Weird Battery informations

Hi,
Without any sort of previous symptoms, my battery indicates me bad informations (it began 2 days ago) : Please find below a copy/paste of the status of my battery :
Informations sur le modèle :
Nº de série : Sony-ASMB012-3702-ecba
Fabricant : Sony
Nom de l’appareil : : ASMB012
Pack Lot Code : 0003
PCB Lot Code : 0000
Version du programme interne : 102a
Révision du matériel : 0500
Révision de pile : 0303
Informations sur la charge :
Charge restante (mAh) : 65336
Charge complète : Oui
En cours de chargement : Non
Capacité de charge complète (mAh) : 65336
Informations sur la santé :
Comptage de cycles : 431
Conditions : Bonne
Batterie installée : Oui
Intensité de courant (mA) : -1227
Tension (mV) : 11598
As you can see, my battery is always "fully charged" ... When I plug the macsafe, I'm not able to reload my battery (because it still indicates that there is no need to be charged). If I'm waiting for my computer to shut down (because of low batt), I'm able to reload it (with some difficulties because of bad informations).
My battery has no particular problem, except for these bad informations.
Is there anybody who shares such a problem, it there any way to "reset" my battery (I tried to reset the SMC, with no result) ...

This is usually a sign of a bad battery - Capacité de charge complète (full charge capacity) should be 5000-5500 mAh for your machine, not 65336 mAh. Your Comptage de cycles (cycle count) is 431 - most Li-based batteries last 400-500 charge cycles. You will most likely need to purchase a replacement battery (Apple will not cover it under warranty/AppleCare with >300 cycles).

  • MacBook Pro (2007) weird battery information

Hi everyone! Really hoping that someone can help me. I have been unable to use my MacBook without the charger for almost 2 years now but never have done anything about it until now. It's disturbing not to be able to use the MacBook without the charger, but if it's not connected, the computer shuts off in one second into some sort of sleeping modus. You can't wake it up until you put the charger back on. I looked up the information about my batteri and I assume that something is wrong. The full capacity of a batteri like this should be around 5000-6000 mAh, as I understood, I have 259! Wow! And it says that I only charged the battery 27 times since I got the MacBook in 2007 ... hmmm ... I tried to download the Battery 1.3 programme but all my computer says is that I don't need any update although I'm pretty sure that I don't even have the programme. Is there anyone who can tell me what the problem is? The computer says that the battery is charging, but it doesn't work without the charger put in. And isn't 259 mAh full capacity a little low? Please, someone?

Well ... Seems that you're right, a new battery needs to be bought Just wondering how it could become that bad in only a year ... well, again, it's like you said, maybe it has been broken all along ...
    Thanks for your help!

  • X41 Weird Battery state

    Hi,
I have an X41, running XP. The battery status on this is weird. Here's what's happening:
The battery apparently has no charge - without the AC plugged in, the machine does not boot. When AC is removed when the machine is 'ON', it turns off. So far consistent with a dead battery.
Next, when I do turn the machine on with the battery in the slot, the machine boots. The Power Manager guage shows a constant charge of 42%. It neither increases, nor decreases. The baloon when the mouse points to this guage says:
    (42%) remaining
Then, I fire up the Power Manager, and go to the 'Battery Information' tab.
    Again, it shows:
    Remaining Battery: 42%
    Batteries installed: 1-main battery
Condition: Good (with a green battery)
The battery is in good condition.
At this point, I'm totally confused. I have checked the battery contacts, and the slot itself. All seem OK. I dont know what to believe. Do I have a dead battery? Or does it somehow have  a disconnect internally?
Thanks for looking, and thanks in advance for responses.

i reinstalled lenovo's battery utility and opened it up to battery.  i ran the reset which is supposed to charge to 100 then discharge to 0 then charge to 100.  well it discharged just fine but wouldn't charge from 0.  so i put the battery in an x40 and charged it to 93. i have the utility set to charge at 96.  it said it was charging but the percentage remained the same.  i then put the battery back in the x40 and charged it to 100.  put it back in the x41 and ran the utility until it discharged to 90.  then i turned off the utility and turned it back on and it said it was charging but it wasn't.  i then called the co. that i got it from and me an tech support determined that the charging system on the board was bad.  there are no resets, no fuses to change the only thing i can do is change the motherboard so we agreed to exchange it for an x40 which they had.  i guess i'll go back to the old tried and true x40.   the funny thing about this whole thing is the green light indicator showed a battery, the utility showed a battery, it showed the voltage of the battery, the voltage of the charging system, the only thing that didn't show on the utility was the  time it was to take to charge it up to 100.

  • In system information, battery information for 17in m.b.p

in system information, battery information for 17in m.b.p what should the readings be for a new battery, anyone, thanks peter

If you want reliability and a battery that has a warranty, have Apple install it for you and pay the price.  If you want uncertainty and the possibility of a battery life of a month, a week or less, purchase a third party battery.
To date I have yet to see with certitude a genuine Apple replacement battery offered to the public.  I have seen many tales of woe of users who have purchased third party batteries and have regretted the decision.  Often in the long run, these purchases cost more than an Apple battery.  Search these forums and my view will be substantiated.
    Your choice.
    Ciao.

