Weird black lines

i had my whole logicboard replaced because there were weird things happening like my whole safari page looking messed up, the menu sometimes being all over and weird, black lines in the left side corner.
2 days ago (a week after replacement) i had one problem where everything was messed up and when clicking anything on the dock it logged you out!?
restarting it seemed to fix this. but the black lines in the corner came back today and i realized it happens after a growl notification pops up. when it fades away it sometimes leaves lines.
is this the OS? or is this growl? or is this something i should bring my computer in for again?

Hello S:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
i think the cause could have been a finder add-on i used for a while (totalfinder), since it was an alpha build.
Almost assuredly (I will not give a lecture on Alpha or Beta software). Did you uninstall it somehow?
In any event, you have a couple of options.
Easiest first - trash a couple of preference files (com.apple.dock.plist and com.apple.finder.plist) and restart.
If that does not work, I would restore (hopefully you have one) the system to a point before you added the Alpha software.

    Software:  OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
    Hey everyone,
Whenever I open different apps, (Word, Preview, Reminders, etc.) or when I hover over apps to select them, I get these weird black lines that outline the window. I have reset the PRAM before and it fixed it temporarily, but then it returned. If I go to "displays" and switch from 1440 x 900 to 1344 x 840, and then switch it back, it gets rid of the black lines. Any ideas?? I've included a photo of what it looks like. As you can see, the black lines on the left of the window is what I am talking about. Any ideas or information will be greatly appreciated. EDIT: This did not occur until after I had upgraded to Mavericks when it came out.

  • Weird black lines on tablet when items are pinned

    Hi.
I'm getting weird black outlines on tablet which appears to happen when I pin an item.
    Looks fine on desktop.
Any thoughts? Top is desktop below is the tablet.

    Hi.
    Thanks guys.
First thing I checked for was strokes. None applied. I copied the item on to a white part of the page and switched off the pin and the black lines disappear.
Here's the url – it's the top menu where its happening :-

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

The little black line happens right under the first h4

  • Black lines around fields I tab to incl. button, p-d menus

Something weird is going on with my computer: there's a black square around the active field in every app on my PowerBook. For example, if I open a new window in Mail, there's a black line around the New Message icon (the upper-left-most icon in my toolbar configuration). When I start typing in the address field, the black line moves to that field. If I hit Tab, the black line goes to "cc:" then "subject" then the "add bcc..." pulldown menu, then the "account" and finally "signature" pulldown menus, before going to the message window. It's basically the same thing in every app-- an ugly square of thick black lines around every active field in the app I'm working in. I poked around Universal Access in System Prefs & nothing helped. I think my daughter was playing with the computer & did something to it but she's only a year old so I can't ask her! Please help me get rid of this thing! Thanks

    Hi There
Have you tried System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing > Voiceover:(Check) and click 'off'.

  • Black lines on my iPads edges

Hello, I purchased an iPad 2, 16GB, white, last night at Walmart.
I'm starting to see a black line around the bottom left edge of the iPad and it appears to be dirt, as if there is a gap opening between the bezel and the aluminum back of the device. I'm not sure what could have caused this, but it irks me.
Should I just take the device back for a black one so it will be less noticeable of what?

Thanks - I turned it off last night and kept it off all day and the lines were still there so I reset the PRAM and unfortunately it made it worse. I can hardly see a thing now. The grey screen and blue screen are perfect when I boot up but the second the login box appears it goes weird. When I move the mouse now it leaves black dots/lines where the mouse has been so after a few minutes of moving it around the desktop it's hard to see anything. Not to worry though as I have managed to locate the back-up option in iTunes and am currently backing up my precious music before it totally gives up before I have the chance

  • Black lines on my iMac G5

Hi - I have a problem with my iMac G5 (PPC). There are black lines and dots around most things (see screenshot). I have restarted the computer and turned it off - unplugged it, etc, hoping it would do something but these lines appear over icons, the mouse cursor, the dock and some applications are impossible to use such as iWeb and iPhoto as the lines obstruct 90% of it. Other applications like iTunes and Safari are fine.
Has anyone had this problem? What can I do to resolve it? Thanks!

