Weird bugs in 2.2.1

Does anyones else have a bunch of problems with the new update?
Since installing it I've had the mail app freeze several times, and have had other programs randomly drop. My phone completely froze at the lock screen once and had to force restart.
So is this update full of bugs or what?

Weird Bug Still On Going

I have recently upgraded my home PC with new motherboard, CPU and RAM. Since then i have a weird bug that i cant seem to get my head around to fix.
Basically whenever i am in the metro UI start screen, at random times when i left or right click it will hang my system with NO BSOD. My monitors go to sleep my PC is still on and the fans are still on as well as the LEDS andmy keyboard and mouse but
they are frozen.
I cant remote onto it from my logmein account to see what is going on.
I have tried the following:
change power options to disable sleep timeout
re installed fresh windows 8 then update to 8.1
changed my main HDD and re installed windows 8 then updated to 8.1
installed and updated all of my hardware (mouse, keyboard, motherboard chipset)
It is very random and frustrating as i am an IT engineer and i cannot figure out what is going on. I have estimated that my system at peak load pulls around 590W of power and i have a 750W Modular Gaming PSU.
I also have a NVIDIA GTX 295 Pre watercooled.
I really cannot think what this could be and would really appreciate some guidance/assistance with this. In my opinion I do not think it is to do with my PSU or GPU as it is ONLY doing this in WINDOWS 8.1 METRO Screen and nowhere elese not even the metro
screen in windows 8 before I update to 8.1

try to check whether this issue also happen in safe mode or BIOS, if still hang there than high possibility hardware compatibility or HW issue itself
try to remove all 3rd party HW like printer, LAN cable, usb dongle and do power cycle to isolate 3rd party HW compatibility or HW issue
if you suspected this is windows issue, I suggest create 1 partition and installed windows 7 or any others OS to proof that this is not HDD or any other HW related issue
because you already reformat your OS, I suggest try to troubleshoot from the hardware side first (HDD, RAM, connection cable SATA and power etc)

Is anyone else having a weird bug in MobileMe gallery with volume on iOS 5? I am having a weird problem, where if I view a video I have uploaded and change the volume, I used the on-screen slider and It changed the volume but it also popped up like I was controlling it from the side. I thought that was kind of weird. If you want to see my problem, there will be a video up on Contemputech.com within a half-hour of me writing this.

I'm hoping you are no longer having problems with your iPhone visual voice mail.
I can understand how frustrating it is to not be able to access such a great feature on your iPhone.
We did determine customers not being able to access Visual Voicemail on their iPhones.
Common errors are "visual voicemail is not available" or it just keeps loading the message.
(In the meantime, you can still review voicemail messages by dialing *86)
This issue should have been resolved for everyone effective 3/2/12.

Weird Bugs with new 4th Gen Nano

I've been getting weird bugs only a week after I bought a 16GB Orange 4th Generation iPod Nano on ebay New of course. First off, while at school the other day, it shut off and the apple screen showed for about 30 seconds. Then none of my 600 songs would play. However, I reset the ipod by pressing the center button and menu and holding them down for a few seconds. What do you think is wrong? Thank you so much.

I just bought a PURPLE 4th Gen Nano 8gig, and I have been having the same problem. If I skip to the next song more than 4 times, the Nano shuts off and reboots. I did have one particular song, when "played," that was causing it to shut down, so I removed it. I did not attempt to re-sync it. Now, if I skip to next track more than 4 times, it shuts down and reboots. This happens a few times a day. Depending on my mood, I may not want to listen to Rock tracks that day, so I skip them to get to my R&B tracks. Some days I want to listen to DANCE tracks. So, for clarity's sake, I do tend to skip songs a lot. But that should not be cause for constant reboots, from any MP3 player. It certainly was never a problem for my Sandisk Sansa e280, that I owned before switching to iPod.
Another item that bothers me is that my tracks are not all in alphabetical order. Or rather, I should say, they are listed alphabetically in multiple sections. Out of 1500+ songs, there are approx. 20 sections of A-Z. For example: If you scroll through the song list A-Z, you will not find Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy." But after Z, the list "continues" A-Z again!! But "Nature Boy" is not in that list either. The list continues on AGAIN, A-Z... and viola, there is "Nature Boy." In the THIRD section of A-Z of the song list. Anyone, have a clue as to WHY the entire library of music is not listed alphabetically? But rather parceled out in sections?? None of the tracks are repeated, each section of A-Z contains different tracks!! It makes finding a song you are wanting to hear, a real chore!! And is NOT indicative of a world class company, nor a world class product.
And before anyone reads off their teleprompter as to how "I should check to see that my computer is blah, blah, blah......" It IS up-to-date. Every driver, every piece of software, every security definition, every release, every add-on. I spent an entire weekend making absolutely POSITIVE that THAT issue was resolved. Vista SP1, Windows Defender, IE7, Firefox 3, iTunes 8, eve-ry-th-ing!! Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I'm looking for a little thing called "real answers." Thanks.

