Weird EXS24 Random Assignment Problem!

I'm starting to mess around with Logic Pro X for the first time and everything has been running smoothly except my EXS24. When I sample, I chop up audio files and assign them to mpc style pads to trigger as midi events within the EXS24. After I record something that sounds decent, I refine the chops by going into the EXS24 and selecting "edit". This brings up a menu of all my chops. From here I right click each sample and select "Open in Sample Editor". After I adjust the start and end points on a given chop, the EXS24 always seems to mess up the other chops in the group by randomly assigning them to different keys or replacing a sample with another one so that it is duplicated.
This is going increasingly frustrating as I can't sample effectively anymore. There has to be a solution for this? If anyone has experience with this weird issue please advise. Thanks guys, Happy Thanksgiving.

I found out what the problem is.
I have different font settings for Arabic pages than english pages. If an english webpage is open in a tab and an arabic one is afterwards loaded in the same tab, no problems occur. However if one goes from an arabic page to an english one in the same tab, the english settings are not loaded and therefore you will get messed up fonts.
The obvious solution is to find one font that works for both which isn't as easy as it sounds. Second best is to not move from arabic to english in the same tab (takes getting used to).
I am not sure if the problem occurs in persian/hebrew/urdu or similar languages but I suspect it might.
Marked the thread as solved.

  • Random shutdown problem on G5 dual 2.3 GHz w/OS 10.4.7

    Hello,
    I’m using a dual 2.3 GHz G5, and it’s been working flawlessly since I bought it about a year ago. Until yesterday, I was running OS 10.4.5. Yesterday I upgraded to 10.4.7, and as soon as I booted up after the install, I started having a maddening problem with my computer randomly shutting down. (Not sleeping, but a complete power down.)
    At first, the shutdown would happen immediately after powering up; my computer wouldn’t even make it to the blue progress bar. I zapped the PRAM and tried something I found online about unplugging the computer for 15 seconds, then plugging it back in. It now boots up, and I can log in, but the computer still shuts down randomly.
    There seems to be no pattern to the shutdowns. I tried taxing the processor by opening and resampling huge Photoshop files while lots of other apps were open, and things were fine. Then it would conk out while I was composing an email.
    I’ve heard of this random shutdown problem affecting Macbooks, but I have yet to find anything about G5 towers and OS 10.4.7. Does anyone have any info/advice?
    Many thanks.

    G5 dual 2.3 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.7) 2.5 GB RAM, 250 GB HD

    Thanks for the advice. I did check the system.log in Console and found the following altert:
    PMU FORCED SHUTDOWN, CAUSE = -122
    Now, since my computer is just over a year old, and since this problem happened immediately after applying the 10.4.7 OS update, I found it hard to believe that my hardware could be responsible. After 2 days of troubleshooting, I was stumped; after a 2-hour service call, so was Apple tech support. I ended up doing an archive and install back down to 10.4.5, and all is well.
    I tested this issue on other machines running 10.4.7 and had no problems. It seems that the following specific combination of elements triggered the problem:
    • PowerMac G5 dual 2.3 GHz (dual 1.8 machines did not exhibit the same problem)
    • OS 10.4.7
    • Logging in with Open Directory/Active Directory mobile profiles
    • iTunes 7
    Bottom line: if you’re using a dual 2.3 GHz PowerMac with mobile OD/AD profiles, do not update to 10.4.7, and steer clear of iTunes 7, at least until there is a patch update available.
    (And Apple wants to be taken seriously in the enterprise market?)

