Weird audio problem.

I have both my computer and my ipod hooked up to the same speakers using a (fairly high quality) splitter cable. Usually if i turn up my speakers full blast without audio playing there isnt any hum or buzzing. However, i noticed that when my ipod is plugged in to the speakers there is a buzzing sound if i turn up the speakers enough.
I tried various things to fix this problem, and nothing worked. I used one of those ferrite cores around the audio cable to reduce interference but it didnt work.
I noticed that the following things got rid of the buzzing:
-Having the nano plugged in both USB and audio, but removing the audio in from the PC
-OR unplugging the USB cord from the nano
It seems that by having my iPod plugged in through USB and audio and having my PC plugged in to the speakers gives this interference.
Does anyone know what this problem is? Has anyone had this problem? And does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Yeah, a ground loop is probably the cause of the buzzing. As the name suggests, this is when the ground lines are connected into a loop.
When you have this loop, the magnetic fields around you generate a current in the cables which will be heard as a humming or buzzing.
Your loop seems to be: Computer -> splitter -> iPod -> Computer
Cutting the loop (by disconnecting one of the cables) will remove the buzzing.
If you absolutely must have everything connected, you should be able to reduce the buzzing by reducing the area of the loop and twist the USB and audio cables around each other.

  • Weird audio problem during calls

I have a weird audio problem and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or could help...
My wife and I both have iPhone 5's and sometimes (not all the time) when she calls me (or I call her), it connects, but no matter which audio input I choose (phone, bluetooth, speaker, headphones), I cannot hear her, but she can hear me... I hang up, call back (and when I call, there is no dialing sound, nor any other phone sounds) and it's the same thing. Sometimes restarting the phone works, other times I have to restart it 3-4 times before it'll work again.  I try different things during these calls, like turning on/off bluetooth and/or wifi (pretty much anything I can think of that would make a difference), but nothing seems to help.
The (other) weird part is that after the last time of this happening, I tried calling my iPhone with my office phone and it worked fine, so then I immediately call my wife back with my iPhone and it was doing the same thing again. I called her back using my office phone and could talk to her fine...
This problem has been going on for a few months now and I have tried restoring the phone a couple times (and I am on the latest iOS) and sadly, that hasn't done anything to help... Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? I'd make an appointment for the problem, but since it doesn't do it all the time, I don't know what good it would do... But it is getting very frustrating!
    Thanks for any help!
    -Jason

Thanks for the response!  It happened again yesterday...  It seems to be happening more frequently in the past few weeks now.
I checked the link and have tried all of the things listed at one point or another over the past few months.  I did just check my Carrier settings and it said it had updated (it's on 14.1), but I am not sure when that happened (could have been today, could have been after my last restore last week, not sure).  I'll keep my fingers crossed that maybe that fixed it...
If it continues to act up, would you recommend that I bring the phone in to an Apple store or an AT&T store?  I bought the phone through Apple, but my carrier is AT&T (and if you suspect that the problem may be with the cellular conection), maybe the AT&T store would be the better choice?
I really wish the problem would be more consistant or go away, cause trying to get the problem solved is driving me crazy!

  • Weird audio problems with Motion when exporting quicktime videos

I have a Motion project with 2 video clips of people talking. When I create a RAM preview everything plays back fine. When I export a quicktime, the first second or so of each video clip (within the quicktime) have no audio. I've adjusted the in and out of each clip in Motion but I don't think that would make the audio disappear on export. Thinking it was just a bad export, I tried just exporting the audio and the same thing happens.
    Here's what i'm using:
    Mac Pro dual 3.0 Xeon
    10 gigs of RAM
    Motion 2.1.2

    hi,
motion 2 had some odd audio problems that surfaced now and then. The only way round it was to bring the clip into FCP and edit the audio in there, and then export from fcp.
Motion 3 might have fixed this. Not sure havent had the problem for some time, since I make sure all finnishing is done in FCP.
    hope this helps

  • Macbook Air weird audio problem?

