Weird display behaviour on MacPro 3,1, 2 screen set-up

Hi I recently went to a 2 screen set up running off the standard ATI Radeon HD 2600 Graphics Card which was pre-installed on my MacPro 3,1.
(A) Monitor one is a 24" Widescreen Syncmaster SMBX2440 (LED) connected DVI-D to DVI-D
(B) Monitor two is a 19" Samsung Syncmaster 192v (LCD) Working fine via a VGA Adapter from a DVI-D port.
All has been working fine for about 2 months with no problems whatsoever, but recently the main LED monitor (A) has started displaying weird graphic 'smears' across the screen momentarily, for a few seconds and then gone. I find these 'Smears' really intrusive, and have been wondering what is causing them. I managed to get a screenshot of one:
These smears also occur when viewing or interacting with any Flash content. As the screenshot worked, I can only summise that the problem is not with the monitor or the lead which connects it but is an internal issue with my computer.
I am wondering if my Graphics Card is failing, I have swapped the ports over for the monitors but it's still the main LED monitor (A) which shows these smears and not the LCD Syncmaster (B).
Can anyone shed any light on what's causing these 'smears' and suggest a potential fix. I don't mind replacing the graphics card, but I'd rather know it'll fix the problem before investing.

Nope - it sounds as if you've GPU issues and the discrete GPU is soldered onto the logic board. take your new machine into your local Apple Store for a replacement. Don't wait too long!

WordPress page, weird display in Firefox-Mac

Hello,
My client has a WordPress blog, and he tells me that when he
view his latest
post in Firefox/Mac, he sees a "milky white overlay" on top
of the page, and
that this "overlay" prevents him from being able to click
anywhere where it
is.
He says "It does not seem to affect Firefox on Linux nor
Safari on Mac."

How can I use an Imac as a display for a MacPro?

I purchased a used 2009 MacPro with the understanding I could use my iMac as a monitor using a mini display cable. I was under the impression that plugging in the mini display cable would cause the iMac to automatically default as a display for the MacPro. In all of the examples I've seen are of a laptop using an iMac as a display. I don't know how to access the Mac Pro's system preferences without a monitor to set up the iMac as a display. Any suggestions?

[solved] laptop - weird keyboard behaviour

since upgrading to kernel 3.2.1.1 (same with 3.2.1.2) I have a weird keyboard behaviour.
I have to press ESC to leave this weird mode.

same for me, for about one week, on 2 different systems. I'm using KDE4 but some other people reported this problem on Gnome too. It generally stops when I strike the key again a few times.
It happened when I showed someone how cool Linux was, and then it opened 60 occurences of the same images I wanted to cut and paste...

BCM4322 wireless weird burst behaviour.

I have a Dell studio xps 1340, with the BCM4322 wireless card. Everything work fine with the broadcom-wl driver, however, I seem to get this weird burst behaviour. By this I mean, my network connection seems to be available for only 1-2 seconds before it cuts off and then reactivates another 1-2 seconds later.
I'm running KDE 4.5 using the networkmanager plasmoid. Here is a screenshot of said behaviour:
Can anyone explain to me why this is happening and if I can fix it in any way?

I've switched to wicd and everything seems to be fine now... Sometimes I get a random disconnect but it's pretty rare.

Ideapad u300 screen not working - covered with some weird displays

A few days when I turned on my laptop, I could not see the log in box since the screen was mostly covered by some weird displays. I can only see the down right corner of the screen where I can choose to shut down or restart. But I can see the whole screen normally if I connect the laptop with a external screen, like a TV screen with HDMI cable. Does it mean that the laptop screen is broken and I need to get a replacement?

