Weird echos and stuttering
Weird things are going on with my Audigy 2 sound card: When I get a message with kopete I always hear a DING Ding ding, instead of one ding. When switching Phonon from Xine to Gstreamer backend, this works fine.
But when running speaker test, I only hear "Front Front Front Front ....", it just gets stuck.

aplay does not work either. Rising the buffer size helps, but even 33736 is not enough, to play the complete K3b success sound, at about 50000 I can hear the complete sound.

Also youtube does not work at all, I either get no sound at all (position bar just does not move), or I get the stuttering. Audacity does not work, but plaympeg works, and tvtime, but there the audio signal is passed into my sound card via Line-In.
Kernel downgrading to 2.6.31 did not help.
Does anyone of you have any ideas how to track down the problem, or, even better, how to solve it? Thanks a lot for reading!

I noticed a problem with my Firepod interface and my Powerbook 1.5GHz G4 a few months after I got it when a high-pitched whine came from my Powerbook when the Firepod synced. It did this ever since I got the Firepod after the Powerbook. I was assured it was an anomaly and could be repaired, but since nothing was wrong with it, Presonus wanted to say it was Apple's fault while Apple wanted to say it was Presonus' fault. I'm sure the same predicament will happen. I think this is why I try and use Apple's Logic so that I can address Apple for something - that and it's supposedly the second most popular recording app. So be aware of this...
Hopefully M-Audio will have something to help you out with, or enough Appleites will complain that they might be able to fix it. Somewhere some code isn't agreeing. I always see that as an either/or situation where it's a combination of the different companies could do something about it.
For instance, the Firepod won't whine when Apple's XCode is installed (Something I don't necessarily need anymore - it's way too in depth for me - even making AU's) I can install CHUD tools and enable processor "napping" and the whine is gone.... but since Presonus made this product, they could also do something different to make it not whine... since other products work fine for other users. Anyways... I hope this helps... and doing the same with the Firepod produced no results so hopefully an update of M-Audio will follow or 4.5 will fix it. Best of luck to you.

Echo and reverb effects disabled?
I created a project and recorded tracks with echo and reverb effects, but now when I open the project the echo and reverb effects are both disabled; I can't enable them or change their values, and the effects aren't present during playback or after export. Any idea what might be the reason/resolution for this? Thanks for your help.
It's not so weird if you understand how it works: These echo and reverb effects are "global" effects for your song - all tracks are sent through the same effect, and with the echo and reverb sliders you only determine the mix of "wet" and "dry". That saves a lot of processing power.
Of course you can apply additional different reverbs to each single track, but aside from computing resources it will cost you one of your effects slots. -
I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. When I put the leopard disk into the drive all it does is make a weird noise and then spits the disk right back out. It doesn't do this with any other discs, only this software. Is it still possible to update this computer?

Before you do upgrade to Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.

Make sure the disc you tried using doesn't have any fingerprints or smudges on it. The optical drive can't read the disk otherwise.
If your Mac won't read the disc, might be a good idea to rule out any problems with the startup disk BEFORE trying to upgrade the system.

How to get rid of 8800GT Video Laggin and Stutters
Hi there I know you must be sick of my complaints of the same issue all the time but ive still not managed to fixed this this is my 4th 8800GT that ive owned since last december
when the y got released Ive even tried XP and still the same with the latest drivers 175.16 i even tried 169.25 and that does it also In Vista 169.25 worked better but a lag now and then is there some settings that must enabled or is my cpu been bottlenecked by some thing running , the only time I have something running is when I play Fifa08 that program running is Winamp thats it aside from my Logitech Setpoint and NOD32 AV thats all So can some please help me out and Its with most of the games it lags, Give me some thing to try out please.. Iphone Music player skips and stutters with MP3s
With the upgrade to iOS 5 (and 5.0.1) on my iPhone 3GS (32GB) I began to notice skips and stutters on numerous MP3s about 10 to 30 seconds into the song. I don't remember having any problems prior to iOS5 upgrade.
The skips and stutters are somewhat reproducible in that, if I hear the skip or stutter, if I go back to the beginning of the song and play the song again, the skip or stutter will happen in approximately the same spot and will be of approximately the same nature (a repeated phrase or a jump or a distortion) but it isn't exactly the same.
Most of my songs are 256kbps VBR MP3s ripped either by iTunes from my own CDs or purchased from Amazon.
The facts (1) that the skip/stutter/or distortion is not exactly the same each time (2) the skips and stutters seem localized to the first 10 to 30 seconds of the song, then they play fine afterward, (3) that I don't have problems playing these songs under iTunes on my MacBook pro, and (4) it happens both with iTunes ripped MP3s and Amazon MP3s, would seem to be some form of OS problem rather than coding error. My guess would be some form of buffering issue or OS scheduling issue.
Has anyone else noticed these problems?I experienced the same problem with my Iphone 5 skipping and not playing the music in my library correctly. I called apple and they gave me a solution that worked so far.
The problem in my case was created by restoring the new phone from icloud. Apparently, if you have a lot of music or data, the music files don't completely download.
Of course, make sure your music is backed up before starting
Solution: connect iphone to itunes / select the music tab / uncheck sync music altogether / hit apply or sync (this should remove all music files from your phone) / when completed, re-check the sync entire music library or select your custom playlists-songs you want on your phone / then click apply or sync to put back all music on phone.