    Hello all,
This is about an issue I have with my speakers, I realize there are alot of similar questions out there, but I have yet to find a solution, and since none of the cases I have read completely matched my situation I thought I might as well make a new post.
About a year ago my laptop (Macbook Air 2,1 late 2008) speakers suddenly gave out during a movie, I always assumed I blew my speakers because of the weird sound they made right before they died. Since then I have always used headphones or external speakers whenever I needed audio, but it does get a bit tedious at times..
Just recently I was browsing through my preferences when I noticed something odd. In the sound panel the output name was referred to as "Internal Speakers" but under output type it said "Headphone Port". Now, whenever I plug in my headphones or external speakers it says "Headphones" under output name and "Headphone Port" under type, which makes sense. But if it were just my speakers that are physically broken, shouldn't it still say "Built-In Output" under output type if the headphones are unplugged?
I was wondering/hoping that this might be some kind of software problem after all, and that it could still be fixed. Maybe somebody on the forums would be so kind as to give me their thoughts on this? Please note that I do not hear a chime on start up, I can adjust my volume just fine and there is no red light coming out my headphone port (I've had this issue before and was abe to solve it). I have already tried an NVRAM reset, but no luck..
Is there anything else I could try?
    Thanks,
    Genkakuzai

UPDATE: I performed an smc reset as well, the audio type change to "Built-in", but shouldn't it say "Built-in Out"?

  • Weird audio problem in Soundtrack

Ok, first of all, I'm sorry about my english, this is a tricky thing and I'm not sure of making myself clear. If I'm not please tell me and I try to mess it up a little more...
We film short movies without problem until now. We shoot the video (Sony Z1) via components through a BlackMagic Intensity Pro directly to FCP (1920x1080 ProRes HQ). And record the audio to the Edirol R-4. Then we sync with the clap and everything works just fine.
This last time, we did the exactly same thing, but the problem came when I'd finish the edition on FCP and did the "send to: Soundtrack Multitrack project".
Everything looked just fine but when I star to work with the audio, everytime I start or stop the playhead there was this click/pop sound (like the one on old vinyl records), but it's not just there, when I try to use the Ambient Noise tool like I always do, I made the selection of the ambient noise, set noise print, made the selection of the audio that I want get rid of, and then, reduce noise, the weird click/pop noise appears in the IN and OUT of the replaced audio!!
I did relaunch Soundtrack, re-send to, made OMF, XML, restart... everything!! but the noise is still there.
At first I thought of an incompatibility between FCP and SP but then I made some tests...
If I open a new project on Soundtrack and import the audio, still got the noise.
If I open those audios from differents hard drives I always get the noise.
If I open another old project (recorded in the same way) I don't have any noise.
If I import one of these audios to that project, I get the noise only when I'm on those audios!!!
So, the problem is in those audios!!
    What's with these the audios??!!!
All the audios I record are recorded in the same way, with the same propierties, they all look the same and sound the same (the sound is good, free of any kind of noise)
wav file, 16 bits, Mono, 48,000 kHz
    Anyone?? please!! any ideas??
    Thanks!
EDIT: Ok, I'd just reallized this isn't the right forum, it has to be in the Soundtrack Pro forum... can any admin move it, please? Thanks!

Do NOT use MP3 files in FCP. Convert the MP3 to match your FCP Sequence settings. Typically that would be AIFF format at 48khz, 16 bit.

  • HELP!! Weird Audio PROBLEM

Ok I tried going through the forum to find a solution to this. No Luck. I have added clips to my movie and changed the audio to 0%, then I added music to the clip. Everything works great when i preview in my edit screen, but when i export it as HD quicktime movie or any other size weird stuff happens. Randomly the audio from a clip that is at 0% plays. It even plays during stills. It fades in and out and its only like 5 seconds long, but it is noticeable. I cant find any clip that the audio is still on

Hmm, I tried it, and it seemed to be working momentarily, but it seems that it does occasionally grey out still .
On the plus side, the mute button at least works!
Thanks for your help so far dominic

  • Weird Audio problem since installing new SSD and Reinstalling the OS and Upgrading Ram

I have a really strange problem in Premiere ( well the same thing happens with he native files outside premiere too! )
Some of my .wav and .wma files sound corrupt. At first i thought it was a buggy project file.
Then i checked some other files from projects waiting to be done and they were the same, heart attack time.
So i copied the apparent bad file to my laptop and it plays fine!
Then when i check some audio files from finished projects on my PC they sound corrupt too! And obviously they were fine when i actually finished the projects.
I've tried it in Premiere CC2014 and CS5, but it's not the program i now know.
I Googled "Audio codecs Windows7" but all the options appear to be malware , has anyone any ideas? IS there a codec pack i could try?
    I'm running Win 7 Pro
    i7 960 @ 3.2
    24 gb ram
    Nvidia GTX 480
    Thanks,

    Got this sorted.

