Weird dos-like screen when I start up.....

So, my comp. was being slow and just not seeming up to par, so i decided to shut down and then restart in the morning....
well, when i restarted i got the gray screen with the apple and then a black screen with dos-like (don't technically know what they are called) codes on it...any idea what this is and how to fix it?

It sounds as if you are booting into open firmware,
If you are at the Open Firmware screen and want to start up into Mac OS, simply type "mac-boot" without the quotes at the command prompt and press Return to exit Open Firmware. The iMac should exit Open Firmware and continue starting up into Mac OS.

If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
This should invoke recovery Mode.
Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
Report any error messages.

I have this problems since yesterday. A curve line appears through the apple logo when i start my ipad...is this indication of a problem???or what...

The Apple logo DOES have a curve running through it. If it's just the Apple logo itself and not the screen, then there's nothing wrong.

Folder with Question Mark on Start-up/ DOS-like screen with errors now...

Left my Mac Pro running last night, woke up to it being frozen (looked like it was
in hibernation mode and wouldn't wake up).
Forced a shut down from button on tower - on start-up, went gray screen
with blinking folder with question mark.
Inserted install disc 1 and held down 'C' - Went to choose your lang menu,
I picked English, went to choose start-up disc. Options were the install
disc and a network drive with a question mark. I picked drive with
question mark.
Computer looked like it was trying to restart, apple with loading circle
spinning, and then blinked to a black screen that looked like DOS that was
blinking error messages (one message was "diskOs2 undefined Oxe0030005")
Any suggestions?

Was there a storm or outage that could have brought it down? for now it sounds like a kernel panic screen is what you are seeing. If you don't have a UPS, I wouldn't be w/o. Never know when one of those high winds will knock out power.
You could try to do an SMC Reset and see.
I assume you usually sleep the system and it doen't have trouble with wake from sleep, and you haven't altered the system (new hardware etc) in any way that would change that.

Blue Screen When I Start Up My Macbook

My macbook was freezing so I restarted it a few times. I got a blue screen with only a pointer. When I inserted the installation disk and booted Disk Utility and tried to make repairs, it said there were no errors in my start-up disk, yet when i tried to boot my computer again, the same thing happened! Try starting your computer in Safe Boot mode.
Hold down on your shift key when restarting the computer.
Hold it until the apple with the spinning gear appear.
The boot time may be long as maintenance routines are run.
A simple system is loaded with only necessary system extensions and fonts.
All login items are disabled.
If you can now login, you may want to remove the login items under the system preferences>accounts>login items tab and restart.
If you can't get to the login window, don't worry.
You can boot to the install disk and do an archive and install preserving user and network settings.
Your data should be fine.

Blank screen when notebook starts

Hi,
My computer boots normally when I switch it on but the screen is blank at the password entering screen. I have to re-boot it again several time to have the screen on. I noticed if I unplug the mains connector from the laptop, plug it again, sometimes the display works again!
As a workaround, should I choose Hibernate instead of Switch off?

Why does my macbook have the gray screen when it starts up?

my macbook pro has just started doing this - i keep it plugged in most of the time, and this has never been a problem for my previous macbook or before with this macbook until recently. every time i shut my laptop, and then open it later, it brings me to the gray screen with a white bar that loads pretty quickly, and then it brings me to my password login page. however, it takes a little longer for my mouse/cursor to be functional at this screen. any idea why this is happening? i have never had it do this before so i am not sure what is going on because i haven't been doing anything differently.

Long beep and Dark screen when I start

I just bought myself a new gaming computer for the summer, Iwe spent about 10.000KR, thats about 1,500Usdollars, but I cant get the damned thing to work, so Im posting here hoping you experts could give me some suggestion about what to do. And by the way, Iwe build a couple of computers during my time, but lost the hang of it, and do not posess too much knowledge about the newest of hardware =)
So, lets get on with the problem;
I build the pc myself, and after plugging in the various power cords and such, I hear a loud beep that won't stop when I press the power button, and a blank (or dark if you will) screen.
Now, all Iwe connected to the mainboard is the screencard (In the topmost PCI express 16x), one SATA-disk (In slot 5), one 1gb DDR2 chip (In the left-most green slot), and one CD-rom (By an IDE-cable in the yellow IDE-slot)
I think the problem is that Iwe connected some power-cords wrong, or that I dont got the right ones. The ones Iwe connected to the mainboard is a 24-pin (into the ATX1 slot), one normal "thingy" (Uhm, like the ones you put into HD's and CD-roms, normal 4-pins I think its called) into the JPWR and one 6-pin into the JPW - Besides that Iwe connected the HD and CD-rom with normal 4-pins.'
So my questions is as such;
Do I need an 8-pin to the JPW instead of the 6-pin I got?
Do I got enough power in my PSU?
Do I need to connect more or less power-cords?
Have I forgot something?
Should I buy a new (and more appropriate) PSU?

Just figured out the problem, I forgot to connect the last 6-pin rectangle to my graphics-card, making it a total of 4 cords just to the graphic and mainboard.
Anyhoo, thanks to you who tried to help, it got my mind started

Yes, I can see that now..
Iwe plugged the 4-pinned square plug into the JPW and also unplugged the CD-rom and HD just in case.
But I just tried it, and I still get a loud beeping sound that wont stop (until I turn it off) and a blank screen..
All Iwe got connected now is the JPW(4-pin square), JPWR(normal 4-pin) and ATX1(24-pin)

If you cannot put it in recovery mode to restore it, you'll have to try putting it in DFU mode to restore it as described in this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648467?threadID=2648467&tstart=0. That's the last thing you can try. If DFU mode doesn't work you probably have a hardware failure and you'll have to have Apple take a look at it.

How can I get rid of "myV9" that suddenly appeared the other day when I started Firefox?

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Until now I have had only Google as start page from Firefox. Of course I can click on the Google icon to get there, but it is the only site that I want to use of all these. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. How can I get rid of "myv9"?
Even if it doesn´t harm my computer, I am afraid that it will slow it down, and, besides, it needs an extra click to get to Google.
