Weird error in Envy 4500

Usually when I print something, I used to go to Properties, change the quality to Economical draft, then want to change it to black and white only, so I go up to the Paper/quality tab to change it to black & white, but instead of that happening, it crashes whatever program I was trying to print from, especially Corel Draw which I use a lot.
I've discovered that if I just go with the first choice, it will print, but not in black & white which is what I wanted.
Any suggestions ? email me at [email protected] if you have a solution.

Which operating system are you using?  (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Mac, etc)

  • HP Envy 4500 All in One - Printer Error - not finishing print job / non-specific error code

Help - my new HP ENVY 4500 AIO (less 3 months old) has never completed a print job if it is over 1 page. I'm connected wirelessly, and not sure if there is an interruption in the wireless connection or if this is defect in the  printer. I receive a message "Printer Error - HP ENVY cancelling print job" and that's it. It will usually happen when it's on the last page of a small print job or half way thru a large (10+ page) of a print job.  Any suggestions? I've downloaded HP Print/Scan Dr - it didn't find any issues.

I had the same issue. Got in contact with HP customer service and the first person that helped had no idea how to fix it.  Got in contact with someone else and they found the issue right away. I had it connected through the wrong port.
First find out what the IP address of your printer is. You can do this by pressing the small wifi button on the front of your printer and it will show the IP address.
Then what you'll have to do is go to the start menu of your computer and search for "Devices and Printers".
Click that and a screen will open. Look for your printer an right click.
Click "Printer Properties" and a new screen will open.
Along the top you will see a few tabs. Click the one that says "Ports"
    Click "Add Port"
Highlight "Standard TCP/IP Port" by clicking on it, then click "New Port"
    A new screen will open.
    Click "Next"
Type in the IP Address of your printer and click "Next"
After that your computer should find your printer.
Click finish and you should be all set.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP ENVY 4500 Printer "Error. Cannot connect to Server"

    Hey everybody,
    I work in IT and have a client that recently purchased a HP Envy 4500 all-in-one. She called me to install it for her and I got it set up with no problems. After a few days she told me that her printer wouldn't scan. It was giving her this error message;
"Error. Cannot connect to Server. Check Server name and address."
She has this computer connected via USB and I have already reinstalled the driver and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor with no success. I have tried a lot of other solutions that people have been posting with the same issue but none have worked. This has become a huge issue and I don't see HP trying to find a solution. If no soultion will fix this, then I will be returning this printer for her and getting something that works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    bbritt91

    Hi bbritt91,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are getting a connection error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Envy 4500 printer.
To be able to use the scan to email feature the printer must be setup with web services which requires the printer to be connected to your wireless network with an active internet connection. I have included the Getting Started with ePrint document for reference.
If the printer has been setup with a wireless connection, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this. Please don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • Envy 4500 error code 0X83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP

This error code is displayed on the front of the printer. All the HP troublshooting isn't able to connect the wireless, but both Windows and HP tools seem to beleive the network connection is OK. What does the above error code mean. NP support does not geve anything specific on that code. The wireless network button and other buttons on the front of the printer do not light up when pressed.

Hello boohoo14, Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I gather that you are getting an 0X error on the front panel of your Envy 4500 printer. I have included the 'Ink System Failure' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Message Displays on the Front Panel document. It has two different paths to follow for troubleshooting based on if the works “Ink System Failure” are in the error message on the printer. If you do have those words, the printer uses HP 61 cartridges and does not have a removable printhead. Please let me know how it goes.

  • Printing errors with BRAND NEW Envy 4500 printer!!! Not happy.

I've tried all the troubleshooting info available on the web. I even installed "HP print doctor". What is happening is that ALL of my test pages are printing fine but NONE of my jobs are printing to completion. If it's a 2 line document, sure. But more than one page or even a long page? Forget it. I get an error on my computer that the print job failed. It cancels itself and then ejects the paper or gets stuck and the printer is perpetually stuck in "printing" mode and I have to manually cancel it. It really took a lot of energy to set this up so I really don't want to pack this thing up and ship it back but I sure as heck will and I'll never buy another HP printer again. The last one had faulty software too and I had to find a hack on the internet to fix it which basically meant removing the wireless hardware from the machine. It worked but I am not doing this on a brand new printer. Give me a fix, please.