Really Weird Bug?

I have this really weird bug on my mac. I don't think the manual says anything about this so I have come here. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, music starts playing. I have never heard this music before (besides during this bug) and there is no way to turn it off besides restarting the computer. Restarting the computer is a temporary fix, but the music comes back after awhile. No applications have to be open in order for the music to start playing. I have even quit all applications (including finder) in order to try to stop the music but none of it works. (And BTW it can start without itunes opening up. I never opened itunes and it all of a sudden started so it is not an itunes problem) I have absolutely no idea how to fix the bug, so somebody help?????

Really weird bug, About This Computer/Storage

Hello,
Today when I was looking trough About This Computer I found this weird bug:
What I mean is that my drives are hidden abit under the other text to the right, I can't read what type my SSD is either.
This is how it looks on my friends computer:
Is it really supposed to look like that for me? I can't resize the window either.

It should say "of type Sata"
Do you have any idea why the pictures of the harddrives isnt centered with the text as it is on my friends?

Weird bug with desynced nodes - including demo and screencast

This is a follow-up to Desync of Elements and logic - how to debug?
I started a new thread because I will provide better information on this.
So we've made our graph editor working with JavaFX. One of our common demos for different products is a organizational chart demo. This is a tree-like graph with employees as nodes to depict the hierarchical structure of companies.

The startup is quite slow, it takes a few seconds for the graph to load. This is because the visual representation of the nodes is described within (nested) fxml files and each of those files is loaded in a not so effective way (because it is at the moment not possible in JavaFX to define a custom BeanAdapter in the FXMLLoader that does proper caching). After those files are loaded, there are still some ClassNotFoundExceptions thrown in the background by some part of the JavaFX framework I did not identify, yet. After a few seconds the performance speeds up significantly.
What you can do in this demo is described on the right. Basically you can zoom in/out, fit view, center a certain employee and interact with them.
Interaction means you can collapse and enlarge certain parts of the graph. For example, you can hide all subordinates of an employee and show them again.
The part of "showing them again" is done with an animation effect that is implemented in our framework, not in JavaFX.
When you hover an employee, a fading translation is played as a hover effect and some buttons appear. This part is important so i wanted to highlighted.
The hover effect is triggered by a onMouseEntered and onMouseExited event.
Also you can focus a certain employee by clicking on them. When clicked, the color changes from blue to orange. This is done by our internal logic, since the clickable things on the screen are not the JavaFX rectangles and such but rather a logical representation of a node with a position on the screen and a with and height.
So this is where things go wrong and what is really crucial for our application:
When you collapse/enlarge nodes (employees) a bug appears quite frequently that causes the internal representation and the actual appearence of JavaFX elements on the screen to be out of sync. Most notably the hover effect doesn't work anymore: The node is visually present (as you can see it) and the values of the nodes in the scenegraph match as well, but those nodes just are not present any more for any events. They do not receive mouse entered/exited events, hover-events and pressed-events and so on. You can still click on the node and focus it, but this is done in our framework (indicating that our logic works).
The connection of the logic and the javafx controller is done via databinding. The controller listens to changes in the corresponding model item and updates itself accordingly - you can see it when clicking on a node, the selection state of the model item changes and the controller updates the style of the javafx node.
The other effects however, like the hover-effect, are implemented on databinding on properties of the JavaFX node class: hoverProperty, onMouseEntered onMouseExited and so on.
Once a node is in this state, weird stuff is happening. For example, a node that is in this state seems to have normal values when viewed in ScenicView. However, when changing some values, for example translateX / Y, the node just disappears. (see also: http://www.screenr.com/lYF8 where i recorded that (a bit later in the video))
For an example of this have a look at the link to the screencast above. We showed how to reproduce the bug there.
We noticed that without any animation played this does not happen. So it seems to be caused by the animation. This is itself quite surprising, because we used the same animation process with other javaFX applications but never experienced this bug.
What happens is that our Animator sets the layoutX and layoutY values of a node that is being animated repeatedly and in rapid succession over a period of time.
The only thing we can think of that might cause this problem is that JavaFX somehow is not able to process a large amount of such update-calls and throws some exception internally and just dies.
Because of this we strongly hope that somebody can point us to were we have to look or how to even debug this problem.