  • Random black lines

i did an upgrade to leopard and i've been having some strange screen issues on my 24". there will be random black horizontal lines across the application i'm running, it has happened with most apps and sometimes i'd get all kinds of crazy lines around a dialog box, i donn know how to describe it, but the lines will move with my apps. for example, if i waz browsing the net a couple of hair thin lines would appear in the browswer, if i move the window, the lines will move with it; sometimes if i move the line out of sight off screen, the line(s) will go away temporarily, this also goes true with the lines that appear around dialog boxes.
i thought it waz an updrade problem so i backed my files onto an external and wiped the the mac clean and did a clean install of leopard to see if that would fix the problem, but sadly the problem persists even after a clean install.
anyone else having this issue? or is it just a coincidence that my old 24" imac display or gpu is wanting to crap out the same time i try to put leopard on it?
i've searched for "black lines" and "display issues" but all i get are blue-screen topics, which btw i have not experienced.

Weird as it sounds, you might wanna try taking out your video card, and blowing the dust off it with a can of compressed air, especially if you have a video card with a fan built into it, and air intakes.
I had a problem that sounds like this that kept getting worse and worse, until my computer started locking up all the time. Turns out that the problem was entirely due to my video card overheating.
The problem got much worse under Leopard due to the extra work it requires of the video card. Once I cleaned it, the computer has been running fine.
Here's my original post with pictures. If your problem looks like the pics I took, you might wanna try cleaning your vid card. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5681200#5681200

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus - vertical black lines only when autofeed

I have multiple black lines (darkest about 3 inches from left) when I autofeed a print document. When I feed a clean sheet, I get the single dark line. There are no lines if I copy using the top glass,  I followed the HP autofeed cleaning instructions TWICE. The white rollers were clean and only slight black smudge on the black rollers. I am certain this has happened to others...Oh yes, my HP warranty expired in late March (Costco may cover it if this is not a simple fix).
I would appreciate any assistance, as this has been a great printer.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 black line incorrectly being displayed

In an existing SSRS 2008 r2 report, I just added a page header so that I can display global values in the page header like run date, run time, and page number. Within the report header, I placed all the report header data within a rectangle. Now when I run
the report, there is a black line appearing after the report header but before the details of the report.
I have changed all the border colors to be white and the borderstyle to none. The black solid line between last part of report header to before the detail data keeps appearing.
Thus can you tell me how to keep this black line from end of pageheader or rectangle to before the detail data from appearing?

    Hi wendy,
According to your description, I taken a simple test in my local environment (SSRS 2008R2). In my scenario, I insert a page header in the report, then use a rectangle to contain all the items (such as global values) within the page header after creating
a table in the report body. While everything goes well, and there is no such a black line between page header and report body.
As per my understanding, may be you have set the BorderColor property to Black and BorderStyle to Solid of Page header or Rectangle or Report Body. So we can double check those item properties in the report.
If this issue still exists, could you please post the .rdl file and your dataset with sample datato us by the following E-mail address?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • How to remove the black line from a stacked canvas at run time???

    Hi All,
I've developed a stacked canvas within a content canvas, when I run the form the stacked canvas apeared with a black line takes it.
How to remove this line or how to disappear this line at run time??
I tried to do this by putting (no line) in tools palette to the line color tool after selecting the black line one and after selecting the stacked canvas another once, but this did not resolve the problem!
    I need something else:
I put the stacked canvas at detail data block and it didn't appear since I execute query in master data block
How to appear the stacked canvas directly before executing query in master data block???

    Hi,
u mean the border line? In stacked canvas property, select contour/outline and set it to none.
Make sure, the stacked canvas is behind the content canvas in the objectnavigator. Then check your
    properties of the stacked canvas:
    - Position on content canvas
    - size
    - size of clipping
Set stacked canvas property automatic visible to yes.
Make sure the stacked canvas is not overlayed by other stacked canvas or items.

  • HP Laserjet Pro MFP M12fn, printing a solid black line on every paper

I'm running windows 7 professional. I haven't received any error messages and nothing out of the oridarny has happened. My printer/scanner/fax/copy (My HP Laserjet Pro MFP M12fn, product # CZ181A) is printing with a black line down the entire paper, but its only doing it thru the feeder and not on the glass. HELP, How can I fix this?

Welcome to the HP Forums angelinaOO7,
I read your post, which indicates that you are getting a black line down the page when using the feeder. You can print fine from the glass. I can help you with this.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Clean the scanning glass and platen.
    Turn the printer off.
Disconnect the power cord from the product and the wall outlet.
    Open the scanner lid.
Clean the following scanner areas with a soft cloth or sponge that has been moistened with nonabrasive glass cleaner.
    Main scanner glass.
Small scanner glass to the left of the main scanner glass.
    White plastic backing.
Dry the glass and white plastic backing with a chamois or a cellulose sponge to prevent spotting.
Plug the power cord into the product and the wall outlet.
    Turn the printer on.
    Try to make another copy.
If you are still having issues, then update the printer's firmware.