Hi, I connected to the internet in a different location using ethernet cable and when I got home websites like yahoo wont get to the sign in page and other sites too...weirdly facebook and google works ...please help...tearing my hair out!!!and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that
"my airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet!"
then after seconds it will goes back to the first message that
"airport has the self assigned IP address etc....."
i don't know whats going on now!
airport tab is not showing green color anyway! i'ts always in yellow!

Export Errors - sound echo and sound stoppage
Hi everyone - I have a bit of an urgent need for help. When I
preview my slides as a "movie" or export them to HTML, I am faced
with two errors: at one minute into the script, the sound acquires
an echo and remains for the rest of the slides. The other issue is
that the audio simply cuts off after about 2 minutes. I experienced
these issues separately when performing the same export and preview
as movie functions.
The confusing part is that when I preview individual slides,
neither of the problems are present. So, it is likely that there is
a problem in the export/preview functions. Can anyone help out?

I am very sorry to hear that you have experienced audio
problems with Adobe Captivate. In this first instance I would
suggest that you try exporting the audio using the Advanced Audio
Editor (Audio > Advanced Audio...) and playing the audio in the
built-in audio recorder Sound Recorder. If you don't experience any
problems playing the audio file here then back in Captivate, delete
the audio file from the Slide (again you can do this using the
Advanced Audio Editor) and then import the WAV file back onto your
slide.
With regard to the audio stopping, I have seen this numerous
times. Sometimes you can stop this from occurring by simply
selecting the audio object on the Timeline moving to the 0.0 marker
and then back to it's original position. If that doesn't solve the
probem then try deleting it from Timeline and importing the WAV
file again.
Note: You might also want to make sure that the audio file
has been removed from the Library panel, if not then delete it here
as well.
Lastly, whilst you are not experiencing any duplications at
runtime (when you preview) the most common cause for duplications
is when you have inserted the audio to the slide and also another
object such as a text caption. You can check this by showing the
Advanced Audio Editor and choosing the option
Show object level audio.

New Album Art View slow and stutters.
I have a 128MB video card and 1GB of Ram running about 3.0Ghz
But I still get a problem when using the new album art browser view on iTunes. It's really slow and stutters. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could give me a tip in fixing it.I enabled 'Album Views' and the first 5 seconds or so of most songs are garbled (maybe while the image is loading?). I turn off the view album and the garbling goes away. Having the album artwork available is not as important as having songs that don't stutter or are garbled.

I've just started using MainStage, and plan on using it LIVE. I was building a concert today, with about 16 patches, when something very strange happened. After editing a patch, I hit full screen, and my computer restarted!
Has this ever happened before to anyone of you guys?I've had that happen maybe once, in the over than 100 times I used it.
Use the console application and look for the time and date that weird quit and restart occurred. The console application is in the Applications -> Utilities -> console, look thru the system log first, then console log after ( use file open ).
If you see some error that did get reported to the console, which I bet you did, it will give some clue. Find and report back here a couple lines before and after that time period when MS quit.

Slow performance, Audio Crackling and Stutters
I bought my Qosmio X775 7384 just 2 months ago and from the second I took it out of the box it seemed to underperformed, by which I mean it was about 1/2 as fast as my duel core 6gb RAM gateway desktop. I tried to ignore the issue and continued on with my work on my new laptop, using it mainly for music production. Every once in awhile I would get crackling and stutters, this I also tried to ignore but recently when I was in the middle of a performance it completely stuttered out and crashed the computer altogether, which was very embarrassing.
Since then the crackling and popping seems to happen during every song, either in my software, tunes, youth.... pretty much anything with sound has crackling and popping. My music software freezes and crashes and I am still extremely underwhelmed by its performance.
So far I have called and talked to support 3 times, the last time begging for a refund. They want to take my computer for repairs, IM not quite ready to give it up yet as I need it for performing. So here is what I have done.
I reinstalled every windows driver in my devices, I reinstalled every driver from this website and I have done a out of box restore. Nothing has helped.
I ran latencymon and its telling me that my isc and dpc routines are lasting too long for ndis.sys hdaudbus.sys iastor.sys and i8042prt.sys and its telling me that at least one of my problems seems to be network related and that it looks like it could be battery related as well.
Right now I have stripped all unnecessary programs and upgraded my wifi to the euro version of atheros. I believe I have done everything possible to speed up and make my computer stop popping and stuttering and it continues to do so as well as spike in the red of my latency testers.
Please help!It sounds like you've done everything you can, especially considering that you did an out-of-box recovery. I'd agree that it's time to send it for servicing (or live with it, I suppose).