Only real advice I can offer is something you almost certainly know =>

Ensure that anything you do which could read/write from nodes in an active scenegraph be done on the JavaFX application thread.I just double checked this and unless Platform.isFxApplicationThread() returns a wrong value, the only interaction with JavaFX nodes is done in the JavaFX application thread.
I think your app issues will prove very hard to resolve through this forum. Nicolas Lorain is the javafx product manager, so you could try contacting him directly for support. There is also some kind of JavaFX partner program which may be able to offer support as well, Nicolas should also have details on that.

The only advanced support I could find is the Oracle Premier Support, which at this point isn't suitable for us. I also couldn't find any contact information for Nicolas Lorain (he has a blog and twitter but I cannot find his email). So if you could point me to somewhere, I'd be very glad.

Solo Track : another weird bug ?

Year after year, I find more and more annoying bugs in Logic Pro. This time it's the Solo Track button that act weird :
Take track with regions.
Activate the Solo button on that track.
Move a region from another track (that is not in Solo) to the Solo'ed track : this region WON'T BE PLAYED !!!
You NEED to un-Solo and re-Solo the track in order to include the new region...

I think I figured this one out. If you are soloing the regions, and you move a region that isn't soloed onto the track, that region will not become soloed. If you solo the track without any regions selected, then when you move a region from an unsoloed track, it activates....
I think. Don't have Logic in front of me right now to test.

Creative Sync Manager weird bug (featur

Hi,
I'm a new Zen Touch 20GB owner although I've been an avid 3G iPod owner before it died on me some time ago. Anyway, I love my new Zen Touch for what it worth but if only if the bundled software would perform better. Well, first of all, I find Creative MediaSource Organizer to be quite a decent audio player despite the weird 4-panes navigation scheme. I have no problem with it yet though.
However, the accompanying sync plugin/module for my Zen Touch is very disappointing.
Before I start ranting, here are some details:
Mp3 Player:
Zen Touch 20GB
Date of purchase: 0/2/2005
Firmware: 2.0.05 (PlayForSure)
Creative MediaSource:
Version 3.30.2 with updated driver for PlayForSure-enabled Zen Touch
Now back to the issue. First, it takes more than 0 seconds to initialise. Loading a big chunk of drivers for all MP3 players Creative have ever produced or what? Second, it doesn't have an option to delete files in my zen player which are not in my PC library. Third, it REFUSES TO REPLACE MP3 files that are already in the player eventhough the files are listed before the syncing procedure. You see, I edit ID3 tags of my music collection all the time so it is natural for me to have my modified ID3 tags to reflect on the files on my Zen Touch as well. OK sure, when I fire up the sync manager, it manages to detect that I have all these files with updated ID3 tags needed to be copied over to my Zen Touch but why in the name of creativity wouldn't it copy the files just like it should do? The files are already in my Zen Touch? Just replace them! I know what I want to do so just replace them! Or at least give me the "Do you want to replace the files?" box with "Yes" or "No" button. Why do I have to go into the directory structure of my zen player and delete the files manually in order to get the latest files copied over?
I hope this issue is fixed soon. Don't give me those "download the freeware NomadSync etc" advices. Why bother releasing the bundled software if it cannot do such a simple job of replacing files already in the player.
p/s: I read the "read before you post" post and I already did some searches in the forum for previously posted posts on the issue above but it seems that I'm the first one to discover it. well, I don't mind having to use other program for not-so-common jobs, but this is about replacing/overwriting files that are already in the player. I did mention that the sync manager is smart enough to make a list of files that it thinks should be synced to my zen touch but why won't it copy the files over? Isn't it weird if you sit and think about it's Isn't the real purpose of sync manager to copy files from PC to Zen or vice versa so that both places have the exact set of files? So what if the destination already has the files? The files are different, as detected by sync manager, so it should just overwrite them. It is the basic job the Sync Manager is supposed to do, isn't it's Why should I use another program?
It's like sync manager saying "hey, I think the files X, Y and Z in your MP3 player are outdated so I am going to sync them. WHoaaaa! [CS4 Win] Weird 'Bug' giving overset text in duplicate object - stumped!