  • Weird dreamweaver keyboard mapping problem

    weird dreamweaver keyboard mapping problem:
    Hope this solution helps someone out. If you have q's, ask
    and I will try to help.
    I was having a weird problem in dreamweaver... Whenever I was
    in code view and typed "shift+i" to make a capital "I", instead it
    would paste from the clipboard.
    I finally figured out what was happening. I compared the
    menu.xml in my app support folder in the user library to the
    original menu.xml file that was in the application folder. I went
    through until I came across the diff:
    menu.xml in my library/app support folder:
    <!-- Windows Navigation Shortcuts -->
    <shortcut key="Cmd+Ins" name="Copy2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCopy()) { dw.clipCopy() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Copy2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Ins" name="Paste2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipPaste()) { dw.clipPaste() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Paste2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Del" name="Cut2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCut()) { dw.clipCut() }" domRequired="FALSE"
    id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Cut2" />
    orig menu.xml file:
    <!-- Windows Navigation Shortcuts -->
    <shortcut key="Cmd+Ins" name="Copy2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCopy()) { dw.clipCopy() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Copy2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Ins" name="Paste2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipPaste()) { dw.clipPaste() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Paste2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Del" name="Cut2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCut()) { dw.clipCut() }" domRequired="FALSE"
    id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Cut2" />
    There was a diff in the "platform=" tags. The orig stated
    [platform="win"], my config stated [platform=""] (nothing in
    between the ""'s). So, I reset the platform tag to be
    [platform="win"] in my settings and then relaunched dreamweaver. It
    fixed the problem.
    Not sure how this occurred, but it works now.

  • Are the replacement Heatsinks fixing people's Random Shutdown problems?

    Is the replacement heatsink (the shorter one) still the method of choice from Apple for fixing Random Shutdown problems?
    Is it working for people who've had it done recently?

    Does this max out the CPU?
    Yes. People who advocate this are testing to see if it's possible to induce a "random" shut down.
    Why would anyone want to do that?
    Good question. I've seen two reasons put forward: (a) It's better to make it happen now yourself rather let it strike out of the blue at some later date (and if running this test doesn't induce RSDs you can feel confident that your computer is probably immune); (b) If you take your MacBook to an Apple Store it could be useful for demonstrating to an Apple "genius" that your computer has the problem, especially if your shutdowns are infrequent.
    (personally, I don't agree with (a))

    Hi, all,
    I am seeing a weird BGP path selection problem on 4948 switch running cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-46.SG.bin code, this switch has two uplinks to the same ISP's different edge router, one circuit is primary the other one is strict backup, only default route is accepted from ISP. I am setting both local preference and weight to the default route advertised over backup link, however neither one is taking effect, BGP still thinks the backup link is better, what could be wrong?

    Hi,
    On cisco routers , weight is having highest preference to decide best path. By default for received route, weight is 0 but you are setting weight 90 to backup path and that is why it is getting preferred (higher is better). Please remove weight and let local preference be 90 (lesser than route on primary path)

  • How can I randomly assign addition or subtraction in a for loop?

    Does anyone have any ideas for how I can randomly assign a for loop to add or subtract random numbers throughout various itterations?  My current code generates two random numbers and adds them together for a set number of itterations.  I need some random itterations to be subtraction.  Thanks in advance!

    Add another Random Number generator and compare the result against 0.5. Use a case structure around your addition/subtraction operator.
    Seems like you might also want to output which operation actually got picked.

  • A randomly assigned number

    There is any way to add in a field a a randomly assigned unique number when a user submit the form?
    This number will be stay the same doesn`t matter how many times you open and save the form.
    Thank you for your help

    The number is based on the current date and time - it's all explained in that thread.
    Not sure what your second question means? As far as I know the forms would have to be opened at the same second for there to be a number collision.

  • Random Shutdown Problem Fixed (for now)

    I experienced the same random shutdown problems/symptoms with my MacBook that have been extensively described in this forum and elsewhere. I sent it back for repair under AppleCare and it was returned in 3 days. It has been running now for 4 days with no problems and far cooler and quieter (the fan rarely comes on) than it was before. The repair sheet indicates that the heat sink and heat assembly unit were replaced.
    I'll keep my fingers crossed, but at least in my case and perhaps others, the problem may simply have to do with the thermal contact with the heat sink going bad and the processor simply shuts down due to overheating.
    MacBook 2 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Followup:
    They told me something interesting at my Mac Retailer. They have had two other machines brought in doing the same thing. They tried new logic boards with no success, they tried new thermal assemblies with no luck, new ram - nothing seemed to solve the problem.
    What they finnally did was replace the Hard Drive - they tell me this has fixed the problem. Now I don't know if that is what they'll do to mine. The other two machines had the 60gb drives - mine is a 100gb, but we'll see. From all I have heard, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
    Anyone else hear anything about replacing the hard drive?