My phone sounds like its breaking up when I call.
Then when the other person answers all I hear is my voice echoing and all they hear is static
Same happens when they call me.
Data over the phone - to Vodaphone - is fine. I can browse. With or without wifi.
My speaker and mic work fine.I think the fault just developed out of the blue. I called somebody left the phone on the table downstairs the person tried to call me back 11 times and I never heard them. When I tried to call later in the day the phone had an error.
When try to phone my iPhone from the land line the ring tone is perfect but I get the same problem with my iphone just echoing my voice and nothing else - and the landline having loud static and nothing else. -
we have received complains from our endpoints user that they are experiencing echoes and delay for their CIPC and IPT. What is the common cause of this problem? which device in the voice architecture need to check or investigate? what is the best approach in handling and giving resolution for this kind of problem? thanks.
If the call is going through the gateway, you may want to check out this doc I wrote up a bit back. It will help you narrow down the problem for PSTN calls.
Most of the CIPC users are home or teleworker types, and the most common place to look is the 800 series router that is commonly at home. You'll want to enable hierarchical QoS to shape towards the provider's speed if this is the case.
Otherwise, if it's just CIPC-IP phone calls locally on your LAN, I would upgrade the phone loads on both sides to see if it helps.

Skype on Microsoft Lumia 535 freezes and stutters
Hello dear Microsoft, I am really happy with my Microsoft Lumia 535. Great phone, great price. Skype however (which is the prime application) really behaves bad though.It freezes and stutters all the time.For example, to open the app it takes very long. To see my recent contacts takes another 30 seconds or so. To type a message to a contact takes another 30 seconds and while typing it freezes and stutters again.The performance sucks, in short.Are we expecting an update soon? This is a really bad situation, where skype on other platforms runs like a charm, but on MS's own mobile platform, just sucks.... Hope this gets resolved very, very soon! Regards, Sijmen Koffeman

Itunes skips and stutters, and the program locks up and won't close, requiring me to use the task manager to stop the "program that is not responding". I have deleted itunes and then downloaded it again, but I have the same problem. Everthing else works fine and both Norton and Advanced SystemCare6 indicate there are no viruses or anything. Has anyone been able to correct this problem? Thanks! I don't want to go back to Windows Media Player!!! (Note: Version 11.1.0.126)
Yes, it's just untenable. I hate to leave iTunes behind, but I can't deal with this situation. Are you going to scrap iTunes and go back to WMP, or do you have a better program in mind?

Drop outs, and stuttering Sound Blaster Recon3D PCie Window 8 32bit.
There are other much older threads on this subject but none I could find with the above combination.
My PC environment:
N2M4 SLI ASUS motherboard
AMD X64 5400
4 gig's DDR2 RAM
Windows 8 Pro 32bit (not a clean install but an upgrade from XP-Pro SP-3)
SB Recon3D PCie sound card
Nividia GeForce 9800 graphic card.
The on board audio chipset is disabled, it's drivers deleted.
All drivers and Bios packages are up to date.
I am not a gamer and this SC is only used with music and video playback.
I have a frequent hang, and stutter (H&S) problem which started with the installation of the new Sound Blaster card. I had and ancient Audigy 2 from which I only used it's coaxial digital output this card did not have the H&S but the 3.5mm jack failed so a replacement was needed. The H&S problem started with the new card. It does it with both the analog and optical digital output. It is apparently the SC that is doing this. I have two other outputs I use for music playback, USB and DLNA the H&S problem is not exhibited with these two play back methods.
I have watched the system monitors to see if I can spot what is going on. CPU usage runs 50% or less usually a lot less, and the RAM is also not taxed. What I do see is a split second spike in CPU usage to somewhere around 70% when the stutter hits. This is not reflected in the usage graphic for the RAM. I have adjusted the digital, and analog buffers, I have also changed the file bit depth, etc, to try and mitigate the problem at in both cases it does not fix the problem.
This SB Recon3D PCie is the 6th Sound Blaster card I have purchased over the last decade plus and the first one I have had any trouble with, If there is a solution I would like to hear of it, and hopefully this will be addressed in a driver update very soon, if not, well, there is always the ASUS Zonar Essence.I have fixed the dropout and stuttering problem. It was not Creative fault but instead it was caused by the malicious site blocker package that was loaded by Malwarebytes in February. I loaded DPC Latency Checker and watched it's real time graph and the latency was through the roof, something was eating my computer alive and it was not my SB Recon3D PCie card that was doing it Turning off Malwarebytes fixed the problem. Before I dumped the MWBS I checked in at it support forum and they where getting flamed over the malicious site blocker and locking up XP machines so I turned it off on my Windows 8 machine and instantly fixed the problem now my new Creative Sound card sounds great like all of the other SB card I have had over the years. Anyone having this problem load DPC Latency Checker, it is freeware, and see if you have a latency issue that is causing your problem.