  • Tecra Battery Information Tool - Cycles and Production Date

    Hi everybody,
I am searching for a Battery Tool, which reads out the whole Battery information. Aspecially the Production Date, First used Date and charging cycles. Is there a tool available by Toshiba or another Freeware tool? Is there another possibility to read that information?
Generally, does the Toshiba Battery capture this information? I only know the possibility to watch all this information from IBM, they use the BatteryMaximiser, which shows all the info. I have been searching the web but did not find anything. Please help.
    best regards
    Matty

    Hi,
I need the information for an exact classification of the Battery. You do not get enough information about the Battery condition in the normal Power Management or in the Power Saver. There are tools which show the original and the available Battery capacity, but it is not possible to say anything about the remaining lifetime of the Battyery. So the information is quite important for me.
    best regards

It is not easy to find such service in apple.com in case of macbook air battery.
    Thanks for your reply.

That page supports for (as it mentioned below)
iPhone, iPad, Mice and Trackpad, iSight, Portable Computers, AirPort, iPod, Displays, Xserve, Desktop Computers, Keyboards, Apple TV
NOT FOR THE BATTERY EMBEDDED IN MACBOOK AIR!! :<
(And the length of serial number of battery is longer than above HW products)
Thanks for your answer, by the way.

I wonder if the "genuine Macbook battery replacement I bought" is genuine and if it is new?

It is an "original Apple Battery" A1185, sold as genuine and new.
    (Genuine Battery Apple A1185 A1181 MA561 MA566 13" White). I am currently charging it...
Capacity is stated to be 97% (4901 mAh vs the design capacity 5020 mAh). I am not complaining since it only cost 38 € vs. the 120 € from apple shop. Just wondering if it is really an original or a very very good imitation. It has all stickers and numbers and looks identical to my old one which decided to swell to double size...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Macbook air battery information wrong

    Hello,
I have a few questions. when I go to system report my battery information is wrong, when it is 100% charged it is said  Fully Charged: No. So I was wondering how can I fix this problem. Also is it alright to keep your early 2014 macbook air plugged in all the time? Like if it is fully charged can you still keep it on charge?
    Thank you.

You can keep it plugged in after it reaches 100% charged but you shouldn't keep it plugged in 24 hours a day 7 days a week all month long. The battery should be used occasionally. The recommendation used to be to use it at least one cycle per month without deeply discharging. That could be down to 50% twice or down to 50% once and 25% twice or any combination that added up to roughly 100% usage or more per month.

  • I cannot use battery information when i upgrade kernel

Today I performed Pacman _Syu. I upgraded my arch linux kernel to 3.0.6-1.
I rebooted my arch system. After that, my arch system  printed the error.
"Battery information not supported by your kernel!"
I try downgrading kernel to 3.0.4-2 and was able to use battery information again.
What is solution of not available latest kernel in my system?
My PC is ACER ASPIRE 1410.

The reason for the error message is probably the ONFIG_ACPI_PROCFS_POWER option, that was removed from the newest kernel. See FS#25845.
What application is giving you this error? Perhaps there is an update available for it?
Otherwise you could recompile the kernel yourself with the option set.

  • Battery information is worrying

i'm new to the forums but i did look at a couple of the older posts. Some people have problems with their batteries and i decided to check mine in the system profiler. I don't exactly know how to interpret it but it says check battery. i don't know if its because of using it a certain number of times or what. any help would be appreciated. I bought it on eBay from a guy who bought it back in May this year (2008) any help would be appreciated. i also made sure that i had the latest battery update (1.3 i believe) and i do.

Does the battery charge OK? Do you occasionally calibrate the battery? When fully charged what is reported for "Charge remaining?"
Normally, Apple guarantees that the battery will retain at least 80% of its original full charge capacity by 300 cycles. Your battery seems to have less than 80% after only 184 cycles suggesting that indeed the battery may be defective. You can call AppleCare or visit your Apple retailer to see if you qualify for a battery replacement.

  • Understanding "Battery Information" - Help Please

Have 17" G4PB, PPC, 1.5GHz, 1.5G Memory, 80G HD, OSX 10.5.8. Here is my "Battery Information"
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2816
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 2816
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 388
    Condition: Good
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12503
How the heck did I get 388 cycle counts?! And does the 2816 for both "remaining" and "full charge capacity" mean I'm out of juice? This battery is about 1-1/2 years old. Any assistance appreciated.

    Happy thanksgiving!
The concept of "cycles" is covered in this Apple tech article:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
The bit about "charge remaining" and "full charge capacity" can be understood in the context of a metal drinking cup (fill with your favorite virtual libation, of course):
When new, the cup hold 12 ounces. Therefore its charge remaining and full charge capacity are roughly the same--12 ounces. If you drink four ounces, the "charge remaining" is 8 oz but the full capacity is still 12.
Let's say that, after the can is used and bumped around for a few months, it picks up a big dent that intrudes into the interior, reducing how much beer liquid it can hold by two ounces. The "full charge capacity" is now down to 10 ounces or 83 percent of its original capacity. When people talk about battery "health," it's this. Health is current full charge capacity divided by a baseline number, about 5400 for the 17" PowerBook. Your health is therefore 52 percent.
"Percent charge" in the power icon is how much the present capacity (not original) is currently used. In the bent cup example. even though use reduced the capacity to ten ounces, you can put 10 ounces in it. It's 100 percent full in its present, reduced-volume condition.
System profiler does not calculate "health" for you and does not give the baseline value. There are a couple of freeware utilities that read the machine type and use the correct baseline to show health as a percentage of the original capacity:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
    http://coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/index.html
If I've substituted mud for understanding, please post back and I'll try again.