  • Weird Audio Problem in FCP

    Latest version of FCP.
I received a mp3 voice over from my voice talent and when I it in my sequence I would hear two distinct "pops" in the audio at two parts of the voice over. Every time I played the audio I would hear the pop at the same place.
I opened up the same file in Sound Booth because I wanted to see if I could visually see the pop and maybe remove but on the first playback I heard no pop at all. I then opened the same mp3 in Soundtrack Pro and I did not hear any pops at all there either.
Same mp3 file - in FCP pops and in Sound Booth or Soundtrack Pro none.
Any ideas as to what could be the cause / explanation?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Weird audio streaming problem

I am dynamicly loading in an external mp3 to use for audio
for a flash animation. I've done this several times (its a series).
On this most recent flash movie however, the audio is being loaded
in externally but instead of playing normally, it is sped up to
about twice the speed. This is making the person sound like a
    chipmunk.
I usually just copy the .fla from the last movie I worked
on, so all the code is the same. Any ideas on why it is doing this
to my audio? Its funny... but I don't think they want it that way.
    some code:
//The audio file to be played
    var playAudioFile:String = "Audio/walruspoem.mp3";
//Loads in a single audio file
    var loadAudio:Function = function(audioFile:String):Void{
//Determine the loader showing how far things have loaded
    var loader:MovieClip = audioLoader_mc;
    loader.loading_txt.text = "Loading Audio";

Thank you very much for your assistance.
The audio drops out at a new slide. I have done some
    additional investigating and found that:
    1. When I use the "Preview" function to review the project,
    there is no problem. However,
    2. When I use the "Publish" function, and publish the project
as a "Standalone" file with file type = Windows executable, and the
Zip files check box un-checked, the audio problem occurs.
    3. When I publish it with the same settings, but I ALSO check
the Zip files checkbox, I don't have the audio problem.
So it almost seems like it is a bug in the Publish function.
I am using a free trial version, but I have ordered and expect to
receive a paid-for version today. I will install that software and
see if the problem is still present.

  • Audio Problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion

Has anyone encountered audio problems with their iMac?  I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my i7 27" with 16GB of Ram and found that the Audio starts to get distorted and eventually cuts out after about an hour!  It starts cutting in and out when I move the mouse and eventually there will be no sound at all!
Sometimes it can take over an hour of steady use, my last time was watching a movie on Netflix.  I initially noticed this using a USB DAC Headphone Amp.
I never had any Audio problems before, my machine is over 1 year old.
I enjoy watching movies in iTunes and DVDs, but this is making it difficult!  A full restart usually fixes the problem for a time but it will eventually come back
I'm seriously thinking of going back to Lion for the time being and seeing if it is a Hardware problem.

i don't know if mine is the same issue, but i had no sound through any of my applications after upgrading to mountain lion.  here is what i had to do to fix it:
-- applications > utilities > audio midi setup > UNmute all options under "built-in output" (they were mysteriously muted)
Also, I noticed that the options for "use this device for sound output" and "play alerts & sound effects through this device" were no longer assigned to my Built-in Output device.  They were assigned to some other random sound driver.  To fix, i right-clicked on Built-in Output and reassigned those items to my built in speakers.  All fixed now!
    very weird problem, though.

  • Audio Problems in Adobe Presenter: Help Needed Urgently!!

I am using trial versions of Adobe Presenter 7 and Adobe Connect 8.
I created a presentation in in Powerpoint 2002 and published through Adobe Presenter to Adobe Connect Pro. This presentation has voice over recorded through the Adobe Presenter "record audio" option.
In Adobe Connect Pro, I created a meeting and shared the above mentioned presentation through the "Share Document" option in Connect Pro.
Now, when I play the presentation in this Adobe Connect Meeting, I am not getting any audio that was recorded in Adobe Presenter. Whereas if I play the published presentation directly it plays the recorded audio.
Can anyone help me on this?
    1. Are there any settings to be done in Powerpoint or Adobe Presenter or Connect pro?
    2. Is it the problem of Trial Account or something like that?
Please let me know the solution. Need to work on this ASAP!!!
    Thanks in Advance,
    Yogini

This is a weird one. If you created a prezo with audio and published it to AC (Adobe Connect) and everything worked fine on your desktop then it should work fine in AC i.e. there are no other settings required on AC's side, it should just play.
As I am typing this I thought of similar audio problems that we have experienced in the past. A big one would be where another user created a PPT on their laptops and handed it to us. When testing the audio did not work. Reason being is that not all the files were coppied over BUT I must accept that this is not your problem as it definately worked on your PC before you published it to AC.
Wait there is one setting in the publish settings. In the output options tick "Upload source presentation with assests", then tick audio.

