up on play back. Tweaking
the Timewarp settings would probably have helped but I found it to be a
very, Very, V E R Y slow process rendering footage out like this and I
didn't have the time to experiment.
In the end I sent the material out to a facilities house for conversion to
25p and re-imported it. There was a cost involved in this and here I have to
confess that I work in-house for a TV production company so this was covered
by the production budget. However the results were flawless and the job was
turned around in a couple of hours.
I think, in terms of workflow, that since Fredo is working with footage that
is 29.97 and needs to output to 25fps then he should just work at the native
frame-rate of the footage, output at that frame-rate and then convert the
whole piece to 25fps. There is less risk of any mismatches and you can just
get on with the creative stuff. It's work once, output once then convert the
final output to whatever is needed for delivery.
If the footage is at multiple frame-rates then I'd suggest evaluating what
the native frame-rate for the majority of the footage is and work at that
frame-rate, convert the rest of the footage to that frame-rate using
whatever route suits your budget and schedule; output at that frame-rate and
then convert the output for delivery.
You could do the final conversion with AE using your technique as long as
time is not a problem. If it is then send it out to a facilities house,
where you also get the reassurance that it's being handled by professionals
who'll understand all the technical issues involved, but there is a cost!
The nightmare scenario would be no budget and no time and there'll be many,
many people here who'll have horror stories to tell about that one!

  • I have weird pixelly artefacts showing on my screen...

Can anyone tell me what is going on with my iMac?
I have weird pixelly artefacts showing on my screen.
The attached picture shows a particularly bad portion of a screen grab of this, taken in Safari whilst browsing a website.
The lines and blocks flicker like crazy. They're not moving around, and where they appear, they stay flickering in that spot – BUT if I move the browser window, then weirdly the flickering lines and blocks follow along with the window.
If I flip to a different application, then the flickering lines and blocks might move to a different location, or they might disappear altogether, or there might be more of them or there might be less of them. It's all very random.
Also, as you can see, for some reason I have lines appearing over a dark section where there is an image, and I have blocks appearing over a light section where there is no image.
It can be seen in any application, be it Safari, the Finder, Photoshop, anything...
Some days it's a little bit, some days it's a crazy amount. It usually disappears totally after a reboot, but then after restarting, the flickering lines and blocks gradually appear over time.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

  • Weird printing artefacts in LR3.3

    Hi,
I am trying to get some decent prints from LR3.3 but am getting some weird behavior with the color Orange. This not only happens in LR3.3 but also in Photoshop (CS3 to be exact). I have included some screenshots from Photoshop to demonstrate what happens (as LR is still lacking softproofing...). The first shot is the original picture from a couple of orange beads, the second shot shows what comes out of the printer with rendering intent 'perceptual' (but 'relative' gives similar results). The dark shapes you can see in the second shot are reflections from the objects in front of the beads, only much more emphasized than in the original where you really need to zoom in to see anything.
The odd thing is that if I take the picture from Ligthroom into Photoshop, convert to sRGB and then print, the artefacts do not show.
Anyone have a clue why this emphasis shows (and does not show when using sRGB)? I of course understand that the color is so intense/saturated that it probably does not fit in the printer's gamut, but I would expect some smoother result from 'percecptual' or 'relative' rendering.

I come across effects like this all the time. What happens is that if you
project the printer gamut in 3D in xyz space, a color in the original file
that is outside of this gamut gets mapped onto this surface in a straight
line. The same happens when you convert to the monitor profile for display
however to a different 3D volume of course. 2 colors that are not far from
each other in the original space (prophoto in this case) might end up in
wildly differing places when you first go to the printer profile than when
you go to the monitor profile because the shape (and therefore local slope
of the surface) of the two spaces in 3D is so different. Then when you
subsequently convert to the monitor profile (say when you are softproofing
for your printer) these differences can remain intact even though when you
directly go to the monitor profile (like what happens for display in
Lightroom) you get no difference in color.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weird graphical artefacts -- black squares

    Hi all,
I've got this weird graphics artefact that I sometimes see on my MBPro17. It's hard to describe, so I made a screenshot:
    http://jfouhy.googlepages.com/mac-graphics-bug.jpg
(ignore the slight fuzzyness; that's just jpeg compression)
In this case, the boxes are black, but they're often red, or sometimes other colours. It only happens when I'm getting the graphics card to do something "difficult", eg expose with 100+ windows, 3d application (particularly if the 3d app doesn't have focus).
Anyone seen this before, or know what to do?

    Yay artifacts rule
Through my experiences with artifacts I found out that it was a faulty graphics card. This was on a windows machine, so it could be a whole nother ball park with a Mac.
So maybe call Apple or go into an Apple Store and see what they can do fer ya