Hi all,
I am experiencing a perculiar 'bug' in InDesign CS4 (Windows).
I have a triangular text frame rotated by 45° with a 0.2mm inset.
This frame contains two words who's point size is just big enough to fit the text in the frame without it oversetting.
The leading is set to 100% of the point size.
When I duplicate the text frame either with the Duplicate command, cut 'n' paste or alt dragging, the new text frame is overset!
I cannot find any difference between the two objects what so ever.
If, in the original text frame, I change the text frame options inset to 0 and then back to the original 0.2 mm, I get overset!
Scaling the original up by any amount also causes overset, as does increasing the height of the frame and then returning it to its original height.
I have tried exporting as a snippet but the new placed text frame oversets.
Does anyone have any idea might be causing this behaviour.
It doesn't do it in CS3 or in CS5.
I have included a link to an example file, you will need to have the same font (HelveticaNeueLTPro-BlkCn) to see the problem.

Hi Simon.
My initial reaction was it might have to do with the third party plugins, but I exported to .inx to strip them out, and then NONE of the frames had both words. I also thought it might be that the the frame isn't a right triangle and the slight angles on the vertical and horizontal might be a problem, but I made a new frame with the same hypotenuse but the correct legs, and that didn't make a difference, either. (I made it by drawing a rectangular frame exactly half as high as it was wide, adding a point at the center of the top path segment with the pen, then deleted the two upper corner points).
I have to say my conclusion is that the problem here is there really isn't enough room in the frame for both words with that inset. Adding 3% to the size of the frame (by clicking the chainlink to link changes to height and width, then typing +3% after the height [adding in the scale fields scales the type, too, so don't do it there] and pressing Enter) brings both words into view.
Curiously, When I opened the file in CS5, the words fit without messing around. Cutting and pasting the frames with overset made both words appear. This could be due to the new way ID deals with text in non-rectangular shapes. When I opened the .inx file without the plugin information in CS5 all the text was visible in all frames. I think the only reason the text ever fit in the original CS4 file might have to do with one of the plugins, but that's pure speculation. I don't think there's any sort of bug here.

Weird bug after upgrading itunes to 7.5 and going back to 7.2

hey everyone,
I've made a series of mistakes. I run OS X 10.3.9 on a G4 desktop. I upgraded itunes 7.2 to 7.5 and when it didn't work i tried to go back. I found a way, but i didn't uninstall 7.5 correctly and developed a bug. whenever i click on a .wav or .aif in column view in Finder or Pro Tools the window or application crashes.
I re-upgraded to itunes 7.5 in hope of fixing this, but nothing.

it could be quicktime. When my dumb *** updated itunes, i also updated QT from 6.5.2 to 7.3. That version didn't work with my digidesign hardware and i had to find a way to downgrade. I found this link: http://fox-gieg.com/tutorials/2005/undo-quicktime-7/

Using iWeb to publish my mobileme photo gallery -really weird bugs help plz

I have a really weird problem and have tried searching the forums already with no luck.
I'm using iWeb09 to put mobileme photo album on my website. When I initially add the widget onto my page, the widgets will show a "preview" of what pictures are in the gallery if you hover your mouse over it. Later during the day, I'm not sure if I did anything to mess it up but that "preview" is no longer there. It's just a black box. It still works however if you click on it because it takes you to the mobile gallery.
The only way for me to fix it was to delete the mobile me album and create a new one. Then re-add the widget onto my iWeb.
This has happened twice to me already and I cannot figure out why it happens. I'm sorry if my description is vague. Please help.