  • Unable to communicate with printer error with HP Envy 4500

Hi I am having trouble printing with my Envy 4500 printer. My computer system is Windows 8.1. I installed the driver per instruction from the website and use the usb cable to connect the printer. However when I tried to print a pdf document it says "Unable to communicate with printer" and I can't get the test page to print either. Please help! Thanks in advance!

Hi @Casey_Z , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're having issues printing.  I would like to help!
I'd recommend removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I'd then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

My wireless HP Envy 4500 says "Out of Paper" when I try to print from my HP Pavilion.  The printer does work (also wireless) from a Dell laptop and if I use the Copy function.

    Hi,
As the issue only appear from a specific computer, it is more likely related to a wrong print settings of the driver.

I just bought this HP Envy 4500 this afternoon and I need to use it asap.  Upon initial set up (before any wireless connections), I am stuck at the paper feed needed in order to print the test page. • My toshiba laptop won't connect to my HP Envy 4500 printer

I have recently attempted connecting my Toshiba laptop, which runs Windows 8, wirelessly to my HP Envy 4500 printer. I'm trying to scan something onto my laptop, which I have done with the printer before. I have the remote app, and I have connected to the printer's wireless network that pops up in the wifi section of my computer. However, when attempting to get the printer to scan, using the option on the printer's screen, it said that no device was connected, and to make sure the software was installed and that scan to pc was enabled. I opened the app on my laptop, hoping to get better results using it that was, but it told me that the printer was offline, though it was clearly on. I am not entirely sure why the printer is not recognizing my laptop, even though my laptop recognizes it. I spent nearly two hours disconnecting and reconnecting, as well as turning the printer off about three times. I am about to uninstall the app and try reinstalling it, but I am doubting the results will be any better.
I see no other way to fix this problem, as there is no USB port in which to connect a USB cable, like myprevious printer, and am wondering if it is my latop, not the printer, that is faulty. It works for printing when it comes to the other devices in my household, but I have had problems even printing with my Toshiba before. I have only attempted scanning with one other device: a HP Pavillion Media Center TV PC desktop. I am starting to think that the scanner is defaulting to only reognizing other HP products, and request any and all advice in fixing this issue.
    This question was solved.

    Hi AMakkei,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan with your HP Envy 4500 to your Windows 8 laptop, and I am happy to help you with this connection issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know following information:
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
If the power cable plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

  • HP Envy 4500 scanner is busy

Suddenly, it is no longer possible to make a scan (or copy) on my HP Envy 4500 All-in-one.
A Windows 7 desktop, Windows 8 notebook and Android 4.4 all report errors, originating from the respective HP software/app. In addition, Windows 7 itself reports an error as well. All messages refer to the scanner being "busy" or mention another scan operation being in progress. However, no scan is taking place from any device. Initiating a scan or copy from the device itself doesn't work either.
The errors persists on both USB and Wifi connections. Printing works just fine.
I tried updating the firmware, but the updater cannot proceed because there is a "problem" with the device. HP Print and Scan Doctor fails at the second step ("Controle stuurprogramma", meaning "driver check"). Reboot does not help. Restoring factory defaults from the device's screen does not help. Resetting the device by pulling the plug while the device is powered on does not help. Reïnstalling the full driver does not help. Removing and re-adding the device to windows doesn't either.
I tried all steps on the HP support page [1,2] that Print and Scan Doctor directed me to. Did not work.
This is a refurbished Envy 4500 I got from HP because my original device was DOA (dead on arrival). I'm getting the impression the refurbished device was faulty and is faulty still.
Kindly request HP support staff to provide me with a solution.

  • HP Envy 4500 wireless will not print without USB cable

My HP Envy 4500 wireless printer/scan/copier does not seem to be able to work without the USB cable.  I followed the instructions provided to change for USB to wireless but it will not work without.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software.  I have windows 7 on my laptop and an IPod both of which show that the printer is showing.  I made it the default printer.   The first time I tried to do it (without the USB cord) I was unable to get passed putting in my wireless password which starts with a capital K and wasn't certain how to make a capital so reread instructions and used the USB but really want to use it wireless.  Any suggestions.  I turned the firewall off this morning to try but to no avail.  If I do need to turn the firewall off would I then put it back on if it gets working?  I would so appreciate any suggestions!