  • Random performance problems

    Hello,
    We have a medium sized internet application which is experiencing random performance problems. The applications data is stored in xml which is read/saved every page hit to a clob. The table which holds the clob has the cacheing option enabled and the clob is stored out of line (clob sizes range from 14k - 1mb)
    THE PROBLEM - Normally the read/write takes 5-10 seconds. We have been experiencing times of up to 350+ seconds. This is not a locking issue. When writing the clob to the database, we do not chunk, we simply pass the entire xml string at one time.
    Any ideas how you would debug this problem? Has anyone ran into any other similar problems?

  • Random Shutdown Problem

    Hello I started seeing the random shutdown problem around 6 weeks ago. The problem occurs every once in a while usually around the first 5 minutes of the unit booting up. When the system powers down I will try to bring it back up but it just powers down within about 15-30 seconds again. So I wait a little while about a minute, sometimes removing the battery for 30 seconds and the system will come back fine. The random shutdown has happened probably about a dozen times within the last 6 weeks. It's not causing a real big headache yet. I didn't purchase Applecare as I never do because I rarely keep a laptop for more than a year. My question is has anyone got their unit fixed what was the culprit. I've sent my unit in already once due to receiving a spinning pinwheel 90% of the time. They gutted the unit and sent it back and it has been working fine other than the RSD. I've been waiting things out to see if there is going to be a software fix for the RSD. Any tips recommendations are appreciated.

    My question is has anyone got their unit
    fixed what was the culprit.
    Mine has not had the problem recur after replacing the heat sink a month ago. Currently Apple seems to be replacing both logic board and heat sink with a new design for the combination.

    General opinion would say it's a hardware problem; there won't be a software fix.
    I'd say you should send in it for repair.

  • BB Tour has garbled HTML weird lettering random numbers symbols? What to do?

    Hi, I was sent here by BB Help on Twitter.   My BB Tour has worked fine with no problems receiving and being able to read emails.  I have my AOL, GMail and Yahoo linked to my BB, and could view multiple posts with no problem.
    Now, I am a working actress.  I utilize my BB as my portable office, to read emails, submit for gigs electronically and answer incoming calls for auditions and paid work/acting jobs.  So my BB is vital to me.
    Last month, I got weird emails that had the subject line start with "HTML..." followed by dots, dashes, random figures and numbers.  Open the email and more random capitalization letters, numbers and symbols which I assumed, was the HTML or some coding was off.  But.  This was ONLY happening with one company who I have send me casting notices for possible acting work.  I have two accounts with the casting notice place, and the same error was only occurring with only one casting company in particular.  When I reached out to the casting notice place, after some investigating and going back and forth, with me even reaching out to my phone carrier just to figure this all out, the casting notice place determined it was Blackberry's issue to resolve.
    Below I attach sample screenshots of my BB on what I see from the casting notice place so you can see what I view.  No other emails from any other company or person or entity is giving me this problem.  Only certain emails from that casting company that posts through this cssting notice place.  The other casting companies that post on this site don't show a problem when I view them on my BB either.    When I brought this up to the casting notice people, they advised I should just stop using BB and get another phone.
    On Twitter, BB Help advised to turn off HTML, but while it seemed to work initially, Ithe symbols and letters were gone and I could read the notice, it also got rid of the direct hot link that sent me to submit for work thru the email while on BB, and overnight, the garbled stuff came back again so I switched the HTML back on.  There is a mobile app link but....the app they have I don't use because it taxes the browser, delays time in getting to the site and sends me through some backdoor of the log-in page and is not easy to navigate and can crash my phone.  Doesn't help me to submit for work in a timely manner let alone read what I'm submitting for!
    I love Blackberry. Tte casting notice place advised me it would reach out to Blackberry about it but I haven't heard any new updates since.  I'm at a loss and losing access to submit and get work.  Advice?
    garbled HTML
    scrolling down, same email
    scrolling down again, same email
    still scrolling - to the end, SAME email viewing!

