Weird Bridge File Name

Used Get Photos to load 700+ photos (mostly jpgs, some nefs). Noticed two files had _JTMP names such as DSC_2211_JTMPf0c3.JPG and DSC_2545_JTMP417b.JPG. They should be just DSC_2211.JPG and DSC_2545.JPG (2545 also has an associated nef). Why the additional characters? Basically, I was just reviewing photos and noticed these two weird file names.

There's one possibility that just occurred to me: the Finder keeps a list of things under Preferences. Might deleting that preferences file for the finder: com.apple.finder.plist do the trick?

  • Bridge File Names Missing

    Bridge (CS5) is missing many of the file names to many folders. Oddly, it's only some of them. And there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why some would have names, while others don't.  Secondly, for those file folders without names, there's no way to rename the file folders.  When I right click to rename the folder, there's no option for rename.  I can create a new folder but can't name it.  Thirdly, the folders that do have names are encased in a black tag, which I don't like.
    I've tried the usal rememdies, i.e., turning my computer (I use Windows 7) down and changing from my custom bridge worksace to essentials to filmstrip.  Nothing helps.
    Any ideas on how this can be resolved?  Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

    Purge Cache, see if that will help.
    You will find the option under Tools.
    There is a seperate forum just for the Bridge:

  • Odd, weird, strange file names on hard drive

    For the last several months, I have had odd file names showing up on my hard drive. I click on the file to open it and "text edit" opens to a blank page. I delete these files but within a few days they are back again. Does anyone know where these are coming from and how to make them stop appearing?
    Examples of the names are: %90, %90%E0%FF%BF7', %A0%E0%FF%BF7', and p%E0%FF%BF7', they all say "zero KB" under size, and "plain text" under kind.
    I attempted to post a pic of my HD below but am not sure if it will work.
    Thanks,

    Now, type a space after the @ sign, and drag one of the files in from Finder into the Terminal. Press enter, and paste the results of the command up here.

  • In mini bridge, is it possible to view the file name and the rating at the same time?

    Hello,
    In mini bridge, is it possible to view the file name and the rating at the same time?
    Thank you.

    if you know when a new image arrives and you can retrieve that new image file name ...
    Well, that's precisely my doubt, how can I know the file name? Is there a property/method for it?
    function loadImages() {
    for (var i:int=0; i<imagesNames.length; i++) {
    var imgLoader:Loader=new Loader;
    imgLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,imgLoaded);
    imgLoader.load(new URLRequest(imgPath + imagesNames[i]));
    function imgLoaded(par:Event):void {
    trace(par.target,par.target.content,par.target.content.name);

  • How can I make Sort by File Name the default in Adobe Bridge CS5?

    The only online support I have found so far avoids the specific question. Must I assume that Sort by File Name cannot be made the default - and will revert to Manual each time I close Bridge?

    If you have "start bridge at login checked" your changes will not keep unless you close program by clicking on File then Exit.  Just closing window does not exit program.
    Option is in advanced preferences.

    yes/no.  Depends on whether you have checked "preserve original file name in XMP" in batch rename.

  • Bridge CS5.1 – Disappearing File Names (Now You Don't See It All)

    Bridge CS5.1. Lion 10.7.2. 27" iMac native display at native resolution.
    For some reason, in Lion (but not Snow Leopard) Bridge cuts-off the bottom line of long file names (see the screenshot). Irritating. Difficult if I'm trying to distinguish between ‘Long File Name (1)’ and ‘Long File Name (2)’ where the (1) and the (2) have partly disappeared off the bottom, hidden under the bottom scroll-bar.
    It seems to be something to do with the window resizing as Bridge, whilst not adapting the size of the thumbnails to fit the window size, produces a scroll-bar instead (see bottom right hand corner of screenshot). This doesn't happen in Snow Leopard.
    I've tried fiddling with all the parameters which could effect Bridge's window display, but to no avail.
    You can add this to the the other display problem with Adobe Camera Raw (see previous postings). Nice if Adobe could fix this too.
    Sorry, this screenshot is hopelessly and incomprehensibly small owing to Adobe’s image size upload restrictions – so you’ll have to trust me on the disappearing file names and the scroll-bar.