Unpredictible Display behaviour

I am facing problem in having a correct display in the second tab pane of JTabbedPane. I am using JTabbedPane for displaying one panel in 1st tab and other panel (identical to 1st panel) in the 2nd tab. The panels which are added in the tabbed pane are complex panels -- having multiple panels in it with combobox, textfields, etc.
The display in the tab 1 is perfect. But when one moves to tab 2, few combobox are displayed, whereas labels, textfields are missing. The reason behind this display err is not clear. If I try to select an item in the displayed combobox, the drop down list appears & on selection of one of the item, the combobox is not displayed in the tab. So, the tab almost becomes empty. Though clicking in the area where the combobox & textfield should have been (probably), it shows drop down list & textfield part. Sometimes, few of the components come on the gui display but are again resetted(gets hidden) on some operation.
Its not the case that the panels that is being added in tab2 is having few components. If I move this panel to tab1, it is displayed correctly where as the panel which was previous on tab1 n currently on tab2, shows the unpredictible display behaviour.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

If u select materail 'a', the corresponding graph or some other component will give u values corresponding to that selection rit?
now u wanted to have different canvas background /chartbackground ??? or for combo box???
if that is for chart/complete canvas background:
Goto Arts and background
drag and drop a background into canvas
set some background color to that component
goto combo box
goto behaviour tab of combo box .
Insert selected item:mapp that to a blank cell (Sheet1!$E$1)
goto behaviour tab of background component .
Status:mapp the cell Sheet1!$E$1 (insert Selected item cell of combo box (Sheet1!$E$1)).
Key: mapp material 'a'
place ur chart on this background and bring that to front....
follow the same for all material types b,c,d
Note :your chart should b on top of all the background components .

Settings --> General --> Accessibility --> Invert Colours
is the setting you might have changed.

Weird display crashes

I'm just posting this question to find out if anyone has experienced what's happened to my G4 recently. Waking it up from sleep mode, I've been working away and then - PHWATOINGG - the whole display goes BLACK! Just disappears. This has happened twice in as many days and I'm wondering if it's anything serious??

Hi, Dan. It's only serious if you need to see the display while you're working — otherwise, you can just ignore it.
But seriously: when this happens, if you shine a bright light on the display, can you dimly see whatever ought to be clearly displayed there? If so, what's probably happening is that your Powerbook's inverter, which provides power to the display backlight, is failing intermittently and needs to be replaced. And that is serious, because replacing it will cost a lot of money or a lot of your do-it-yourself time and energy, and the DIY replacement is anything but simple.
If there's nothing on the screen at all, even under a bright light, connect an external display to the Powerbook. If the external display works when the built-in display doesn't, there's a problem with the video cable from the logic board to the LCD panel or with the LCD panel itself. In that case the remedy will be to replace the entire display assembly, which includes the LCD, bezel, video and backlight cables, inverter, nd some other internal components.
If an external display behaves just like the built-in screen, your logic board is failing, and will have to be replaced. That's no joke either.
So unless you can be happy with a black screen, you're facing a considerable investment of money and/or effort in your Powerbook to get it running properly again. Whether or not that's worthwhile depends to some extent on how inclined you are to do the work yourself, as well as on which 12" Powerbook model you have. IMac 11.3 as second display in Maverick, just shows a black screen

I'm trying to reuse my iMac 11.3 mid 2010 (ATI HD 5750) as second display for my MacPro 1.1 (ATI HD5770 + 24" Cinema) through a mini display cable. This used to work fine in 10.8. Now both computers are upgraded to 10.9 and iMac only shows a black screen when pressing Cmd+F2 on the iMac.
Any hints appreciated besides this is only supported for +2011 models

Yes I agree it is something wrong with Safari, but WHAT?
I have two macs sitting beside each other, both running Safari pointed at a .pdf file; one runs adobe just fine, the other shows black.
No amount of pawing through the Preferences tree shows me anything remotely relevant.

On any machine, please try:
Click the "Options" tab on the PowerPoint toolbar,
then select "Play Full Screen" from the "Movie Options" group.
The "Options" tab is located directly underneath the "Movie Tools" button.

Urgent help needed: how to display a list of records on the screen

This is very urgent. Can anyone help me. I have posted this query of mine before also but still no reply came. My whole application is dependent on this problem. Actually I am developing an application for mobile phone using MIDP. I have a record store which contains personal details for users. I am able to add records to the record store. Now I want that these records can be edited. For this I want to display a list of firstname field on the screen (and not console) so that i can select a user to edit its details. I have written the code to read the records and individual fields and display it on the console but i want to display that list on screen. I tried list and array but it s giving some error.