  • MBA 13 Audio Problem

I'm having an unique audio problem with my MacBook Air 13 (2GB/128GB). Whenever I browse the web, my MBA's speakers make a loud zapping noise, and the audio goes totally dead. Volume control doesn't work, and it sometimes shows the crossed out speaker unavailable icon. iTunes and QuickTime play just fine with no problem. But whenever I'm browsing the web, it happens. I'm starting to guess it might be something to do with Flash player plug-in, since it seems to happen when the websites contain some Flash contents. The audio comes back after restarting, but it's just annoying and it hurts my ears when I'm using the headsets. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I'll try that software. I'm having problem with any website which has flash videos, flash animations, and flash app, like games and stuff. Weird thing is sometimes I can view those sites with no problem at all, then suddenly it zaps, and all the audio goes crazy. I may try to clean install the whole thing from the scratch and see how it goes. I appreciate the suggestions!

  • Audio problems with Adobe Presenter

    Hi
I recently had Adobe presenter installed on my windows XP machine.  Adobe presenter is set up to run through powerpoint 2003.
I recorded all of the audio as mp3 files straight onto my machine (although there were a few issues such as intermittent sound).  When I have accessed the quiz manager section to record some audio there, it crashed my machine and removed all of the audio from the whole presentation (luckily I had the audio files saved somewhere else!!).  I then went back into the presentation and tried re-importing all of the audio back in.  again, when I accessed the quiz manager the same thing happened again....
Has anyone else experienced the same problems?  I have spoken to Adobe and they said that it is down to the compatibiliy of Adobe Presenter/powerpoint and that I should find a workaround so was wondering if any one had any hints..
    Thanks
    Jessica

  • Weird Audio Issue

Hi! I've had my MacBook, and I love it. However, I plugged in some speakers and decided to jam on my Harman/Kardon home theater system. I plugged the MacBook into the receiver, and ALL distortion. The system was completely distorted. The same is said for any headphones I've also tested after this weird thing, and the internal speakers. The distortion is in the treble, like someone decided to turn the treble up way past the top of the equalizer! Thanks for helping...

The Aluminum macbooks have had some audio problems.
First, make sure the overall audio output is at half volume so as not to overdrive anything.
Is the Harmon/Kardon receiver have an analog stereo input, I assume that's what you plugged into... or was it a digital input?
Might want to check this thread out.

  • Weird internet problem / ssl connection error, site loads in safari not in firefox or other way around

I really can't figure out this problem. Search the internet tried all kinds of things, nothing help so far.
I have a Macbook Pro (Lion originally installed) running on Mavericks (all latest updates). SSD installed and the DVD tray is replaced by the original HDD.
The laptop wasn't running very smooth anymore so decided to give it a fresh Mavericks install (even though I know it's not really necessary for mac, it helped, everything is much faster except a weird internet problem came up).
After freshly installing Mavericks I couldn't get into my google account anymore, just wouldn't load. Tried Safari (use this normally) and Firefox and Chrome, this last was gave a SSL connection error, both Safari and FF said the website couldn't be loaded because the server didn't respond. For Gmail I use Mailplane which is just stuck on a white page. I tried repairing the keychain, repaired disk and disk permissions, cleaned browsers, turned off firewall and antivirus (Shopos) started in safe mode, checked time settings which were all good. Nothing of this helped. I even ended up creating a usb bootdisk for Mavericks, formatted the disk and reinstalled from the start just Mavericks and nothing else, started Safari, still the same problem. As even this didn't help I figured it's not worth reinstalling all software so put back my backup.
Now I ended up somehow only being able to use Gmail normally in Firefox, Chrome still gives SSL error and Safari can load the inbox, but I can't open any messages. I get the error there is a problem with the connection. If I try in Basic HTML mode it surprisingly does work.
You would say, just use Firefox, finished...but the thing is that sometimes random websites won't load in Firefox, when I load the same site in Safari it works perfectly.
O yes, I also tried the connect to my iPhone and use the Cellular data network, then it's no problem using Gmail in Safari normally. You would say it's a router problem, but I have another Macbook Pro (just one model later running Mountain Lion) this one works perfectly with every browser. Also my iPhone does everyting logged into the WiFi network.
You can understand I really have no clue what's going on here, I don't see any logic. I can only think of a hardware problem in my Macbook, but don't see how that could cause these problems.
I hope someone is ably to help me ?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