  • HP ENVY 4500: Wirelesss Setup Will Not Recognize Correct Password!

I recently attempted to establish a wireless connection for a HP ENVY 4500 and I could not get the printer to accept the CORRECT wireless network password.  This is the second such printer like this that I have set up and I have one
    additional one to go.
Going through the onscreen wireless setup provesss, I found the network (SSID) name okay.  Repeated attempts of entering the correct password failed with error messages indicating the password was not recognized.  The password has upper case/cap letters, lower case letters, numbers and common keyboard characters all of which were found on the printer's password input panels.  I even tried the modem/router's original default password and it did not work.
The only difference between my last printer set up and this one is a different type of internet service (formerly cable, later DSL, and the modem/router control panels look differently).  On the current DSL modem/router, I am using the default security settings.
I know most readers of this posting will think I must not be entering the password correctly but I am.  I have paid attention to every proper character of the password especially caps.  I was able to connect other devices to the wireless network with no problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for trouble-shooting?  Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

I share your concern about WPS as it is easy to crack and doesn't take long to retrieve the network key.  Making matters worse, even turning it off on some routers doesn't disable the vulnerability.  That is the case with every Linksys router I've checked.  But you can connect by WPS and then turn it off.  If it is not a Linksys router you will probably be ok and even if it is a Linksys router you are no worse off than you were before.  The WPS attack is a brute force attack and takes some time (in the hours category which is relatively quick for a brute force attack) so leaving WPS on for a few minutes is pretty safe.  Another thing came to mind after reading your post, are you sure you have the right SSID?  If there are many people nearby and you used a common or default SSID name like "Linksys", then the printer may not be connected to the network you think it is.  The other thing I would recommend is changing the wireless channel used by the router but to do that you would need access to the router's EWS which it sounds like you do not have.  You might want to ask Century Link about how to access it.  I can't image not being able to access the router on my home network.  You might want to ask them for options.  Router's are cheap.  I would buy my own if the ISP wouldn't give me access to the one they provide.  Let me know how it goes.

  • HP ENVY 4500 creates its own SSID on my WiFi network causing problems and confusion

I am finding this problem hard to articulate clearly and I can’t find any information on the internet about why my new HP Envy 4500 printer has set itself up with its own SSID on my WiFi network, but here goes :
I bought an HP Envy 4500 all in one printer for my daughter’s room in university, which has a WiFi network with WPA security. First I tried to add this printer to the room WiFi using the printer menu, but it gave an error stating that the WPA passkey format was incorrect, when in fact it was the correct password. So instead I had to install the printer using the installation options accessed from the HP website using her laptop.
This has worked, but it has also set the printer up with its own independent SSID called ‘HP-Setup-45-ENVY 4500 Series’. This separate SSID for the printer is causing some problems and does not seem to have any useful purpose. For example sometimes documents randomly will not print from the laptop, but if you then disconnect the laptop from the room SSID and reconnect it to the printer SSID, the documents will then print, but then you have to reconnect to the room's SSID when done. This is confusing and of course completely unwanted behaviour.
Does anyone know why this new SSID called ‘HP-Setup-45-ENVY 4500 Series’ has been set up for the printer please? Can I get rid of it so that printer is simply a device connected on the WiFi network in the room please?
I hope this makes sense as this a very frustrating issue for something that should be completely straightforward.
    Thanks.

  • Can't install HP Envy 4500 on my computer

I had my HP Envy 4500 all-in-one set up correctly, and had been using it for months. Just a couple days ago, it stopped printing and I'd get the error message it was 'offline.' This had happened before. I would just disconnect it from bluetooth/wireless and reconnect using the buttons on the printer. That always worked. It didn't this time.
I finally tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times. The uninstall was successful - but now I can't reinstall. I haven't been able to install via web, nor using the CD-Rom that came with the printer. I finally added it through my "Add Devices and Printer" option on my computer (now the printer appears as "HP Envy 4500 Series Class Driver" "HP Envy 4500 (network)"), so it now can print wirelessly, but now won't scan because the driver is no longer installed on my computer. I have no idea what to do...
My OS is Windows 8, and I've done all the usual updates. I've been getting the warning that this printer will only work on a Windows XP, Vista or 7 OS, but it wouldn't make sense that I've been able to use the printer on the same computer up until now. Please help!