    Well, gentleman (gentleman, I assume) your answers are of no real help to me unless you have Lion to test this on.  There is no relevant comparison to make since I have already established that this works correctly in Snow Leopard.
    Yes, it is a man, I leave the qualification Gentle to you
    I was more curious to the solutions you have done and when something does work on snow leopard and not in Lion will not automatically need to be qualified as a bug unless you tried different solutions.
    Have you tried to delete the 'lastusedworkspace' file from the user library, resetting preferences and even deleted the plist file from the user library prefs?  And did you try the default film strip mode.  Or other default workspaces, is it only your own customized workspace that shows this behavior? What have you set as additional info lines in the Bridge prefs.
    If it seems a bug you should report it as such at Adobe, this is still a user to user forum. But with Lion still in development and wide spread known as a bit buggy it might also be wise to throw the same bug report at Apple.

  • How to show rating dots and file name underneath thumbnail in Bridge CS4 preview workspace?

    How to show rating dots and file name underneath thumbnail in Bridge CS4 preview workspace?

    Thank you! That was it. The option to change it is not available in preferences (though I believe it was in early CS versions). It's hidden in a dropdown menu associated with an icon at the top. It sure wasn't easy to find, and I probably would not have done so without your lead. Thanks again!

  • How can i search for multiple file names (images) in bridge?

    Hello everyone!
    Does anyone know how to search for multiple file names in bridge?
    That is to copy & paste something like this: _MG_2152, _MG_2177, _MG_2194, _MG_2195, _MG_2202, _MG_2212, _MG_2219, _MG_2261, _MG_2362, _MG_2401
    Not using several criterias in the search box that is. That takes too long.

  • Weird symbol in file name and images by pixel instead of size?

    i my filenames i sometimes see a weird box with what looks like a script "x". is this some kind of default symbol that indicates i am using a non standard symbol in this file name? it sometimes happens after i drag and drop something say from my desktop to my laptop.
    also, is there any chance of being able to see pixel size of images in a Finder window in addition to or instead of File size?
    Thanks.

    Some things about this.
    1. Ignore the back slash in front of the space.  That's the terminal shell convention for escaping (making significant) special characters that follow the back slash (in this case a space).
    2. A pathname like ~/foo/bar is another shell convention where the tilde is a shorthand for your home directory.
    3. I am not convinced that the weird stuff is not there in the Finder display.  I think it just doesn't show in the Finder's desktop font.
    4. I am going to use your example for the following discussion.  Extrapolate where needed.
    The terminal shows a pathname like /Users/homename/Desktop/_evolute\ tutes, i.e. with some kind of garbage character(s) after tutes.
    In terminal type cp followed by a space and drag that tutes file into the terminal window.  I think it will look something like this (don't hit return yet).
    cp /Users/homename/Desktop/_evolute\ tutes
    Now type a space and add ~/Desktop/foobar on to the end of the line.  It should now look like the following:
    cp /Users/homename/Desktop/_evolute\ tutes  ~/Desktop/foobar
    Hit return.  You should see a file called foobar on your desktop (unless you get an error because the shell didn't like those special characters at the end of the pathname, in which case we have to quote it, but ignore that for now and we can address that in a followup post).  All this did was copy your file to the desktop with a different name, foobar in this case.
    Now I propose that the file foobar is named just that.  If you throw that in the trash, do a get info on it, or drag it back into the terminal window, it should still be just the name foobar.  Nothing else at the end of it.
    If all this goes as I described, then the moral of all this is that however that original problematic file (or files) was created somehow something added those non-printable characters to the end of the name.  In some fonts it shows as best the font being used can show it.  In others they remain invisible because there is no representation in that particular font.
    ...on the other hand, I could just be wrong about all of this!

  • Can I include the FILE NAME when printing from Bridge?

    I'm a commercial photographer. I shoot with my camera tethered to a Mac laptop to view images immediately as I shoot. I use Bridge to view these images.
    As I shoot, we save the file by product name, and then print proofs immediately. I need to include the File Name on these prints. Is
    there a way for me to do this directly from Bridge? If not, can you think of a way using Photoshop? Or anything else? Lightroom?

    Guessing you are using Bridge CS4 you could use the Adobe Output module for
    this. It is reachable through a seperate workspace in the top menu right
    side or the left side top menu the icon most right.
    You can create different lay outs as a PDF with this but for you it should
    be one per page and select the filename (with or without extension). Just
    explore the posibilities. For CS4 you could use the updated Output Module.
    If on CS3 you could use the contact sheet script for Photoshop that in
    Bridge can be reached by the menu Tools / Photoshop / contactsheet. This
    contactsheet script is also usable for CS4, it is on the Goodies install
    disk for PSCS4
    As I shoot, we save the file by product name, and then print proofs
    immediately. I need to include the File Name on these prints. Is
    there a way for me to do this directly from Bridge? If not, can you think of a
    way using Photoshop? Or anything else? Lightroom?