    I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

    It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
    If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
    But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

    So I have Photoshop CS4(I know, old), and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti, well everything was fine, even since my graphic driver's latest driver until randomly I opened PS one day and it froze for like ten minutes, I was forced to end the process. Now whenever I start it up it says it's having truoble with my Graphics Driver and some of the features specific to it are disabled because of that. • MSI P965 Neo-F V2 Random Rebooting problem - HELP!

    Hi guys, first post by me
    I've got a problem with my motherboard and have done for a couple of months and it still hasn't improved.
    Current system specs:
    Intel Celeron D 3.06GHz
    Nvidia GeForce 8600GT
    1GB Kingston DDR2 RAM (I have tried other sticks in it, all of which have rendered the same result)
    1 x Seagate 80GB Hard Drive (Checked for bad sectors - returned 0 bad sectors)
    1 x Hitachi 1TB Hard Drive (Also been checked for bad sectors - returned 0 bad sectors)
    600W Power Supply (Also tried a brand new 650W power supply but no difference).
    The system (being used as a server) seems to reboot randomly with no entry in any system logs. The system will boot fine after it and then reboot to a BSOD randomly:
    Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).
    All drivers have been updated
    BIOS is up to date.
    I've also tried clean installs of Windows Server 2008 and R2 but to no avail of the problem.
    I have also checked all of the connections in the server and they all are seated properly.
    I have also 'repasted' the CPU and GPU to see if it makes a difference - nope.
    Seems weird that it used to be perfectly fine and run 24/7 without any problems and now this problem is occuring
    Any ideas guys?

    I've managed to get this out of it (I hope it helps - the process reading a dump file is really silly - all the downloads!)

  • Random shutdown problem after replacement of new MB

    i got the replacement of my MB one month ago due to the random shut down problem. the symptom before the replacement was not only random shut down but also that the MB could not be turned on once a while.
    now it's been one month after i got the replacement from apple store, there is no randon shutdown at all, but when i got up this morning, i couldn't turn it on. i tried several times, but it just turned out to be dead. any suggestion about what i'm supposed to do? shall i ask for a refund or a replacement? i'm just afraid of that i would get a defect model again.

    thanks for both replies.
    i usually close the MB when the shutdown is completed, i know the shutdown won't be completed if i close it right after i shut it down.
    and also, i got a whole new mb as a replacement from apple store rather than having it repared and just the logical board replaced. and it's really weird, since it was said the new logical board doesn't have whatsoever problem. i also read some news on tuaw or infiniteloop (i forgot which one it is), the RSS is not really caused by the faulty logical board, it was the heat sink melt by the high temperature coming from the intel processor which shortcut the circuits around it. now i'm totally desperated. it looks like unless apple drops the stupid intel chip, otherwise the RSS will never go ever.

  • Keyboard Typing Acting Weird and Randomly

    When I type something on the keyboard, it does weird commands.
    *Especially when I push the Command, alt/option, control, fn button, it displays symbols on the screen* and what it does is open up printer settings, save as dialogs, etc.
    maybe somehow when the Command, alt/option, control, fn button are pressed it activates a keyboard shortcut?
    Is this a defect? or can i fix the settings?
    I tried restoring default on basic function settings but hasn't worked.
    For example, when I press "m" on the keyboard, it opens up finder. When I type I get weird characters.
    Also what's strange is the cap lock button randomly flashes on and off without me doing anything(this is sometimes)

    Hi,
    It sounds like there's something wrong with your keyboard. Is there any possibility that you might have spilled some liquid onto it? One way to check to see if the problem is with your keyboard, and not with the operating system, is to temporarily connect an external USB keyboard to your computer. If everything works fine when using the external keyboard, then your Macbook Pro's keyboard is the cause of the problem. If you continue to have the same problem when using an external keyboard, then the cause is either your operating system or some other app or service that's intercepting and/or changing keystrokes.
    Hope this helps,
    Ken
