Weird errors with wireless router

I have a TP-Link router set up at my relatives' place. It works perfectly well with two iPhones and an iPad, with no problems whatsoever.
My MacBook Pro is a different story. I have set it up with this router. When I manage to get it to work, it works flawlessly... Until my laptop goes to sleep. Then, when waking up from sleep, it does the following things (about 3 out of 5 times):
1. It keeps searching for networks, and finds several unknown ones (neighbors, etc.) after a long while.
2. It complains that none of the preferred networks are available...
3. Then it (sometimes) goes on to list my TP-Link router, even if it clearly contradicts 2.
4. When trying to connect to it, it sometimes (but not always) asks for the password (even though it's saved in Keychain)
5. Then it times out trying to connect.
I repeat, and/or turn AirPort off and on, and after several minutes, it eventually starts working again.
Signal strength is okay. Two iPhones manage to connect from the same room, at the same time. These, as well as an iPad, always work. 100% of the time. No exception.
My MacBook Pro doesn't have any similar problems on any other WiFi networks.

Just plain old timeout, it seems.

  • Communication Error with wireless router, Works fine with Ethernet cable.

Video iChat is fine when my MBP and other MB's and MBP's are at my house using the Netgear 240 rangemax wireless router. I'm currently running High speed Internet via cable modem through Time Warner Cable. When I try to chat with them while they are at home, I get a communication error. I then tried to use the Ethernet cable hooked up to the cable modem to my MacBook Pro. It worked fine. I would like to use video iChat via my wireless router. I don't understand why it is not working. I think it is my router. Do I need to buy an Airport Extreme Base Station or can I still use this router. Can you possibly help me configure this Netgear router? The internet connection is fine when I use the wireless router.

I have not had very good experiences with the Netgear routers. I can't say that it is the router causing your problem, however, it might be the effective wireless bandwidth over your router. Do a speedcheck and determine the download and upload speed with wireless. Hopefully you're getting about 400Kbps up and 400Kbps down or about 1000Kbps in total.

  • Can't log in with wireless router

I have successfully used my WRT54GS v.2 wireless router for a year of two. Tonight I am attempt to connect and cannot. I am using for username and admin for password, per Lynksis instructions (and what has worked in past). It apparently is not recognizing these because after a couple of attempts I get a 401 error message. I have tried Lynksis online chat on a different computer. They had me reset the device, which didn't help. I have also been disconnected from them 3 times, so that's not too helpful. Thoughts anyone??

reset the router for a minute and do a power cycle...try to access the router again..if still facing the same issue , open IE >> tools >>internet options >> click content tab and click the tabs clear forms and clear password

  • Weird error with sync

I have an older 10GB iPod with the buttons across the top. I am trying to sync it with my computer and it starts to and then brings up a weird error message. It says that it can not be done because the folder can not be found. I dont even get a chance to restore my ipod because as soon as i plug it in it starts to do it and then brings up the message and ejects and shuts off the ipod. Please help.

Just wanted to add some more info. I have done a proper restart of my iPad. I have also restarted first iTunes (no difference) and then the computer. No difference.
Then I went into Preferences and deleted the device backup for my iPad. Plugged the iPad back in and it did a new backup VERY quickly. Unplugged, plugged back in and synced again... AND it's still installing all the apps (which are already on my iPad)... AGAIN
I really don't know what to try next...

  • Airport Express not working with wireless router

I just bought Airport Express to play music on my stereo. My PC running XP is connected to my wireless router (TeleWell TW-EA510v3) with ethernet cable and airport express wirelessly. Problem is that Airport Utility (and iTunes) can't find AE if it's not connected to router with ethernet cable.
I can connect to AE from Aiport Utility by "configure other" option so it's connected to my wireless network correctly.
Is this kind of set up even possible (pc wired to router and AE wireless)? I have tried tried WEP, WPA/WPA2 and no encryption on my wireless network and AE connects ok every time but Airport Utility still can't find it. I even tried to make a WDS network but AE was not compatible with my router. Now I can't come up with anything else to try.
Is there anything else to do? Should I buy WLAN adabter to my PC and would AE work then?
Why can't Apple make Airport Utility to recognise AE with given IP like with "configure other" option? Should not be too hard to program?!

Follow the isntruction lisetd below...they work.
Actually, the ae is a slick device, once you get it to work.
Make sure that one (or both) checkboxes in Airport Utility > Airport Express tab
(middle of page) are not checked...if one or both are checked, they limit (hide) wireless connectivity options (e.g., WEP-64) to choose from.
P.S. You must have patience: it may take a couple of minutes to establish the connection and turn the led to solid green. So, give it a chance.