  • How do I remove files names from my contact sheets in bridge?

    I'm creating a contact sheet in Bridge and I only want the pictures not the text file names on the final contact sheet.  How do I do this?

    I only want the pictures not the text file names on the final contact sheet.
    In the output panel are several options to select or deselect. In your case go the 'Overlays' and inhere deselect 'filename' and ' extensions' for not showing this info on your final contact sheet. You can also create a template when your final lay out is ready so you can easily return to this lay out when needed.

  • REALLY long files names shortened by Bridge's Image Processor

    I have images from a PHPBB forum website that during creation of a post to the forum have been auto renamed by scripts and then inserted into the database. The images are huge in file size and have used up the webserver disk space meaning no more images can be uploaded!
    I decided to download all images and process them down to 800 pixel wide images using Bridge's image processor to reduce the file size. This worked OK for image size reduction, but it did change the name of the file to a shorter name which has broken the link to the images.
    The files names are huge! Here's an example:
    45_1c039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c039812422e7d6b9 d29589ffb7a44a545_1c039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c 039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c039812422e7d6b9d29589ffb7a44a545_1c0
    ...and yes, it doesn't have a file extension!
    How can I overcome this problem of shortening file names?
    Thanks

    "Use another image processor?"  Why? I've noticed this same thing lately as I use Bridge/CR do basic image adjustments on files renamed to even shorter character strings. Bridge just ignores everything after x number of characters. This is a solid bug in my book as it screws up any kind of workflow between Bridge and Photoshop and, well just about anything...

  • File Sender adapter - source file name - weird

    Hi all,
    We have a sender file adapter polling an ftp location. The Dynamic config has been enabled to get the source file name.
    The actual file name is - "hrmd.xml", but in the dynamic configuration node, in sxmb_moni, the fileName is shown as ./hrmd.xml.
    This does not occur with any other file sender adapter comm channels polling ftp locations.
    I guess this has something to do with the ftp server. Did anyone face this issue?

    the fileName is shown as ./hrmd.xml
    The file name surely cant have a / in it....such characters are not allowed.
    is there any way we can change the fileName message attribute once the file is picked up
    Create a UDF for Dynamic Configuration and change the name as per your requirement (in XI)....the source file may be having proper format for name and i assume that you have to change it for receiver file name

  • Weird LV 7.0 File names on Macintosh

    When opening a VI, from the Basics 1 course, a screen appears that it
    cannot find a VI named "AI Sample Channel (scaled value).vi"
    The required file is found in the 1EASYIO folder, on the computer's
    hard drive" but LV shows the file name as "AI Sample Channel (scaled
    va.vi"
    In view of this inability to associate the truncated file name as being
    the same the file "AI Sample Channel (scaled va.vi" is duplicated and
    the name of the copy is changed to "AI Sample Channel (scaled
    value).vi" .  It appears with the new name when the folder is
    reopened.
    However LV 7.0 will not recognize the new name, which always appears
    normal in the OS directory.  LV, when Open is used shows the file
    name as "AI Sample Channel (scal #C7E2.vi"  This hex looking
    addition still does not open because LV does not recognize it as the
    "AI Sample Channel (scaled value).vi" which appears in the Finder
    Directory.
    How have others got around this limitation?
    Raymond

    Raymond,
    I found an archived copy of the LabVIEW Basics course manual and CD for LV 6.1.  You said you are mostly trying the demo vi's.  I looked at these vi's but it doesn't look like they use the Traditional DAQ VI's.  Those demo vi's are actually used to simulate the DAQ VI's without HW.  I can see though if you opened one of the VI's that actually uses the driver, the filenames are longer than 32 char.
    I think Lynn is on the right track for a workaround.  Are the Traditional DAQ VI's in your LabVIEW palette?  If so, you should easily be able to open the VI, ignore the missing subVI's, and replace them with the VI's in the palette, and resave.  Let us know if reopening the VI after you have saved it with the changes results in any similar behavior.
    Good Luck!