There is no point in re-installing iWeb, because after you have published it really is not an iWeb problem - if there is something not working on uploading the files, then it is really nothing to do with iWeb after html pages have been created.
If you are using Fetch to upload, then you have obviously published your site to a local folder? If so, are the photos there when you look at your local site? If they are there when you publish to a local site, then it is an error in uploading and if photos do not show, it means that some things are not being uploaded to your server correctly.
Have you tried using Cyberduck instead of Fetch? Cyberduck or Transmit are two of the better ftp programmes to try.

Managing two libraries in iTunes - weird bug

I have two iTunes libraries (that is both library database and music files) that I am trying to maintain. On my internal drive in my MacBook Pro in which I have a set of AAC files with their associated library databse. On an external drive I am creating a "this is the last time I ever rip these CDs" Apple Lossless library (which can also serve as a backup).
To switch between these libraries I open iTunes while holding down the option key and choose the external drive library file. I then go into advanced preferences and redirect it to the music folder on the external drive. I then import CDs in lossless format as I have the opportunity. When I am done I switch back to the AAC internal library for everyday use. I can use this method to change between the libraries reasonably reliably. However, a strange bug keeps rearing its head.
When I switch to the external library it will commonly have references to AAC files on my internal drive seemingly replacing references to lossless files on my external. I can fix this problem by sorting by type and deleting all the AAC files from my library (this just deletes the references) then choosing add to library to reacquire the lossless files. This, however, is a pain.
Any suggestions as to what is going on and what the safest way to switch between these two libraries is?

So you are on Windows? This is Forum*: Using iTunes for Mac* .
I started a new library the way you suggested
That's the only way there is to do it.
Create a new library and select completely different locations.
Don't choose the same location as the other library.
Do this.
Create 2 folders on the external.
G:\Music\Lossless
G:\Music\AAC
Hold Shift (for Windows), Option (for Mac) and launch iTunes
Select *Create new library* and select the AAC folder you created above.
This will create a new iTunes folder in G:\Music\AAC. You should now have G:\Music\AAC\iTunes\.
Go to Windows Exploder and move all your AAC files into G:\Music\AAC\iTunes\iTunes music\ folder.
Go to iTunes menu File -> Add folder to library and select G:\Music\AAC\iTunes\iTunes music\.
Quit iTunes and restart holding Shift (for Windows), Option (for Mac).
Select *Create new library* and select the Lossless folder you created above.
This will create a new iTunes folder in G:\Music\Lossless. You should now have G:\Music\Lossless\iTunes\.
Go to Windows Exploder and move all your Lossless files into G:\Music\Lossless\iTunes\iTunes music\ folder.
Go to iTunes menu File -> Add folder to library and select G:\Music\Lossless\iTunes\iTunes music\.
Next time you launch iTunes hold Shift* (for Windows), Option (for Mac) select Choose library and select teh iTunes library.itl file in teh folder you want.
Make sure you first set your Import prefs to AAC or Lossless, depending on which folder you are in.

CS4: Editable Region locked in design view - weird bug in CS4?

Hi,
I've the following issue to report: My template based webpages contain 3 editable regions. One of them (cText_m0) refuses editing in desgin view though it's editable (colored code) in code-view. Neither ALT+click nor doubleclick helps.

IE only pays attention to the DOCTYPE if it is the very first

I'm having a weird bug with Flash Professional

When ever I try to draw something, the moment I touch the pen down it makes a line to the bottom of the screen. I have a 10x6.25 Monoprice. Now normally I would assume that there's something wrong with my monoprice but this only ever happens on flash. Everything else works just fine. Oddly enough, If I draw (or even click) in the Pen Pressure Testing box, I can draw a single line just fine, at any length so I know that it works. Then the next lines will go straight back to doing what they did before, unless I click on the Pressure tab again then back onto Flash. I use windows 7.
Yes I have re-installed flash. I've changed the pen tips. I have not touched any settings on anything ever. So I don't know if it's a setting bug. I just hope it's an easy fix Please help!