    OMG!!! You are da man!!!
I have this streaming perfectly now!! Here is what I did for others to see and use (it does work perfectly)
Step 1) Clear/Reset the Airport Express
Step 2) Connect the Airport Express directly to the Router/Modem via Ethernet to set up Wireless
Step 3) Do it via the Manual Set-up Effort Listed Below following:
    AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
    o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
    o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
    o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
    AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    o Network Name: <existing Linksys wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network> I have 64bit WEP
(Same as 40bit on the drop down menu)
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
    Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)
Once it congratulates you, unplug the ethernet cable
Verify in Aitport Utility that it still recognizes (if not, repeat the above). Note this may take a few minutes, so be patient.
Now place the airport express with your stereo (or whatever) and again be patient as it tries to find the network
(mine took 4 minutes) then it turns green and you are off listening to music on your stereo downstairs in another room.
Frustrating when it does not work at first, but keep trying and it will work!!
    Thanks everyone for your help!!

  • Problems with Wireless Router and Adapter

I tried posting this in the wireless adapter forum but nobody responded :-(
    I'm using a WRT54G Router btw, and the firmware is v2.02.7, Feb. 27, 2004.
    Hi everyone,
I have a Linksys Wireless G Router and several computers that I try to connect with. One of them is a computer running Windows XP and using a Linksys Wireless USB B Adapter (WUSB11). Another is a laptop running Mandriva Linux using a Linksys Instant Wireless Network PC Card (WPC11). Another one is running Windows Vista and using a Linksys Wireless N card. I also have a laptop running Windows XP using a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (WPC54G).  I also have another PC running Windows XP and uses a Linksys Wireless USB Adapter WUSB54G. Finally, I have two macintosh laptops running OSX and with airport devices installed.
Anyway, I have problems with my internet connection frequently being interrupted and even sometimes I won't have a connection at all for hours. This occurs with my Linux laptop, the PC with the Wireless B Adapter, and the laptop using the Wireless G Notebook Adapter. In addition to this, the macintosh laptops have internet even more infrequently. However, I seem to never have a problem with the Windows Vista desktop or the Windows XP desktop that has the Wireless G adapter. I try repairing the connection and often it does not work. I have also tried resetting the router and the cable modem. I'm not sure what else I can do. I even bought a Wireless N router and had little success with that. We even went as far as moving the wireless router upstairs into our living room, thinking that the signal was somehow suffering from interference or that distance was a factor. Anyway, sorry for the long post but I could really use some help!
    Thanks.

Hi… logon to wireless N router’s setup page, open I.E. an in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it would ask for username and password, put "admin" as a paassword (default password) without any username...linksys setup pops up, click on on wireless tab and and try changing radio band to wide 40MHz, wide channel to 9 and wireless standard channel to 1 or 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, change N Transmission rate to 270 MBps…also try upgrading latest firmware on router, check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know.

  • Combine RV042G with wireless router

                       Hi,
I bought a RV042 dual WAN router. I have two ISP's, one Satellite Internet and one Fixed wireles. Now I would pefer to hook up both Inernet connections to the RV042 and then connect to a wireless router ( I have a D-Link DIR-655) where I then connect my computers rather wired or wirless. Could anyone please help me with this setup? I would greatly appreciate that. Perhaps there is somewhere a write up about this.
    Thanks, Johann

    Hi everybody,

  • Need Help: Trouble with Wireless Router Connection on MBP

Hi all.  I just bought a MacBook Pro (my first Mac ever) and love, love, love it.  However, one glitch is driving me crazy.  I do *NOT* have an airport but I connect to my cable modem through my netgear wireless router.  When my MacBook Pro goes into sleep mode, I lose the connection to the wireless router.  I have to go unplug the router to reboot it for the MBP to see it again.  I think it has something to do with how it is assigning the IP address.  Has anyone else seen this issue?  Know how to solve it?  Thanks so much.

  • Weird error with taglib

Hello, I'm getting this weird error. Sometimes when I'm using taglibs I get org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /mypage.jsp(11,4) According to TLD or attribute directive in tag file, attribute value does not accept any expressions. I refresh the page, and it displays, refresh again and the error is there again, this keeps happening randomly.
In this post I found a solution http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=683007&messageID=9423383, changing the taglib to the "_rt" works, but some guy says this is not a preferred solution.

        </body>
</html>How can I fix this issue using the normal taglibs?
    Thanks in advance

You seem to be mixing the versions of JSTL taglibs in your page.
For the c taglib you are using the JSTL1.1 URI
For the fmt taglib you are using the JSTL1.0 URI
Change the import line to use the JSTL1.1 URI, and you should be set
    <%@taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt" prefix="fmt"%>
(note the subtle change with /jsp in there)
As I mentioned in the other post, use of the _rt taglib should be restricted to JSP1.2 containers (eg Tomcat4)
In JSP2.0 containers (Tomcat5+) you should use JSTL1.1, and it should work perfectly, provided your web.xml file is up to date.
Some other posts on the subject you might find useful, that explain why the JSTL1.0 tags did not accept runtime expressions:

  • [SOLVED] Unstable connection with wireless router using rt73

I'm using the rt2x00 wireless driver for my rt73 based dongle and I'm on the latest (stock) kernel 2.6.31-6.
On startup my wireless connection behaves normal. Here's the output of iwconfig :
    wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"dlink"
    Mode:Managed Frequency:2.417 GHz Access Point: 00:1C:F0:C5:C7:0B
    Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm

    Link Quality=44/70 Signal level=-66 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
    Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Now after some time (15 minutes, half an hour, an hour or sometimes even after 5 minutes) my connection between the dongle and my wireless router gets lost and it sometimes reconnects automatically, sometimes not. In my browser I frequently get an error that my connection is lost. However, if I 'reload' the web page after that I almost instantly get the demanded page. Another option is to restart my wireless network using '/etc/rc.d/net-profiles restart'.
Here's an output of pinging my wireless router that describes the above behavior :
    chris@megatron ~]$ ping -v 192.168.0.1
    PING 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

    64 bytes from 192.168.0.1: icmp_seq=12 ttl=64 time=2.77 ms
dmesg does not output anything special about my rt73.
What's happening ? Is there any way I can get more verbose output for my problem ?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok, I think I solved the problem.
    I did two things :
    1) switch from wpa to wpa2 (made new netcfg profile); I do not know if that helps much but I changed it since my router (a DLINK 635 wireless N) advises to so since this augments performance compared to a configuration that needs to support both wpa and wpa2.
    2) rebooted my rooter the moment I encountered the connection problem. The router is configured to automatically switch the best channel available. It switched from channel 1 to 7. Apparently there was interference on channel 1 (probably because of wireless network of one of my neighbors ...).
For some strange reason the combination of these two make my network stable now. I'll cross my fingers and hope this does not happen again anymore...

  • Constant disconnects with wireless router.

Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have a WRT54G wireless router with speed booster. I am experiencing constant disconnects when online gaming. I have one PC - running windows vista 64bit ultimate. This computer is running a wireless connection which is secured and is about 10 feet from the router through a wall.
I also have an xbox 360 with a wired connection. It doesnt seem to have the same issues but does become a bit sluggish at times.
I have called linksys and they instructed me on how to upgrade to the latest firmware. I think it is 7.5.0 or something. Still having issues. Cox (my ISP) has been out and says I am getting a constant 2mb download.
Any help would be appreciated. I have talked to linksys again they have me pull up cmd and run a test which shows me at a 4-10% packet loss. They say this is an acceptable rate.
Still the problems continue. If anyone can help I would be very greatful. If you need more info just let me know and I will provide whatever I can. Thanks!!!

Sounds like a vista problem, they are breading like rabbits it seems. The WRT54G is a good router, I had one for years with no problems. What type of wireless card do you have in the pc, and is it PCI or USB

  • Help with wireless router and usb adapter

I have a model WRT54G2V1 and a USB adapter. They were working fine until about 3 months ago, then suddenly I couldn't connect to the internet. I began using my wife's computer for my email. I have a web site that I need to update.  I spent 2-hours with Tech support today and they could not help me. The error messages say "cannot find access point" and then sometimes "cannot connect to internet". I think it may be my computer, but am very unsure. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no luck. Can anyone help me, please? I'm lost and not good with this stuff. Thanks.

In your computer click on "start" then "connect to" then "show all connections".  You should be seeing two icons under "lan or high speed internet"  Your wireless connection should showing a blue screen while the lan should be greyed out.  If the lan is showing a blue screen right click on it and click on disable.  Now try to connect using your wireless adaptor.  If it did not work go to #2.
Disconnect wireless adaptor then go into programs and uninstall wireless adaptor program.  Reconnect wireless adaptor to computer.  The "found new hardware" should appear.  Run the wizard and when it asks for drivers insert Linksys cd.  Try to connect.  You may have to click on repair if you don't succeed then try again.  Go to #3
Powercycle your router. Try to connect.  I have three computers connected wirelessly and the one farthest away from the router has problems connecting.  Usually this solves the problem.

    Hi,
At first login with the user and start the router the same user id from where you have installed the router and define the parameters etc., the error looks generic with many possibilities to answer have a look on below thread which is already solved:

  • Weird Error with imported (streamed) FLV

The error being thrown is "The video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found."
The reason it's weird is that the video plays just fine when the program is run.
The error only pops up at random, generally when I'm doing other things (editing objects, drawing, selecting objects, navigating the timeline) and not when I'm actually compiling or running the application.
The video is being streamed locally, so there's no issue connecting to a server, and the file exists, so it's not missing.
    WTH?

I didn't say I've never done a drag/drop.... After learning how to use that option many years ago, I've just never chosen to use that method for any of my Web videos. The drag/drop as well as the Import Video wizard are very "Flash 101ish" and often present problems for inexperienced users..... as you are seeing.
When I trouble shoot problems posted here I try to recreate the exact steps used in an attempt to replicate the problem so it can be solved. While you might find that frustrating to describe... it often resolves the problem.
So I would venture to say that I have a little more experience than you in all aspects of Flash video.
You may have missed it in my earlier response but I said that I could not replicate your problem (following the steps you describe), I was always presented with the option to choose between streaming server and local file.... which the links above pointed out.
I stick by the reason I gave for the error, Flash is assuming you are attempting to connect to a streaming server and because no RTMP URL is listed, the connection always fails... hence the error message
There was also the suggesting to place the FLVPlayback on the stage manually and set contentPath.... bypassing any Import Wizard problems..
If those offers/suggestions don't satify you... oh well, I'll move on
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator
